Mr. Zhang Sanquan, a Falun Gong practitioner from Xiong County, Hebei Province, went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on September 22, 2004. On the same night, the county police detained him, and then tortured him for three days. Meanwhile, the police searched his home.

Later the police began subjecting him to a torture instrument called "star over sky," which is a helmet-shaped instrument with nails inside. The abusers put it on Mr. Zhang's head, and he lost consciousness. When he awoke the next day, his head was covered with blood and had many holes caused by the nails. Later, the wounds festered and ulcerated.

On September 25, he was transferred to the county detention center, where he suffered the second torture about ten days later. Under instructions from Deputy Chief Cui Qihua, policemen Su Shiliang and Peng Hongwei tortured him using the tiger bench torture. He was chained to an iron chair for three days and nights until he fainted. The torture caused him to suffer from high blood pressure and have a heart attack. With extreme pain in his legs, he could hardly walk. One month later, he was sentenced to three years of forced labor. Mr. Zhang has since been jailed in Baoding Forced Labor Camp.

In the forced labor camp, his health condition went from bad to worse. Recently he couldn't eat anything. Because he was so weak, his family members went to the camp to ask for his medical parole, which the camp authorities refused to grant. The camp claimed that the family had to ask the county government for his release.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yue Qiuyu from Xinjiang was illegally detained in Wulapo Labor Camp in 2000, where the authorities forcefully aborted her 7-month pregnancy. Ms. Yue suffered immense mental shock as a result. Additionally, the guards physically tortured her to an extreme extent. After serving her sentence, Yue Qiuyu returned home, but the wicked perpetrators still harassed and persecuted her. She was forced to leave home to avoid further persecution. Now, no one knows her whereabouts.

Another Xinjiang practitioner, Ms. Zhong Qiao, was very steadfast in practicing Falun Gong. The Wulapo Labor Camp tortured Zhong Qiao extensively. Ms. Zhong was physically and mentally tortured for long periods of time and finally reached her limit. After serving her sentence, Zhong Qiao was released. Ms. Zhong is an orphan and therefore, had nowhere to go. Zhong Qiao's hands were disabled during the persecution, so she cannot work. Ms. Zhong has been moving from place to place for more than 3 years trying to avoid further persecution. As of this writing, no one knows Zhong Qiao's whereabouts.

Mr. Chu Liwen, from Taibaozhuang Town, Changyi City, Weifang, Shandong Province, was illegally arrested in 2003 because he firmly cultivated and practiced Falun Gong. He was transferred to several lockups in the Weifang area, and was later illegally sentenced to five years in prison. He is now being detained in Weibei Prison. On the morning of March 30, 2005, when Mr. Chu's son, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chu Qinghua and his younger sister went to Weibei Prison to visit their father, he was arrested and sent to the local police station. Chu Qinghua was secretly sentenced to forced labor for two and a half years and is now detained in Wangcun Forced Labor Camp.

In Weibei Prison, Mr. Chu Liwen suffered from inhuman torture. Four to five prison guards simultaneously used electric batons to shock him, and handcuffed and kicked him. In addition, they used iron bars to clamp together both of his legs. He was tortured this way for more than two months, such that his body was disfigured in several places and he became unable to walk. Mr. Chu eventually had to be carried out of the torture chamber by the guards.

More than six months passed before his son Chu Qinghua got this news. Chu Qinghua firmly requested to visit his father many times. After going through numerous levels of government departments, he was finally allowed to see his father in the winter of 2004. His father was emaciated and frail, and his voice quavered when he spoke. After a short ten-minute meeting, Chu Qinghua was forced to leave.

On the morning of March 30, 2005, Chu Qinghua and his younger sister went to Weibei Prison to visit their father again. On this occasion they did not need to go through any formalities and the prison guards did not make things difficult for either of them - they were promptly granted access to their father. After the ten-minute meeting, both the brother and the sister were ready to leave; however, in order to stall for time, the prison guards asked them to stay a while. Neither of them realized this was a trap, so they stayed longer.

After the meeting, both of them got up to leave. A prison guard stopped them and said they had some matters to discuss with them. They entered a room and were immediately held by 4 to 5 prison guards. They were taken to the local police station that same day.

At the police station, both the brother and sister were locked up separately in small rooms. There they were interrogated and cruelly beaten. Because the younger sister did not practice Falun Gong, she was released in the afternoon. Chu Qinghua was sent to a forced labor camp for two and a half years, and is now detained at the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp.

I witnessed the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners at the Xinhua Labor Camp in Sichuan Province. Below are some of the facts I remember.

1. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Zexing and two other unknown practitioners were tortured to death. One of them was tortured to death at the labor camp hospital on the first floor (Room 103).

2. The labor camp guards used ropes to bind practitioners and high-voltage electric batons to beat Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Liu Yongsheng, Mr. Liu Guoxing, Mr. Deng Hai, and Mr. Wang Jun, among others. These practitioners were unable to eat due to severe injuries to their mouths caused by the electric shocks. The marks on their bodies caused by being bound haven't gone away, even after a year.

3. In the latter half of 2001, approximately one hundred practitioners were forced to do squats in the classroom. Falun Gong practitioner Fan Haidong was temporally paralyzed because he was forced to squat for so long, and he spent more than 20 days recovering in the hospital. Luo Yangsheng nearly lost consciousness in the classroom.

4. The police conducted meetings to insult Falun Gong practitioners. Falun Gong practitioner Tian Xu was tortured with strangulation and smothering by "personal cangues" [a cangue is an instrument of torture, and the term is now used to describe people who are used to control the behavior of a practitioner with force] because he said "Falun Dafa is good" in a meeting.

5. The police ordered criminal inmates to verbally abuse, beat and punish Falun Gong practitioners. They forced the criminals to torture practitioners by means of deducting points, forcing them to write self-criticisms, and threats of transferring them out of the production team. They applied extreme pressure to these criminal inmates level by level, and used a so-called "emergency team" to brutally persecute practitioners.

6. The police used the guardhouse to isolate Falun Gong practitioners. Each practitioner was encaged in a separate room and wasn't allowed to speak. Even to be allowed take a walk, one would have to ask the "personal cangues" team leader. He would have to grant his permission, and then one would be watched by at least three "personal cangues." Practitioners were not allowed to go to the cafeteria, gather together, move about freely, or go to the restroom without permission. They were always under the personal cangues' watchful eyes, even when they went to the restroom. (The "personal cangues" went through special training; gangsters, drug addicts, hooligans, swindlers and thieves composed the "personal cangues" team.)

7. Guards and cangues at the labor camp illegally punished the practitioners, forcing them to endure the "sitting board." In this torture the practitioners were seated and tied to a small stool, and forced to face the wall and sit at attention in the military manner. The practitioners weren't allowed to go to the restroom or close their eyes. If the practitioner failed to sit in the required manner, the guards would beat him, kneeing and punching him in the midsection and soft tissues. Some Falun Gong practitioners' eyes were swollen, and their mouths and faces were badly injured. The police also forced the practitioners who wouldn't compromise their belief in Falun Gong to stand at attention. This torture could go on from 30 days to a few months. The practitioners' legs would become so swollen that they couldn't even walk.

8. The team leaders that participated in beating Falun Gong practitioners include Wang Heping, Xie Facai, Dai Jun, Sun Lechang, Wang Wen, Ye Yong, and Lai Cha, among others.

9. The police officers that participated in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners include Fan Fusheng, Zhang Xiaogang, Fu Weidong, Li Changzhong, Deng Gang, and Deng Tao, among others. Especially, Li Changzhong, who is the head of the First Team of the Fourth Unit. His brutal actions pleased officials at higher levels, and he was promoted to instructor, specializing in persecuting Falun Gong.

Mr. Hu Guoyan was a 72-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Hubei Province. He obtained the Fa in the fall of 1998. After starting  practice, his mind and body improved dramatically. He easily gave up smoking, something he had been unable to do for several decades. His body grew stronger and stronger. Mr. Hu's character transformed from sullen silence due to being treated unjustly and suffering persecution throughout the course of numerous past political movements, to becoming a joyful and light-hearted man. Mr. Hu's entire family was overjoyed with the changes in him. On July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party launched its systematic persecution of Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners. The elderly man was unable to escape the persecution. His family went to the Provincial Capital to appeal for the Falun Gong. After going home, they suffered persecution. Local officials often came to their door to harass, threaten and intimidate them. They demanded food and drink from the family during these episodes, and treated them in cruel and demeaning ways. Mr. Hu suffered under the enormous psychological pressure. His daughter was illegally imprisoned, and suffered persecution through brainwashing. The illiterate elderly man couldn't find anyone to help him, and lost his practice environment. His mind and body began to degenerate rapidly, and he passed away in July 2001.

Ms. Xia Jingxiu was a 70-year-old resident of Sidaowan, Aohan Flag, Chifeng City in Inner Mongolia. Ms. Xia began to practice Falun Gong in November 1998. After she had practiced for one month, her diabetes, hypertension and various other illnesses disappeared. From then on, she always followed Truth, Compassion and Forbearance in daily life. Not only did she obtain good health, but her mind was also purified. In July 2003, officials from the 610 Office in Aohan Flag named Chifeng and Wang Huashuang (who was the head of Sidaowanzi Police Station), in concert with other local authorities, conducted a brainwashing class to persecute the elderly woman. They didn't allow her to practice. Ms. Xia then suffered a relapse of her illnesses, and became unable to take care of herself. She died of her illnesses on April 27, 2005.

Ms.Jiang Xueying, a Falun Gong practitioner in Liaoning, once had many diseases. After she practiced Falun Gong, her illnesses disappeared without medical treatment. After July 20, 1999, the local police and officials repeatedly harassed and threatened her family. Her body and mind were horribly damaged. She suffered a relapse and died of illness on November 8, 2004.

Ms.Wang Baozhong, a 60-year-old resident of Luushunkou District in Liaoning Province, obtained the Fa in 1996. After July 20, 1999, because the local police from the sub-district office continuously went to her house to harass her, she died of illnesses brought on by the huge psychological pressure in August 2002 .

Ms. Ye Yuzhen, a 65-year-old practitioner from Fuyang City, Zhejiang Province, had terminal lung cancer before she started practicing Falun Gong. She regained her health after she began to practice. On July 20, 1999, the vicious persecution of Falun Gong practitioners began in China. In 2000, Ye Yuzhen went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. She was taken back to her hometown by the local police and was illegally detained for half a month. Later, she was transferred to the brainwashing center and was forced to attend brainwashing sessions. Since then, Ms. Ye was under constant surveillance and subjected to the threats and harassment from the government officials. She wasn't allowed to practice the Falun Gong. Because of this, Ye Yuzhen suffered a relapse of her former illness and passed away in January 2005.

Practitioner Ms. Liu Santuan, from Luoyang City, Henan Province, was in her 60s. After she started to practice Falun Gong in 1997, all her old illnesses, including diabetes, were gone. Since the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners began on July 20, 1999, she was constantly harassed and threatened by the local police and members of her work unit. She suffered a relapse of her illnesses and passed away in 2004.

Sixty-three-year-old practitioner Ms. Ma Yunhua was from Zhangdazhuang Village, Meichang Township, Wuqing District, Tianjin City. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1998 and benefited a lot from it both physically and mentally. She was in good health. After the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners began, Ms. Ma went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was unlawfully arrested and detained three times, and her home was illegally searched. Ms. Ma suffered severe physical and psychological torment and passed away in May 2004.

Ms. Wang Yuzhan was a 64-year-old practitioner from Nanyang City, Henan Province. She was persecuted for a long time because she practiced Falun Gong. She suffered physical and psychological torment and passed away on May 14, 2005.

Eighty-three-year-old practitioner Mr. Wang Hongtu was from Laizhou City, Shandong Province. He took up the practice of Falun Gong in 1996. In 2001, his daughter, also a practitioner, was illegally arrested and sentenced to 4 years in prison. Since then, Wang Hongtu was often harassed and threatened by the local police. Additionally, he missed his daughter. He passed away on May 12, 2004.

Mr. Chen Yulin was a 77-year-old practitioner from Chengde City, Hebei Province. He started to practice Falun Gong in 1998 and regained his health. All of his old illnesses disappeared. After July 20, 1999, due to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, Mr. Chen suffered a relapse and passed away in June 2001.

Seventy-one-year-old practitioner Ms. Liu Shuqin was from Xinglong County, Hebei Province. After she started to practice Falun Gong, all her illnesses went away. After the persecution began, she lost her practice environment. On January 17, 2005, Ms. Liu passed away from a sudden brain hemorrhage.

Ms. Zhang Shulan was a 64-year-old practitioner from Xinglong County, Hebei Province. She started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. Her illnesses, including heart disease and inflammation of the gallbladder, all vanished. On July 20, 1999, Ms. Zhang went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. After she returned home, she was harassed and threatened by officers from the Xinglong County National Security Group. In 2003, Ms. Zhang suffered a relapse of her previous illnesses and passed away.

Practitioner Mr. Xiang Ziji was a 65-year-old retiree from the Anjiang Textile Factory in Hunan Province. He started to practice Falun Gong in 1997. His relatives were persecuted for practicing Falun Gong. Additionally, he himself was often harassed by government officials. He lived in constant terror and passed away in June 2002.

Sixty-eight-year-old practitioner Mr. Bai Ling was from Bozhou City, Anhui Province. He started to practice Falun Gong in 2004 and suffered persecution. At the end of December 2004, Mr. Bai's strength declined due to cancer, and he passed away.

In February, the police from the Liulinqiao Police Station, Handan City arrested Ms. Qi Shuchun using residential registration as the excuse. After they tortured her, Ms. Qi became very weak. She could not walk by herself, and displayed symptoms of severe tuberculosis. She was sent to the First and the Second Detention Center of Handan City. After the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp refused to admit her, the police from the 610 Office forcibly detained her in the First Detention Center of Handan City. On April 22, 2005, not long after she was detained there, the First Detention Center, fearing responsibility in case of her death, returned her to the Liulinqiao Police Station. The Liulinqiao Police Station confined Ms. Qi in a metal cage that was less than two meters wide. Six persons taking turns watched her 24 hours a day. She was detained in the police station for over a month, although according to regulations, she should not be detained for over three days.

Recently, the 610 Office of Handan City arrested Ms. Qi again and sentenced her to three years in a forced labor camp. She was sent to the fifth group in the Female Forced Labor Camp of Shijiazhuang City.

2. [Liaoning Province] Mr. Jing Yandong, the Assistant General Manager of the Olympic Electronic City of Dalian City, Was Arrested

In May 2005, Mr. Jing Yandong was appointed as the assistant general manager of the Olympic Electronic City of Dalian City for his outstanding job performance. Because he practices Falun Gong, early in the morning on May 20, the police broke into his house just before he went to work and arrested him. The police took away his computer, mobile phone and other personal items of his and threatened his family members.

Mr. Jing was a lecturer at the Dalian Oceanic University. He was fired from his job at the University for practicing Falun Gong. At the end of 2003, Mr. Jin was invited to serve as the director of the training center in the Spring Goods Management Center.

3. [Jilin Province] Several Falun Gong Practitioners from Jilin City Were Arrested

On the night of May 17, 2005, four policemen from the New Jiuzhan Police Station, Jiuzhan Development District, Jilin City broke into the house of Ms. Zhang Yazhen's brother and searched it. The policemen took some things from his house. Subsequently, the police arrested Mr. Zhang Yazhen who came to his brother's house for a visit.

On the morning of May 18, four policemen broke into the living compounds of the Fiber Factory. They ransacked Mr. Liu Zhihuan's house, and took away his Falun Gong books and Teacher's portrait. Zhu Shanji and Mr. Liu were released. Mr. Zhang was sent to the First Detention Center of Jilin City.

Ms. Cui Xianghong from Jiuzhan District is about 30 years old and was arrested and sent to the Third Detention. Ms. Zuo Ruiying (about 60 years old) is a teacher in the Seventh Middle School. The director of the street neighborhood and the police station arrested her at 2 a.m. on May 14.

On May 26, several policemen from the Longhua Police Station, Longtan District, Jilin City broke into Ms. Ming Yanpo's house and arrested her. The police also took many things from her house. The details are still unknown. Many policemen are still waiting in her house to arrest others who may go to there.

4. [Nanchong City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Lin Feng Was tortured until She Lost All Normal Emotion

Ms. Lin Feng from Nanchong City was arrested after the Spring Festival of 2003. She was sentenced to a forced labor camp for three years and was sent to the Chengdu Prison. Because she did not give up practicing Falun Gong, she was injected with nerve-damaging drug that led to her losing all normal emotion. In addition, she became ill and was diagnosed as having late-stage stomach cancer. Her life is at risk.

5. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Mr. Wang Tao Was Arrested

Mr. Wang Tao is 27 years old. He is an employee in the Water and Electricity Department, Pingmei Corporation, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia. In late May 2005, the police and officers from the National Security Bureau of Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia arrested Mr. Wang through Internet monitoring. He is being detained in the Pingzhuang Police Station, Chifeng City.

6. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Mr. Wang Xinqian and Ms. Zhang Hongping Were Arrested

On May 23, 2005, the police unlawfully broke into Mr. Wang Xingqian's house, arrested him, and took away his computer and other equipment.

At about 9 a.m. on June 1, 2005, over a dozen police officers arrested Ms. Zhang Hongping from Xianning City, Hubei Province while she was riding by on her bicycle. Her current situation is unknown.

7. [Pingchang City, Sichuan Province] An Elementary School Teacher, Ms. Tu Xiufang from Hulu Town, Was Arrested

Ms. Tu Xiufang is an elementary school teacher in Hulu Town, Pingchang City. On May 13, 2005, police from the National Security Group of Pingchang County arrested her at her house. It is not known where she is detained.

8. [Guangdong Province] Ms. Wen Fenhua from Mianhu, Jiexi Arrested

At about 8 a.m. on May 30, 2005, the county police bureau, the 610 Office, and the town police station arrested Ms. Wen Fenhua from Mianhu Town, Jiexi County, Guangdong Province. Her whereabouts are unknown. At the time of her arrest, family members asked where she would be taken, but she was forcibly dragged away. Her four children, the youngest one being only one year old, and a 70-year-old parent were left at home with nobody to take care of them. Ms. Wen was taken to the brainwashing session three times last year. Each time she was tortured there.

9. [Yichang City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhao Xiong Arrested

On May 23, 2005, Mr. Zhao Xiong was arrested for distributing truth-clarification flyers on the street. He may be detained in the First Detention Center of Yichang City (86-717-6551775, 86-717-6553602).

10. [Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Wang Xinchun's Father Was Arrested Again

On April 9, 2005, three men led by Xiao Jingyu from the 610 Office of Jingshandun Town Yichun City broke into the Shoe-Repairing Store where Mr. Wang Xinchun works. They arrested Mr. Wang Xinchun, Mr. Wang Zhijian, and the person who was teaching Mr. Wang Xinchun how to repair shoes.

Several hours later, Mr. Wang Zhijian and the teacher were released, but Mr. Wang Xinchun was sent to Jingshandun Detention Center. There he went on a hunger strike to protest the unreasonable persecution and was later released. However, on the same day when Mr. Wang Xinchun was released, his father Mr. Wang Fengqi was arrested. He is now detained in the Jingshandun Detention Center.

11. [Shaanxi Province] Chen Laosan and Two Others from Shide Town, Liquan County Were Arrested

On May 23, 2005, two officers from "National Security" arrested Chen Laosan and two other Falun Gong practitioners from Dazhai Village, Shide Town, Liquan County, Shaaxi Province when they were distributing truth-clarification materials. Their whereabouts are unknown.

12. [Luoyang City, Henan Province] Mr. Cui Zhili Was Detained for Two Months and Is Now Facing Trial

Mr. Cui Zhili came from Gongyi. He worked in Luanchuan County, Luoyang City. On March 20, 2005, he was reported when he clarified the truth about Falun Gong on a bus. The Police Bureau of Luanchuan County arrested him and has detained him for two months. It was learned recently that he will face a trial.

13. [Helongjiang Province] Mr. Sun Shaomin Has Been on a Hunger Strike in Hulan Prison for 46 Days

For 46 days now, Mr. Sun Shaomin from Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province has been on hunger strike in Hulan Prison in order to protest the persecution. As a result, the inmates, prison guards, and prison doctors have brutally force-fed him. He has been deprived of sleep, shut in solitary confinement, brutally beaten, and violently tortured. He was tortured so severely that he is as thin as a stick and has difficulty breathing. His life is in imminent danger.

14. [Tianjin City] Ms. Li Tingying from Dongpuwa Town, Wuqing District Was Tortured

On May 24, 2005, Ms. Li Tingying clarified the truth about Falun Gong to villagers when she went to visit her relative in Sicundian. The Police Station in Sicundian arrested her. She is now detained in the Wuqing Detention Center where she is being tortured.

15. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Province] Ms. Zhang Wenjuan and Several Others Were Arrested

Since May 14, 2005, following the arrest of Ms. Zhang Wenjuan, Ms. Zhang Xiaoping and Ms. Shen Dongmei in Yinchuan City, Ningxia Province by the Yinchuan City Police Bureau, Ms. Tan Xiuxia and another fellow practitioner who worked in Shizuishan City were also arrested. The Yinchuan City Police Bureau also arrested Mr. Xi Hua, Mr. Qiao Jianhui, Mr. Cai Guojun, and Mr. Hu Jiancai from Yinchuan City. Ms. Feng Jianying's house was ransacked, and she is now forced to live on the street.

16. [Chongqing City] Mr. Xiao Fubi and Mr. Feng Feijing from Wulong County Were Arrested

On May 12 and 16, 2005, the National Security Group of the Wulong County Police Bureau, Chongqing City indicted, interrogated and detained Mr. Xiao Fubi and Mr. Feng Feijing. Subsequently, the police searched their homes and took away large amounts of books and materials related to Falun Gong. The police sentenced the two practitioners to detention.

17. [Shandong Province] Mr. Cheng Daoliang from the Victory Oil Field (the Gudao Oil Field) of Shandong Province Was Arrested

On May 27, 2005, the police arrested Mr. Cheng Daoliang from the Victory Oil Field (the Gudao Oil Field) of Shandong Province. They took him to the oil field's detention center.

18. [Hubei Province] Mr. Xiao Tingda, an Employee of the Electricity Bureau of Shiyan City, Was Arrested

On May 30, 2005, Mr. Xiao Tingda, an employee of the Electricity Bureau of Shiyan City, was secretly arrested and sent to the Wuhan City Brainwash Center.

19. [Liaoning Province] Ms. Feng Li from Chaoyang City and Yang Xiaodong from Jianping County Were Arrested

At about 10 a.m. on May 8, 2005, Ms. Feng Li and Ms. Yang Xiaodong were followed on their way to a fellow practitioner's house in Chifeng City. The police arrested them in the corridor on the first floor. The house they lived in before in a small region to the west of Gongxing Street, Songshan District was ransacked. On May 26, policeman Huang Dianxiang from the Police Bureau of Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province led five or six police officers in ransacking Ms. Feng's house. Both of them are being detained in the Detention Center of the Songshan District, Chifeng City, and they are being subjected to various tortures.

1. Huadian City 610 Office in Jilin Province Arrests and Sends Many Falun Gong Practitioners to Brainwashing Classes

Officials in the Huadian City 610 Office coordinated their efforts with the Hongshi Town 610 Office to conduct brainwashing classes in Hongshi Town (under Huadian City). The Huadian City 610 Office began arresting Falun Gong practitioners soon thereafter. We have learned that six practitioners were arrested, including Ms. Wei Shuhua, Ms. Gao Rui, Ms. Liu Shuzhen, Mr. Gong Maoqiang, and two additional practitioners, names unknown.

2. Persecution Details of a Seventy-Year-Old Woman Practitioner's Family in Zhuhai City

Ms. Zhao Juanjuan is in her 70's and lives in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province. She formerly suffered from stomach disease and high blood pressure. After cultivating Falun Gong, she became healthy and energetic. In order to avoid being persecuted, she left her home, and went to live in Guangzhou City. She was arrested in Guangzhou City in May 2004. She was detained in the Minfu Hotel in Zhuhai City for eleven months. The brainwashing of Ms. Zhao failed. The vicious authorities tried to send her to another brainwashing center in Guangzhou, but her blood pressure was too high, and the center was afraid to accept her. She was released in April or May of 2005. Her daughter, Lu Jianwen, is an English teacher employed by the Doumen Forth Elementary School. She was sentenced to two years of forced labor and was forced under pressure to give up her belief in Falun Gong during her time at the labor camp.
