As the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party have been spread, more and more people have seen the true nature of the evil Party. The numerous declarations to quit the Communist Party, the Communist Youth League and the Young Pioneers have frightened the Party.

In Shijiazhuang City, the police and joint neighborhood security teams have been called out at night to stop and interrogate pedestrians in the streets. Falun Gong practitioners have been followed or placed under surveillance. On several occasions, practitioners have disappeared while distributing materials.

On the afternoon of March 31, six Shijiazhuang practitioners were arrested. They were: Shen Manliang, Dalu (alias), elderly Bai, two unnamed women, and one unnamed man.

At about 7:00 p.m. on April 4, six more practitioners were arrested. They were: Lizi (alias), Xiaotao (alias), Mi Xiaozheng, two unnamed men and an unnamed woman who managed to escape.

It has been reported that officers from the Yuhua Police Department and the police station in charge of the Jianling Residential Area carried out the arrests.

I witnessed the murder of practitioner Mr. Wu Baowang at the hands of guards in the Shuangcheng Detention Center.

On April 20, 2002, I was illegally arrested and sent to the Shuangcheng City Detention, Center. Wu Baowang was also detained there. In fact, there was only one cell between his and mine. His cell number was 6 and mine was 8. On May 15, 2002, I heard continuous, heart-breaking screams coming from Wu Baowang's cell. At the beginning the sound was loud, but later it became weaker and weaker. I heard him say, "You are doing this to kill me! You don't want me to live!" Later, it was completely quiet.

Before long I learned that the guards had violently force-fed Wu, and the tube had damaged his esophagus, but the prison doctor Liu still poured salt water down the tube. The Shuangcheng Detention Center is known for using high-concentration salted water for force-feeding. Some practitioners vomited in their cells after getting force-fed. They would vomit on their own bodies and shoes. After the liquid dried, the residue was white salt powder. If the esophagus or stomach were damaged when the tube was forcibly inserted, it was impossible to endure the pain of the esophagus or stomach flooding with salt water.

The next day, about 50 or 60 of us shouted, "Where is Wu Baowang?" The guards' political leader said, "He's been sent home." We said, "You are lying! He has died from your torture." The political leader said, "The legal medical expert's appraisal is available here if you have questions." I pointed to the prison doctor Liu and said, "You killed a healthy person just 25 days after he was sent here. A person cannot die from nothing." The prison doctor Liu said shamelessly, "One will continue to be force-fed if one refuses to eat."

The detention center officials did not send Wu Baowang to the hospital until he was already at the brink of death. He died in the hospital from the force-feeding torture, but the detention center informed his family members that he died of a stroke.

Wu Baowang's home was in Shengli Village, Qingling Township, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province.

On March 1, 2005, the police arrested Ms Zhang Fengying, a Falun Gong practitioner in Funing County, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province. They detained her and later sent her to a forced brainwashing center. Four policemen monitored her in turn and tortured her. She became extremely weak as a result of the abuse. For a while she was in critical condition and sent to a hospital for emergency treatment. Several days later, the police claimed that Ms. Zhang had escaped on March 23. Currently we do not know her whereabouts.

Ms. Zhang is a Falun Gong practitioner from Naziyu Village, Yiyuankou County, Zhucaoying Town. As reported by a local villager, nine policemen, including Ru Hongxi and Song from the Department of Administration and Security of the National Security Team of the Public Security Bureau of Qinhuangdao City, Pan Qiang, Miao Hui from the Zhucaoying Police station and others arrested her on March 1, 2005. They also searched her home. Several policemen carried her into the police car and brutally beat her husband and son. They were also taken to the police station and were not released until that night.

The police took Ms. Zhang to the Funing County Public Security Bureau and tried to force her to tell them where she got the books and materials about Falun Gong and the copy machine, but they could not get any information from her. Ru Hongxi slapped her in the face. She lost consciousness and her body was shivering. The police had to take her to the hospital for emergency treatment. At night they locked her up at the Funing Detention Center and confiscated her watch and the 500 Yuan she had with her.

In the detention center Ms. Zhang went on hunger strike, demanding to be released unconditionally. A dozen policemen carried her out for force-feeding. Half a month later, as they could not get any information from her, they took her to a hotel facing the Funing People's Hospital for a 10-day forced brainwashing session. Meanwhile, they called Zhang Fengying's husband and son every day to harass them, threatening them in an attempt to get her to tell them where she got the materials. They said that if she did not tell them, she would be sentenced to 5-7 years in prison. On March 17, Ms. Zhang's husband and son visited her. They found that she had a hard time talking. She was even too weak to take care of herself, but she was still monitored in turn by several policemen.

After 10 days, the police from Funing County went to Ms. Zhang's home and told her husband that on March 23, she jumped from the second floor and escaped. Her husband found it hard to believe. She had been tortured so severely that she was not able to take care of herself and she was constantly monitored by so many policemen. Therefore, he could not imagine how she was able to run away.

After being severely tortured, practitioner Ms. Meng Qingying from Zhucheng City, Shandong Province was paralyzed. The police arrested another practitioner, Mr. Zhao Qingliang, and extorted 20,000 Yuan from his family. They had earlier arrested Ms. Meng's husband Mr. Ren Bingyu and sentenced him to three years of forced labor. Their son Ren Junpeng was expelled from school.

In the evening of April 14, 2005, local police arrested practitioner Ms. Diao Anlan from Zhucheng City Wanjiazhuang Village when she was distributing truth clarifying flyers. Because of the severe pressure, Ms. Diao told the police where she obtained the flyers. That same night, seven police officers headed by Li Jiajun stormed into Ms. Meng Qingying's house in Xicun Village, Jiayue Township. After they searched the house, they arrested Ms. Meng. Since Ms. Meng refused to cooperate with the arrest, the police punched and kicked her, and carried her into a police car.

In the Wanjiazhuang Police Station, police head Yue Yanxi ordered policeman Li Jiajun and others to interrogate Ms. Meng using different violent methods. They first slapped her face over forty times, and then they hit and kicked her back and stomach area. As a result, Ms. Meng's body was covered with bruises, and one of her toenails was torn off. Finally, the torture caused Ms. Meng to be paralyzed, and she had to be carried to a detention center. One eye-witness said, "They beat her so badly that this case will certainly be exposed!"

To protest the torture and illegal detention, Ms. Meng started a hunger strike. Fearing that she might die in prison, the police came to her daughter's house on April 21 and forced her to pay 3,000 Yuan, and then they released Ms. Meng. Even today, practitioner Ms. Meng Qingying remains paralyzed and cannot walk.

On April 12, 2005, political security team head Xu Guangrong and other policemen arrested practitioner Mr. Zhao Qingliang from Zhucheng City Wadian Village. Mr. Zhao was shopping at a farmers' market at the time, and they had no reason to arrest him. Mr. Zhao's older brother, the Party secretary of the village, immediately asked the local police to contact Xu Guangrong to find out the reason for the arrest. The police deliberately sent back word that they would send Mr. Zhao to a forced labor camp. The older brother then informed two other Zhao brothers in the city. The concerned brothers started making contacts with their connections to rescue Mr. Zhao Qingliang. Their effort was exactly what the police wanted. The police used all sorts of fabricated stories to intimidate Mr. Zhao's brothers and family members. Finally, on April 16, 2005, the police extorted 20,000 Yuan from Mr. Zhao's family to get him out.

Because practitioners Mr. Ren Bingyu and Ms. Meng Qingying (husband and wife) once traveled to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong, the local police repeatedly raided their house and made arrests. The police extorted nearly 20,000 Yuan from them. In May 2003, the Jiayue Township police chief Yong Yusuo and other police arrested Mr. Ren and took him to the police station. Cao Jinhui from the Zhucheng City 610 Office sentenced Mr. Ren to three years in a forced labor camp without any legal procedure. Mr. Ren is now detained at the Changle Forced Labor Camp. Their son Mr. Ren Junpeng was a student at the Zhucheng Number One Middle School. Because he clarified the facts about the staged Tiananmen Square self-immolation and explained to people that Falun Gong practitioners are not allowed to commit suicide or to kill anyone, his teacher informed the school administration. Principal Li Xianyang then expelled him from the school.

Ms. Liu Fang, 53, was from Jiangnan Street, Fengman District, Jilin City. She learned Falun Gong in 1996, and all her diseases disappeared within a short time. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, policemen harassed her many times. She was unlawfully detained twice and jailed in a forced labor camp once. She went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong in December 1999 and was detained there. Policemen poured cold water on her head, one basin after another, on a cold winter day. She was sent back to Jilin and detained for fifteen days. She was detained again in February 2000 for attending an experience-sharing gathering at another practitioner's home. She was released five days later due to high blood pressure. She went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong again in October 2000, and was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp. She was very weak and had high blood pressure when she was jailed in Changchun City's Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp. Nonetheless, policemen still beat her with electric batons. She was released for hospital treatment due to very high blood pressure. In 2001, she went to the countryside, where she clarified the truth of Falun Gong and was subsequently arrested. She was released due to her family members' rescue efforts. During the 16th Communist Party Congress in 2002, a kindhearted person warned her that the police were planning to take her to a brainwashing class, so she fled and was forced to become homeless. After the continuous persecution she suffered, Liu Fang was severely injured both physically and mentally. She suffered from a mental collapse in 2003, and in March 2004, she had bleeding in her brain and lapsed into a coma. She passed away on April 13, 2005.

Ms. Liu Lihua, 42, was a resident of West Wulijie Village, Nongan County, Changchun City, Jilin Province. She suffered from inflammation of the nerve endings, which disappeared shortly after she started practicing Falun Gong. She went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in October 1999, and was arrested and jailed in the county detention center. Due to the relentless long-term persecution, she developed a brain tumor and passed away on March 10, 2000.

Ms. Cao Xuezhen was from Tangerli Town, Bazhou City, Hebei Province. On July 10, 2001, when she was visiting her husband, Xie Xiwang, who was jailed in Wanzhuang Forced Labor Camp of Langfang City for distributing truth-clarifying flyers, she was threatened by the police. This led to bleeding in her brain and resulted in her death. Before this, their daughter Xie Haihong (a non-practitioner), who used to have anemia, was traumatized by the persecution of her father, which caused her old disease to recur, and she died on April 3, 2001.

Mr. Li Zhongyao, 53, was from Linyuan Village, Guyuan County, Hebei Province. In May 2001, he was jailed in the county detention center and tortured by police with electric batons. He was jailed there for six months and extorted out of 3000 yuan. He was released in December 2001, after which he was harassed by local police officers many times. This caused serious mental trauma, which resulted in his death on July 31, 2002.

Ms. Wang Xiulan, 74, was from Wenan County, Hebei Province. She learned Falun Gong in 1997, which healed all of her diseases. After the persecution began, she was threatened and harassed by policemen many times. She passed away in July 2001.

Mr. Chi Yuming, 65, was from Baiqi, Xilinhaote City, Inner Mongolia. Mr. Chi suffered from many diseases, and could not walk very long distances without stopping before he learned Falun Gong. After practicing Falun Gong, all of his diseases disappeared, and he became a local contact person. After July 1999, due to the persecution, his old diseases returned, and he died in October 2000.

Ms. Wang Youying, 35, was from Baiqi, Xilinhaote City, Inner Mongolia. She had surgery to remove a tumor in her brain. After practicing Falun Gong, her disease was healed, and she often went to pass out truth-clarifying materials. Since many practitioners were jailed, her family stopped her from practicing, and her old disease returned. Subsequently, her health deteriorated and she died in March 2003.

Mr. Meng Qinglong, 46, was a worker in Huolinhe Coal Company, Chaerhure District, Huolinguole City, Inner Mongolia. He started practicing Falun Gong in May 1997. Subsequently all his diseases were healed. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, he was forcibly laid off from his job for 1 year. His wife was twice jailed in a forced labor camp. He also was unlawfully jailed in a detention center several times. In May 2004, he was jailed in Huolinhuole City Detention Center. He once gave in and renounced Falun Gong, but later he resumed the practice. The police used all kinds of methods to persecute him, including harassing him and confiscating his belongings. As a result, his old diseases recurred and he died on February 11, 2005.

Ms. Zhao Yanping was from Yuelai Town, Huachuan County, Heilongjiang Province. She suffered from many diseases before practicing Falun Gong. After practicing Falun Gong, they all disappeared. After the persecution began her husband and son went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and were arrested by police. On the evening of May 4, 2002, her husband and son were again unlawfully detained by police. The police harassed and searched her house constantly, which caused her old diseases to return. The police continuously knocked on her door day and night. She developed heart disease due to the relentless hounding and passed away on July 30, 2004.

Mr. Xiong Changshu, 60, was from Yuesheng Village, Yuelai Town, Huachuan County, Heilongjiang Province. He was jailed in a labor camp for two years, beginning in April 2002. All of his personal property was confiscated. The county 610 Office and police constantly harassed him. He died on April 9, 2005.

Mr. Han Fuhui, 46, was from Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. He was previously blind. He started practicing Falun Gong since 1997, and was very steadfast during the persecution. Due to the persecution, he died on July 3, 2003.

Mr. Liu Guoyu, 70, and his 60-year-old sister were both from Baoqing Town, Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province. They were harassed by the policemen many times and died in August 2000.

Mr. Dou Chengren, 60, was a retired teacher from Lanzhou Chemical Industrial Company in Gansu Province. After practicing Falun Gong, his heart disease was healed. After 1999, due to the persecution, he had to work on a farm in Dingyuan Town, Yuzhong County. Due to the long-term mental pressure of the persecution, his heart disease recurred and he died from a heart attack on February 1, 2005.

Ms. Lei Xiuqin, 60, was from Baoji City, Shaanxi Province. She was harassed and detained repeatedly between May 2001 and December 2004. The police also threatened to take away her son's job. Due to the relentless persecution, she fell ill and died on January 2, 2005. She shouted, "Restore Falun Gong's reputation" before she died. In the detention center, due to the high pressure, she signed a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Gong, and in September 2004, she wrote a solemn declaration to void the renunciation and resumed practicing. Since she did not have Internet access, her statement was not published at that time.

Mr. Hua Qiao, 76, was a retired worker from the Commerce Drivers Association, Qingdao City, Shandong Province. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1996, and all of his diseases disappeared. After the persecution began, the police constantly went to his house to harass him, and he lost his practice environment. He died in August 2002.

Ms. Chen Guifeng, 73, was from Tianjin. She was illiterate, but after starting to practice Falun Gong in 1995, she was able to read Zhuan Falun, after which all her diseases were healed. After the persecution began, the director of the local police station constantly harassed and threatened her until she died in October 2001.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wu Xianju, 39, is a farmer from the Fifth Commune at No. 5 Village of Taihua Commune in the Dingshui District of Nanbu County, Sichuan Province. Her husband works out of town on odd jobs, and Ms. Wu was taking care of her parents and a 13-year-old child.

On March 23, 2005, Wang Chaoyang, a security official of Taihua Commune, called Ms. Wu into the commune's family planning office. Li Anqin, officer from the Dingshui Police Station, and Luo Xiao, the commune's deputy Party secretary in charge of the 610 Office, unlawfully arrested her. She was immediately taken to the Nanchong City Brainwashing Center in a police vehicle. Ms. Wu has been on a hunger strike in protest for seven days.

It was learned that in March 2003, this brainwashing center in Nanchong City identified Ms. Wu Xianju for unlawful arrest. Ms. Wu managed to escape. Another practitioner, Liu Anhui, was also taken to the brainwashing center. This time, Liu Guoqing, a state security officer in Nanbu County, ordered the Dingshui Police Station to arrest Ms. Wu.

From the end of March until now, the 610 Office of Shenzhen City in Guangdong Province and its local district offices have illegally arrested numerous Falun Gong practitioners. Mostly, they broke into practitioners' residences to arrest them and confiscated their property.

For example, practitioners Fu Xiuyun and Chen Jianxiong from Shenzhen were both arrested on April 14. Their whereabouts are unclear at present.

Liu Peizhen from Nanshan District was arrested on April 14, and is presently detained in Nanshan District Detention Center.

Wang Shuling, who lives in the Municipal Administration Company Housing Complex, and Zhang Fuying, who lives in Shenzhen Huatai Enterprise Company Housing Complex, were arrested from their residences by police from Jingtian Police Station and personnel from the neighborhood committee. Normally, this kind of arrest is coordinated by the local 610 Office. For about one month, practitioners went to the Futian Detention Center to look for these two practitioners. Finally they were told that Wang and Zhang were not detained there. Later we learned that they were both detained at a brainwashing facility at Xili Women's Labor Camp in Shenzhen. Wang Shuling was released after she wrote some kind of statement. Zhang Fuying is still detained there now.

Practitioner Xiao Anjiao from Shaodong, Hunan Province, used to work at a factory in Longgang District in Shenzhen. Xiao Anjiao was arrested and tortured by police from the Longgang District police station.

Not all of the local persecution cases have been exposed yet. Authorities have threatened to sentence many of these practitioners to jail terms.

According to some sources, this round of persecution was conducted by Shenzhen City's local district police stations, national security offices, 610 Offices and some other related agencies. Reliable sources have said that the Ministry of Public Security sent someone to Shenzhen just to supervise this persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

Public Security Section Chief Huang Tao, male, has been participating in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners since July 20, 1999. Together with Wang Xiang, they have persecuted many practitioners. Wang Xiang, also male, was originally the Chief of the Political and Security Section of Futian District Police Department. He gained favor with the higher authorities for his efforts in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, and was promoted to become the Division Chief of the Municipal District Police Department. 1. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Li Shaoqing Forcibly Taken to a Brainwashing Center

On the evening of January 26, 2005, Guo Jin, an officer from the Meihua Police Station, led several other officers to break into Ms. Li Shaoqing's home. They confiscated several sets of Falun Gong books. On February 1, the police received reports that Ms. Li had returned from her parents' home. The next day, Liang Zheng, the director of the police station, took two officers and arrested Ms. Li at her home. Her husband was not at home. Her son and daughter tried to stop the officers from taking their mother away. The officers held them down very forcefully, and Liang threatened to have them expelled from school if they objected.

2. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Zhang Baozhong Arrested Within One Month of Release from Prison

Mr. Zhang Baozhong is from Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. He had been sentenced to three years in prison for practicing Falun Gong and was just released in January 2005. In February, he went out of town to visit his parents-in-law by train. The railroad police arrested him while he was clarifying the truth to passengers on the train. Mr. Zhang is being held in a special cell at Xili, Shenzhen City.

3. [Xicheng District, Beijing] 76-Year-Old Li Jun Arrested at Home

On the afternoon of March 1, 2005, officers in the Gongzhuang area in the Xicheng District went into Li Jun's home. The officers confiscated a computer and books and forcibly took Li Jun into custody.

4. [Beijing] The Haidian Police Department Arrest Ms. Liu Xiangfen

On the evening of February 28, 2005, officers from the Haidian Police Department, led by residential committee officials, broke into Ms. Liu Xiangfen's home in Shangdixili, Haidian District. The officers arrested Ms. Liu and confiscated a CD burner and other materials.

5. [Linxi County, Hebei Province] The Linxi County Police Arrest Ms. Wang Yumei and Mr. Pan Junqiang

Ms. Wang Yumei is from Huangzhuang Village in Hexi Township, Linxi County, Hebei Province. The Linxi police arrested her on February 24, 2005. The officers attempted to extort 3,000 yuan from her family but were not successful. Ms. Wang is being held in the county.

7. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] The Local Police Send Mr. Liu Jianming to a Labor Camp

Mr. Liu Jianming is from Chongli County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. On January 17, 2005, the local police sent him to the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp in Hebei Province to serve a one-year term.

8. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Xiurong Sent to a Brainwashing Center

Ms. Liu Xiurong, 40, lives on South Xingfu Road in the Zhifu District of Yantai City. After July 20, 1999, she was arrested twice because she continued to practice Falun Gong and spoke out to clarify the truth. She was forced to become homeless to avoid recapture and continued abuse. Early in February, she returned home and local state security officers started following her. On the evening of February 13, 2005, police officers broke into her home and forcibly took her into custody.

9. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] The Police Arrest He Pinfu

He Pinfu, who was arrested by officers from the Yong'an Police Station while distributing truth-clarifying materials on February 23, 2005, is being held at the No.1 Detention Center in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province.

10. [Xushui County, Hebei Province] State Security Police Arrest Ms. Liang Yongfeng

Ms. Liang Yongfeng, 46, is from Xushui County, Hebei Province. She is a former employee of the Environmental and Sanitary Office of the county's Construction and Civil Engineering Bureau. On the evening of February 26, 2005, when she was on her way home, state security officers arrested her. She has been on a hunger strike for three days at the Xushui County Detention Center.

11. [Tonghua, Jilin Province] The Police Arrest Mr. Wang Dianren

At around 8:00 p.m. on November 30, 2004, five police officers ransacked Mr. Wang Dianren's home. They confiscated Falun Gong books and Teacher's portraits. Mr. Wang managed to escape that night and became homeless to avoid recapture. On the evening of February 5, 2005, he returned home. The police received reports and arrested him at his home at midnight. Mr. Wang is being held at the Changliu Detention Center in Tonghua, Jilin Province.

12. [Jingzhou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Meiqing from the Jingzhou District Arrested

At around 10:00 p.m. on February 27, 2005, four patrol guards led by Zhang Xianggu, the security director of Bailong Village in the Jingzhou District of Jingzhou City, joined Lu Jun, an officer from the Yulukou Police Station, and commissioner Hu of the Chengnan Development District, and broke into Ms. Wang Meiqing's home. Ms. Wang, who was having dinner, was handcuffed and taken to the Yulukou Police Station. The officers presented no legal papers and gave no reason for the arrest. Ms. Wang was notified that she would be sent to a brainwashing center in Wuhan City while she was being held in the police station.

14. [Shanghai] Ms. Tan Shaoshu, Ms. Huang Ruidi and Ms. Yao Guizhen Arrested

Ms. Tan Shaoshu, 60, is a retired employee of a pharmaceutical plant in Shanghai. She has been tortured multiple times for appealing for the right to practice Falun Gong and for clarifying the truth. She was arrested in September 2004 for distributing truth-clarifying materials, and her home was ransacked. She has remained in custody since then.

Ms. Huang Ruidi, in her fifties, was a top residential official. She was among the first group of Falun Gong practitioners sent to a forced labor camp, serving a one-year term. After her release, she was twice taken to a brainwashing center and twice held at a detention center. Her home was also ransacked numerous times. On February 7, 2005, which was two days before Chinese New Year's Day, Ms. Huang was again taken into custody at a detention center. Her parents, both of whom are almost 80 years old, have been living in constant fear.

Ms. Yao Guizhen, about 50 years old, was detained for going to the appeals office in Beijing. She was arrested on February 7, 2005. Also arrested was her non-practitioner son, who is in high school. Her husband begged the state security officers not to arrest their teenage son, but to no avail. The officers took away all the cash in their home and caused much hardship to their family.

15. [Zengcheng, Guangdong Province] Mr. Feng Bingkun Arrested after Being Followed

Mr. Feng Bingkun is from Zengcheng, Guangdong Province. In February 2005, the police followed him while he was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to the public. He has since been arrested and held in custody at the Zhengcheng Detention Center. His wife and young daughter have been forced to become homeless, as they have lost all sources of income.

16. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Zhou Yao and Other Practitioners Taken into Custody

Zhou Yao was followed and videotaped by the State Security Department after renting a small vehicle for carrying copies of "Zhuan Falun". Before February 4, 2005, officers from the state security department broke into Zhou's home. The officers arrested Zhou and many other practitioners. The officers then found over 200 copies of Zhuan Falun that had been published in Hong Kong. Fang Ping and Fa Cai are being held at the Erzhigou Detention Center, while Zhou Yao is being held at the Hanyang Detention Center.

17. [Sichuan Province] Mr. Chen Hu Sentenced to Two Years in Prison in Yongjia County, Zhejiang Province

Mr. Chen Hu, 35, from Sichuan Province, went to work temporarily in a factory in Oushui Town, Yongjia County, Zhejiang Province. He was arrested at work and taken into custody at a detention center. 2. [Lincang, Yunnan Province] Practitioner Mr. Li Zhen's Health in Danger Due to Torture and Police Refuse to Release him for Medical Treatment

Mr. Li Zhen from Lincang, Yunnan Province was arrested in January 2005 by the local police. Currently he is being jailed at the Dapingba Labor Camp of Yunnan Province and being kept in team six. We have learned that he has been on hunger strike for almost three months. Every day he is tortured by the police with force-feeding. His physical condition is very poor. Recently his feet have swollen up. His family members, being very worried, asked the labor camp to let Li Zhen out on bail for medical treatment. The labor camp, disregarding Li Zhen's safety, refused bail with the excuse that the local police do not want to take responsibility for him.

3. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Practitioner's Home Illegally Searched

On the afternoon on April 27, 2005, a policeman named Wang Yubao from the Rizhao City Public Security Bureau, a young man named Qin, and a man in his late thirties broke into Ms. Hong Meishuang's store. They did not have any search warrant or legal documents and they proceeded to interrogate Ms. Hong. Next the perpetrators broke into Ms. Hong Meishuang's home and searched it without providing any documents. They found nothing and left.

4. [Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Mr. Cheng Xueshan Tortured to Death

Mr. Cheng Xueshan from Tongjiang City, Heilongjiang Province was arrested by a group of police (including Zhang Shidong from the Political and Security Section of Fuyuan County Public Security Bureau), when he was passing out truth-clarifying materials at Nongqiao Village of Fuyuan County on April 9, 2005. Three days later, on April 12, he was tortured to death.

5. [Gaomi, Shandong Province] Practitioner Ms. Li Ruizhen from Yaogezhuang Town Arrested by Police

Ms. Li Ruizhen from Yaogezhuang Town, Gaomi City was reported to the police for making truth-clarifying materials. In the morning of May 4, 2005, she was arrested by police from the Yaogezhuang Town Police Substation. Now she is being jailed at Gaomi Detention Center.

6. [Shanghai] Group Arrest of Practitioners from Weifang District, Pudong

On April 6, 2005, a group of practitioners from Weifang District, Pudong, Shanghai, were arrested. The names of nine practitioners are: Zhu Wenxian, Ms. Sun Wenjuan, Ms. Tao Tanying, Ms. Chen, Ms. Yang, Ms. Ge Meiyu, Ms. Ling Meijuan, Fa Zhengping and Ms. Qian Jianying. Ms. Chen and Ms. Yang were released on April 7. The other seven were sent to Zhangjiang Pudong Labor Camp.

7. [Hengyan, Hunan Province] Shigu District Court to Try Practitioner Ms. Yang Zhilan

Shigu District Court of Hengyan City, Hunan Province is prepared to try Ms. Yang Zhilan on May 22, 2005.

8. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Practitioners Mr. Wang Songwu and his Wife Arrested

In the morning on April 29, 2005, police from the Zhaoyuan City 610 Office of Shandong Province arrested Mr. Wang Songwu at Wenhua District, Zhaoyuan City. At the same time, they confiscated Mr. Wang's phone book and photos of Teacher.

At noon on May 2, they broke into his home a second time and arrested his wife. Currently, their ten-year-old son and sixty-year-old grandmother are left at home alone. Mr. Wang Songwu is jailed at Linglong Detention Center of Zhaoyuan City. The current situation of the couple is not known.

At 10:30 p.m. on April 22, 2005, four policemen suddenly broke into Xu Wei's home and took him away. Currently he is being jailed at Beijing Xicheng Detention Center.

10. [Beijing] Practitioner Ms. Li Yuejin Sentenced to Two and a Half Years

Ms. Li Yuejin from Beijing was sentenced to two and a half years for picking up three VCDs outside of her home. Her family, wishing to appeal the unjust sentence, went with a lawyer to the Tuanhe Labor Camp, but they were turned away. The police said the family could not hire their own lawyer; the police must do it for them. When Ms. Li Yuejin's husband went to the Shijingshan Court to file the appeal, the court did not accept it and said they had to go to the city court.

11. [Anhui Province] Three Practitioners from Suixi Arrested by Police at Duanzhuang, Xuzhou

Three practitioners, including Ms. Shi Mengxia, Ms. Zhang Ping and Ms. Shi Wenxia, all from Suixi, Anhui Province, were arrested by local police near Duanzhuang, Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province. On May 5, several policemen from Xuzhou, Huaibei, and Suixi searched their homes. Currently the three of them are still being jailed at Duanzhuang Police Substation in Xuzhou.

12. [Miyun, Beijing] Practitioners Ms. Yu Shuzhen and Ms. Luo Xiuhua Arrested

Ms. Yu Shuzhen, 63 years old, was taken away from home by members of the Miyun Public Security Bureau and Zhang Yan of the 610 Office. Currently Ms. Yu Shuzhen is being jailed at Daxing Female Labor Camp in Beijing and is being tortured there.

Ms. Luo Xiuhua, a kindergarten teacher, was arrest by the Miyun County Public Security Bureau and Zhang Yan from Jugezhuang Town in Beijing. She has been jailed for several months.

13. [Miyun, Beijing] Name List of Falun Gong Practitioners who have been Sentenced to Labor Camp from Henanzai Town

From September 2004 to March 2005, six practitioners from Henanzai Town of Miyun County have been jailed at Daxing Female Labor Camp. The whereabouts of one of them is still unknown.

14. [Jiyuan, Henan Province] Practitioner Mr. Yuan Shenjun Arrested and on Hunger Strike for Over One Month

At around 11:00 a.m. on March 30, 2005, under the instruction of Wang Guoyou, the political instructor of Jiyuan City National Security Team and Wang Minli, the team leader, 110 anti-riot police were mobilized to arrest Mr. Yuan Shenjun from his home at Jiyuan Electricity Bureau. Mr. Yuan Shenjun has been on hunger strike since his arrest over one month ago. He has been handcuffed and force-fed with injections by five people at Jiyuan First People's Hospital and Tiantan Hospitals. He was arrested by the Jiyuan Procurator and was tortured under the instructions of the Jiyuan 610 Office and the National Security Team.

15. [Anshan, Liaoning Province] Police from the Yongle Police Substation Arrest Practitioner Ms. Ma Na

Ms. Ma Na, 36 years old, is a resident of Anshan City, Liaoning Province. In the morning on April 30, 2005, Ms. Ma Na was arrested by police from the Yongle Police Substation when she went to the Yongle Residential Area at Tiexi to give out truth-clarifying materials.

Ms. Du Yunhong from Dalianwan of Liaoning Province was reported and arrested on the street at the end of March 2005. Her home was searched. It is not clear whether she is currently jailed at Dalian Yaojia Detention Center or Masanjia Labor and Re-education Camp. Her family has not been allowed to see her.

Ms. Wang Shufeng from Harbin is around fifty years old. She was sentenced to three years in Wanjia Labor Camp in 2003. In the labor camp Ms. Wang Shufeng was inhumanly tortured to the verge of death. In 2004, she was sent to the hospital for emergency rescue. During her hospitalization, two policemen monitored her. After she improved, she was sent back to the labor camp.

19. [Ningxiang, Hunan Province] Ningxiang County Public Security Bureau Arrest Practitioner Mr. Wang Gang

On April 25, 2005, the Ningxiang County Public Security Bureau arrested Mr. Wang Gang, Ms. Yang Junying and Wang Zhuo. Wang Gang and Yang Junying are husband and wife. They are over 40 years old. Their son, Wang Zhuo, is over 20 years old. Their home is in Baima Dadao, Ningxiang County. They have all conducted hunger strikes to protest against their illegal detention. Wang Zhuo has been released, but his parents remain in jail.

20. [Hunan Province] Practitioner Mr. Peng Wenchao Jailed Beyond his Term at Xinkaipu Labor Camp in Changsha

Mr. Peng Wenchao was born in 1950. He used to suffer from stomachaches, arthritis and other ailments. After learning Falun Gong, he strived to be a good person by following the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance," and through this he gained his health. At noon on February 28, 2004, he was arrested in a police ambush when he returned to his home. He was jailed at Xinkaipu Labor Camp at Changsha. As of May 7, 2005, we have not seen him return home.

21. [Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province] Shijiazhuang 610 Office Arrests Practitioner Ms. Cheng Wenfeng from Dongsanjiao

At around 4:00 p.m. on April 25, 2005, Shijiazhuang 610 Office, together with police from Chang'an District, arrested Ms. Cheng Wenfeng of Dongsanjiao Village, Qiaodong District, Shijiazhuang City. The police searched her home. Currently Cheng Wenfeng is being detained at a brainwashing class in the capital of Hebei Province.

22. [Jilin] Lingjianglin District Court of Jilin Province Sentences Four Practitioners Including Ms. Chen Xiurong

At noon on December 28, 2004, Ms. Chen Xiurong, Ms. Sun Yunzhi, Gao Shouhe and Chi Minbao were reported to the police when they went to the Xixiaoshan Forestry Farm and Hongtushan Forestry Farm of the Lingjianglin Forestry Bureau to give out truth-clarifying materials. Acting on the tip, police arrested all four of them.

On April 12, 2005, the Lingjianglin District Court handed down sentences to all four practitioners. Ms. Chen Xiurong was sentenced to three years, and Sun Yunzhi, Gao Shouhe and Chi Minbao were sentenced to two and a half years each. They are currently serving these illegal sentences.

23. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] National Security Staff Monitor and Arrest Practitioner Ms. Zeng Lianhua

We recently discovered that Ms. Zeng Lianhua was being monitored by national security staff for 6 months while clarifying the truth over the Internet. At around 9:00 p.m. on March 20, 2005, about twenty policemen broke into her home and arrested her. Her computer, cell phone and phone book were taken away. When her husband tried to stop them from going upstairs, he was beaten up by the police. Currently, Ms. Zeng Lianhua is being jailed at Erzhigou Female Labor Camp.
