The Falun Dafa Associations in Australia call upon the Australian Government to offer immediate asylum to Chinese diplomat Mr Chen Yonglin and to fully examine his allegations of Chinese spies operating in Australia.
For six years Falun Dafa practitioners in Australia have been subject to a wide range of interference and harassment orchestrated by the Chinese Embassy and consulates in this country. These incidents include physical threats, harassing phone calls, damage to property, salacious misinformation about the practice of Falun Dafa and attempts to adversely influence local councils and events organisers to exclude us from community functions.
Over the years we have encountered a number of suspicious characters masquerading as Falun Dafa practitioners and some members of the Chinese community have actively assisted the Embassy and consulates in their anti-Falun Gong campaign. We therefore have no doubt that Mr Chen's statements about Chinese Communist Party infiltrators in Australian society are absolutely true.
Such infiltrators are not like "spies" from the Cold War era. They could be highly skilled technicians or scientists working for a big corporation, they could be running a Chinese language newspaper, they could own your favourite restaurant or they could be your family doctor. They are hard to spot because they appear to be living perfectly normal lives, but when they come across some information that will be useful for the Party they diligently report back to Beijing. The effect of this network has led to many Falun Dafa practitioners being on a travel black list, having their phones monitored, homes broken into and such serious incidents as Mr David Liang being shot in South Africa.
Yesterday the Chinese Ambassador to Australia made a speech in which she poured scorn on Mr. Chen's claims stating that: "This is not the 1970s. We have moved on." Certainly this is what China wants the world to believe and they have worked tirelessly in recent years to present a benign face to the world. At the same time the treatment of Falun Gong practitioners has become even more ruthless with the current recorded death toll reaching 2,336.
The Ambassador also commented that she saw no reason why Mr Chen would face jail in China "because there is no civil crime in his behaviour". However, Falun Gong practitioners in China have not committed any crime either - yet they face torture and death simply because of their peaceful beliefs. And when exposing the atrocities committed against Falun Gong practitioners is labelled as "leaking state secrets", how can we really expect Mr Chen to escape retribution for exposing the secrets of the Chinese Communist Party in Australia?
To expose the reality behind the ambassador's rhetoric we need look no further than a report in the Hong Kong Standard on 1 March 2005 regarding an article in the Chinese Communist Party's Qiushi Magazine by top security official Luo Gan. Luo Gan stated that: "The disturbance and destruction from hostile forces in China and abroad constitutes a serious threat to social stability in a strategically important period in our country."
Luo Gan further stated that intelligence work must be stepped up to "smash their activities". He also said: "We must insist on actively attacking them, as soon as they emerge, to take early action to keep the enemies under control." Luo called once again for renewed efforts to eradicate Falun Gong. In addition, CCP ideologues have reprimanded the Foreign Ministry for being rife with "political corruption" and called for more political education in the diplomatic corps.
Journalist Catherine Armitage suggested in Monday's Australian that: "If he is ever repatriated, Mr Chen will probably be whisked from the airport direct to jail." We know of no reason to disagree with that statement and would therefore request that the Australian Government uphold the principles of liberty, compassion and "a fair go", which constitute the foundations of our democracy, and immediately grant Mr Chen asylum.
Yours sincerely

Since Jiang Renzheng was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp in China shortly after his whole family was deported from the German city of Wuerzburg, Falun Gong practitioners in Wuerzburg have organized five events in the city center to call for Jiang's release. Most members of the public said they already had some knowledge of Jiang's arrest from the city's media. People deplored the German government's bad decision while gaining a lot better understanding of the persecution Falun Gong practitioners are suffering in China.
Everybody hoped the German government would immediately rescue Jiang Renzheng. Some people who had lived in Eastern Germany said with deep feeling that the Communist Party only brings tragedy, suffering and dictatorship. Its reign of terror must end before people can be happy and free.
Local Falun Gong practitioners wrote to the City Council members, the Mayor and Members of Parliament asking for their support. An MP wrote back right away, expressing his regret for such a violation of human rights. A Vice Mayor, who has always been supportive of Falun Gong, and a city councilor immediately signed the petition which asked the German Government to rescue Jiang Renzheng.
Practitioners took advantage of any opportunity possible to tell people the truth about what should not have happened in Germany and the on-going brutal persecution in China. They told the public: If it had not been for China's persecution of Falun Gong, this tragedy would not have happened. Mr. and Mrs. Jiang once took part in many activities in Wuerzburg to rescue Falun Gong practitioners persecuted in China. When they were deported to China, Mr. Jiang was arrested and sentenced to a forced labor camp. Now it's our turn to rescue him. Touched by this story, people signed the petition one after another.
On the 28th of May, the German Foreign Affairs Department organized a cultural event. Many immigrant communities participated. To take advantage of this opportunity, a practitioner who is good at dancing made a special trip from another city to perform. She talked to her fellow performers during the intermission and told them about Jiang's situation. When she them asked for petition signatures, people were thrilled to chat with her as her dance was particularly impressive. Her efforts had a great impact.
Falun Gong practitioners in Wuerzburg will find more ways and create more opportunities to tell people about the persecution in China and call for rescuing Jiang's family and their return to Germany. When everyone knows the truth, the evil persecution will end.
On the afternoon of June 5 (Sunday) from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Falun Gong practitioners from Keelung City, Taiwan held an anti-torture exhibition in the bustling Aisan Road bus terminal at the center of the city, to clarify the truth to the local residents. The practitioners reenacted the tortures that Falun Gong practitioners are subjected to in Mainland China, so that people could learn the truth about this brutal persecution and work together to help end it. Many people signed their names on a petition to support the effort.

A waist drum team performed, accompanied by the music, "Falun Dafa is Good." The stirring drumbeats marked the beginning of the anti-torture exhibition. The live torture reenactments included the Tiger Bench, piercing the fingers with bamboo sticks, being locked in a small cage and being burned with an electric iron. These represented only a tiny portion of the torture methods used by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) against Dafa practitioners, but they were very shocking to the people of Keelung. They found it preposterous that such tortures still exist in the 21st century. Some people read the display boards describing more cruel tortures and listened to the practitioners discussing how this was only the tip of an iceberg and there were over a hundred torture methods being used on Falun Gong practitioners in China. The practitioners explained that some of the tortures were so unspeakable that it was not appropriate to display them in public, but said that people could learn more about the situation by visiting Dafa websites.

Most of the people saw the anti-torture exhibit for the first time and the scene shook their hearts. Many said that the Chinese Communist Party was so cruel and evil. A middle-aged man was in tears and said that the CCP was so ignorant of the law. A woman also wept when she saw the tortures reenacted. She said that she could not imagine how anyone could bear such tortures and said that Falun Gong practitioners' inner strength was so admirable. An elderly gentleman watched the torture reenactment for a long time and finally said, "I have watched for over 20 minutes. These practitioners playing the torture victims have been exposed under the hot sun for such a long time. But they don't move even a little bit. They are so peaceful and serene. A normal person wouldn't be able to bear this."
Many people gathered to watch the anti-torture exhibition. Someone asked if those were wax figures, real people or models. Some took images with their cell phone cameras so as to show their friends and family members. One university student carrying an expensive camera said he had a personal website, and his blog has thousands of hits daily. He said he would write an article about the anti-torture exhibition and put it on his blog, together with images. Two high school students called their classmates and told them about the Communist Party's inhuman tortures, and asked their friends to come immediately and see for themselves.

The exhibition took place near the famous Keelung Harbor, close to the well-known Miaokou Taiwan Snacks and railway station. On Sunday, there were a lot of people, both young and old, passing by the place. The day before the exhibition was the 16th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre (June 4, 1989). Many people still had a vivid memory of the massacre. When they saw that the Chinese Falun Gong practitioners were inhumanly tortured in Mainland China, many people said they knew the Communist Party's evil nature had never changed, and their methods had only become more cruel and brutal. Most people immediately understood the evil nature of the CCP.
Even under six years of brutal persecution, Falun Gong continues to endure and grow. There are still millions of practitioners cultivating Falun Dafa, and Dafa has spread to over 60 countries throughout the world. Many people realized that Falun Gong must have something special, and many people wanted to learn Falun Gong.
The whole afternoon, beautiful Dafa music was playing continuously during the event. Many people were moved. One practitioner who played a victim being tortured said that during the exhibition, her tears kept falling. She felt that the Mainland practitioners were so great, and under such a harsh situation they were still clarifying the truth and saving the peoples with great compassion, truthfulness and tolerance. Another practitioner who played the role of a wicked policeman also happened to be a real policeman in Taiwan. People asked him how he performed so well. He said, "Policemen in Mainland China who persecute Falun Gong are behaving like criminals. So I just played the role of a thug."
