The family of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yan Li from Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province was notified on December 5, 2005, that Yan Li died under the persecution from the police in Inner Mongolia. The local police offered 5,000 yuan in exchange for the family's silence. Yan Li's wife was at first overwhelmed and confused, and then said, "Yan Li wasn't supposed to die. I won't take it, even if they give me 500,000 yuan, not to mention 5,000 yuan." She is trying to get a lawyer to obtain justice.
Yan Li
Yan Li was arrested inside a residential building near Hata Street Bank in the Hongshan District, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia by officers from the Chifeng City Police Department National Security Group and from the Hongshan District Police Department. He was detained at the Hongshan District Detention Center where he was tortured to death between November 24 and December 7. The local justice, judicial and legal system colluded in covering up the truth about this case. The details about Yan Li's death await further investigation.
Below is the information we have obtained:
Yan Li, his wife and their child
According to the staff at the Hongshan Detention Center clinic, Yan Li was wearing only a sweatshirt and sweat pants when he was sent to the detention center. It was -21o C (-6o F) in Chifeng City, and the detention center authorities didn't allow Yan Li to bring any additional clothing or bedding.
On November 24, officials from Chifeng City Police Department phoned Yan Li's family and told them to wait for a package. At 10:00 a.m. on December 5, Yan Li's wife Yuan Yingping phoned the Hongshan District National Security after failing to receive the package. A woman told Yuan Yingping that Yan Li was at the brink of death. She urged Yan Li's family to hurry to Chifeng City as soon as possible, "or you will not see him for the last time."
Yuan Yingping took a long distance bus and rushed to the Hongshan District Detention Center in Chifeng City, arriving at 7:00 p.m. He Liang, the guard who received Yuan Yingping said, "Yan Li is doing fine." "He is being treated at the best hospital in Chifeng City." Then, He Liang phoned Bu Ren and Liu at the Hongshan District Police Department National Security Group. The two police officers confirmed Yuan Yingping's identity, but refused to let her see Yan Li at the hospital because "it's too late." They sent her to an Internship Hotel near the No. 1 Technical School in Chifeng City and told her to wait for information.
By 10:30 a.m. the next day, Yuan Yingping had not heard anything from the authorities. She anxiously went to the Hongshan District Police Department and talked to Bu Ren, in charge of Hongshan District National Security Group, and officer Liu Dui. Bu Ren said, "Yan Li passed away. Yan Li was dead the first time I called you."
Yuan Yingping was shocked and didn't know what to say. She finally said, "I don't know who called me. I was waiting for the package you said you were going to send me." Bu Ren said, "I was kidding with you. Yan Li is at the hospital right now." He leaked the truth again when he saw Yuan Yingping holding a large package, "Is that the shroud you bought for him?"
The authorities told her that she could not see Yan Li because he was still being treated in the ER. They told her to go back to the hotel and wait.
In the morning of December 7, Yuan Yingping again went to Hongshan District Police Department. Bu Ren and Liu Dui told her in a firm tone, "Yan Li died." The police took her to the Intensive Care Unit on the fifth floor of the No. 2 Hospital in Chifeng City. Yuan Yingping saw Yan Li's body covered with a piece of white cloth. Yuan Yingping removed the cloth and saw her husband stark naked and lying on his back. His body was cold and rigid, but his eyes were wide open. She lost control and cried out loud.
After Yan Li's death was confirmed, his wife Yuan Yingping phoned other family members who went to Chifeng City. The plainclothes police officers strictly monitored Yan Li's family. They even followed them when they made phone calls and went to the restroom, which asserted tremendous pressure on Yan Li's family.
At 9:30 a.m. on December 8, personnel from Hongshan District Detention Center, Hongshan District Police Department, including the head prosecutor at the procuratorate and the medical examiner, hastily announced the cause of death and the treatment of Yan Li's body. The police department wrote a so-called agreement and coerced Yan Li's family into signing it. The "agreement" is reproduced and reads as follows:
After negotiation efforts between Chifeng City Procuratorate and Chifeng City Police Department, Hongshan District Police Department and Yan Li's family, they have reached the following agreement:
The above photo shows the agreement Yuan Yingping signed under coercion from the local judicial officials and police, when she was not in her right mind due to grief, confusion and shock. This "agreement" fully demonstrates how deft the Chinese Communist Party is at villainous methods to cover up its crimes and deceive people.
Yuan Yingping was mentally traumatized by the sudden death of her husband. The local judicial official and police officers took advantage of her mental state and coerced her into signing the agreement.
After she returned to the hotel, Yuan Yingping calmed down and left the hotel when the police who watched her were eating. Yuan Yingping told us, "Yan Li died such a horrible and suspicious death. I won't take it if they offer me 500,000 yuan, not to mention 5,000 yuan." She is trying to get a lawyer and prosecute the criminals.
After Yuan Yingping left, the officials at the Chifeng National Security Bureau were very nervous and combed the whole city looking for her, including large hotels, hostels, the railroad and the highway. They detained the rest of Yan Li's family at the Internship Hotel. Before 8:00 a.m. on December 9, the authorities forced six of Yan Li's family members into seven cars with the judicial, legal and justice systems' insignias on them. Without Yuan Yinping's presence, Yan Li's oldest brother signed an agreement to allow the speedy cremation of Yan Li's body.
According to other Falun Gong practitioners, Yan Li worked at the Niuerhe Textile Mill in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. He started practicing Falun Gong in December 1995. He was once assigned to the posts of general coordinator, assistant to the division head, assistant to the head of the Production Division, and assistant to the head of the workshop at different times of his career. He was awarded the title "Advanced Worker" for many years.
Before July 20, 1999, Yan Li bought Falun Gong books and videotapes to disseminate Falun Gong in a dozen nearby villages. After the persecution began, Yan Li went to Beijing nine times to clarify the truth to the government and to uphold his belief, and was fired because of it.
He was detained twice during his appeal and was held at Jinzhou City Custody Center. During the first detention between August 14, 1999 and September 14, 1999, Wen Shizhen, governor of Liaoning Province at the time, personally issued an order "no reform, no release" specifically regarding Yan Li. He was held at Jinzhou City Forced Labor Camp for two years, beginning on October 25, 1999. He persisted in his belief and was savagely tortured. He was detained in solitary confinement for several months. After the two-year term expired, his term was extended by nine months and he held a hunger strike. He was force-fed and was not released until he could not eat and was at the brink of death. During the one month he stayed at home, he could only eat liquid food and could not take care of himself. He needed help getting out of bed.
In September 2004, Yan Li was betrayed when he clarified the truth on a bus going to Kalaqinqi. He was detained at Jinshan Police Department in Chifeng City. He held a hunger strike for nine days and was released when he was again at the brink of death.
Yan Li was tortured to death within a dozen days after his last arrest. According to the police, copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and truth materials were found in the home of the fellow practitioner, where Yan Li was arrested. Yan Li was charged with "overthrowing state power." Mr. Yan Li held a hunger strike after the arrest to resist the persecution. Beginning from November 26, the police force-fed him at the detention center and sent him to a hospital for emergency treatment on December 4.

Dozens of Falun Gong practitioners detained at the Jinzhou Forced Labor Camp in Liaoning Province have been on hunger strike for a long time. They are extremely weak after being tortured by guards led by Zhang Haiping. Ten practitioners are at the brink of death, including two practitioners from other cities. Right now, the practitioners are being force-fed at the Shihua Hospital in Jinzhou City.
Shihua Hospital is the designated hospital for the persecuted Falun Gong practitioners by order of the Jinzhou City Judicial Bureau. It has been learned that due to the severity of the situation, all of the major hospitals in Jinzhou City have refused to treat these practitioners. Practitioners who are in critical condition and who were disabled from torture include Li Yong from Jin County, Jincheng, Liu Cheng from Yi County, Jiao Lin and Yan Bo from Benxi, Liu Chunwang and Hu Shaowei from Huludao City, Shao Minggang, Qi Mingli, Chai Lianbao and Miao Jianguo from Jinzhou City.
On December 2, Falun Gong practitioner Miao Jianguo was tortured to the brink of death at the Jinzhou Forced Labor Camp. The Jinzhou City Hospital and the Jinzhou City Affiliated Hospital refused to treat him. The labor camp authorities sent him to the Guta District Hospital and left him with his family and the hospital staff. The next day, fearing their deeds would be exposed, they dispatched six police officers. They broke into the home of Miao Jianguo's parents and took Miao Jianguo from his parents' home, although he was near death at the time. They continued to detain him at Division 2 of the Jinzhou City Forced Labor Camp.
Guards Bai Jinlong, Li Songtao, Zhang Chunfeng, Yang Tinglun and others at Division 2 ordered inmates Pan Xuemei, Jiang Hui and others to savagely beat Falun Gong practitioners. Around August 2005, practitioner Liu Cheng from Yi County was extremely weak from torture. He was deaf in both ears from beatings, his mouth was deformed and his nose was broken. After the beatings, inmates Pan Xuemei and Jiang Hui were rewarded by guards Bai Jinlong, Li Songtao and Zhang Chunfeng for their contributions to the persecution.
To resist the persecution, many Falun Gong practitioners went on a hunger strike. Practitioner Qi Mingli whose eyesight has deteriorated and whose right leg was disabled from beating went on a hunger strike on November 18. Practitioner Hu Shaowei from Huludao City went on a hunger strike on November 13.
According to reliable sources, the crimes committed at the Labor Camp are constantly exposed. Many guards who used to personally persecute Falun Gong are no longer willing to commit such crimes, but labor camp head Zhang Haiping is still carrying out the persecution.

5. Released, Forced into Homelessness, and Arrested Again
Taking off the helmet that was worn for more than a year, Mr. Lv Kaili was released from the Dalian Forced Labor Camp. However, to avoid further persecution, he was forced to leave home and travel from place to place.
In June 2004, Mr. Lv's wife, Ms. Sun Yan, was released after being detained for more than three years.
Years of brutal persecution have shattered a family that has lived under constant pressure by CCP. Ms. Sun's parents are over 60 years old and live off their minuscule retirement pension. Upon her return home, both her parents and sister were ill, and her husband was not around.
On December 9, 2004, six months after Ms. Sun returned home from the detention center, she went to interview for a job. At that time, she was still recovering her health. When a stranger stopped her and demanded her name, Ms. Sun did not answer. Two other people appeared and dragged her into their car. She was taken to the National Security Team of Dalian City and then later transferred to Xinghua Street Police Station.
When Mr. Lv returned home in the evening that same day, their home had been ransacked and was in chaos. Several policemen from the Xinghua Street Police Station of the Ganjinzi District Police Department were also waiting for him. They took him to the Xinghua Street Police Station. At around 5 a.m. the next day, Mr. Li openly walked out of the police station but had to leave home in order to avoid further persecution.
After Ms. Sun Yan had been detained for nearly a year in the Dalian Detention Center, the Ganjinzi District Court of Dalian City then sentenced her to three years of imprisonment. Director of the Dalian City 610 Office Jiang Xueyong personally orchestrated this. Ms. Sun is facing the possibility of being sent to the notorious Dabei Prison. She went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution and has lost consciousness several times. The detention center, the Ganjinzi District Court, the police department and the 610 Office have all refused to release her.
During this time, the authorities have been looking for Mr. Lv Kaili, making every effort to find him.
On the night of October 13, Dalian City practitioners Mr. Yang Benliang, Zhang Wei and another practitioner were followed by the police when they took a taxi together. When Mr. Zhang Wei was dropped off at the Youyi Bridge, he was arrested by the police along with Yang Benliang. The other practitioner who was still inside the taxi realized what was happening and told the taxi driver to quickly start the car and leave the scene. Two cars followed the taxi, but eventually the practitioner escaped. The police were from the First Division of Dalian Police Department and the National Security Bureau, both led by Chen Xin.
The plain-clothes police also ransacked Mr. Zhang Wei's home that night. Then they went to Paoya Beautiful Garden and arrested practitioners Mr. Lv Kaili, Ms. Yang Chunling and Zhao Xue. The police beat and broke Ms. Yang Chunling's arm while she was trying to resist the "illegal arrest." All six practitioners were taken to a white building managed by the National Security Bureau located at Youjia Village, Xinzhazi of Dalian. The practitioners were separately detained in different rooms. When each one stepped into his or her room, the waiting officials jumped up and beat them.

On October 15, a group of police officers claiming they were from Dalian City broke into Mr. Yang Benliang's father's home. Without any legal document, they ransacked the home. Mr. Yang's father asked them what crime his son had committed and why they did not allow Chinese people to practice Falun Gong while people in more than 60 countries around the world can practice. Someone answered that foreign countries were other countries. In China, if someone wanted to practice Falun Gong, he/she had to stay at home. Yang Benliang's case was different this time. Mr. Yang's father then asked, "Did Yang Benling kill people?" The officers did not answer. They searched everywhere, even a backpack belonging to an elementary student who stayed in the same home. The police did not find the "evidence" they needed, but they did confiscate the photos of the founder of Falun Gong and of Yang Benliang and his mother.
Prior to the ransacking, his parents often received harassing phone calls from the Lijia Street Neighborhood Committee. In addition, the authorities told Mr. Yang's mother to register at the neighborhood committee office, otherwise, she risked her retirement pension being withheld. In fact, it was a trick to get Mr. Yang's parents to go to the office. As they were registering, the parents saw a female staff member go into a different room to make a phone call. Mr. Yang's father noticed something was abnormal and immediately told his wife to leave. When he returned, four plain-clothes police stood in front of the office. When Mr. Yang's father left the office, two of the plain-clothes police followed him. Not until he got on a bus did the police leave him. The following day, plain-clothes police stood guard outside their home and ordered a neighbor to monitor Mr. Yang's parents.
On October 22, practitioners Mr. Zhang Wei, Mr. Lv Kaili, Mr. Yang Benliang, and Ms. Yang Chunling were secretly put on trial and illegally sentenced to prison terms. The practitioners were sent to Liaoyang City Detention Center. The policeman Liu from the National Security Group of the 4th Division, Liaoyang City Police Department was responsible for persecuting these practitioners. Mr. Zhang Wei went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. He lost consciousness several times, but the detention center refused to release him.
In the middle of November when Mr. Yang's mother, Ms. Cao Yuzhi, went to the detention center to visit him and her daughter-in-law, Ms. Yang Chunling, policeman Liu Yong from the National Security Group of the 4th Division, Liaoyang City Police Department illegally arrested her.
6. Partial List of Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners in the Dalian Area
The former and current mayors of Dalian City, Bo Xilai and Xia Deren, closely follow the Chinese Communist Party to brutally persecute Falun Gong practitioners, causing many practitioners and their families to suffer.
Currently, more than 50 Falun Gong practitioners in Dalian have been persecuted to death, and many others have been disabled due to the tortures they suffered. More than 100 practitioners are detained in prisons, forced labor camps, brainwashing centers, detention centers, and mental hospitals in Liaoning Province, where they are subjected to various appalling tortures and injected with unknown drugs that destroy their nervous system.
As of November 2005, the practitioners detained in Dalian are:

Ms. Zhang Qinghua was born in 1967. On May 19, 2005, at around 3:00 in the afternoon, police from the Qinjin District Branch of the Jiamusi City Police Department broke into her home. They ransacked her home, stealing her computer, printer, Falun Gong materials, CDs, and Falun Gong books. Then they arrested Ms. Zhang and sent her to the Jiamusi Detention Center.
Ms. Ji Yingping was born in 1957. On May 19, 2005, at around 7:00 in the evening, she visited Ms. Zhang Qinghua. Unfortunately, she was captured by police, who had been waiting to ambush her in Ms. Zhang's home since that afternoon. They confiscated her laptop and Falun Gong books and materials. She was also sent to the Jiamusi Detention Center.
On June 15, the Jiamusi City Police Department colluded with the city's middle court and issued formal arrest warrants for Ms. Zhang and Ms. Ji.
While in detention, Ms. Ji Yingping had a relapse of her former illness due to the prolonged persecution and her health deteriorated until her condition was critical. On July 27, the police agreed to release her on medical bail. However, on the morning of November 22, Hong Ai from the Qianjin District Procuratorate, Luan Haitao, and several other policemen from the Shunhe Police Station broke into her home and arrested her. She did not even have on her coat and shoes. They drove her to the district court and threw her to the ground. Shortly before noon, the Jiamusi City Political and Legal Committee Party Secretary, 610 Office Director Liu Yan, National Security Group Captain Chen Wanyou, and police officers from the Shunhe Police Station all came to the court. The members of the district court staff questioned the fairness of the sentence proposed by the police, thinking it was too severe. Then Liu Yan and Chen Wanyou pressured them to try her at 8:30 in the morning on December 7, 2005. At around 1:00 in the afternoon on November 22, the police attempted to force Ms. Ji Yingping to sign her agreement to the trail schedule, but she firmly refused. The police had no alternative but to send her home.

On September 22, 2005, a passenger fell off the No. 1468 train from Jiagedaqi to Beijing.
The passenger had picked up a Falun Gong truth clarification flyer on the train. The railway police observed him reading it and suspected that he was a Falun Gong practitioner. The police detained the passenger even after their investigation failed to verify him as a Falun Gong practitioner. The police then put the passenger on a train going in the opposite direction. (Train No. 1467) Railway police officers Ma Yuwen and Lu Shutao had the responsibility of escorting the passenger. Lu's cell phone number is 86-13845773610. Lu had recently lost his job due to being derelict in carrying out his duties. On the way back to Jiagedaqi, the two railway police officers decided to interrogate the passenger a second time. The interrogation put the passenger under great mental strain. In this condition, he fell off the train and died after failed medical intervention.
The victim, Mr. Ma Zhigang, was 30 years old. Mr. Ma was a teacher at the Songling District Guyuan Elementary School. There is no evidence indicating he was a Falun Gong practitioner.
According to legal protocol, the two railway police officers had no authority to interrogate the passenger for the second time. After the incident, neither one of the two police officers could explain how the passenger fell out of the train.
Instead of quickly moving to comfort the family members of the victim, the Jiagedaqi Railway Bureau Police Department searched for evidence of the victim's "crimes," shirking their own responsibility. They made up a story that the victim had practiced Falun Gong for many years, and that he was planning to reunite with other practitioners in Beijing. The victim's school and the local police station both proved that the victim was not a Falun Gong practitioner, yet the railway police still maintained their story. In this way they continued looking for evidence and so-called witnesses, which severely impacted the normal operation of the authorities from the victim's school as well as his family members.
After four to five days of investigations, the railway police did not get any evidence or witnesses. They requested to settle the case with the victim's family for 50,000 yuan, which the family refused. Later, they settled the case for 80,000 yuan.
Rather than learning from this lesson, a similar incident happened on the train to Beijing one week later. On October 1, 2005, passenger Mr. Cui Benyuan was on the train on his way to work in Beijing when railway police officer Zhou Yuling noticed that Mr. Cui was reading the book China Falun Gong. On account of this Mr Cui was imprisoned at the Qiqihar Railway Bureau's Police Department for 12 days for "disturbing social stability."
Similar to the last event, the Jiagedaqi Railway Police abused Mr. Cui's family members while he was imprisoned. They searched Mr. Cui's home and forced his family member to submit to fingerprinting the search warrant. They also demanded Mr. Cui's family members tell them why he went to Beijing during the national holiday, why he took Falun Gong books with him, asked whether he had any political motives, and so on. The family told them that Mr. Cui went to Beijing to work, and that he studied the Falun Gong book to seek physical health and learn how to be a good person. They said, "We do not have any other motives! Though we are poor, we live on our own earnings, not on government welfare! We did not cause the government or society any trouble; actually, you are making troubles for us!"
The local police agreed and told the railway police that Mr. Cui's family members are all nice people. The railway police left, not finding anything.

A 610 Office member and several local police officers illegally arrested Falun Gong practitioner Cui Shimin. Four policemen carried him away from his home in a police car. During the illegal arrest they injured his back. Later on, he was sent to Tieling Forced Labor Camp. On November 5, 2005, because Cui Shimin didn't report when his number was called, and Falun Gong practitioner Liu Zhenguo stepped forward and urged the chief warden not to beat people, corrections officers beat them both. Officer Wang Guijun beat Liu Zhenguo, whose mouth was left bleeding. Mr. Liu's eyes were blackened, and his chest hurt badly.
On November 5, 2005 around 7:20 in the evening, after officer Wang Guijun from the Precaution Section at the Tieling Forced Labor Camp called out the numbers in the Fifth Group, he asked if anyone hadn't come out when their number was called. Someone replied, "Cui Shimin and Xu Shikun." Then Wang Guijun said, "Bring Cui Shimin out. I'm going to teach him a lesson."
Several prisoners shoved Falun Gong practitioner Cui Shimin to the floor and dragged him down the hall to the duty office. Then Wang Guijun ordered the team leaders to the office.
Cui Shimin explained to Wang Guijun and another officer named Zhao about the back injury he'd sustained at the hands of the police and the 610 Office. He also mentioned that the labor camp director, his secretary, the section leader, and the instructor were all aware of his injury. Wang Guijun said, "Don't mention those leaders to me. In a few days, I'll be the division chief. You are here and you will obey me. When I am on duty, you will respond when I call the numbers."
Cui Shimin noticed that Wang and Zhao were both drunk. Cui agreed to reply when Wang called the numbers.
Wang Guijun said, "I've already got someone looking into who posted the details of this event on the Internet. Every day I get calls from people. I told them I'm not the division chief. I don't want to listen to what they say. I need this job to make a living."
Cui Shimin said, "Persecuting Falun Gong won't do you any good. In the future, when the persecution ends, everyone who persecuted Falun Gong will be held responsible for what they did."
Wang Guijun said, "I don't care. There are no rules against persecuting Falun Gong. I'm only following my orders here."
Cui Shimin said, "Every time a [political] movement ends, those who've committed crimes are held responsible for what they've done."
At 8:00 p.m., Cui Shimin walked slowly back while supporting himself against the wall. Falun Gong practitioner Chang Lian went to help him, but the guards wouldn't let him. Chang Lian said, "Cui Shimin, you should straighten up your back if you can walk."
Officer Zhao pulled Chang Lian aside and said, "Come here. I want to see whether you can stand up straight." Chang Lian followed them outside, and then Zhao hit Mr. Chang in the neck.
Falun Gong practitioner Liu Zhenguo told Zhao, "If you want to talk, just talk. You don't need to hit people." Zhao ordered Liu Zhenguo to the hallway. Then Wang Guijun beat Liu Zhenguo for an hour. When Wang Guijun was done, Liu Zhenguo's mouth was bleeding, his eyes were black and blue and bleeding, and he experienced severe chest pain. The left side of his head was swollen. After the beating, Wang dragged Mr. Liu into the office to talk. Wang Guijun said he knew that the details of these types of incidents were posted on the Clearwisdom website, and he said he had someone looking into who was responsible. At 9:50, before Liu Zhenguo returned to his cell, Wang Guijun told him to wash the blood off his face. Liu Zhenguo's chest and eyes hurt all night.
The authorities at the forced labor camp have taken no action against Wang Guijun concerning his abuse of Falun Gong practitioners. These officers refuse to listen to the truth and continue to abuse Falun Gong practitioners at will. Cui Shimin is now on a hunger strike to resist the persecution.

On the morning of April 29, 2004, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Tang Zhenju was persecuted to death in Kaiping Labor Camp, in Tangshan City. When Mr. Han's family received the notice and went to Kaiping Hospital, Mr. Han had already passed away long before they arrived.
In order to shirk their responsibility, the labor camp police lied to the family and said that Mr. Han Zhenju suffered a sudden heart attack and passed away. However, when Mr. Han's family secretly checked Mr. Han Zhenju's body (the labor camp didn't allow them to inspect the corpse), they found Mr. Han's back was purple and his body was emaciated, the result of long-term physical and mental torture. Later it was verified by other practitioners who knew the true situation that Mr. Han Zhenju had suffered brutal torture many times in Kaiping Labor Camp, causing his death.
Mr. Han Zhenju had clarified the truth at Qutougou Village in Liujie Township, Yongqing County, Hebei Province and was illegally arrested after he was reported to the authorities. He was released 3 days later, but afterwards Mr. Han was again arrested and illegally detained at Wanzhuang Forced Labor Camp in Langfang City and Gaoyang Labor Camps for 2 years in total.
In December of 2003 of the lunar calendar, Mr. Han Zhenju was kidnapped and sent to Kaiping Labor Camp in Tangshan City. Mr. Han Zhenju continued clarifying the truth and also started a hunger strike to protest the persecution. After being on hunger strike for over 20 days, Mr. Han was extremely weak. Kaiping Labor Camp, led by policeman Yu Chunlei, sent Mr. Han Zhenju and one Beijing practitioner, Mr. Zhou Tong, to Gaoyang Labor Camp to be forcibly brainwashed. This action supported the authorities' so-called "Spring Thunderous Movement" of persecution.
Gaoyang Labor Camp is a notorious living hell in the human world. They even fiercely beat Mr. Han Zhenju with sticks, a 50-year-plus old senior person who had been on hunger strike for over 20 days, and after the stick was broken, they used bricks to pound Mr. Han's shoulders. Then they grabbed Mr. Han, threw him up in the air and let him come crushing down onto the ground. They threw him up in the air and let him fall onto the ground 20 times or more. The participants in this torture included Li Dayong from Gaoyang Labor Camp, etc. Mr. Han Zhenju was tortured to the verge of death but still continued with his hunger strike to protest the persecution. After over 20 days, when the labor camp police were at their wits' end, they sent Mr. Han and another practitioner, Mr. Zhou, back to Kaiping Labor Camp in Tangshan.
This time Li Dayong and other policemen in Gaoyang Labor Camp tied up Mr. Zhou Tong with ropes to torture him. Mr. Zhou passed out, and when he regained consciousness, his shoulder blades were left with permanent scars from the ropes, a sad testimony to this "spring thunderous movement."
Shortly after Mr. Han Zhenju was sent back to Kaiping Labor Camp in Tangshan, the police led by Xu Zhenmin started another round of forced "transformation" on Mr. Han Zhenju. In order to achieve their evil objective, they took Mr. Han Zhenju to the women's squadron and asked the transformed former practitioners there to take turns instilling their evil doctrines into Mr. Han. At the same time, one policeman and one transformed former practitioner flanked him round the clock and didn't allow Mr. Han any sleep. Such mental torment was often more brutal than the physical tortures. Under such inhuman sleep deprivation for an entire week, Mr. Han Zhenju became confused; his mind became clouded and he wrote the three statements against his will. Later Mr. Han had deep regrets when he talked to other practitioners about this. The brutal persecution this time caused severe and long lasting damage to Mr. Han Zhenju. Later, Mr. Han was assigned to perform hard labor in the No. 1 squadron.
On Chinese New Year's eve, 2004, Mr. Han Zhenju went on hunger strike together with other practitioners to protest against the persecution, and was transferred to the "education center." The so-called "education center" actually was the designated place for the police to forcibly persecute and "transform" steadfast Falun Gong practitioners. This center has detained and persecuted many Falun Gong practitioners. The practitioners who were detained together with Mr. Han Zhenju included Mr. Zhang Zhenguang. The practitioners clarified the truth to the head of the labor camp, Xu Deshan. Xu pretended to listen to them and tricked them to eat. Later, Mr. Han Zhenju was transferred to the "special management team" in the hospital (which specialized in persecuting practitioners who refused to be "transformed").
In April 2004, Falun Gong practitioners in the "special management team" started a hunger strike together. On April 25, Mr. Han Zhenju started the hunger strike again. On the morning of April 29, policeman Li Yi called Mr. Han Zhenju to the toilet area (in order to be out of sight), and grabbed Mr. Han's neck, suffocating him. Li didn't release his clutch until several minutes later. After Mr. Han Zhenju went back to the cell, at around 9 p.m., he suddenly developed irregular breathing. Labor camp doctor Wang Hongli came to pat Mr. Han on his back and tried to wake him up, but Mr. Han could not utter a note. They carried Mr. Han to the duty room and later sent Mr. Han to the hospital. It was revealed later by the people present on that day that Mr. Han Zhenju had already stopped breathing while on the way to the hospital.
The various brutal tortures that Kaiping Labor Camp and Gaoyang Labor Camp inflicted on Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Han Zhenju over a long period of time had caused severe physical and mental damage. The claim that "Mr. Han Zhenju died of natural causes" was a patent lie that the police used to deceive Mr. Han's family and other people to cover up their crimes. This scandal will remain a permanent record in history. Reflecting on this part of history is to help more people understand the truth and the evilness of this persecution, and to awaken and warn those people who participate in the persecution to stop, to lay down their butcher's knife, to choose a future for themselves.

During the mid-autumn festival in 2005, practitioner Zhou Peihong was shocked with electric batons and Zhao Shuang twisted his wrists and legs. He was disabled from the torture and cannot take care of himself to this day.
