Around noon on May 26, 2005, several policemen from Longhua Police Station in Longtan Precinct, Jilin Province, broke into the home of local practitioner Ms. Ming Yanbo. They ransacked her home and arrested her. They looted a CD burner, over ten boxes of photocopy paper, Falun Gong books, and many other items. At present, Ms. Ming is being held in Jilin City's No. 1 Detention Center.

The police also harassed six other local practitioners at their homes. They stole Teacher Li Hongzhi's portrait from practitioner Zhu and arrested practitioner Mr. Zhou. The police did not release Mr. Zhou until he made a compromise against his conscience.

Jilin City Longhua Police Station

After arresting Ms. Ming Yanbo, two policemen hid inside her home to wait for other practitioners to show up. Around 3:00 p.m. that day, practitioner Ms. Li Cuiling called on Ms. Ming Yanbo. The two officers surprised her and arrested her. During the incident, Ms. Li repeatedly shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!"

Around 8:30 p.m. that day, another practitioner passed by Ms. Ming Yanbo's home and knocked on her door. Two policemen burst out and snatched him. He resisted the arrest and successfully escaped.

After the police from Longhua Police Station arrested Ms. Li Cuiling and took her to the police station, they transferred her to Jilin City's No. 3 Detention Center. During the entire process, she repeatedly shouted out, "Falun Dafa is good!" Ms. Li started a hunger strike to protest the persecution against her.

On May 30, 2005, Ms. Li Cuiling's parents went to Longhua Police Station, demanding that the police release their daughter immediately and unconditionally. They asked Police Chief Li Yaodong why he had arrested their daughter. Chief Li made an abominable reply, "We arrested her because she shouted, 'Falun Dafa is good.'" Mrs. Li said disprovingly, "Everyone is free to shout out anything she desires. There are even people who condemn the Chinese Communist Party in public. Do you plan to arrest them all and shut everyone up? The bad economy has already taken a severe toll on people. My work organization has laid off a lot of employees and they can hardly make ends meet. You are only causing more aggravation with your unlawful arrests!" The police produced an unconstitutional arrest warrant and told Mr. and Mrs. Li to sign it, but they refused.

When it was time to get off work, Chief Li left the police station. Mrs. Li began to follow him. He asked her, "Why are you following me?" She replied, "I have decided to move to your home. You arrested my daughter for visiting her friend. Is there any justice?"

At 8:40 a.m. the following day, Mr. and Mrs. Li and other family members again went to Longhua Police Station to demand the immediate release of Ms. Li Cuiling. Chief Li Yaodong, a disciplinary staff member Mr. Li Hongyi, and Assistant Police Chief Liu Xichun were at the station when they arrived. Li Cuiling's family questioned them, "Why did you arrest Li Cuiling? Are there any legal grounds for the arrest?" Li Yaodong answered, "I made the arrest because she practices Falun Gong. I could care less if you report the arrest to anyone." The family decided to collect evidence of his involvement in the persecution against Ms. Li Cuiling and asked him to put in writing that he had made the arrest because Li Cuiling practiced Falun Gong. At that, Li Yaodong changed his statement and said that the order for her arrest had come from his boss. Li Cuiling's family then demanded to have a copy of the arrest warrant as evidence of the crime. Li Yaodong refused. Li Cuiling's parents and other family members argued with the police vigorously on the grounds of sound reasons and justice, and insisted on having a copy of the arrest warrant. Li Yaodong kept changing his statement. At one moment he said it had been filed in the cabinet and at the next moment he said it had been passed to his supervisor. Because Li Cuiling's family tenaciously insisted on having a copy of the arrest warrant, the police finally issued a new arrest warrant, which was just as illegal and unconstitutional as the first one. The police might appear to be fierce on the surface, but they are terribly frightened to leave any evidence of their crimes. When the policeman was issuing a new arrest warrant, he was dripping with perspiration and couldn't stop his hands from shaking.

Li Cuiling's parents and other family members are now preparing to go to Jilin City Public Security Bureau's Longtan Branch and other police organizations to demand Ms. Li's release.

About Ms. Li Cuiling

Ms. Li Cuiling was born in 1969. Her home address is 4-9 Xingfu Road, Gangyao Town, Longtan Precinct, Jilin City. Before she started practicing Falun Gong, she suffered from stomach cramps, backaches, and a spinal condition. She had a bad temper and was pessimistic about life. In 2000 she started practicing Falun Gong. All of her illnesses and discomfort disappeared. She became healthy, positive, optimistic, and peaceful.

Practitioner Ms. Li Cuiling

At the end of 2001, Mr. Lu Zhentai, the police chief of Gangyao Town Police Station, started to harass Li Cuiling at home from time to time. As a result, Ms. Li often had to stay outside and go into hiding. On the night of July 20, 2002, Lu and other policemen broke into her home and confiscated her collection of Falun Gong books and truth clarification materials, an audiocassette player and other personal items. In September 2002, the police arrested Ms. Li and took her to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun. She was put in the camp's No. 3 Platoon. Ms. Li resisted the persecution at the camp with righteous thoughts and never compromised her belief in Falun Gong in any way, despite the torture and violence against her. The police and wardens at the camp tortured her with forced feeding, electric shock with stun batons, and savage beating and kicking. They also humiliated her by stuffing her mouth with dirty rags used to mop the floor and many other insufferable methods of torture, but all in vain. In 2003, Ms. Li Cuiling was released unconditionally.

About Ms. Ming Yanbo

Ms. Ming Yanbo is a practitioner in Jilin City. She is 54 years old and resides in the northern part of Tuchengzi in the Longtan Precinct. She used to work at the Service Company of Jilin Chemical Company. She started practicing Falun Gong in March 1999. In August 2003, a man in Longhua Street in the Longtan Precinct lured her to the police station with lies while she was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to local people. The police imprisoned her in Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun and put her under the watch of the camp's No. 4 Platoon.

In mid-May of this year, my uncle Chen Wei was taken away by officers from the Feng County Police Department in Jiangsu Province. Since then there has been no news of him. To avoid being persecuted, my grandparents left town and did not return home.

In 1998, our family had the rare opportunity to become Falun Gong practitioners. A few months after my grandparents started to practice, their health vastly improved. In the past my grandfather's nickname was "the wine god." Because of his work, he drank and smoked frequently. After two months of practicing Falun Gong, Grandfather had a strange reaction to wine and cigars. Each time he saw these things, he would feel nauseous and get headaches. In time he slowly got rid of his smoking and drinking habits.

My grandmother was always busy with housework, which exhausted her. After practicing Falun Gong, her health improved and her skin looked younger. Our relatives who witnessed their changes were all very surprised, and all of them started to practice. I was also among them. At that time I was only a secondary school student. Falun Gong started to spread from here, and our house became the local materials site.

In January 2001, the fabricated "self-immolation incident" created much commotion. Family members started to oppose our practicing Falun Gong. Some of the practitioners who had just then started to practice gave up. But my grandparents, my uncle, and my mother did not give up. They persisted in the practice. My uncle was arrested and sent to the local brainwashing class in 2001. My grandparents and mother were also arrested together. In jail, they were still steadfast in their faith. Later they were all released. But thereafter, our house came under surveillance. Even though we had lost our former peace and happiness, my grandparents, uncle and mother persisted in practicing Falun Gong together.

In 2003, the local officer in charge of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners ordered the police to locate all the material sites. In the middle of the night, the police barged into my grandparents' house, ransacked their belongings, and found a lot of truth clarification materials. They once again took my grandparents away and locked them up in the forced labor camp for four months. Later they were released, but the police monitored them and would come into the house to check on them whenever they felt like it. To avoid persecution, my grandparents had no choice but to go to another town to live. We would visit them when we had the time.

Last month in a neighboring city, one fellow practitioner was not careful enough and was arrested by the police. He told them about the practice site at our house. The police took away all the equipment and arrested my uncle. To date, we have had no news of him.

Two weeks later, officials of the Women's Prison sent her back to Kaiyuan. The leaders of the Kaiyuan Detention Center, however, refused to take her back. After a joint meeting of the Kaiyuan Police Department, the Kaiyuan Procuratorate, the Kaiyuan Court and the Kaiyuan Political and Judiciary Committee, a decision was reached to send her back to the Women's Prison. Ms. Yin Wenlan is currently being held in Ward No. 4 of the Women's Prison in the Liaoning Provincial Prison Complex. Although her condition is serious, she must do forced labor in the prison.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Heng from Yongle Village, Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province was forced to leave his home to avoid being arrested by the police. However, he was later arrested in Beijing City, sentenced to three years of forced labor, and then a further year of forced labor. He suffered a stroke while he was incarcerated in the Baoding Labor Camp and died on June 12, 2005 after three years of paralysis. More details follow.

The police illegally searched and ransacked his home in April 2001 because he had clarified the truth to people. Police put his name on a wanted list. Mr. Li and his wife had no choice but to leave their home and became destitute in order to avoid being arrested where he lived. But police from the Babaoshan Substation captured and arrested him. He was tortured with a burning cigarette stuck in his nose, forced to sit on the tiger bench, forced to stand barefoot while wooden skewers punctured his toes, and shocked with an electric baton. He was then transferred back to his local detention center and was sentenced to three years in a labor camp.

To get Mr. Li to write a guarantee statement to not cultivate Falun Gong, the guards in Baoding Labor Camp deprived him of sleep, forced him to sit in a squat position while holding his knee for three days, forced him to stand while other prisoners beat him and shocked him with electric batons. These tortures nearly destroyed Mr. Li. His blood pressure was at 220 in 2002. The doctors found he had suffered a stroke. He was bailed out on medical parole but became paralyzed two weeks after being released. Nevertheless, police from the Shuangta Department frequently came to his home to harass him. Mr. Li Heng died on June 12, 2005.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Wensheng from Wudalianchi City, Heilongjiang Province, was brutal beaten by corrupt officials after he went to Beijing to appeal. The beating seriously damaged his heart, and he died in April 2000.

Mr. Wang Wensheng was only 34 years old and was employed by the Scenery Region Petroleum Company in Wudalianchi City. Mr. Wang, although young, had poor health and suffered from a number of serious illnesses including high blood pressure and kidney disease. After cultivating Falun Gong in April 1998, all his illnesses were eliminated.

Jiang and his regime began their coordinated persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. Because Mr. Wang Wensheng felt so many benefits from his practice of Falun Gong, he decided to appeal in person at the National Appeal Office in Beijing. On the way to Beijing, he was arrested by Ji County Police in Tianjin City. He was beaten severely for more than 24 hours from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. the next day. His entire body was covered with bruises, his face looked deformed and his jaw was dislocated.

Mr. Wang Wensheng was later picked up by the Wudalianchi City Police. His heart was severely damaged during the beating he received by the police in Ji County, and he was bailed out on medical parole. He went back to work after feeling better in the hospital. He was only back at work for three days when he was arrested again by the Wudalianchi City Political and Security Office. He was then released after paying five thousand yuan extortion money. Most of Mr. Wang's time in the detention center was spent receiving torturous beatings at the hands of the hard core prisoners who beat him with fists and kicked him into exhaustion.

From these torturous episodes, Mr. Wang Wensheng became very weak. His family had to pay another five thousand yuan to get him out on medical parole a second time. He spent an additional ten thousand yuan in the hospital. But the torture had its effect on his mind and body, and the damage was too severe. Mr. Wang died in April 2000.

The police arrested Ms. Zhang Lianxiu, 60, together with two Falun Gong practitioners on May 31, 2005. Officers from the Shangqiu Police Department battered Ms. Zhang Lianxiu on June 2 and she died from the beatings. The whereabouts of the other two Falun Gong practitioners are unknown.

Mr. Li Jingang, 49, was a resident of Bin County, Heilongjiang Province. Mr. Li started to practice Falun Gong in April 1996 and experienced a dramatic improvement in his body and mind. After the authorities started to persecute Falun Gong, Li Jingang persisted in practicing. He went to Beijing in June 2000 to appeal for Falun Gong, but as a result was illegally imprisoned for two months. In November 2001 Li Jingang was again illegally arrested by the local police and imprisoned for one month. The two prison times and resultant tortures enormously harmed his health. His body showed signs of serious illnesses, with the symptoms persisting for a long time. He passed away on January 4, 2005.

Ms. Pan Shuxian, 65, was a resident of Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. She started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. Prior to Falun Gong practice Pan Shuxian had many kinds of illnesses. Extensive and lengthy treatments did not help. When the symptoms became serious she couldn't even walk. After she started to practice Falun Gong, her body and mind improved and benefited. Within a few short months, all of the many health problems from which she suffered had vanished into thin air. Jiang Zemin began the persecution on July 20, 1999, and Pan Shuxian had a relapse of brain illness in the spring of 2000 and died.

Ms. Wang Cuifen, who is in her 60s, was a physician of Chinese medicine in Gucheng County, Hebei Province. In the spring of 1998 she started to practice Falun Gong, and all of her illnesses vanished. After July 20, 1999, when the persecution began, her family members feared that she would get into trouble, so they forbade her from practicing Falun Gong. Wang Cuifen had a heart attack in the spring of 2004 and passed away.

Ms. Jiang Guixian, 52, was a resident of Zhengkou Town in Gucheng County, Hebei Province. After July 20, 1999 when the evil regime began suppressing Falun Gong, she was arrested and sent to a brainwashing class. Policeman Shao Li and others confiscated her family's property. The cadre of the division, along with 610 Office personnel, frequently threatened her. During the summer of 2000 she had a brain hemorrhage and died a sudden death.

Ms. Jia Xiushun was a resident of Qinghanzhen Village in Gucheng City, Hebei Province. In 1998 she started to practice Falun Gong, and all her illnesses disappeared. She was a changed person. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, she was arrested, sent to a brainwashing class, and fined. Because Jia Xiushun was afraid, she gave up the practice. She died soon thereafter of illness in January 2001.

1. [Bazhou City, Hebei Province] Four Practitioners Abducted and Sent to the Langfang Brainwashing Class

Between May 8 and May 16, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners Li Hua and Jin Litao from Tangerli Town were arrested. Officials from the Bazhou City 610 Office, the Dongduan Township Political and Judiciary Committee, and the Dongduan Township Police Station in Hebei Province were responsible. The practitioners were sent to the Langfang Brainwashing Class.

Practitioners Ji Xiaoqing, a student, and Wang, a teacher at the Nanmeng Township Middle School were abducted. Zuo Benzhong, head of Bazhou City's 610 Office, and his roughnecks were responsible. The practitioners were sent to the Langfang Brainwashing Class.

2. [Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Including Yao Yuzhen Abducted

Under orders from the Guangyuan City 610 Office, officials from the Cangxi County 610 Office ransacked the homes of practitioners Yao Yuzhen, Feng Kehan and one other practitioner who live at the Chansang Bureau dormitory in Cangxi County, Guangyuan City. This happened around 10:00 p.m. on May 30, 2005. They took the practitioners to Guangyuan City overnight.

3. [Jing County, Hebei Province] Practitioner Mr. Jia Shijian Abducted by Police While Reading Minghui Weekly on the Train

On May 14, 2005, police arrested practitioner Mr. Jia Shijian, an employee of the Jing County Tobacco Bureau in Hebei Province, for reading a copy of Minghui Weekly on a train. He is currently being held at the Jing County Detention Center.

4. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Practitioner Mr. Wu Tao Abducted for Handing out Truth Clarification Flyers

On May 19, 2005, officers from the Caoshi Street Police Station abducted 30-year-old practitioner Wu Tao from Chengdu City when he distributed truth clarification flyers. The police officers called Wu Tao's wife on his cell phone and tricked her into telling them her home address. They subsequently ransacked Wu Tao's home.

5. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Song Chengmin Abducted by Officers from the Jintie Police Station for Distributing Truth Clarification Materials

At noon on May 22, 2005, officers from the Jintie Police Station abducted practitioner Song Chengmin from Jinzhou City when he was handing out truth clarification flyers. He is currently being held at the No. 2 Detention Center in Jinzhou City.

6. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Perpetrators from the Changyi 610 Office Abduct Practitioners

On May 19, 2005, practitioner Ms. Gao Xiuhua from Changyi City was abducted and held at the Changyi City Detention Center. On May 27, the police told her family that they could bail her out with 5,000 yuan. Her sister-in-law Chen Meiying, a practitioner from Xiaomeng Village, Beimeng Town, and Ms. Liu Huifang, a 40-year-old practitioner from the same village, went to the detention center in the morning on May 28. Authorities from the 610 Office detained them.

Around 2:00 p.m. on May 28, 2005, led by officers from the Beimeng Police Station, officials from the Changyi City 610 Office in Weifang city broke into the home of practitioner Liu Huifang in Xiaonanmeng Village in Beimeng Town and ransacked it. They took an HP copier, a box of Tianxin copy paper and a paper cutter. Later that same evening they went back to Liu Huifang's home. They also ransacked practitioner Chen Meiying's home. Liu Huifang and Chen Meiying are being held at a detention center.

7. [Suifenhe City, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Ms. Sui Xianzhi Detained at the Suifenhe City Detention Center

Between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on May 17, 2005, 57-year-old practitioner Ms. Sui Xianzhi from Suifenhe City was abducted in front of her home by local police officer Yuan Chunhong. She is currently being held at Suifenhe City Detention Center.

8. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhang Shuyu Abducted for Clarifying the Truth

On May 3, 2005, 60-year-old practitioner Mr. Zhang Shuyu from the Dongli District of Harbin City went to the home of one of his students in the Dongli District to clarify the truth. His student's family reported him to the police. Officers from Dongli District Police Department abducted him. He is currently being held at Dongli District Police Department.

9. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Ms. Qi Yaru Sentenced to Three Years of Forced Labor

In mid-April 2005, practitioner Ms. Qi Yaru, in her 40s, from the Xiangfang District in Harbin City, and her 12-year-old son waited for a bus outside the Liushun Police Station on Sanfu Street in the Xiangfang District. The deputy political head from the Liushun Police Department, a local police officer, and police officer Zhou abducted and took them to the police department. Without following any legal procedures, they ransacked Ms. Qi's home. Ms. Qi Yaru has been illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor and is being held at the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp.

10. [Xinjiang Autonomous Region] Practitioner Ms. Tao Ying Tortured at the Xinjiang Women's Forced Labor Camp

In 2005, the authorities at the Xinjiang Women's Forced Labor Camp intensified the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Guard Li Zongping shocked practitioner Ms. Tao Ying with electric batons. The guards ordered inmates and drug addicts Liu Peipei, Zhu Hong, Zhu Jing and Chen Zhimin to beat Ms. Tao until her body was covered with wounds. On April 29, when they conducted a so-called safety inspection, guard Li Zongping and drug addict Zhu Hong dragged Ms. Tao by her hair into a small room to search her. Group heads Ayinuer and Teng Li ridiculed Ms. Tao and encouraged the drug addicts to torture the practitioners.

11. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Four practitioners Abducted by Police

Around 5:00 p.m. on March 8, 2005, about eight officers from the No. 1 Luyuan District Automobile Bureau in Changchun City broke into the homes of practitioners Li Zhenjie, Sun Shuying, Li Zhenyu and another male practitioner and abducted them.

Li Zhenjie and Sun Shuying are being ruthlessly tortured at the No. 3 Detention Center in Shuangyang. Li Zhenyu has escaped with the power of righteous thoughts, but the male practitioner's condition is unknown.

12. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Mr. Pan Gang Detained in Solitary Confinement for Doing the Falun Gong Exercises

Mr. Pan Gang was transferred to the Weizigou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City on March 30, 2005. He was detained in solitary confinement on March 31.

At 11:00 p.m. on May 28, 2005, police arrested 29-year-old practitioner Ms. Guo Chunhua when she was distributing truth-clarifying materials. She is being held at Wuhan City's No.1 Detention Center.

During the afternoon on May 11, 2005, practitioner Zhu Jiwen from Jining City, Shandong Province was arrested and put into the Wulitun Detention Center.

15. [Beijing] Mr. Jin Yumin Arrested for Refusing to Sign a Statement Guaranteeing Not to Quit the Chinese Communist Party

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jin Yumin is an employee of the No. 25 Division of the Beijing Aeronautical Materials Research Institute. Because he refused to cooperate by participating in the Chinese Communist Party's "advanced activities" and insisted on renouncing his membership in the CCP, Liu Jianzhong, the secretary of the division's Party Committee, had many talks with him and attempted to coerce him to write a statement guaranteeing that he would not renounce his membership in the CCP, but Mr. Jin refused.

On May 17, Liu Jianzhong once again tried to coerce Mr. Jin into writing a guarantee statement to remain a CCP member, but practitioner Mr. Jin refused again. On May 18, Mr. Jin was arrested at work and held in Beijing at Liangxiang, which is perhaps in a brainwashing class. His whereabouts are unknown.

At around 9:30 on May 25, 2005, personnel from the Wenquan Police Station broke into the house of practitioner Mr. Yu Shuwen at the Jinquan Residential Community and arrested him. They later transferred him to the Weihai City 610 Office. Mr. Yu is currently being held at the Weihai Detention Center.

17. [Tancheng County, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Yanle Arrested for Distributing Falun Gong Truth-Clarifying Materials

On April 12, 2005, personnel from the township police station arrested practitioner Mr. Zhang Yanle from Zhaodun Village, Yangji Township, Tancheng County, Linyi City for distributing truth-clarification materials. Police put Mr. Zhang into the Tancheng County Detention Center but released him after extorting 20,000 yuan from his family.

18. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yan Yuanrong Arrested for Distributing Truth-Clarifying Materials

During the evening of May 9, 2005, police arrested practitioner Ms. Yan Yuanrong from Yiminfan, the Huangzhong Community, Chengdu City, when Ms. Yan distributed Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. They put her into the Pi County Detention Center in Chengdu City. On May 13, personnel from the Huangzhong Community Office looked for Ms. Yan, finally locating her in the detention center. Then they led the police to Ms. Yan's home and ransacked it. The family is in anguish and cannot lead a peaceful life.

For distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials, practitioner Liu Xindang, an employee from the Wulong Gold Mine in Dandong City, was arrested on May 27, 2005.

20. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Yu Qiumei Held at a Brainwashing Class

About two weeks ago, practitioner Ms. Yu Qiumei, in her 60s, a retired employee from the Langfang City Oil Pipe Administration Bureau Employee College, was arrested and put into the city's brainwashing class for clarifying the truth of Falun Gong in Beijing. According to insiders, Ms. Yu has been expelled from her post and her Party membership has been cancelled.

During the morning on May 27, 2005, practitioner Mr. Li Guocai, in his 50s, was arrested when distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials at a market. Following that, 12 people from the Ziyang City Police Department and from the Jianyang City Police Department, in conjunction with others from the Jiancheng Town, ransacked his home at Jieyue Village in Shiqiao Town. They also demolished his son's home in the Zaojiao Community on Anxiang Street, Jiancheng Town. Now Mr. Li Guocai is being held at Jianyang City Detention Center.

23. [Xushui County, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Ailing Detained in the Baoding City Forced Labor Camp for Clarifying the Truth of Falun Gong

In November 2004, practitioner Ms. Zhang Ailing from Nanbeili Village, Shiduan Township, Xushui County, Baoding Area, was arrested for clarifying the truth of Falun Gong. Later she was sentenced to forced labor. Now she is being held at the Baoding Forced Labor Camp.

1. Ms. Liu Chaoying, Ms. Zheng Yanrong and Ms. Wang Xuemei, and Others Still Tortured in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

The villains in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp are still torturing Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Liu Chaoying is 33 years old. She was sentenced to three years of forced labor in 2002 and was forced to accept the brainwashing. She solemnly declared the brainwashing to be null and void on November 10, 2004, and for that had her term extended three additional months. She has been tortured by being handcuffed to the bed and having her term extended two more months. All of the following practitioners were tortured because they refused to wear the camp uniforms. Ms. Zheng Yanrong and Ms. Wang Xuemei were handcuffed to the bed and deprived of sleep for three entire days. Ms. Wang Xuemei was later locked up in the storage unit, handcuffed to a metal shelf, and forbidden to use the toilet or eat meals. The prison guards would not allow her to change her clothing while she was having her period. Ms. Liu Jingxia, Ms. Wang Guiling, and Ms. Shi Guijie were also handcuffed to the beds and only allowed to sleep from midnight to 4 a.m. Ms. Shi Guirong and Ms. Yan Chunjiao were locked in small cells. Ms. Liu Huarong, Ms. Yan Chunjiao, and Ms. Wu Shuqin were dragged into the hallway and beaten by male guards. Ms. Zhang Xiuqin and Ms. Yang Fengying were beaten by Camp Director Zhao Laixi (male) and guard Liu Chunjie (gender unknown)

2. Unable to Pay Bail Money, Mr. Huang Jinru Still Abducted by Police

Practitioner Mr. Huang Jinru from Hekanzi, Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province, is 61 years old. On May 12, 2005, Lingyuan City State Security Agents abducted eight practitioners in Hekanzi and locked them in a detention center. By May 20, 2005, seven of the practitioners (all except Mr. Huang Jinru) were released after their families paid 3,000 yuan to the State Security Division and 100-600 yuan to the detention center. The State Security Division demanded that Mr. Huang's family pay 8,000 yuan, but they had already paid 6,000 yuan and were not able to come up with the additional 8,000 yuan because of their financial position. Mr. Huang is still being detained because his minor child cannot pay.

3. Persecution Facts of Teacher Ms. Wang Heqin from Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province

Ms. Wang Heqin is a teacher employed by the First High School of Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province. She has been arrested six times since the persecution of Falun Gong started and has been sent multiple times to brainwashing classes. She has also had her home ransacked more than once. Her mother, Ms. He Jingming, was beaten on March 29, 2002, by local 610 Office personnel, resulting in a severe spinal injury. She was sent home to die and could not take care of herself for more than three months. However, she recovered gradually after practicing the Falun Gong. On July 18, 2004, Ms. Wang Heqin was followed and abducted by the local police and was detained for 15 days. On January 20, 2005, Ms. Wang was followed, abducted and detained again while mailing truth-clarification materials at the post office. Inside the Liupanshui City First Detention Center, Wang Heqin refused to cooperate, had her hair cut off, and was tortured. On April 26, 2005, Zhongshan District Court put Ms. Wang on trial but were unable to convict her because of Ms. Wang's righteous questions. Ms. Wang is still being held at the detention center.

4. Persecution Facts of Mr. Chu Zhenqi's Family in Mandarin Autonomous Prefecture of Fengning County, Hebei Province

The family of Mr. Chu Zhenqi from the Mandarin Autonomous Prefecture of Fengning County, Hebei Province, includes his wife Wang Guozhen and their daughters Chu Lianrong and Chu Lianxia. After July 20, 1999, Mr. Chu Zhenqi, his wife Wang Guozhen and their first daughter Chu Lianrong went to Beijing to appeal. They were all arrested and detained in the Fengning County Detention Center. Ms. Wang Guozhen and her daughter Chu Lianrong were detained for more than three months and had to pay a large amount of money in extortion. In May 2000, Mr. Chu's family of four went to Beijing to appeal again. They were all arrested and detained in the county detention center until August 23, 2000. They were brutally beaten inside the Office of the County Police Criminal Justice Division. Pan Zhanwu (male) tortured them in the detention center by using ankle shackles. Mr. Chu Zhenqi was put in shackles for 40 days, while his wife and first daughter wore the shackles for 15 days. Ms. Wang Guozhen was abducted from her home in September 2000 and sentenced to three years of forced labor at the Tangshan Labor Camp. On November 3, 2000, Mr. Chu was also abducted and sent to the Tanshan Labor Camp to serve a two-year term. In December 2001, Ms. Chu Lianrong (their first daughter) went to Beijing to appeal the third time. She was detained for more than one month and was then sent to the Gaoyan Labor Camp to serve a three-year term. Their second daughter Chu Lianxia became destitute and homeless for one year to avoid being arrested at her home. Nevertheless, she was still captured by police but returned home after paying extortion. On December 23, 2004, the police went to first daughter Chu Lianrong's home to search it. Police abducted Ms. Chu and her husband and detained them in the county detention center. They were both sentenced to three years forced labor and are serving their terms in the Gaoyang Labor Camp. Practitioner Mr. Wang Xishun was also reported to the police while passing out truth-clarifying materials in Dagong Village in March 2005. He was abducted the next day and sent to the Raoyang County Detention Center, detained for one month, and then sentenced to one year of forced labor at the Gaoyang Labor Camp.

The police in Linyuan City, Liaoning Province continue to persecute Falun Gong practitioners

Zhao Guohai, head of the Wafangdian Police Station in Linyuan City, Liaoning Province, Liu Shaoquan, the political head of the police station, Chen Guojun and others arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Du Haijiang at his home on June 3 and detained him.

The police from the Linyuan National Security Division had previously arrested practitioner Ms. Huang Jinru. They tried to extort 8,000 yuan from her family for her release. When the family refused to pay, they refused to release her. Ms. Huang is being held at the Chaoyang Forced Labor Camp.

A student's parent reported practitioner Ms. Lai Caijun, a teacher at the Chaoyang Street Elementary School in Linyuan City, when she clarified the truth about Falun Gong in school. The police arrested her in November 2004. Then in early 2005, they secretly sentenced her to four years in prison. Ms. Lai appealed, but the court held a secret trial on May 13, 2005, and did not change the original verdict.

Practitioner Ms. Dong Xiuqin, also a teacher at the Chaoyang Street Elementary School, was arrested and sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp where she was tortured until she suffered a nervous breakdown. After she went home and went to work, she quickly recovered.

The school fired Ms. Lai Caijun after she was arrested. The head of the police department called Ms. Dong Xiuqin's husband and had him come over. When Ms. Dong learned of this news, she had flashbacks of the torture she suffered at the labor camp and had another nervous breakdown.

Xu Haiming and other perpetrators from the Huaibei Prison's 610 Office in Shandong Province torture Falun Gong practitioners

Directed by Xu Haiming, head of the Huaibei Prison 610 Office in Shandong Province, deputy head Sun Jisheng and secretary Wang Wensheng torture the practitioners in the prison.

Newly arrived practitioners are forced to watch and listen to Falun Gong-slandering videos and audiocassettes. Practitioners who refuse to write a guarantee statement are beaten and kicked; the guards choke them by tightening their hands around the practitioners' necks. If they are still determined, Sun Jisheng and Wang Wensheng shock the practitioners with electric batons in an attempt force them to write the guarantee statements.

More than half of the 100 practitioners held at the Huaibei Prison have been shocked with electric batons. Guard Zhao Bing shocks the practitioners' heads, mouths and ears.

Practitioner Ms. Zhou Jian lived in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. Prior to his practicing Falun Gong, he was convicted of robbery and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was held at the Shandong Province Prison where he became a Falun Gong practitioner. At the Newly Admitted Division at Huaibei Prison, Mr. Zhou refused to "reform". Division head Zhao Bing and other guards then shocked him with four electric batons simultaneously. Mr. Zhou remained determined. The guards stopped when the battery ran out. They then placed Mr. Zhou in solitary confinement for 22 days and gave him only a steamed bun and a half glass of water for each meal. Mr. Zhou remained steadfast in his belief.

In February 2003, guards Xu Haiming, Sun Jisheng and Wang Wensheng started another round of persecution when the Education Division's 610 Office held a brainwashing session. Under Xu Haiming's orders, Sun Jisheng and Wang Wensheng took turns torturing Mr. Zhou. They deprived him of sleep for five days and nights. Six inmates monitored him. They beat and kicked him whenever he closed his eyes. In the end, they transferred Mr. Zhou to Division 1. In order to resist the persecution, Mr. Zhou held a hunger strike in solitary confinement. When he was on the brink of death, the guards sent him to a hospital. Mr. Zhou did the Falun Gong exercises at the hospital. Because Mr. Zhou refused to reform, the Huaibei Prison refused to release him until his sentence expired.

Torture at Group 2, Division 1 at the Heilongjiang Women's Prison

Falun Gong practitioners who resist the persecution are force-fed, detained in solitary confinement, beaten and kicked. The practitioners are bruised and their bodies are black and blue from beating. Practitioner Ms. Chen Weijun was force-fed with the result that her throat and nose bled; she was nauseous, dizzy and disoriented. Practitioner Gao Guizhen's face was scratched. After the torture, one of practitioner Guan Shuling's arms became disabled. The guards violently pushed practitioner Ms. Zhang Jing to the ground, injured her pelvic bone and bruised her arms and legs. They also pushed practitioner Ms. Fan Guoxia, causing a bump on her left elbow and many bumps on her legs.

Atrocities committed by the Dehui City police in Jilin Province: The tiger bench torture, force-feeding cold water, suffocating by wrapping the practitioner's head in a plastic bag

On March 4, 2005, Mr. Bian Hongxiang, a practitioner in Dehui City, Jilin Province and an 11-year-old girl named Bai went to Changchun on an errand. The police arrested them. The police brutally beat Mr. Bian and pinched his fingers with a torture tool called "pinch sticks." Mr. Bian was sent back to Dehui City and was detained at the Dehui Hotel, the location of the 610 Office. The police handcuffed him and tightened the cuffs until they cut deep into his flesh. They beat him until he fell to the ground. Then they stomped on his wrists while he was handcuffed. His hands immediately swelled and his wrists bled. They tortured him with the tiger bench. They also force-fed him with cold water and almost suffocated him by placing a plastic bag over his head, making him lose consciousness several times. The guards furthermore deprived him of sleep and otherwise tortured him for seven days and nights.

Mr. Bian was on the brink of death and was sent to the Dehui City Detention Center. He was diagnosed with [contagious] tuberculosis and was released.
