Mr. Yang Xifeng was a Falun Gong practitioner from Handan City, Hebei Province. After he practiced Falun Gong, he recovered from his illnesses, including cerebral arteriosclerosis and diabetes. Ever since the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, lawless persons from the police station and the street committee have harassed him, searched his home, and arrested him. Police officer Yan Junren from the Congdong Police Station forcibly sent him to a detention center to persecute him, which resulted in a relapse of his old illnesses. He became very weak and unable to keep his balance while walking. He died on October 24, 2002.
Mr. Yang was 60 years old. Before practicing Falun Gong, he suffered from cerebral arteriosclerosis, duodenal ulcer (which hemorrhaged three times), and diabetes. His blood sugar level was extremely high, causing him partial blindness and severe heart problems. In 1995 he began practicing Falun Gong, after being introduced to the practice by an acquaintance. Within a few months his health improved significantly. He could eat anything and work normally. In early 1998, he rode his bicycle to a place about 50 miles away to spread the Fa, a 100 mile round-trip. Afterwards, he didn't feel tired, even though he took no breaks along the way. After beginning Falun Gong practice he never needed another dose of medicine, which lessened the financial burden on his workplace, as well as on his family.
After the persecution of Falun Gong began, lawless persons from the police station, the street committee, and the residential committee often harassed him. To tell people that Falun Dafa is good, Mr. Yang distributed Falun Gong materials on the evening of August 30, 2001 and was illegally arrested by officers from the Congdong Police Station. At about 9:00 p.m., An Zhenzhi from the Congtai Police Station and Yan Junren from the Congdong Police Station led six officers in two police cars to search Mr. Yang's house. They confiscated 16 tapes, Falun Gong books, truth-clarifying materials, a copper incense burner, his ID card and other items.
After two days of torture in the police station, the authorities sent him to the No. 1 Detention Center. The detention center authorities refused to accept him because he failed the health entrance exam. The next day they ordered him brought to a medical school for a check-up. The result was even worse than that obtained in the detention center. Yan Junren asked for the signature of the Congtai District Police Department chief and sent Mr. Yang to the detention center a second time. The detention center still refused to accept him. Policeman Yan Junren then went to the City Police Department and asked for the police department head's signature, saying that as long as Mr. Yang has a breath left the detention center must accept him for detention.
Mr. Yang was thus forcibly sent to the No. 1 Detention Center to be persecuted. In the detention center Mr. Yang not only couldn't study the Fa or do the exercises, he was subjected to all sorts of tortures. Within just one month his old illnesses relapsed. The police station authorities were afraid to take responsibility, so they reported the state of Mr. Yang's health to the Congtai District Police Department, suggesting that he be released. The Politics and Security Section personnel in the District Police Department said that Mr. Yang must be reexamined. One day, the Politics and Security Section notified Mr. Yang's family to bring him to the hospital to reexamine his health. Once his family found a car and went to the detention center to take Mr. Yang home, the detention center authorities claimed that it was too late [in the day] and told them to come back on another day. Two days later Mr. Yang was taken to the Central Hospital to be reexamined. His blood and urine sugar levels were much higher than normal and he also had heart problems. Regardless, the police authorities still refused to release him. Mr. Yang's family asked for help everywhere. In late September 2001, the police authorities ordered his son to pay 5,000 yuan to have Mr. Yang bailed out for one year.
After returning home Mr. Yang's body was very weak. He couldn't even keep his balance while walking. Even so, the Congdong Police Department authorities still ordered local police and street committee personnel to harass him. Sometimes they went to his home after 11:00 p.m. These terrifying circumstances made it impossible for him to rest. Mr. Yang died on October 24, 2002.
(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Wan Jixiang was an employee of the Yincheng City Department of Industry and Commerce (Dongmafang Sub-Bureau) in Yincheng City, Hubei Province. He was cruelly persecuted at Caidian Detention Center in Hanyang City. As a result, he became deaf in his left ear. On June 28, 2003, Mr. Wan was sentenced to Qingduankou Prison, where he suffered unbearable stress and had to perform excessive, hard labor. His hair turned gray, and the pain in his left ear intensified. On May 24, 2005, he died from the persecution.
Mr. Wan Jixiang, 37 years old, had suffered many illnesses before he began to practice Falun Gong in 1997. Two weeks into the practice, his illnesses were cured. He was a tax-collector and was responsible for collecting management fees from vegetable merchants. Before he practiced Falun Gong, he often had arguments with these merchants. As a practitioner, he lived by the principles, "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance." He treated people honestly and fairly. He would pay the fees for the elderly who could not afford to pay. In 1998, he was chosen as a model worker by his workplace.
Within three months after Jiang's regime started his persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Wan was detained three times for a total of 47 days. During his detention, his salary was suspended. He was forced to pay 600 yuan in "living expenses" to the detention center, and another 5,000 yuan as a so-called "earnest-fee." In the middle of winter, he was forced to wear shoes soaked in ice water and stand barefoot in a bucket filled with ice water. He shivered from the cold. His arms were covered with scars from cigarette burns. Several times, he was so viciously beaten by criminal inmates that he lost consciousness.
In January 2001, police from Dongmafang Police Station sent Mr. Wan to the Yincheng City No. 1 Detention Center. Mr. Wan's father was deeply disturbed because of the mistreatment of his son and suffered an anxiety attack. He succumbed to the pressure and passed away. In September 2001, staff from Dongmafang Police Station and the local 610 Office tried again to arrest Mr. Wan and ransacked his home. Mr. Wan was forced to become homeless to avoid further persecution. This did not prevent the police and staff from the 610 Office from frequently harassing his wife and daughter.
Eight months after Mr. Wan left home, he was arrested at Zhongjia Village, Wuhan City. Police officer Cheng Changming and a dozen other officers interrogated Mr. Wan. They pushed him to the ground and stepped on his head. He was put in handcuffs and shackles. One of the police burned his chin with a lighter. Mr. Wan was detained first at the Hanyang No. 2 Detention Center, then at Caidian Detention Center. While he was at Caidian Detention Center, the police ordered inmate Li Yuhua to torture Mr. Wan, using a number of different tortures. Mr. Wan was beaten daily. As a result, his body was covered with black and purple bruises, and his left ear became permanently deaf.
On June 28, 2003, Mr. Wan was sentenced and taken to Qingduankou Prison. The guards at the prison instructed prisoners to beat Mr. Wan. They forced him to squat down for a long period of time. They also threatened, "If he is not "transformed" within a week, torture him until he dies." Under unbearable pressure and excessive hard labor, Mr. Wan's hair turned gray. His left ear became more painful. In addition, a tumor was found in his throat that caused severe pain. Later he was diagnosed with throat cancer. Prison authorities did not want to pay the medical costs and were afraid that Mr. Wan would die in prison. To evade responsibility, the prison told Mr. Wan's work unit, his family and his local police station to apply for a medical parole. However, Nie Moshan from the State Security Unit of the Yincheng Police Department postponed completing the required documentation over and over again. Finally, after continued urgent requests by Mr. Wan's family and numerous phone calls from practitioners worldwide, clarifying the truth and requesting Mr. Wan's release, Mr. Wan was released for medical treatment in 2004.
Immediately after his release, Mr. Wan was fired from his job. He no longer earned an income. He was extremely weak and suffered intense pain. He was not able to care for himself. In the morning on May 24, 2005, Mr. Wan died.
Ms. Chen Weijun is a Falun Gong practitioner from Nenjiang County, Heilongjiang Province. The following is a description of some of the tortures that Ms. Chen suffered at the Shuanghe Women's Labor Camp in Qiqihar City.
She has been hung up, force-fed and jailed in a small cell 1 meter wide and 2 meters long. She was locked to a metal ring cemented into the floor of the cell, which was infested with bugs, toads and mice. A criminal named Li Xiaoyang caught a big toad and purposely put it in the cell. Sometimes Ms. Chen awoke to find the toads on her body.
Chen Weijun was continuously monitored and tortured by criminals at Shuanghe Labor Camp from April to May 2004. Division head Wang Yan beat practitioners with electric batons because they did the Falun Gong exercises together. Chen Weijun's lower back and legs were covered with dark bruises from the beating. Practitioners were jailed in the small cells and hung up with their hands tied behind their backs and with only their toes able to touch the ground from morning to night.
During the day a criminal named Zhang Jing took practitioners one by one to a room that was used solely for beating people. Several criminals would ask the practitioner if he or she still intended to practice Falun Gong. If they answered "yes," the criminals beat and kicked the practitioners. Some practitioners started hunger strikes to protest the unlawful persecution. Zhang Jing and other criminals force-fed them. They used an iron spoon, a screwdriver or chopsticks to pry open practitioners' mouths, which often broke their teeth. Zhang Jing used an iron spoon to open Chen Weijun's mouth and seriously injured her gums, which caused Chen Weijun's face and nose to swell for long time. After prying her mouth open, Zhang Jing inserted a plastic bottle into Chen Weijun's mouth. Then she removed the bottom of the bottle and poured very salty corn gruel into her mouth. Zhang Jing also force-fed practitioners with cornbread which had been discarded in a toilet. Practitioner Xiang Aizhen was force-fed with water every 2 hours, which caused a lot of pain.
Chen Weijun started a hunger strike and performed the Falun Gong exercises in the small cell. Zhao Jing sat on her stomach. The prison doctor surnamed Chen inserted a tube into Chen Weijun's stomach, pulled it out and inserted it again. He also shook the tube in Chen Weijun's stomach to torture her, causing Chen Wejun to throw up. The doctor threatened her, saying, "If you dare to throw up on me, I will cause you extreme pain."
Prison doctor Chen force-fed practitioner Xu Jinfeng, causing a nosebleed so severe that the blood sprayed the wall. Practitioners Fu Hui, Xu Quanfeng, Wang Guofang and Wang Yanjie were forced to bend down for 24 hours because they performed the exercises. They were also jailed in a small cell for several months. They were given only a small piece of cornbread every day. Their hands were tied behind their backs, and the cornbread was placed on their knees. They had to strain their bodies to reach the cornbread. If they accidentally knocked the cornbread off their knees, no one would help them retrieve it.
In July 2000, practitioners started a hunger strike to protest being beaten for doing the exercises. Police group leader Wang Mei's husband, who is the guard team leader, along with other strong guards, force-fed the practitioners. They held the practitioners' heads back by clutching their hair and fastened them to a chair. While stepping on the practitioners' feet, they used a spoon, screwdriver or chopsticks to stab their gums and pry apart their teeth, and then they poured salty corn gruel into their mouths. The police left the corn gruel in the hallway, which was filled with flies and other insects. The cereal went bad very quickly on the hot days, but they still fed the practitioners with it.
The unlawful police also applied a torture called "carrying a sword on the back." During this torture, the practitioners' hands are tied behind their backs, with one hand over the shoulder and the other hand against the lower back. Practitioners' hands became swollen very quickly. They gagged Chen Weijun's mouth with a dirty cloth and then sealed it with tape. Policemen and criminals beat her. They hung her up, not letting her down even when she had to go to the washroom. Chen Weijun passed out twice during the torture.
Once, Chen Weijun was hung up just because she tried to do the exercises. Her roommate, practitioner Li Ping, refused to go to sleep and insisted on waiting for Chen Weijun. A policeman then forced her to go to sleep. He pushed Li Ping down several times, and dragged her into the hallway. Chen Weijun saw this and yelled, "Don't beat people." The policeman turned back and asked, "What did you say?" Chen Weijun answered, "You should not beat people." The policemen yelled, "Say it again!" Chen Weijun said it once again. The policeman then hit Chen Weijun in the face, grabbed her by the hair and took her outside. Li Ping's head was jammed between two tree branches, and her hands were locked to the ground. The police forced Chen Weijun's head between the tree branches too. Later, the two practitioners were both hung up in the hallway on a single rope for the entire night. If one moved, the other one had to move too.
One night, several collaborators came to "transform" Chen Weijun. Chen Weijun noticed that one of them still had Falun Gong in her heart, so she recited Master's articles and Zhuan Falun to that person, which woke up the enlightened side of that person and she decided to write a solemn declaration to make up for betraying Falun Gong. However, a police officer stopped her, and separated her from Chen Weijun. The next day Chen Weijun's sentence was lengthened by 3 more months, and she was sent to an even smaller cell within a small cell.
The small cell was only 1 meter wide and 2 meters long. There were 2 iron rings on the ground, and a 1-foot square vent on the wall. It was completely dark with the door closed. The guards locked Chen Weijun to the rings on the ground. The glass on the window was removed to enable the cell to become infested with mosquitoes, insects and mice. A criminal named Li Xiaoyang put a large toad in the cell. Sometimes Ms. Chen awoke to find the toads on her body. Often, in small cells, bugs as big as olives fly all over the place and sometimes go into practitioners' clothes.
In October 2000, 80 practitioners were sent to a drug rehabilitation center and forced to undergo brainwashing. Chen Weijun was deceived by the brainwashing. Shortly after she returned home, her enlightened side woke up and she devoted herself to exposing the evil and clarifying the truth again.
In July 2001, Chen Weijun was arrested by authorities from the Harbin Police Department. She was jailed in the 7th detention center for 40 days. Chen Weijun started a hunger strike to protest. Some police officers used the widest pipe they had to force-feed her. When she refused to cooperate, they beat her badly. The plastic pipe was wide and hard. When she threw up from the force feeding there was blood from internal bleeding mixed with the corn gruel. Finally, her body grew very weak, and the police were afraid that she would die in the detention center, so they released her.
In November 2001, Chen Weijun and her husband (not a practitioner) went to Nenjiang farm to pass out truth-clarifying material with 7 other practitioners. They were reported and arrested by the local police. The policemen took away their materials, beat them and jailed them in the police department. They were put on trial that evening. The police did not let them use the bathroom, and tortured them with a type of torture called "carrying a sword on the back." Policeman Yang Xiaoming fiercely struck Chen Weijun's elbow, and a young policeman beat her for 30 minutes until she almost passed out.
Chen Weijun lay on the ground and her whole body shook. Later, she was jailed in Jiusan Farm Bureau Detention Center in Heilongjiang Province. Chen Weijun started a hunger strike to protest. All the practitioners who were on the hunger strike were released. Shortly after she returned home, Chen Weijun was forced to become homeless to avoid another arrest.
Before the moon festival of 2002, Chen Weijun was arrested in Jiagedaqi City for making "truth-clarifying materials." The court in Jiusan Farm Bureau, Heilongjiang Province sentenced her to 11 years in jail. Chen Weijun didn't pass the physical inspection at the Harbin Women's Prison, so the prison refused to take her. The Jiusan Police Department bribed the person who was in charge, so the prison took her. Chen Weijun suffered all kinds of brutal torture in the prison, such as being: force-fed (the police inserted the tube into her stomach and shook it; fungi grew on the pipe after they left it in her stomach for a long time), hung-up, forced to sit for prolonged period of time, jailed in a small cell, handcuffed behind the back, and so on.

Ms. Wang Dajun and Ms. Li Xianghong of Shenzhou City, Hebei Province, Missing Since 1999
Ms. Wang Dajun, 51, was from Shaopu Village of Bingcao Township in Shenzhou City. Her husband is Huo Dasi. After July 20, 1999, Ms. Wang and another practitioner went to Beijing on foot to appeal to the Central Government on behalf of Falun Gong. After they arrived at Raoyang City, the other practitioner lost contact with Ms. Wang. After trying many times and putting in much effort to locate her, still no news has been heard from her.
Ms. Li Xianghong, 36, a doctor with the Chemical Exam Section of Shenzhon City Hospital in Hebei Province, lived in the apartment building of the Shenzhou City Construction Bureau. She went to Beijing with two other practitioners to appeal to the Government on July 23, 1999. They lost touch with each other about 60 km from Baoding City, and they could not find Ms. Li after they returned from Beijing.
Mr. Li Zhibang from Pingjiang County, Hunan Province, Missing Since the End of 2000
Mr. Li Zhibang, then 62 years old and living at Huangguan Village in Yuping Township, Pingjiang County, came from a poor family. When he started practicing Falun Gong in 1997, his health improved dramatically with all his old health problems vanishing without a trace. After the persecution started on July 20 and because of the Jiang regime's brutal persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Li decided to go to Beijing to appeal and clarify the facts to the government, demanding fair treatment for Falun Gong and practitioners. On December 5, 2000, he started the journey on foot to Beijing. He has been missing ever since. Five years have gone by, and no news has ever been heard from him.
I consider it my good fortune to have obtained Falun Gong in June 1997. At that time I went to a morning exercise group every day. With the help of Tang Jian and other practitioners, I learned how to double-cross my legs and I performed the sitting meditation exercise regularly at 5 a.m. At that time, Mr. Tang Jian always arrived at the exercise site ahead of others, and played the meditation music with his cassette recorder. He arrived regularly, even after his family had a newborn baby. He would correct the exercise movements of others. When I first learned Falun Gong, I often had strong notions. Tang Jian spent time talking with me and helped me to see things from the perspective of Falun Gong, enabling me to upgrade my xinxing.
After July 20, 1999, we lost our group environment for practicing the exercises. Mr. Tang Jian continued to keep in touch with us. Under the harsh environment he refuted every lie that slandered Falun Gong and our Teacher.
I did not see Tang Jian again. I heard that he was arrested during a meeting at Jialingdao Middle School (the school where Tang Jian taught before he passed away). In the meeting, when the principal publicly slandered Falun Gong, Tang Jian sternly refuted his statements. Tang Jian was arrested and taken to a police station where he was sentenced to prison for two years. He was brutally tortured for refusing to accept brainwashing. The prison guards instructed criminal inmates to beat him. Everyone who saw Tang Jian said that his body was full of scars, his eyes were slanted and his face deformed. The prison guards shocked his private parts with electric batons, and his genitals were badly swollen. Even when Tang Jian went on a hunger strike to protest, he still had to do hard labor for long hours.
In July 2002, after he had completed a two-year term, the prison authorities refused to release him. His family tried to reason with the prison authorities. At that time, Tian Jian had been on a hunger strike for 10 months.
Two months later, Tang Jian was released, but the 610 Office arrested him again because he had "not transformed." With a strong will and an unrelenting belief, he endured torture of all forms: beating, electric shocks, blowing with a fan, burning with an iron, and force-feeding with thick salt water and corn gruel. The physical abuse left his internal organs severely damaged. In May 2004, Tang Jian had a persistent high fever and his life was in danger. Fearing that they would be held responsible for his death, the 610 Office sent him home. After a long period of detention and torture, Tang Jian walked his last steps of human life with a heart determined to practice Falun Gong.
On May 14, 2005, Yinchuan City Police Department members held an exhibition to slander Falun Gong. It included photos of Teacher and propaganda about the staged self-immolation incident. The event was held by the Ningxia Anti-Evil Cult Office, the Xinhua Street Office, and the Zhongshan North Street Office. Zhang Zhizhong from the first division of the Yinchuan City Police Department wore casual attire, carried several digital cameras and took pictures from the periphery of the exhibition. A police vehicle also brought many plainclothes policemen to the site.
From 9 to 11 a.m., many practitioners who had learned about the propaganda arrived to send righteous thoughts in close proximity. Plainclothes police used the phony excuse of "someone reported you" to forcibly check practitioner Ms. Zhang Wenjuan's bag, and arrested her and another practitioner. Then, the police searched Ms. Zhang's home and took away many truth clarification materials and VCDs of The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party.
The next morning, the police searched practitioners Zhang Xiaoping and Shen Dongmei's homes, and arrested them without cause. Zhang Wenjuan and Shen Dongmei are still held at the Yinchuan City Detention Center. Zhang Xiaoping, after being held for 24 hours, is still imprisoned on the fourth floor of the Ningxia Police Fire Department, which is the base of operations for a brainwashing center.
Recently, with the dissemination of Falun Gong truth clarification materials and the Nine Commentaries throughout Yinchuan City, more and more people understand the truth, and more and more denounce the various CCP organizations. The persecutors of Falun Gong have become extremely frightened, so they devised this scheme of holding an exhibition to entrap practitioners. From this, we realize that some problems exist in the body of practitioners in Yinchuan City. Some practitioners' mentalities are not grounded in the Fa, and they use human notions to explain the truth. Therefore, we remind our fellow practitioners to value Fa study, clarify the truth and save sentient beings with soberness and wisdom, and steadily walk every step on the path of Fa rectification.

Mr. Zhang Jun, over 30 years old, was a practitioner from Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province. At the beginning of 2000, he was persecuted and sentenced to a labor camp. He was subjected to the torment of incarceration at Team Four of the Yongqiao Labor Camp of Jinxian County, Jiangxi Province. The team leader of Team Four, named Huang Moushui, was especially vicious toward practitioners. He incited the prisoners to beat Mr. Zhang and another practitioner named Wu Waiping from Yingtan. Afterwards, Mr. Zhang was sent to the Gao'an Labor Camp in Jiangxi Province for further persecution. As a result of the long-term torture, Mr. Zhang was reduced to a state of catatonia interspersed with episodes of incoherent murmuring. At the end of 2002, Mr. Zhang still refused to renounce his belief in Falun Gong. The camp officials were concerned that he might die in custody since his condition had seriously deteriorated. They released him and he died soon thereafter.
Mr. Xu Guanglin, 33 years old, was an employee of the Zhuru Hospital of the Zhuru Town, Caidian District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1995. After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, he went to Beijing twice to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. He was arrested in March 2000 while he was sharing his experiences at a fellow practitioner's home. When he protested with a hunger strike, the authorities at the labor camp force-fed him. As a result, his nose and stomach were seriously injured. In September of the same year, he was sentenced to three years in prison and was jailed at the Baofeng Road Jail in Wuhan City, where he was subjected to inhuman torture. He was on hunger strike for more than 90 days and became extremely weak. As a result of his weakened condition, he suffered many diseases. He was released from the jail at the end of 2002, but he never recovered his health. He died on the morning of May 1, 2005.
Ms. Pan Yumei was a 73-year-old resident of Sunjia Village, Quetou Area, Qishan Town, Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province. For the seven years before she started practicing Falun Gong, she suffered tuberculosis and was unable to care for herself. After she started practicing in 1998, all her illnesses were cured. After July 20, 1999, she went twice to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. The police extorted 500 yuan from her. She was arrested several times. She was beaten, cursed, threatened, and her home was searched. She suffered great physical and emotional harm. Eventually she suffered a relapse of her illness and died on November 12, 2004.
Mr. Wang Zhongshu was a 67-year-old retired employee of the Military Machinery Engineering Institute of the Peoples' Liberation Army. Before he started practicing Falun Gong, he had many illnesses including high blood pressure, heart problems and stomach problems, among others. After he started practicing Falun Gong, all his illnesses disappeared. After July 20, 1999, when Jiang Zemin instituted the ban of Falun Gong in co-operation with the Chinese Communist Party, his supervisors often went to his home to harass him. They forbad his practice of the exercises. They forced him to write a "guarantee letter". They forced him to watch anti Falun Gong videotapes. The staff from the Neighborhood Committee forced him to go to a brainwashing center and kept him under surveillance. In March 2001, Zhou Qinglong, a professor from the Military Machinery Engineering Institute was sentenced to two years in prison. All of these occurrences had a big impact on Mr. Wang and affected his physical condition. In May 2002, he died suddenly of a heart attack.
78-year-old Ms. Wang Xiulan was a practitioner from the Hongshan District, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia. Ms. Wang's daughter also practices Falun Gong. When her daughter was repeatedly arrested and persecuted, she too was harassed and threatened. As a result of the great pressure she was under, she had a hemorrhage in her brain. Several months later, she died.
Ms. Chen Xiu'e was a 67-year-old practitioner from Pingdingshan City, Henan Province. After she started practicing Falun Gong in 1996, several of her illnesses were cured. She became very healthy. After July 20, 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. After she went back to Pingdingshan, she was jailed. In 2002, she went to Beijing again to appeal for Falun Gong. After that the police persecuted her psychologically. They monitored her activities, sent her for forced brainwashing, and implicated her family. The harassment was too much for her. She died in June 2002.
Ms. Zhao Guixiang, over 30 years old, was a practitioner from Pingdingshan City, Henan Province. She was very feeble ever since childhood. After she started practicing Falun Gong in 1996, she became very healthy. After July 20, 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. After she came back to Pingdingshan, the staff from her workplace searched her home. She was monitored and beaten. After she was beaten and her Falun Gong books and tapes were taken away, she was under great mental pressure. She died soon thereafter.
70-year-old Mr. Zhang Huachun was a practitioner from Yingyang County, Henan Province. Before he started practicing Falun Gong in 1996, he had many illnesses. After he started practicing, he got healthy. After July 20, 1999, the police came to his village several times to harass him. As a result, his former illnesses returned and he died in the Spring Festival of 2003.
Ms. Wang Dexuan was a 57-year-old practitioner from Yingyang County, Henan Province. After practicing Falun Gong, her health improved. On July 20, 1999, she went to the Provincial Government Committee to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. The staff of the public security bureau arrested her and took her back to the county. She was placed on a blacklist. She was harassed several times and her old illness returned. She died during the Spring Festival of 2004.
Ms. Su Fengzhen, 62 years old, resided at the Hongshi Woods Bureau of Jilin Province. She started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. She was very diligent on her road of cultivation. She had children who worked for the public security department, so after July 20, 1999, the local public security bureau often harassed and threatened her. In March 2005, she suddenly had a brain hemorrhage and within three days, she died.

I am Ms. Zhang Lijuan, age 33. On October 27, 1999, I went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and was arrested and taken to the Qianmen Police Station, then later sent to Daqing Detention Center. At the detention center, I was put in solitary confinement for practicing Falun Gong exercises. I was forced to raise my hands over my head, and stand against the wall. After being detained there for one month, I was transferred to the district detention center for fifteen days. When the term expired, they did not release me but extended it for another fifteen days. I went on hunger strike to protest, and five days later, I was transferred to the Sa District Public Order Detention Center and detained there for two months. When the term expired, it was extended for two more months. During this time guard Yao often kicked me in the back, and deputy director Guo Chunguang often grabbed my hair and beat me. On June 16, 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal. At Changchun City, the railroad police stopped me and detained me at the police station at Changchun Station for one night. After I was returned to Daqing, I was illegally detained at Sa District Detention Center. After one month, I was illegally sent to Shuanghe Women's Forced Labor Camp in Qiqihar City for a one year term. For practicing the exercises, the police guards forced me and two older ladies to run around the yard fifty times. Manager Wang Mei cuffed me onto a heating pipe and forced me to squat for an entire night. Later, I was taken to a small cell, and handcuffed behind my back onto the door. I was deprived of sleep, and my term was extended by more than four months. On February 7, 2002, the district court illegally sentenced Falun Gong practitioners. I went there to lend my support. The police viciously beat me on the head and back. I was sent to the detention center for one month, then transferred to Sa District Detention Center and detained there for more than one month. I was then sent to center for substance abuse in Harbin City for a three year term. At the center, I was forced to sit on a small stool for extended periods of time every day. Manager Wang Limei cuffed my hands behind my back, and onto a heating pipe. Guard Dong Shaoxin beat my head and legs. The intensive labor I had to perform and the torture I received devastated me both mentally and physically.
