Hongweixing Prison in Daqing City released practitioner Mr. Wang Hongde a few weeks ago. On his release, Mr. Wang was on the verge of death as a result of being tortured in prison. On April 30, 2005, fifteen days after his release, Mr. Wang passed away.

Mr. Wang Hongde, 56, was an employee of the Xinhua Power Generation Plant in Datong District, Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. After the persecution started in July 1999, Mr. Wang persisted in his belief. Therefore, the Datong District police unlawfully detained him twice (15 days each time), in March 2000 and February 2001. After the second detention, Mr. Wang was forced to leave his hometown.

In spring of 2001, Mr. Wang invested over 200,000 yuan, planting seedlings and cactus, in Beijing and Tangshan. However, the contractor and persecutors from the Yutian County Police Department (in Tangshan City) did not honor his contract and forbade Mr. Wang from conducting his business. Their excuse for not honoring the contract was that Mr. Wang was a Falun Gong practitioner. As a result, Mr. Wang suffered extensive financial losses.

On April 26, 2002, staff from the Yutian County Police Department arrested Mr. Wang and ransacked his home in Tangshan City. They found and confiscated 11,000 yuan, calling it a "fine." Because Mr. Wang refused to give up his belief in Falun Gong, the persecutors sentenced him to a 5-year prison term. On August 16, 2003, Mr. Wang was sent to Hongweixing Prison in Daqing City.

On the first day, some training group guards beat and tortured Mr. Wang with leather belts. As a result, his hands were swollen, his palms were bleeding, and half of a tooth in his upper-right jaw was broken off. During the illegal detention, staff from the prison's "Education Section" (610 Office) forced him to watch video programs slandering Falun Gong. They tried to brainwash him and tortured him mentally.

Around December 2002, Mr. Wang suffered a heart attack as a result of the torture. He fell into a coma. He was then diagnosed with severe heart disease (mitral stenosis and third-degree heart weakness). At that time, Wang Hongde's family members asked the prison to release him for medical treatment. His family asked for compassionate leave many times. However, the prison authorities refused their requests. A guard even said, "We would rather see a Falun Gong practitioner die in here than releasing him or her for medical treatment."

On January 14, 2005, family members of Mr. Wang received a phone call from someone in the prison, who told them to go to the prison with 2,000 yuan - the persecutors wanted to release Mr. Wang for medical treatment. On April 30, 2005, 15 days after he was released, Wang Hongde passed away.

Recently, persecutors in Hongweixing Prison launched a new round of persecution of practitioners. It is rumored that practitioner Jin Sheng, who was sent to the prison in 2002, had been tortured so severely as to be on the verge of death. Jin Sheng's family members requested a visit, but the authorities in the prison have refused their request.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Guo Shijun, a resident of Hongqi Town, Nangang District in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, was sent home after he was tortured to the verge of death at the Harbin Labor Camp. Guo Shijun died 8 days later at noon on February 9, 2005. The staff of the Harbin Police Department, Nangang Branch and the Hongqi Police Station took his body away and cremated it on the night of March 29, 2005, without informing any of his family members.

In order to escape their responsibility and cover up their crime, before sending Guo Shijun back home from the labor camp, the camp policemen drew up a document stating that Guo Shijun had "two kinds of cancers." Mr. Guo's family and relatives doubted this as the cause of death, so they didn't bury his body, and were going to have an autopsy conducted to determine the real cause of his death. They intended to take care of the burial after that.

Guo Shijun's wife couldn't support the family after his death. She had to leave with her son and go to another village in order to survive.

In order to determine the cause of Guo Shijun's death, local practitioners obtained approval of his family and did some examination of his body when they changed his clothes. There were numerous wounds all over his body, without a good patch of skin anywhere. He had been shocked and beaten with high voltage electric batons and kicked with boots. Even his anus and genitals were deformed and had turned black, and he had suffered a rectal prolapse. What cruel, excruciating pain that must have caused! We couldn't determine what kind of damage had been done to his internal organs. We recorded the body on video, and took some pictures. We published these pictures on the Internet to let more people know the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong, and understand the real face and lies of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party).

Without an official autopsy report, the staff of the Harbin Police Department Nangang Branch and the Hongqi Police Station took Guo Shijun's body to be cremated on the night of March 29, 2005, but his family was not informed of this at all. This was done to destroy any incriminating evidence, to deceive people, and to avoid being accused of any wrongdoing.

Mr. Wang Wenju, 38, was an English teacher at the Tanggou Middle School in Xiuyan County, Liaoning Province. He began practicing Falun Gong in 2004. He was arrested for clarifying the truth in class and subsequently sentenced to prison. Around March 20, 2005, Mr. Wang was sent to Shenyang City for further torture. Later he was transferred to the Nanhuayuan Prison in Fushun City, where he died on April 27 from the persecution.

Before Mr. Wang died, he had been on a hunger strike and was force-fed with highly concentrated salt water. When he asked the authorities to pull out the feeding tube so that he could resume eating, the prison officers demanded that he provide a written guarantee that he would continue eating and not go on a hunger strike again. Mr. Wang rejected this demand and the officers encouraged an inmate named Chi Qin to torture him. Chi Qin, in turn, ordered another inmate to flick his fingers against Mr. Wang's eyes, causing his eyes to turn black.

I am the wife of Falun Gong practitioner Li Jingsheng. Li Jingsheng began practicing Falun Gong at a time when his health was very poor and his life was in serious danger. Falun Gong gave him a new and healthy life, until, after suffering from relentless physical and mental torture during the persecution of Falun Gong in China, he passed away.

1. From suffering an incurable disease to obtaining a new life in Falun Gong

Li Jingsheng was born on October 31, 1965 in Beijing. When he was five years old, he was found to have congenital heart disease and a "ventricular septal defect," causing the vein and artery blood to mix. After exerting only a small amount of effort he would experience shortness of breath and his lips and face would turn black. Because of the high lung-artery blood pressure, surgery would have been too dangerous. He was told that people with this problem usually die in their teenage years. He was excused from all physical education classes in school, and he could never play with other kids. Jingsheng was smart and talented in music, but he could not go to college because his health problem prevented him. Later, he became a guitar player through his own arduous effort.

Li Jingsheng had a crisis of life and death when he was 19. He coughed up a lot of blood, but received medical intervention in time and was rescued.

We got married in February 1997. In November, in Chengdu, Jingsheng coughed up a lot of blood, and was sent to the hospital. He coughed 200-300 ml of blood every day while at the hospital, and I received two "critical condition warnings" in one month. We had to have somebody carry him home when he left the hospital. During Jingsheng's recovery period in Chengdu, he had gone to some Buddhist temples and learned some unrighteous Qigong practices, which caused him mental confusion to the extent that he almost wanted to kill himself.

In April 1998, we moved to Shenzhen. Shortly after that, Jingsheng started coughing up blood again. Medical experts and doctors said that the functioning of his heart and lungs was already very weak, so he could not do any labor; he could not even sing. He was ordered to stay home and rest. What the doctors implied was that all my husband could do was wait to die. Another possibility was to try to replace the heart and lungs through surgery, but the possibility of success was very small. At that time, he could hardly breathe after walking for only a few hundred feet.

One day in May, Jingsheng ran into some Falun Gong practitioners in a park and borrowed a copy of Zhuan Falun. Thus, he started practicing Falun Gong. After one week of practicing, Jingsheng already felt better. He had increased energy when walking, and he stopped taking the medicine for controlling his heartbeat.

After one month of practicing, Jingsheng's health situation had improved a lot, so he started looking for a performing job, and got one singing in a restaurant in a 4-star hotel. Together, we performed three and half hours every night, taking a 15-minute break every 45 minutes. At the beginning it was hard for him to maintain his strength, but later he became stronger and more energetic. It is quite exhausting to play the guitar and sing continuously. It is amazing that a person who had been sentenced to death by the doctors was able to do this. This is the manifestation of Falun Gong's power. Moreover, Jingsheng went from being a selfish person to a selfless person who always considered others first. Because of his health problems, he had a very bad temper, but after learning Falun Gong, he was able to control his temper and always looked inward when encountering conflicts.

Because we were willing to accept less pay than other musicians, we were able to sing in that hotel for a whole year. That year was the happiest one of my life. We went to a nearby park at 5:30 a.m. every morning to do the exercises, then to the group Fa-study, and then to the hotel to sing at night. We often attended Fa-spreading activities in our spare time. We were happy and our lives were full and meaningful.

We moved back to Beijing in June 1999. The evil persecution started after July 20--just one month later. Jingsheng wrote letters based on his own experience of cultivating Falun Gong, and went to the Beijing City government and appeals' offices to appeal for Falun Gong. He was detained, and the leader of his workplace bailed him out. My husband was later detained again and jailed for two weeks. In June 2001, he was unlawfully detained for several days. After being released, he went to Tiananmen Square. The following is Jingsheng's experience in his own words:

"On June 25, 2001, I went to Tiananmen Square to do the Falun Gong exercises and appeal for justice for Falun Gong. A policeman jumped out of a police car and ordered me to stop doing the exercises. I called out, 'Falun Dafa is righteous. Give us a peaceful practice environment.' I shouted several times. The policeman then violently kicked me in the ribs before I was forced into a police car and taken to a police station. In the police station, I was in so much pain that I could not breathe. Later, they took me to another police station. I was still in severe pain. When they were taking me to the detention center, I asked them to check my ribs. They took me to a police doctor. The doctor said, 'You Falun Gong practitioners have no sickness. You are just pretending.' After I insisted again, they examined my ribs and found the underlying tissue injured, but I was still unlawfully detained. I went on a hunger strike to protest and kept doing the exercises. Thirty-seven days later, I was able to sleep on my left side (I had been unable to lie on my left side due to the injury to my ribs). I was taken to Tuanhe Labor Camp. Since I was not allowed to do the exercises in the labor camp, I felt pain in my left ribcage now and then. I asked for a comprehensive physical examination, but I was ignored. After I was released, my body never recovered. Since October 2001, my body started swelling and it has become very serious now. I cannot take care of myself. I cannot walk up or down the stairs, and I cannot lie down on my back. Eating a little food causes stomach pain, and moving a little bit makes my face turn black with shortness of breath."

After Jingsheng was arrested, his family and I lost contact with him. We didn't know he was jailed in the labor camp until several months later, when Tuanhe Labor Camp asked us to send money for his living expenses. We heard that he refused to be "transformed," and often went on hunger strikes. His sentence was one and a half years, but it was unlawfully extended. It was the beginning of 2003 when I saw my husband again. I was told that I could go visit him because he had already been "transformed." When I saw him, he was very weak. Even walking was hard for him because he had just ended a hunger strike. It is said that he had been on more than 50 hunger strikes, which is the most in Tuanhe Labor Camp. Because we were being watched, we could not express our real thoughts, but I could tell that he was in serious pain.

After being jailed for two years and four months, Jingsheng was released on October 24, 2003. When he got home, he was so weak that he had to lie in bed all the time. He was also very depressed because he had given in to the pressure to renounce his beliefs. Under the torture in the labor camp, he wrote the three statements. He was overcome with regret and self-blame. He knew that Falun Gong had given him life, but he gave in to the evil under torture and did things that betrayed his conscience. He was suffering severe physical pain and mental anguish.

The evil CCP's terror is everywhere. The residents' committee and police were still watching Jingsheng, putting him under a lot of pressure. He was not able to step forward to clarify the truth. He was in such agony that he wanted to kill himself, yet he knew that suicide was wrong. He nearly suffered a mental breakdown due to the pressure. Fortunately, fellow practitioners were still taking care of him, and helped him to make it through that difficult time.

After being released, Jingsheng suffered endless mental torment. He said that he was not afraid of death, but he was afraid of being forced to say and do wrong things. He told me that, in the labor camp, when the torture was most serious, he was deprived of sleep and food. He was beaten by several policemen and his arm was almost broken. Even long after his release, he could not stand any pressure on his wrist. In the intensive brainwashing class, he was forced to sit on a small stool for more than 10 hours, and he was tied onto a big wooden board, not able to move a bit. His sight and hearing were badly damaged due to the torture, and his brain was also damaged. As a result, his reactions were very slow.

With fellow practitioners' help and through studying the Fa, his situation improved gradually. After studying the Fa intensively and communicating with fellow practitioners, Jingsheng had the courage to write a "Solemn Declaration" to invalidate the renunciation statements that he had been forced to write. He also made truth-clarifying VCDs. He did all he could to clarify the truth and save the sentient beings who had been deceived by the evil CCP's lies.

However, after suffering the long-term imprisonment, the brutal torture, long-term confinement in a small cell and having all contact with others cut off, both his body and mind were badly injured. After his release, the huge mental pressure and pain caused by the evil CCP's terror made him unable to completely recover.

In June and July 2004, Jingsheng told me that he felt that he could not live anymore. I didn't pay enough attention to it. I thought that he was just imagining things. In October, his body started swelling, and in November the swelling became very serious, starting from the legs, and spreading to the whole body. He could hardly move, and moving just a little made him breathless. At the end of November, Jingsheng moved to his parent's place, and his situation became very serious. He was not able to fall asleep or lie on his back, because he could not breathe.

On November 30, we took him to the hospital. The doctor said he had a serious kidney disease, and he needed to stay in the hospital. However, there was no bed available at that time. At 7 a.m. on December 13, my friends and I were about to take him to the hospital again, but when we tried to wake him up we found that he had already left us in his sleep.

The Community Committee deputy director, Ms. Sun Aihua, a Falun Gong practitioner from the Northeast Village, Huancui District, Weihai City, Shandong Province, was 49 years old when she died. When Ms. Sun Aihua left for Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in May of 2000, she was illegally detained by the authorities for fifteen days. After being released, Ms. Sun was moved to the community nursing home to work as a cook. The people who persecuted her in this way were Jiang Xianguo, the office management secretary from Huancui Street, Huancui District, Weihai City, Sha (surname), the Political and Judiciary office secretary and Zhang Yuxiu, the Community Committee director from the Northeast Village. Ms. Sun was only provided with basic living expenses.

In March 2001, the" 610 Office" from Huancui District started their first brainwashing center. Jiang Xianguo ordered Sha and Zhang Yuxiu to forcefully take Ms. Sun, who was working at the time, to the brainwashing center, where she was subjected to further persecution. Ms. Sun's family was not informed of her whereabouts. With strong righteous thoughts, Ms. Sun easily escaped the brainwashing center and went directly to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong again. After returning from Beijing, Ms. Sun was again forced to leave her home and she had to move from place to place for a period of time in order to avoid arrest. On July 19, while staying at her aunt's home, Sun Aihua was abducted by policeman Liu Jinhu from the No. 1 Section of the Huancui District Police Department. She was detained at the Weihai City Detention Center. Without any evidence against her, the authorities illegally sentenced Sun Aihua to three years of "re-education through forced labor." However, the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp refused to accept her because she had high blood pressure. Therefore, Ms. Sun was illegally imprisoned in the detention center. Later, she was released from the detention center due to her rising blood pressure. However, she was still forced to work in the kitchen of the community nursing home. Sun Aihua suffered terribly from this ongoing persecution, both physically and mentally. She died on October 17, 2003.

Seventy-three-year-old practitioner Mr. Jin Xiaolei from Shizuishan City, Ningxia Province, was a retired worker from the Shizuishan City Second Ore in Ningxia Province. Through practicing Falun Gong, he completely recovered from over ten separate ailments. After July 20, 1999, when the persecution of Falun Gong began, Jin Xiaolei was abducted by the police. He was repeatedly harassed and suffered serious mental trauma, causing a relapse of a previous condition resulting from a stroke. At the end of April 2002, policemen from Dawukou broke into Jin Xiaolei's home to search for Falun Gong materials, and Mr. Jin's wife was taken away. In 2003, the police illegally searched his home again. They detained his wife, and in order to "transform" her, they subjected her to forceful brainwashing during time of Mr. Jin's stroke relapse. He was unable to care for himself and he suffered serious mental and physical stress. Mr. Jin died on January 5, 2004.

It has also been reported that practitioner Ms. Mo Ping from Shizuishan City was illegally arrested, and the authorities secretly sentenced her in 2004. Many practitioners were forcefully taken to the brainwashing center for persecution. The police frequently came to practitioners' homes and harassed them. On the afternoon of November 17, 2004, a group of policemen broke into practitioner Ms. Li Zhixiang's home and confiscated her family's belongings. They took Ms. Li to the Shizuishan City No. 1 Detention Center.

The following are some examples of practitioners who had incurable illnesses before they practiced Falun Gong, who soon recovered their health after beginning the practice. However, after the evil persecution started, they were threatened and persecuted by the authorities. These practitioners lost their peaceful environment to practice freely, and thus, their poor health returned.

Mr. Liu Hanyou, 75, was a retired cadre from the Agricultural Department of Lanshan District, Linyi City, Shandong Province. After he began practicing Falun Gong in October 1995, his lung cancer was cured without any medical treatment. Since the persecution of Falun Gong started in July 20, 1999, Liu Hanyou's home was illegally ransacked twice and he was fined 6,000 yuan. His wife was also illegally detained twice. From February to May 2003, the Linyi City 610 Office repeatedly ordered collaborators and the police to go to Mr. Liu's home to harass and threaten him. Liu Hanyou died on May 19, 2003.

Mr. Zheng Yanwen, 30, was a staff member of Lanshan District People's Hospital, Linyi City, Shandong Province. He couldn't work due to uremia. After he started to practice Falun Gong in December 1998, the incurable illness disappeared and he went back to work. On February 21, 2002, Mr. Zheng went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong and was threatened many times by the 610 Office staff. He passed away on April 1, 2003.

Ms. Wang Xiulan, 42, was a bank employee in Xizang Autonomous Region. She had hyperthyroidism and lung cancer. She was so ill that she went to her hometown of Linyi City, Shandong Province to make funeral arrangements. On February 20, 1999, Ms. Wang started practicing Falun Gong. Three days later, she was able to get out of bed and move around. Half a year later, she went to the hospital for an exam and found that all her illnesses had disappeared. However, she died on May 4, 2002 under the threats and harassment of the persecutors.

Mr. Li Dushen is from Wuhan City, Hubei Province. He started practicing Falun Gong in November 1998. Prior to the practice, he had liver cancer and his doctor told him to prepare for his death. A few months after learning Falun Gong, his liver cancer was cured, as well as other illnesses. Later, Mr. Li's hair, beard and eyebrows returned to their normal black color. After July 20, 1999, the police station, the Residents' Committee, the Sub-District Office and the Unit Retirement Office went to Li Dushen's home every day to harass him. They didn't let him practice and threatened him with dismissal from the CCP. They also said that his family and relatives would be implicated. Mr. Li was so frightened that his old illness recurred. He died on October 21, 1999.

Mr. Lan Xinzhi, 67, was a retired staff member of Beet Station from Acheng City, Heilongjiang Province. He had uremia, but was cured after he started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. After July 20, 1999, Lan Xinzhi was frequently harassed and threatened by the police. He was greatly harmed in mind and body, which caused the old illness to recur. Lan Xinzhi died on October 23, 2001.

Ms. Sun Guihua from the Shanxi area was arrested while appealing on behalf of Falun Gong in Beijing in November 2004. She was sentenced to two years of forced labor. The local 610 Office also extorted 5,000 yuan from her.

Falun Gong practitioners from Hunyuan County, Shanxi Province were transcribing Master Li's new articles at home in January 2005. The police unlawfully broke in and arrested three people. The police extorted 10,000 yuan from two of them. The other was unlawfully sentenced to two years of forced labor.

On the night of March 31, 2005, Mr. Feng Jian from Fushun City was arrested. His whereabouts are unknown. His younger sister, Ms. Feng Yajun, has been looking for him. The police sent Mr. Feng's friend to ask her out first, and then followed and threatened her.

Mr. Li Xingguo lives on Liaonan Street in Shuangliao City, Jilin Province. On February 17, 2005, when he was clarifying the truth in the Liaonan Street community, Ren Zujun, director of the community, called the police. Jin Guirong, head of the Political Security Division of the Shuangliao Police Department, Zhou Yu, also from the police department, led by officers from the Liaonan Street Police Station, broke into Mr. Li's home for an unlawful search. Mr. Li was arrested and sentenced to three years of forced labor. His whereabouts were unknown. After more than three years in prison, Mr. Li returned to Shuangliao City at the end of 2003. He lived in the community under surveillance.

Soon after his arrest, Mr. Chi Yunpeng, an employee of the Shuangliao Television Station, was also arrested and sent to the Shuangliao Detention Center.

On the afternoon of March 28, 2005, elderly Mr. Cen Xuedong from Huangshi City, Hubei Province was arrested by Huangshi City state security officers and officers from the Xisanshan Police Department. It has been reported that the police have taken Mr. Cen to a rented room in the Shiwuye Hotel in Huangshi City for custody. The police mentally abused him in order to extract from him the source of his Falun Gong materials.

Ms. Jiang Liangyan, 58, is from Heshun in the Nanhai District of Foshan City, Guangdong Province. After she started practicing Falun Gong, all her illnesses disappeared. She has become energetic and told others the magnificence as well as the truth of Falun Gong. The police learned about this and arrested her at home. She was initially held at a detention center. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

Around April 1, 2005, Mr. Jin Changchun from Yanji City was arrested by Yanji police. It has been reported that the police had long placed his phone under surveillance. His temporarily rented home was ransacked and his wife was arrested at the same time. So far, it has been learned that the police confiscated one personal computer, two printers, and Falun Gong books.

On the morning of March 30, 2005, officers from Yangshu Town Police Station in Dehui City, Jilin Province arrived at Ms. Chang Yawen's home in Yangcao Village. They arrested her. It has been learned that she has been taken to a brainwashing center in Changchun City.

It has been reported recently that Ms. Wang Shurong and Ms. Duan Jiazhi were being severely tortured in the Jiangshuiquan Forced Labor Camp in Jinan City. They have suffered multiple injuries as a result of being handcuffed for extended periods, electric shocks, and vicious beatings. Their arms are numb, and their lives are in imminent danger.

On April 1, 2005, Ms. Yu Muying, an employee of the Heshengqiao Town Environment and Hygiene Institute in Xianning City, was arrested at her home by the local police. She is being held and persecuted in the city's detention center.

Ms. Gao Yajuan is from Xinxing Village in Erdaowan Town, Fuyu County, Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province. She tried to clarify the truth to the village Party secretary and was turned in to the police. She is being held in the Fuyu County Detention Center.

On the afternoon of March 7, 2005, Ms. Zhou Huijuan, who had been away from her hometown for over four years, was buying some groceries in a supermarket in Beijing. Suddenly several police officers showed up and forcibly took her to the police station. Prior to her arrest, the police had ransacked her rented home, confiscating one personal computer, 2,000 yuan in cash, one depository receipt with 2,000 yuan in the bank, one cellular phone, and truth clarifying materials.

The police tortured Ms. Zhou in order to force her to reveal the names of more practitioners. Only after about one week later, when Ms. Zhou started to lose consciousness, did the police notify the Liaocheng City 610 Office in her hometown to take her back. She was taken back to a brainwashing center, publicly known as the "education and transformation base" for continued abuse. So far, she has remained on a hunger strike for twenty-seven days.

Mr. Liang Yumin is from Muling City, Heilongjiang Province. In February 2005, he went to a small village in Xiachengzi Town to distribute truth clarifying materials. Officers from the town's police station arrested him and sent him to the Muling City Detention Center. In early March, Mr. Liang was sentenced to two years of forced labor and sent to the Sidao Forced Labor Camp in Mudanjiang City.

On March 10, 2005, Mr. Jiang Hantong from Xiangxin Village in Longtan Township, Xiuyan, Anshan City was arrested by officers from the township's police station. Mr. Jiang is being held at Xiuyan. He has been unlawfully sentenced to forced labor.

On May 31, 2001, Ms. Liu Dongmei was arrested for publishing a declaration on the Minghui website stating that she would start practicing Falun Gong again. She was unlawfully sentenced to three years in prison. After her release at the end of her term, officials of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics refused to let her come back and expelled her from the position she held.

On September 28, 2001, Ms. Yin Houmei wrote a solemn declaration to start practicing Falun Gong again. Before she could send it out, officers from Beijng Police Department broke into her home under the excuse of housing property maintenance and arrested her. The police conducted an unlawful search and confiscated 5,000 yuan, one desktop computer (worth 11,000 yuan), and two notebook computers. Several days later, Ms. Yin was transferred to the Jinzhou City State Security Department and Police Department. Officials from the No. 1 Division of the police department intended to extort 50,000 yuan from her family and ended up taking the entire 40,000 yuan from her home. Her request for a receipt was rejected.

At 11:00 a.m. on March 15, 2005, Wang Feng from the Zhenping County 610 Office and officers from the political security group in Chengguan Town broke into Ms. Wang Chuanyan's home. Ms. Wang is a physician. The officers ransacked her home, confiscated personal belongings and Falun Gong materials. Ms. Wang has since been held at the county's detention center. She has gone on a hunger strike protesting the unlawful arrest and torture.

1. Please Rescue Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Liu Fanxin from Chongqing City

Ms. Liu Fanxin is in her 50s, and is a Falun Gong practitioner from Beipei District, Chongqing City. She was severely mistreated after she exposed the rape of young female graduate student Wei Xingyan of Chongqing University. On June 22, 2003, Ms. Liu Fanxin was detained in Dadukou District Detention Center, where police officers Hua (gender unknown) and Wen Fanghong (female) tortured her by hanging Ms. Liu by her handcuffed wrists from a metal window frame. Her lower back was injured by the window ledge, and both of her hands have been disabled ever since this abuse took place. Additionally, one of her shoulders has remained dislocated since the torture session. Between June and December 2004, the police tried three times to send Ms. Liu to Yongchuan Women's Prison, but she was rejected each time due to her severe injuries. She is still detained at the Dadukou District Detention Center.

Army official Mr. Rao Rongxuan was forced to retire in July 2000 because he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. On April 26, 2001, Mr. Rao Rongxuan was abducted and taken to Xinhua Forced Labor Camp, located in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province. In the labor camp, Mr. Rao was tortured by being bound, brutally beaten, and force-fed drugs, and subjected to other abuse. When his prison term ended, Mr. Rao returned to his home town of Yongchuan City. On April 26, 2003, the Yongchuan City 610 Office arrested 26 Falun Gong practitioners, including Mr. Rao. Mr. Rao held a hunger strike to protest, which resulted in his being force-fed and brutally beaten. During one of the beatings, the guards grabbed his hair and slammed his head into a wall. He was then shackled, which caused extreme pain to his feet. He was tortured at that prison for a month. On June 21, 2003, Rao Rongxuan was arrested again. In September 2004, the courts sentenced him to seven years in prison. On December 6, 2004, Mr. Rao Rongxuan was sent to the Yongchuan City Prison.
