  • United Kingdom: Falun Gong Practitioner Speaks at "Stop Violence Against Women" Seminar Hosted by Amnesty International

On November 30, 2005, Amnesty International hosted a seminar entitled, "Stop Violence Against Women" at the London School of Oriental and African Studies. Falun Gong practitioner Mo Zhengfang was invited to give a speech about her own experience of being persecuted by the Chinese Communist regime. Some artworks from the "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" International Art Exhibition were also displayed at the seminar. After learning about the persecution, many seminar participants signed the petition calling for the United Nations Human Rights Council to assist in rescuing the persecuted Falun Gong practitioners in China.

Signing to call for an end to the persecution

Falun Gong practitioner Mo Zhengfang pointed out that many female Falun Gong practitioners in China have been illegally and brutally persecuted by the Chinese Communist regime. Torture methods used against them include sexual harassment, sexual abuse and forced abortion. She was beaten and kicked by the police when she was eight months pregnant. In December 1999 Ms. Mo, a British resident, attended the Falun Gong experience sharing conference in Hong Kong. She then went to Beijing with three other Falun Gong practitioners to appeal for justice for Falun Gong, trying to tell people the facts of the persecution and the beauty of Falun Gong. Unexpectedly, when they were preparing their truth-clarification banners in the hotel, the police broke into their room and illegally arrested all of them. When they started the sitting meditation while in detention, the police kicked Ms. Mo's legs despite the fact that she was eight months pregnant. She was then detained in a detention centre in Beijing for one week.

Mo Zhengfang told the participants that the Chinese Communist regime's persecution of female Falun Gong practitioners is extremely wicked. An example is the persecution of pregnant women. Although Chinese law prohibits pregnant women from being sent to forced labor camps, many women are forcibly given abortions and were then sent to labor camps. There were also pregnant women who had miscarriages in the labor camps because of the heavy physical workload. Even women seven or eight months pregnant could not escape that abuse.

In the seminar, the organization, Friends of Falun Gong provided some art works from the "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" International Art Exhibition for display. These included paintings depicting torture of practitioners, including practioners being hung up high with both arms stretched, and torture against women. Also exhibited were pictures showing Falun Gong practitioners' efforts in revealing the facts of the persecution and appealing for justice. Practitioners explained the background and the story behind each painting. Some students who passed by the seminar room also stopped to look at the artworks. Many participants signed the petition calling for the immediate end to the persecution and asked for information about Falun Gong and the art exhibition.

A seminar participant said that, as described in the Amnesty International's posters, violence against women is the most shameful crime in today's world. The facts she heard today about the Chinese Communist regime's persecution against women and Falun Gong practitioners were intolerable. She hoped that this persecution could be stopped immediately.

This seminar was organized by the student union at the School of Oriental and African Studies, as part of Amnesty International's worldwide efforts to stop violence against women. This worldwide activity will end on International Human Rights Day on December 10.

Japan: "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" Art Exhibition Helps Tokyo Residents Gain a Greater Understanding of Falun Gong

The "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" International Painting and Photographic Exhibition sponsored by the Japanese Falun Dafa Association was held for four days, from November 29 to December 2, 2005, in Funabori, Edogawa-ku, Tokyo. A former member of the Japanese Congress, as well as council members from Tokyo and Edogawa-ku, came in person to offer their congratulations and cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.

Former Senator Hirosato Nakatsugawa made the first speech. He said, "Falun Gong is good, and it is well-received around the world. Today when I came to see the art and photo exhibitions, I once again personally witnessed the brutality of the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong." He explained that a practitioner had given him Falun Gong materials in front of the Japanese Congress three years ago. He gradually began to understand Falun Gong through frequent contact with practitioners involved in rescuing a Japanese citizen's wife, Yoko Kaneko, who was detained and sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor by former president Jiang Zemin's Chinese Communist regime. Last year in this same place, Mr. Nakatsugawa cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony for an exhibition of works of famous Chinese painters and calligraphers collected by Australian practitioner Ms. Dai Meiling. He hoped that Falun Gong practitioners would be holding future meaningful exhibitions in similar distinguished locations, to introduce the wonderfulness of Falun Gong to more people.

Council members from Tokyo and Edogawa-ku also made speeches. They offered their congratulations to the art exhibition and expressed their concern about the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of human rights. They were shocked at the tragic scenes of Falun Gong practitioners suffering tortures that were portrayed in the exhibited works. They indicated that we should help these innocent people be free from the torture and abuse.

A representative of the Japanese Falun Dafa Association said that, living in Japan's peaceful environment, it's hard to imagine that the persecution is still going on in China. "These works were all created by Falun Gong cultivators," he said. "Viewing the 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance' art exhibition inspires one and purifies one's heart. We will continue to extensively publicize the exhibition to the Japanese community."

Falun Gong practitioners presented Zhuan Falun and Falun Gong introductory materials to the guests who came to offer their congratulations and cut the ribbon.

    Presenting Zhuan Falun to guests

One council member told the reporter that it was the first time he had ever received a Falun Gong flyer. Another council member highly recommended to him the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. He said that he believed that one must read the Nine Commentaries to learn about China and to understand the true nature of the Chinese Communist Party.

Introducing Falun Gong to a visitor

Some visitors were just off work and came directly to the exhibition with their children. A Japanese woman in her 50s who looked at the art exhibition said that the Chinese Communist Party does not believe in God. She said, "They treat Falun Gong practitioners who believe in 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance' so inhumanely." When another woman passed by the entrance to the art exhibition, she saw the display boards about the Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance International Art Exhibition and entered to take a good look at each of the works. In tears, she said to a practitioner that she had visited Falun Gong's "Journey of Fa-rectification" photo exhibition three years ago. She knew that Falun Gong and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance were good. When she saw the three words "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" on the display board, she immediately entered to visit the exhibition. She had never expected to see that Falun Gong, which is so good, is so brutally persecuted in China. She said, "It is too inhumane." The woman left the exhibition hall and returned 20 minutes later. She carried a bag of food and insisted on giving it to the practitioners. She said that practitioners are remarkable, and she hoped the persecution would soon end.

Some visitors who looked at the exhibition immediately learned the five sets of exercises from practitioners at the exhibition hall. They also left their contact information and asked for contact telephone numbers of local practice sites. Several other visitors who saw the exhibition immediately asked for the book, Zhuan Falun in Japanese. Through this painting exhibition, more visitors learned about the wonderfulness of Falun Dafa and the brutal persecution that Falun Gong practitioners are suffering in China. They all hoped that the persecution would end soon. They also hoped that China would have human rights and freedom of belief just like in Japan.

A Chinese person wrote in the message book: "One of my relatives practices Falun Gong in China. She is a very upright and kind person, but she has suffered inhumane persecution for persisting in her belief in 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.' I'm very appreciative for being able to see such a beautiful painting exhibition."

The "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" International Art Exhibition has been exhibited in several places in Japan. The artists, all of whom practice Falun Gong, hope through their works to display the wonderfulness of Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners' uncompromising spirit under the persecution. The practitioners have been clarifying the truth, offering salvation to people with great compassion and tolerance, and exposing the fact that Jiang Zemin's regime has colluded with the Communist Party to brutally persecute Falun Gong.

December 4-10, 2005, marks the 57th annual Human Rights Week in Japan. The "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" International Painting and Photo Exhibition encourages people to pay more attention to what is happening in their neighboring country.

Singapore: Malaysian Citizen Refused Entry to Chinese Embassy for Accepting Falun Gong Informational Materials

On the morning of December 6, 2005, a Malaysian citizen was refused entry to the Chinese Embassy in Singapore for his visa application just because he accepted a copy of Falun Gong truth-clarification materials outside of the embassy.

As usual, Falun Gong practitioners went to do the exercises as a group and clarify the truth about Falun Gong in front of the Chinese Embassy on the morning of December 6. A passerby from Malaysia came to look at their display boards about the persecution of Falun Gong around 1:15 in the afternoon. The practitioners gave him a copy of truth-clarification materials and a copy of the "Nine Commentary on the Communist Party". He then went to the Chinese Embassy for a visa application.

Security guard of the Chinese Embassy refused to let the Malaysian citizen enter

Something unbelievable then happened. The security guard at the Chinese Embassy singled him out, examined his backpack and refused to let him enter for his visa application. The Malaysian didn't have recourse but to ask a friend to help him get a visa.

Falun Gong practitioners approached the Malaysian man to ask him what had happened. They returned to their exercises after talking to him. Fifteen minutes later, two police cars and some policemen in plain clothes came over and took pictures of the Falun Gong practitioners. The Falun Gong practitioners believe the Malaysian man was refused entry to the embassy because he accepted the Falun Gong truth-clarification materials. Inasmuch as the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) does such things even in Singapore, it isn't hard to imagine how Falun Gong practitioners in China are treated.

Falun Gong practitioners in Singapore expose the persecution of Falun Gong in front of the Chinese Embassy.

On the afternoon of November 25, 2005, policeman He Xuejian raped Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Liu Jizhi and Ms. Han Yuzhi during their interrogation and detention at the Dongchengfang Township Police Station, in Zhuozhou, Hebei Province. Many rapists in police uniforms like He Xiujian have been exposed during the systematic persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang's regime. It is an affront to humanity that such utterly inhuman crimes are ignored.

Falun Gong practitioners call on Singapore's government and the international community to pay special attention to the human rights violations against Falun Gong practitioners in China and to help stop the brutal persecution. Falun Gong practitioners hope that the Singapore police will be clear about what is right and wrong. The people have a right to learn the facts about Falun Gong. The Singapore police should help practitioners spread the truth and stop the persecution, instead of responding to the Chinese embassy's false alarm by taking pictures of Falun Gong practitioners.

Germany: Falun Gong in Goettingen - Part 2

(Part One can be found at: /emh/articles/2005/12/10/67746.html)

Chinese Student: "I would like to make friends with you."

There are a lot of Chinese students in Goettingen; at one time the number of Chinese students was over 2,000. After seeing Falun Gong practitioners often, they have become accustomed to seeing them practicing the exercises. Some of them admired the practitioners very much. When passing by, they would approach the practitioners and greet them, or even say some caring words to them such as, "That girl who is practicing the exercises was my classmate; please remind her to put on heavier clothes next time - the weather is cold."

Trying to make friends with a practitioner, one of the Chinese students once told a practitioner his name, but it turned out to be a pseudonym. He and most other Chinese students there had a fearful and defensive mentality. One day, he went to a practitioner's home and associated with other practitioners. Afterwards, he told a practitioner that he was ashamed of himself for having used a pseudonym to associate with them, while all of the practitioners used their real names and always dealt with things with sincerity and honesty. In the end, he wrote a poem for the practitioners, praising them for their sincerity and perseverance.

    Touching stories

One day, a tall Asian boy stood in front of the practitioners, attentively watching their Falun Gong exercises for a long time until they finished. On the following day, he came again with his mother. Both of them attentively watched the practitioners practicing the exercises as if they had a thirst for learning them. After talking to them, the practitioners came to know that they were from Mongolia. The sixteen-year-old boy was there for a study project and they would go back to Mongolia a month later. Afterwards, they went to a practitioner's place to watch the exercise-teaching video and brought back a copy of Zhuan Falun in Russian.

Several practitioners have mentioned a touching story. An alcoholic man who was often intoxicated came to the practice site from time to time, showing no respect for the Falun Gong exercises. He would even run around trying to make the passersby laugh when the practitioners were practicing the exercises. At first, the practitioners did nothing about it.

One day, a practitioner intended to stop him, as he thought that if this man continued to disturb the exercise demonstration, it would not be good for his future. Therefore, he talked to him peacefully, "Please stop doing that, otherwise it will not be good for you." At that moment, the man didn't say anything. But after sitting there and watching the practitioners practicing the exercises for almost two hours, his eyesight turned clear. Then he took some money out of his pocket and handed it to a practitioner. The practitioner told him that Falun Gong has never accepted donations. When the practitioner shook hands with him, he was so touched that his body seemed to be shaking. Since then, that man went to the practice site as usual, but he has never caused practitioners any trouble. Instead, he often brought things like bread for the practitioners, and imitated the practitioners by putting his two palms together in front of his chest in a traditional Chinese greeting.

Through this incident, many passersby witnessed how Falun Gong practitioners deal with situations and they were impressed with the way the practitioners handled the problem. As a result, their attitudes towards practitioners changed significantly. From then on, the practitioners noticed that people's indifferent attitudes towards them were gone.

"Falun Gong practitioners are doing the most righteous things there, would you please make a detour?"

With the passage of time, people in Goettingen have come to know more about the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Moved by what practitioners have done, they often take the initiative to sign petitions in support of Falun Gong and bring something for the practitioners, such as flowers, food, etc. As Christmas is coming soon, one day when the practitioners finished practicing the meditation and opened their eyes, they were surprised to find a sugar-coated apple in front of each of them.

From time to time, journalists took the initiative to interview practitioners. As they had taken notice of the practitioners for a long time, they wanted to have a long talk with practitioners so as to learn more about Falun Gong.

After learning the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong, a youngster earnestly signed a petition to show his support for Falun Gong, and then he left with a smiling face. However, within ten minutes, he came back again with joy and asked the practitioners if he could sign the petition again. Afterwards, upon noticing a truck entering the square and moving towards the practitioners who were practicing the sitting meditation, he stopped the truck and told the driver, "As they are doing most righteous things there, would you please make a detour?"

Practitioners practicing the exercises has become a common scene in Goettingen

Constant drips wear down the stone

What these practitioners did seems to be nothing special, but with their perseverance for a long period of time, knowledge about the persecution against Falun Gong in China has spread extensively in that region. Their activities have been widely supported, not only by the general public but by the local government as well.

The Chinese Communist regime's persecution of Falun Gong has been going on for over six years. During this period, Falun Gong practitioners have incessantly brought the facts about Falun Gong to the general public. Their goal is to let people know the magnificence of Falun Gong and how it is cruelly oppressed in China, and how practitioners proceed with peaceful petitions based on the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance." Practitioners outside of China tell people how the practitioners in China risk their lives, regardless of tremendous pressure, to tell the public that Falun Gong is a righteous cultivation practice, that it is not a crime to practice Falun Gong, and that the persecution of Falun Gong must be stopped.

As an old saying goes, "Constant drips wear down the stone," and, "With tenacious efforts, one can grind down an iron bar into a needle." Stories of practitioners clarifying the truth can be found in every corner the world. With Falun Gong practitioners' incessant endeavors day after day, we are firmly convinced that justice will prevail and the Chinese Communist regime's persecution of Falun Gong will be ended.
