  • Police from Chengdu City Arrest Zhang Weihua, Her Husband and Her Mother - Her Father Passes Away Due to the Persecution

In May 2005 the police in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province illegally arrested Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Weihua, her husband, and her mother. Even her father, who does not practice Falun Gong, was affected. He passed away due to the persecution. More details follow:

On the morning of May 13, 2005, about 20 police officers from the Yangliu Village Police Station, a branch office of the Jinjiang Public Security Bureau in Chengdu City, illegally broke into Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Weihua and Zhou Jingdong's home at #62, 4th Section of Liulichang Village, and searched the premises. They confiscated their desktop and laptop computers, Falun Gong related books, the book entitled The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, and all their identification information including their ID cards, residential cards, and their real estate property certificates (for an apartment in Guangrong Xiaoqu and an apartment at Xiaojiahe). The police searched their home for more than half a day. At dusk, they blocked the areas around the home and took the couple to be held at the Pi County Detention Center in Chengdu City.

Zhang Weihua's mother He Jianqing, father Zhang Changwen, and her younger brother live with her. Her mother is also a Falun Gong practitioner and was taken on the same day to the brainwashing class at the crossroads of Chengren Road in Jinjiang District, Chengdu City. Her father was under a lot of pressure and her brother was forced to leave home and wander the countryside to avoid further difficulties.

After Zhang Weihua was illegally detained, she tried to clarify the truth to the policemen, but they did not listen to her. She had to start a hunger-strike to resist the persecution. The police attempted to force her to eat by beating her and cursing, but it was no use. They then sent many criminals to persuade her to eat. Seeing that Zhang did not listen to them, they force-fed her. When force-feeding did not work, they gave her an infusion. Zheng Weihua strongly requested that they let her go as she was innocent.

She did not cooperate with the evil. They tied her to an iron bed and gave her an infusion. Afterwards, the criminals tortured her in every way imaginable. They even took urine from the restroom to "wash" her face and brush her teeth. After 20 days of hunger strike, Zhang Weihua was in a critical condition. Only then did they send her home.

After Zhang Weihua was sent home she was under supervision. Three police officers from the Yangliu Village Police Station were sent to her home. One of them is Yang Hongqiang. On the next day, Song Chuanping, a policeman from the Yangliu Village Police Station (previously called Liulichang Police Station), took some policemen and brought Zhang Weihua to the Jinjiang Public Security Bureau Brainwashing Class. She was detained in the same class with her mother. Her husband Zhou Jingdong was still locked up in the Pi County Detention Center.

Zhang Changwen, Zhang Weihua's father, used to be the head of the Complete Pressure Equipment Plant. After his wife, his daughter, and his son-in-law were all arrested and taken away, he had a hard time maintaining the empty home. There were also three policemen at his home waiting to arrest other practitioners, should they visit. On around June 7, Zhang Changwen told others that the police might start torturing him. There are signs afterwards showing that from June 7 to June 9, the police from the Yangliu Village Police station or Department I of the Jinjiang Public Security Bureau locked him up, threatened him, and carried out brutal interrogation using violence. On the night of June 9, Zhang Changwen's family was notified that he died of a sudden heart attack. His body was sent to the Chengdu Air Force Hospital. The police requested his family to immediately sign a release form so they could cremate his body. They tried to destroy the evidence of their crimes and make up lies to fool people. This entire persecution process needs to be investigated.

Recently some former practitioners who enlightened on an evil path have been running around everywhere. Many practitioners were arrested and sent to brainwashing classes for persecution in April, May and June.

Ranghulu Branch Office of the Daqing Police Department Arrested Ms. Mu Yongxia and have Refused to Issue an ID to Her Son
Attached with "Persecution Ms. Mu Suffered in Detention Center, Prison and Psychiatric Hospital"

Police at the Ranghulu Branch Office of the Daqing Police Department coerced Ms. Mu Yongxia into writing a Guarantee Statement with the threat of not issuing her son ID. Without a valid ID, it would be hard for her son to find a job. Ms. Mu was rather worried.

On June 3, 2005, Ms. Mu went to apply for an ID for her son, but the police at the Ranghulu Branch Office refused her because she would not write a statement promising not to practice Falun Gong. One day, Ms. Mu went to a fellow practitioner Shi Fugui's home while police were conducting a search. As soon as she stepped in the door, her bag was grabbed and several plain-clothes policemen dragged her to a police car hidden behind the building. She shouted at top of her voice continuously: "Falun Dafa is Good" "Stop arresting Falun Gong Disciples".

She was taken to the Ranghulu Police Branch Office where the police interrogated her trying to find out her name. Ms. Mu kept silent. Later, she sat on a bed and sent forth righteous thoughts for over an hour. At about 1 am the next morning, one female and five male members of the police came to take her to a detention center and were firmly resisted by Ms. Mu. So they dragged her to the ground, with each person pulling on a leg with her head on the floor, they forcibly put the old woman in her 60s into a police car.

Ms. Mu managed to open the locked window with her foot and shouted to the street on the way: "Falun Dafa is Good", "They arrest Falun Gong Disciples at midnight." Practitioners Wang Yuhua and Yuan Lixue who were arrested at the same time also shouted, "Falun Dafa is Good." After the car arrived at the Daqing Detention Center, they locked Ms. Mu in an isolated cell and shackled her to an metal chair. Ms. Mu showed symptoms of palpitations and dizziness and had to lean against the chair. So they carried her by force to cell No. 408 where Falun Gong practitioner He Lihua was detained.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Mu Yongxia was persecuted at the Ranghulu Branch Office of Daqing Police Department and the Daqing Detention Center from June 3-8, 2005. Pictures were taken after she was released.

Since June 4, Ms. Mu constantly suffered palpitations and dizziness, and could not get up. After she practiced the Falun Gong exercises on June 5th, she improved. After she finished sending righteous thoughts on the morning of the 6th, although still weak, she got off the bed and sat in front of the cell door. Holding tightly to it with both hands, she shouted to all the cells in the detention center: "Falun Dafa is Good", "Release all Falun Gong Practitioners Immediately". Soon, there were abusive sounds from the police in the monitoring room heard over the loudspeaker and a female guard on-duty kicked Ms. Mu hard three times through the bars. Her cell-mates dragged her away from the door, but she continuously shouted as she sat in the center of the room. When her inmates lifted her up on the bed, she still continued shouting. Then a dozen prisoners came and covered her up with a quilt and carried her outside. Cell No. 408 was located in the innermost part of the corridor. So when she was carried passed the other cells, she shouted out loud: "Fellow practitioners, we shouldn't endure the persecution passively. Falun Dafa is Good! Immediately release all illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners! They have just tortured Yang Yuhua to death and now they turn to me. I am Mu Yongxia. If I don't return, it means that they have killed me." At that time, all practitioners shouted together: "Falun Dafa is Good! Stop persecuting Falun Gong Disciples!" They carried Ms. Mu to the hallway where the clinic was located and force-fed her (although she didn't go on hunger strike). To silence her, they stuffed her mouth with a towel and the prison doctor inserted a tube into her nose making it difficult for her to breathe or vomit. They then carried her back to the cell. All the practitioners shouted "Falun Dafa is Good" was shouted all morning nonstop (among them was a female practitioner possibly in cell No. 407 who was said to be pregnant.) In the afternoon, Ms. Mu told all her inmates about the real situation of Falun Gong: she told them about the changes she experienced physically and mentally after the practice, about the breakup of her family in the past several years due to the persecution, and about how the police would not issue her son an ID which has made his job search effort difficult. She also told them about the spread of Falun Gong around the world and how people all over the world know about the wonderfulness of Falun Gong.

On the morning of the 7th, she wanted to sit on the floor to send forth righteous thoughts at report time. The prisoners held her back and carried her back to the bed. She then erected her palm to send forth righteous thoughts. At that time, the detention center director and prison guards lined up in the middle of the room. After calling the names of all the prisoners, the police swore at Ms. Mu and hit her with some sandals. Ms. Mu, however, spoke out: "Falun Dafa is Good! Stop persecuting Falun Gong Disciples!" They then moved the metal chair inside the cell and locked her in. Ms. Mu continued shouting the whole morning. To fan hatred, the police then tortured three prisoners with "body-folding" causing one of them to fall to the ground twice due to heat stroke; four were forced to stand still; 15 were forced to sit on small area from morning to 9 pm. Ms. Mu then shouted: "Stop the implication!" and could not help shedding tears, a portion of the prisoners cried as well. Ms. Mu has been talking out loud and recited Lunyu (preface of Zhuan Falun). On the morning of the 8th, after sending forth righteous thoughts, she suddenly fainted after being on the metal chair for 10 hours. Only when she was on the verge of death did someone dealing with her case come to bail her out.

Currently, Ms.Mu has fever and cold sweats at night. She feels pain all over her body and has dizziness and nausea. The Ranghulu Branch Office of Daqing Police Department and the Daqing Detention Center are responsible for Ms. Mu's current physical condition.

    -------------

Persecution of Ms. Mu Yongxia in 2001 at the Detention Center, Prison and Psychiatric Hospital

Before she started to practice Falun Gong, Ms. Mu Yongxia had suffered from paralysis (she still has her disability certificate) and could not take care of herself. Someone introduced Falun Gong to her and she was cured after practicing for a little over one month. Her 88-year-old mother was disabled due to muscle atrophy but could walk again after only a month of practice as well.

In July 1999, lies deceiving the whole world pressed down from the sky as the persecution of Falun Gong began. Ms. Mu kept practicing Falun Gong and clarifying the truth to the others. In May 2001, she was arrested by officers from Honggang Police Station on her way to visit relatives, and was transferred to the Ranghulu Police Branch Office subsequently. Later, she was sent to the Daqing Detention Center for one month and transferred to the Saertu Detention Center afterwards unlawfully. Ninteen days later, the Ranghulu office police even sent her to a psychiatric hospital (Daqing No. 3 Hospital) where she suffered tremendously both physically and mentally: They tied her to bed and injected her with nerve-damaging drugs. They also force-fed her with drugs and gave her injections that cause dizziness and fuzzy eyesight. As the result, she could not straighten her back, ran a high fever, trembled and lost control of her body. When she fell down and could not stand up to walk after using the toilet, she had to crawl back to the ward. Twenty days later, she was tortured to the point that she had no eye response and was in a coma. Later on, practitioners rescued her and she practiced Falun Gong for six months to recuperate. When she gradually recovered and went back home, her husband had already remarried; her mother in her 80s had died in sorrow; and her two children were crying and looking for her everywhere because their mother was gone and their home was broken up.

And now, Ms. Mu is finally reunited with her children but they still can't live a peaceful life. The police didn't want them to settle down and would not issue an ID to her son so that he can search for a job.

Practitioner Ms. Guan Shujuan Relentlessly Persecuted - Her Grief-stricken Teenage Son Commits Suicide

Ms. Guan Shujuan lives in First Liaolanmin Village, Liaolan Town, Pingdu City, Shandong Province. She obtained the Fa in 1997, and has been abducted multiple times and sent to brainwashing classes, placed under house arrest or had money extorted by the police and Liaolan Town Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Committee. In November 2000, her second oldest sister (also a Falun Gong practitioner) was tortured almost to death. Ms. Guan went to Beijing to appeal against the vicious persecution with her other sisters and her niece (all Falun Gong practitioners), and four other fellow practitioners from Liaolan Town.

After being stopped at the Liaolan Police Station, they were detained in the town's CCP Committee Office for 20 days. They then were detained in Qingdao City Detention Center for one month, sent back to the Pingdu City Detention Center, and detained there for 15 more days. Finally, Pingdu City Police Department Head personally issued a decision, "These people do not meet the charges necessary to be sent to the labor camp." (This decision was known to many people in the neighborhood.) Still the Liaolan Police Director said, "I will find an excuse to sentence you to two to three years of forced labor." Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wei Shuping was also sentenced to forced labor together with Ms. Guan Shujuan.

In January 2001, Liaolan Town Police Station officials fabricated an excuse to secretly send Ms. Guan Shujuan to the Jinan City Labor Camp to serve three years of forced labor. During that time period when Ms. Guan was serving the term, her fifteen-year-old son (not a practitioner) could not bear the injustice committed against his mother. He took poison and died on August 30, 2001. Her husband (not a practitioner) was also depressed by all of these cruel attacks and filed for divorce in March 2002. The Liaolan Town Court House refused to provide a copy of the divorce certificate to Ms. Guan, making her life extremely difficult after being released.

Ms. Guan Shujuan's second older sister died in May 2002. Ms. Guan was released from the labor camp in June 2003. The house was in her ex-husband's name, so she was left with no place to live. She had to live with the help of her friends and family. The Liaolan Town Police Station harassed her when she tried to register for residency certificate.

610 Office Personnel in Meizhou City, Guangdong Province Arrest Falun Gong Practitioners

At midnight on May 23, 2005, officials from the 610 Office of Jiaoling County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province broke into the home of practitioner Mr. Zeng Qinglin (who is over sixty years old). They ransacked his home and abducted him and his wife.

Police from the 610 Office of Xingning County, Guangdong Province arrested five practitioners. Later they abducted another two practitioners to a brainwashing class in the former building of the traffic police in Mei County.

Liu Qiqian from the 610 Office in Mei County, Guangdong Province, police from the Chengjiang town security office, and Lu Laixiang from Chengjiang town judicial department arrested practitioner Li Xiufang on June 1, 2005. At around 3:00 p.m. that day, the abovementioned people went to Li Xiufang's home. Upon seeing them approaching, Li Xiufang hurried to lock the door. They harassed her for over two hours but still could not get in. Later they hired a professional locksmith to open the door and forcefully broke in. They dragged her to the police van and took her to a brainwashing class. They did not display any legal document during the entire incident. One senior woman stepped forward and said, "As officials working for the government, you benefit from people but harm them in return. Li Xiufang is the kindest person in our area. You let the corrupted, robbers, and thieves walk free, but arrest the kindest person. Where is your conscience?" The vicious people could not say anything. Later Li Xiufang was taken to the brainwashing class at Mei County.

Recently the officials from the 610 Office and police in Meizhou City, Guangdong Province arrested many practitioners. One time police went to a practitioner's home and asked him if Falun Gong is good or not. If the answer was no, he would be released. Otherwise, he would be taken to a brainwashing class. Later this practitioner managed to escape with righteous thoughts. To our knowledge, there are presently over ten practitioners in the Mei County brainwashing class.

    1. The February 12 incident at the Women's Prison in Jilin Province

At noon on February 12, 2004, ten Falun Gong practitioners who had been detained at the Jilin Province Prison for Women No. 9 Division, lined up and each held out a piece of paper with one Chinese character. When combined, the ten characters stated: "Stop Persecuting Falun Gong Inside the No. 8 Division."

These practitioners were calling attention to the latest round of persecution of Falun Gong practitioners who are held in the No. 8 division. Division director Guo, prison guards Zhang Yan and Han, and prison police officer Hu had instigated other inmates to brutally beat a female practitioner. Her head swelled up horribly as a result. Others could barely look at her. She could hardly open her eyes, and two other people had to carry her and help her walk. The prison staff still forced the practitioner to do physical labor every day even though she was badly injured.

One afternoon after the February 12 appeal, a group of prison officials, led by the Deputy Prison Director Wu Zeyun, suddenly rushed into the prison factory. Division Director Zhong Guimei and her assistant Wei then told the inmates to tie up four of the ten practitioners who participated in the appeal. They were then dragged out of the factory and thrown into special small cells. The practitioners were locked inside the small cells from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. At night, the practitioners were handcuffed to the heating pipes. Two inmates monitored the practitioners 24 hours per day.

Practitioner Liu Guixia's hands were frostbitten after she was finally released from the small cell one month later. Immediately after her release from the cell, she was tied to her bed, with each limb bound to one of the four corners. She was not allowed to use the restroom, and the bed sheet and her clothes became covered with urine. Later on, prison guards stripped off Liu Guixia's clothes and then opened the window to let the freezing air blow onto Liu Guixia's body. Liu Guixia was tortured this way for two weeks.

Practitioner Wang Liping was extremely weak and emaciated after being locked inside the small cell for one month. One inmate tried to force-feed Wang Liping and slapped her face while continually cursing at her. As for the rest of the six appeal participants, they were also tortured. They were tied to their beds with all four limbs stretched out. Guards even took away practitioner Song Weixiang's bed board and let her four limbs support her entire body weight. The pain was unbearable, and her joints felt as if they would crack. Song Weixiang suffered this torture for 168 hours. Practitioner Cheng Jie was also persecuted in a similar way. Another practitioner named Liu Yue had to sleep on a cold and hard bed board in the freezing cold. From the pain and cold, she shivered the entire next day.

    2. Practitioner Sui Qifeng and His Family's Persecution Experiences

Mr. Sui Qifeng, 56, worked at the Petroleum Management Bureau in Daqing City. Mr. Sui's wife, Li Shulian, 59, worked for a subsidiary of the Drill Production Technology Company in Daqing City. Mr. Sui has two daughters. The elder, Sui Yuling, is 34 years old, the younger, Sui Yumin, is 30 years old. After the entire family started practicing Falun Gong, their illnesses completely dissappeared. Since July 20, 1999, when the Chinese government began its crackdown on Falun Gong, Mr. Sui's house has been ransacked, and he and his family have been arrested and detained on several occasions.

On February 27, 2000, Li Sulian and her two daughters went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. Fangshan District Police officers arrested Mrs. Li and her two daughters. Later, they were brought back to Daqing City and imprisoned in the Daqing City Detention Center for one month. Next, they were transferred to the Honggang District Detention Center and detained there for another two months. Li and her two daughters were finally released on June 13, 2000.

However, on June 18, 2000, Li Sulian, her daughter Sui Yumin and hundreds of practitioners were arrested because they participated in a Falun Gong group exercise practice. All the practitioners were detained at the Daqing City Detention Center.

The next day, Mrs. Li Sulian and some other practitioners were transferred to the Lindian City Detention Center. At the Lindian City Detention Center, Mrs. Li was brutally beaten. One month later, Mrs. Li was transferred to Honggang Detention Center in Daqing City and detained there for 15 days. On June 19, 2000, Sui Yumin decided to practice the Falun Gong exercises inside the detention center. A guard rushed to Yumin, grabbed her by the hair and then started to beat her. Yumin lost quite a lot of hair and her body was covered with bruises from the brutal beating.

Sui Yumin was transferred to the Taikang County Detention Center and detained there for two months. After that, she was transferred to the Honggan Detention Center in Daqing City and held there for another 15 days. After Sui Yumin was released from the detention center, she was first taken to the local public security station and then to her work unit. She was under strict surveillance around the clock.

At the end of December 2000, Sui Yumin and her mother Li Sulian again went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. They were arrested and held at the Tongzhou District Detention Center. More than 20 days later, they were released. In January 2001, officers from the Babaijiong Public Security Station arrested Sui Yuling and then ransacked her house. The police officers then took Li Sulian to the Daqing City Detention Center. One month later, Li Sulian was transferred to the Honggang Detention Center, where she was held for 15 days. Afterwards, Li Sulian was transferred to the Daqing City Refugee Center. At the refugee center, Li Sulian went on a hunger strike to protest against the persecution, and was subsequently force-fed.

In April 2001, Mr. Sui Qifeng went to Mingshui County, Helongjiang Province to pass out truth-clarification materials, but he was arrested by local police and sentenced to one year in prison. In April 2002, Mr. Sui was released from the prison. In November 2001, Sui Yumin and her mother Li Sulian went to Beijing again to appeal for Falun Gong. They were arrested the next day and sent to the Zhaoyang District Detention Center in Beijing. All practitioners detained in the center went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Sui Yumin was force-fed with heavily saturated salt water.

On August 30, 2002, Li Sulian and her two daughters were again abducted and dragged to the local public security station. They were transferred to the Daqing City Detention Center and held there for one month. On September 29, 2002, they were transferred to the Honggang Detention Center in Daqing City, where they were detained for 15 days. On October 14, 2002, the three were transferred to the Daqing City Refugee Center. There, they went on a hunger strike that lasted 18 days. They became extremely weak, and the refugee center refused to hold them any longer.

On May 16, 2005, the Babaijing Public Security Substation once again arrested Sui Qifeng and Li Sulian. That night, Li Sulian was taken to the Daqing City Detention Center and Sui Qifeng was sent to the Longfeng Detention Center, also in Daqing City. Nine days later, Sui Qifeng was sentenced to one year in prison. Currently Sui Qifeng is being held in the Daqing City Forced Labor Camp. It was reported that Li Sulian was first sent to a detention center in Harbin City, however, the center refused to accept Li, and she was thus transferred to the Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp in Qiqihar City.

    3. Practitioner Li Yanxiang's Persecution Experiences

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Yanxiang is from Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province. She is about 40 years old. After the Chinese government started the crackdown on Falun Gong, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong four times, and each time she was illegally imprisoned.

While in Beijing, five armed police officers from the Tiananmen Square Public Security Station brutally beat Li. Later, some police officers from Qinhuangdao City who were stationed in Beijing arrived and viciously beat Li again. Afterwards, Ms. Li was taken back to her hometown and detained at the First Detention Center of Qinhuangdao City.

On October 27, 2000, Li went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong for the fourth time. She was detained for more than 20 days and then sentenced to three years in prison at the Kaiping District Forced Labor Camp at Tangshan City. Practitioners at the forced labor camp were severely persecuted. Some practitioners held hunger strikes to protest the torture. In retaliation, prison guards stripped off practitioners' clothes and threw the practitioners into the freezing snow.

One practitioner from Funing County named Hao Jianling was disfigured by electric baton shocks. Others were hung in the air for more than ten hours. Their hands and feet were frostbitten, and they could not walk afterwards. Prison guard Liu Liyin continually shocked practitioners one by one with an electric baton. He also struck practitioners on their faces with a bamboo club.

Some other prison guards instigated inmates to strip off practitioners' clothes and hit them on the hips. Some of the practitioners had open wounds. A number of practitioners went on a hunger strike for six months, yet the wicked prison guards still forced those practitioners to march. If the practitioners failed to march due to weakness, they were hung with their feet off the ground and severely beaten. Their clothes were stripped off, and the prison guards opened the windows to let the freezing wind blow onto the practitioners' bodies. The prison guards also tried to force-feed practitioners who were on hunger strike. They tied the practitioners to their beds with their limbs tied to the four corners of the bed. During one force-feeding session, Ms. Li vomited blood. In June of 2001, the forced labor camp started brainwashing sessions for practitioners, and the practitioners were totally deprived of sleep.
