Recently the family of Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Hongli received a phone call from Panjin Prison authorities. They were requested to visit Zhao Hongli, who had already been on hunger strike for more than forty days.

When Mr. Zhao's family arrived at the prison, Zhao Hongli had already been taken back to the prison from the hospital. When the family saw Zhao Hongli, he was lying on a bed with his face up, and he could not move. His hands and legs were cuffed, he was given IVs and plastic tubes were stuck in his nose. The prison was forcibly giving him IVs and feeding him. Zhao Hongli was emaciated and had difficulty talking. A group leader named Gao greeted the family, and they were only allowed to try to persuade Zhao Hongli to eat. They never mentioned releasing him.

The family of Zhao Hongli raised questions about the medical treatment given to Zhao Hongli by the prison, and they asked to check the medical records. However, the doctors in the prison refused them with all kinds of excuses. Zhao's family was very upset by the deceptive actions of the prison authorities and their lack of concern for human life.

Before practicing Falun Gong, Zhao Hongli had congenital heart disease. After he got a job, he was deceived and participated in the reselling of cultural relics among friends. He was caught, tried and sentenced to eight years of imprisonment. His parents asked a police officer for help to get him released from prison. This police officer swindled them and they lost everything. Zhao Hongli swore in prison to take revenge on the police officer that had swindled his parents. But while Zhao Hongli was serving his sentence at the Lingyuan Prison in Liaoning Province, with the help of a Falun Gong practitioner he started to practice Falun Gong and his congenital heart disease healed without medication. His character also improved. He gave up thoughts of retaliation, and he followed the requirements of Falun Gong and was strict with himself. Later, in an accident at the prison, because he saved other people's lives at the risk of his own, he was released in advance in 1999. Because he practiced Falun Gong, Zhao Hongli was illegally arrested by police in April 2004 and sent to the Wujiawa Detention Center in Chaoyang City. On January 05, 2005 Zhao Hongli was sentenced eight years of imprisonment.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Meng Lijun from Zhangqiu, Jinan City, Shandong Province was illegally arrested. This, her ninth arrest, occurred on September 27, 2005. She has been incarcerated at the Jinan City Detention Center for two months. She is now on the brink of death after holding a long hunger strike. Her husband goes to the detention center almost weekly and asks to see his wife. The authorities not only deny his requests, but also threaten him.

The police stated, "We won't release her, even if she dies from the hunger strike." It is learned that the captors have sent Meng Lijun's case to Tianqiao District Procuratorate in Jinan City and are trying to persuade the judge to pronounce a heavy prison sentence. Meng Lijun's 83-year-old mother went to the Tianqiao Police Department to demand her release, but the police officers avoided her. Following are details of the arrest and her story:

On September 27, 2005, officers from the Criminal Investigation Section at the Qihe County Police Department arrested Meng Lijun at her residence. They also arrested Falun Gong practitioners Yu Chuanqi and Sun Yinsheng from Yanggu County, Liaocheng. The practitioners were later sent to the Tianqiao Police Department in Jinan City. The authorities from that police department sent Meng Lijun to the Jinan Detention Center, the former Liuchangshan Detention Center, and transferred practitioners Yu Chuanqi and Sun Yinsheng back to Yanggu County.

Meng Lijun is in her 40s and lived in Xifanliu Village, Zhangqiu, Jinan City. She has two young children. Because she persisted in Falun Gong practice, she was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor in 2002 and was at the brink of death after being tortured for more than 40 days. The perpetrators told her family to take her home to avoid taking responsibility. In order to avoid further persecution, Meng Lijun went into exile. In December 2004, police officers from the Tianqiao District, Jinan City ransacked her temporary residence. She was then held at the Liuchangshan Detention Center in Jinan City, where she went through the Death Bed torture. She was force-fed while tied up in a bed and was released only when she was at the brink of death from torture. The captors continued to monitor her and she again left home to avoid further persecution.

Following the most recent arrest, she has been holding a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The hunger strike has lasted two months and she is extremely weak right now.

In December 2004, practitioner Wang Fengyu from Laiwu, who was arrested along with Meng Lijun, was sentenced to nine years in prison at the Tianqiao District Court. She is currently held at the Shandong Prison.

The following is evidence about the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by Yan Zhiyou from Qiaodong District Police Department in Zhangjiakou City.

On October 24, 2000, a group of thirteen Falun Gong practitioners from Zhangjiakou City went to Beijing to appeal against the persecution of Falun Gong. They released a flock of doves as a symbol of the peaceful appealing on behalf of Falun Gong. However, they were arrested by police from Qiaodong District Police Department when they were near Xiahuayuan. Under the direct supervision of Zhangjiakou City Police Department Chief Li Jingyun, Qiaodong District Police Department Chief Yan Zhiyou and Deputy Chief Ma Fuwei directed the 1^st and the 3^rd Squadron, as well as the policemen from Wuyi Road, Hongqilou Road and Gongyejie Road Police stations to interrogate, torture, coerce, apply tiger bench torture to, force feed, and deprive sleep from detained Falun Gong practitioners. After more than 60 days of torture and detention, three practitioners were arrested, awaiting for a trial and sentencing, and six practitioners were sent to the Gaoyang Labor Camp in Baoding City, Hebei Province. The Gaoyang Labor Camp refused to accept these six practitioners because of their extremely frail conditions as a result of the torture. Ma Fuwei bribed the labor camp officials before they finally accepted the practitioners. One practitioner, Ms. Sun Yumei, suffered edema (swollen and bloated body) and was released by the labor camp within a few days. She died in October 2001 because her health had severely deteriorated. Ms. Fang Xiuzhen was released by the labor camp after half a year and was found to have brain cancer. She remains paralyzed to this day.

In April 2002, Qiaodong District Police Department Chiefs Yan Zhiyou and Ma Fuwei personally directed the surveillance of a Falun Gong information distribution site in the city. Qiaodong District's police patrol squad secretly monitored and tracked practitioners in and out of the site. At 6:00am on May 9, 2002, Qiaodong District Police Department's  3^rd Squadron was dispatched to arrest each practitioner at the distribution site. All equipment, information and personal property, including 5,500 Yuan in cash carried by Ms. Zheng Meiying to be used to pay her child's living expense were stolen and confiscated. Yan Zhiyou and Ma Fuwei tortured practitioners who refused to cooperate with them at the infamous Hongqilou police station, notorious for its brutal torture. This operation earned Qiaodong District Police Department's Patrol Group, the 3rd Squadron, Ma Fuwei, Xia Dexin, and Liu Jun commendations from the City Police Department and the City CCP Political and Judicial Committee. Falun Gong practitioners Wang Fengyi and Liu Zhaohui were sentenced to 7 years in prison. Liu Zhaohong and Zheng Meiying were sentenced to 5 years in prison. Wang Xinyu was sentenced to 3 years in prison. Finally, An Liqing and Zhang Xiaojun were sentenced to labor camps.

On May 10, 2002, under the command of Yan Zhiyou and Ma Fuwei, the policemen from the 3^rd Squadron arrested Falun Gong practitioner couple Wang Xinyu and Zhang Xiaojun when they were visiting another practitioner. After torture, coercion, interrogation, sleep deprivation, electric shocks, and "tiger bench" torture at Qiaodong District Police Department, Wang Xinyu was sent to the Shisanli Detention Center, remaining there up to this day. Zhang Xiaojun was sent to one year of "re-education" through labor at the Gaoyang Labor Camp in Baoding City in August 2002.

On the afternoon of May 10, 2002, police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. An Liqing, who was driving his car to visit another practitioner. They tied him to the "tiger bench" iron chair at the 3^rd Squadron center located at an old milk factory courtyard. During the night, Qiao Yukuan used a meter long chain (used to lock up a motorcycle) to slash An Liqing's feet. They did this until Liqing's feet became so swollen with bruises that he could not even wear shoes. They confiscated his cell phone and 700 Yuan in cash that he had with him. They also ransacked his home and stole items such as Falun Gong exercise tapes. On the evening of May 11, 2002, they transferred him to the Hongqi police station, and tied him to the "tiger bench" iron chair for more than a week. His lower leg swelled to the size of his thigh. The police station chief tortured and interrogated Liqing by savagely beating Liqing with a police baton. Then, they sent him to the Shisanli Detention Center for further detention. On August 16, they transferred him to the Gaoyang Labor Camp in Baoding City and sentenced him to one and half years of "re-education" through labor. Meanwhile, the police stole Liqing's car. After Liqing was released, he went back, asking for his car back. The police demanded that he curse Teacher and Falun Gong and write an affidavit giving up Falun Gong to get his car back. Ultimately, the police wrecked Liqing's car before they returned it to him. Even then, they still demanded a 3,000 Yuan payment for the car. Liqing's family was fined a total of 5,400 Yuan before they finally received the car, and they paid another 5,000 Yuan to repair it.

On May 16, 2003, another Falun Gong information distribution site was located and destroyed by Qiaodong District National Security Group and the Qiaodong Laoyazhuang Police Station. Nearly 100,000 Yuan was stolen and more than a dozen Falun Gong practitioners were arrested. Ms. Yang Yufang, a Falun Gong practitioner from Dongyaozi Township, Dongyaozi County in the Qiaoxi District, was persecuted to death.

Ms. Yang Yufang, 49, was arrested with another practitioner from their residence near Ningyuanbao in Qiaodong District on May 16, 2003. They were first detained at Qiaodong District Police Department's 3^rd Squadron, and after a few days of interrogation they were transferred to the Zhangjiakou Detention Center. Yang Yufang went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal persecution and detention, and suffered tremendously in form of urinating blood, blackened finger and toe nails, and their mental faculties being severely impaired. She could no longer stand up and walk around, and she was in critical condition. However, Yan Zhiyou, the policemen of the 3^rd Squadron, Zhang City Detention Center Chief Cui Weidong, and prison doctor Liu Shuping ignored the signs of danger from Yang Yufang. They did not care at all about her health. They did not release her or provide medical treatment for her. They continued dragging her into the open courtyard to expose her to the cold during the day, and dragging her back onto the concrete floor to sleep at night. On the 28^th day of her hunger strike, Yufang began losing consciousness and groaning in pain during the evening. All that she received was another round of beating by inmates as they dumped cold water over her body. The next morning (June 14), the prison doctor could not detect any blood pressure, as Yufang was on the brink of death. Not until around 11:00 a.m. did the detention center send her to the 5th Hospital in Zhangjiakou City. At around 2:00 p.m. on June 16, Qiaodong District Police Department sent for Yufang's family. They lied to her family members by stating that Yufang was a "leader," and her case was receiving "special attention" at the Communist Party Central Committee. Then they told her family members that Yufang suffered from a life threatening illness and was sent to the hospital, and that they took good care of her. Finally they claimed that Yufang suffered from diabetes, and she died at 12:05 pm on June 16, and her body was sent to the crematorium. Yufang's family was shocked because they knew that Yufang became very healthy after practicing Falun Gong. They knew that she never had diabetes. That evening Yufang's family members demanded to see her body but were refused. They were not granted permission until the next day. They noticed that the right side of Yufang's mouth, her right nostril, and her left ear had blood seepage. The right side of her face had dark patches of bruises. Her right wrist, inner part of her right arm, right kneecap, and lower leg all showed signs of injury. The right side of her back all the way down to her buttock area had large dark patches caused by internal bleeding. Yufang's family was distressed because they could not believe that a once healthy person could be persecuted to death in less than a month. Her family tried to file a lawsuit against the police, but no lawyer dared to take a case involving Falun Gong. Qiaodong District Police Department refused to explain what happened.

At around 6 p.m. on May 17, 2003, several other Falun Gong practitioners were arrested by Qiaodong District National Security Group, the Qiaodong Laoyazhuang Police Station, and the Ningyuanbao Village Public Safety and Security Committee at the temporary residence where practitioners Zhao Wenlan and Yang Yufang lived. The practitioners included Li Jun and Chen Liqing. Chen Ji was also arrested when he visited his sister Chen Liqing. Practitioners Ru Jianbin and Yin Weibing were detained for 7 days before being sent to the Shisanli Detention Center. On May 21, Falun Gong practitioners Wang Zhong and Zhou Guimei were also arrested at their rented house near Yangjiafen by deputies from the Qiaodong Shengli Street Police Station. They were also sent to the Shisanli Detention Center after 5 days of interrogation. All of them went on hunger strikes to protest the illegal persecution.

Only after Yang Yufang died on June 16 did police release Ms. Zhao Wenlan, Chen Liqing, and Zhou Guimei. However, before she had a chance to recover, Ms. Zhao Wenlan, a practitioner in her 60's, was arrested again from her home at Zhangbei County and sent to the Shisanli Detention Center. The police shocked Zhao Wenlan's face. Her facial was severely disfigured and bled from the shock wounds. The old lady continued to protest the persecution by hunger strike, and her health rapidly deteriorated.

After Chen Liqing was released, the local police returned to harass her, trying to arrest her as soon as her health improved. Chen Liqing was forced to leave her home and remains homeless to this day. Mr. Wang Zhong was sent to a Zhangjiakou brainwashing center, where he was detained for one year and eight months.

On November 28, 2003, the Qiaodong Court started the trial against Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zhao Wenlan, Mr. Li Jun, and Mr. Ru Jianbin, intending to further persecute them. Almost 100 Falun Gong practitioners went to the court to appeal for the release of the practitioners. They yelled, "Falun Dafa is good!" Qiaodong District Police Department sent many undercover policemen to hurt the Falun Gong practitioners. However, their attempt failed and the trial was postponed. Deputy Yang Dong from Qiaodong District Police Department's 3^rd Squadron managed to arrest Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Li Weisheng and Liu Jianming on his way back. Later, under the instruction of Qiaodong District Police Department, the Wuyi Police Station arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Lihua. The main culprits of these incidents were Ma Fuwei and Yan Zhiyou.

Toward the end of March 2004, Qiaodong District Police Department, Qiaodong Procuratorate and Court, as well as the Municipal Court secretly sentenced Ru Jianbin to 12 years in prison, Li Jun to 11 years, and Zhao Wenlan to 10 years. After the secret sentences, the deputies were afraid that the prison might not accept these practitioners due to their extremely poor physical conditions, so they took the practitioners to the 251 Hospital, where they performed IV injections before secretly sending them to the Mancheng Prison in Baoding City. They remain there to this day.

When Li Jun was arrested, the police from the Laoyazhuang Police Station ransacked his house. They stole his color TV, cell phone, motorcycle and other property totaling around 70,000 to 80,000 Yuan in value. They took Li Jun and other practitioners to the Zhangjiakou Squadron, cuffed them to the "tiger bench" for 7 days and nights, and detained them at the Shisanli Detention Center in Zhangjiakou City. In the winter of 2003, Li Jun's parents were notified by the court that Li Jun would be sentenced soon. Li Jun's relatives tried to find a lawyer and visit Li Jun at the Shisanli Detention Center, but they were refused. On April 26, 2004, when Li Jun's relatives tried to visit him at the Shisanli Detention Center again, they discovered that Li Jun was secretly transferred to a Tangshan Prison. His relatives went to Tangshan and visited every known prison, but did not find any trace of Li Jun. After continuous efforts, they finally discovered that Li Jun was detained at the Baoding Prison. However, the Baoding Prison guards refused to let his family to visit him.

Before the "Two Congresses" period in 2004, six Falun Gong practitioners went to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in Beijing and to clarify the truth. Yan Zhiyou and Ma Fuwei immediately sent them for re-education by labor. Within a month, they were sent to the Gaoyang Labor Camp in Baoding City.

Since the persecution started on July 20, 1999, Yan Zhiyou and Ma Fuwei have authorized more than 100 incidents of arrests, detention, sentencing, forced labor, brainwashing and persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

Ms. Wang Xiaoming previously suffered from breast cancer and was diagnosed as being in the terminal phase. After surgery in 1988, she tried many different Qigong practices to heal her illness, but none worked. She returned for a second surgery in 1992. Even though she tried almost every traditional Chinese and modern Western cancer medicine, as well as chemotherapy, her cancer worsened. The hospital declared that she could not be cured. She was under severe stress and pain, and had considered suicide several times. Toward the end of 1994, a friend introduced her to Falun Gong. She rigorously followed the requirements of Falun Gong, continuously raising her xinxing, working diligently at her job, and being considerate of others. Soon, her breast cancer receded without any treatment. Even the hospital staff thought that it was a miracle.

Facing the persecution by Jiang's regime, Wang Xiaoming was not intimidated into abandoning her faith in Falun Gong. As a result, she was severely persecuted and tortured. In December 2000, Xiaoming went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. The police arrested her and took her to the Xuanhua Detention Center in Zhangjiakou City. Yan Zhiyou and Ma Fuwei sentenced her to three years in prison. She was tortured at the Mancheng Prison and released in December 2003. On April 22, 2005, Yan Zhiyou and several other deputies from the Mingdebei police station again arrested Xiaoming, along with five other practitioners. They secretly sentenced Wang Xiaoming to four years in prison. On May 18, the Zhangjiakou Police Department arrested Xiaoming's son Zhao Jiang, daughter-in-law, and several friends (none of them practiced Falun Gong). Only recently were they allowed to return to work.

On December 23, 2000, Falun Gong practitioner Ms Wang Fengyi and her 72-year-old mother went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. Police in Beijing arrested them and took them to the Tiananmen Police Station. Wang's mother was released that day, but Wang Fengyi was transferred to the Zhaoyang City First Detention Center in Liaoning Province. The police forced Fengyi to curse Teacher and Falun Gong. They punched and kicked her, and poured cold water all over her body. They told her family after 8 days of detention and torture to come and take her home. When Fengyi's brother came to take her home, he noticed that his sister, who was tortured beyond recognition, was wearing only one shoe. Also, her workplace, the Zhangjiakou Electric Switch Factory, fired her. Her husband was greatly distressed by these events. He began beating Fengyi often, and he kicked her out of their home. Wang Fengyi ended up wandering about homeless. On May 10, 2002, under the orders of Ma Fuwei and Yan Zhiyou, the police arrested Fengyi near her temporary residence after trailing her for many days. She was detained for more than half a month at the Yaojiazhuang police station in Zhangjiakou City. She was deprived of sleep and subjected to brainwashing, and forced to give up practicing Falun Gong. They transferred Fengyi to the Xuanhua Detention Center after she refused to give up practicing Falun Gong. After detaining her for more than a year, they sentenced her to 8 years in prison. Fengyi was transferred to the Mancheng Prison in May 2003, where she has been tortured up to this day. Ma Fuwei, Yan Zhiyou, and another officer each received a 3,000 Yuan bonus because of their effort to destroy the Falun Gong information distribution sites. Ma Fuwei was promoted to become the Deputy Director of the Police Department. Wang Fengyi's family was broken apart simply because she wanted to practice Falun Gong and become a better person. Her daughter had no one to take care of her, which caused a tremendous mental burden to the little girl and resulting in strange behavior. Fengyi's parents worried so much about their daughter that her father passed away under sadness and stress. Fengyi's brother, sisters and relatives also worried about her, and they suffered under great mental distress.

Wang Guang is the director of Public Security and Safety at Ningyuanbao Village, Qiaodong district, in Zhangjiakou City. For quite some time over the past few years he has ordered his men to carry out surveillance and arrests of Falun Gong practitioners. They have arrested numerous Falun Gong practitioners who distributed truth clarification flyers at Ningyuanbao village. The Falun Gong practitioners were sent to the local police station, where they were further tortured. During the SARS epidemic in 2003, Wang Guang personally directed the surveillance as part of the overall persecution effort, destroying a Falun Gong information distribution point in Ningyuanbao village. Falun Gong practitioner Ms Yang Yufang was tortured to death, and many others suffered torture and imprisonment. Wang Guang currently is still aggressively taking part in the persecution of Falun Gong.

It was over 10 months ago when I was released from Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp. Despite being 60 years old, I suffered severe torture. My left hand was injured during the torture. After raising it, I cannot turn it. It is October 9 and nearly six months have passed, yet I still feel pain and I can no longer do the type of work that I did before the torture. Guards ordered two prisoners to straighten my hands and arms and tie each of them to a bed-post. Below is an account of what I suffered at the Hunan Province Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp.

The police arrested me on July 25, 2004. They illegally sentenced me to one year of forced labor at the Hunan Province Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp. The minute I got out of the car, I shouted "Falun Dafa is good." Some staff from the camp covered my mouth, and then dragged me for about 100 meters to a room in the C area of the No.7 Team. My clothes were ripped. My upper leg was injured, and I was in pain. Liu Aoxiang, Liu Baoyu and Tang Hongzhi, who were collaborators, pushed me against the wall, and kicked and punched me.

Then, guard Xiao Jie demanded that I write the three statements. Once they realized that I was uncooperative, they made me remain standing continuously and took turns torturing me. They kept threatening and deceiving me around the clock, and they also slandered Falun Gong. Guards from the forced labor camp subjected me to brutal mental torture and different kinds of physical torture for four days and nights. On November 23, they subjected me to same torture again for another five days and nights.

On December 13, guard Dou Xianglin, 23, said that it was time to make a contribution to the CCP. He constantly slandered Falun Gong. He covered the windows of some rooms in the C area with paper and left some openings, so that he could observe what was going on in the rooms. As I was in isolation, I feared that I would be executed. This situation did not stop for three more days. I was physically and mentally at the end of my endurance and thus signed the three statements against my will. For a total of 35 days, I was tortured day and night. I was not allowed to sleep until midnight and then for no more than about three hours.

Dou often curses at others, especially when he beats them, punching people with all his strength.

I thought that only by starting my practice over, getting rid of attachments and opposing the persecution, could I recover some of the losses. On December 27, Dou demanded that we write down our thoughts about the TV programs slandering Falun Gong. I refused. Therefore, Dou punished me by making me stand from morning until evening. After standing for ten days, my right foot felt as if needles were piercing it and I had to sit down. Dou then asked three collaborators to carry me to another room. I was kept isolated, not allowed to sleep, and they still tried to force me write the three statements. That night, it was so cold that I was freezing. The next day after midnight, Dou asked me whether I would write the three statements. I told him, "No!"

Dou hit me three times, and then asked again. "Will you write it or not?" I looked him straight in the eye and said, "No!" He poked my head with his finger and hit me a few times. Then he asked again, "Are you sure you don't want to write it?" I moved my head a little and looked at him, "No!" He slapped me another 7 or 8 times, and I could no longer stand up straight. Then he left angrily and told me that I was ruining his work. Then, Zhou, also a guard, came to talk to me. After I wrote down "Falun Dafa is good" and "the Minghui website is good," they gave up on harassing me.

On February 15, 2005, I found a piece of paper and was able to get a pen. I declared my three statements to be null and void. Dou ordered collaborators Zeng Sheng and Zhao Zhi to put me into a room in the C area. They beat me and forbade me to use the bathroom. I couldn't do anything else, so I went on a hunger and water strike to protest the persecution.

The following day, team leader Hu asked me why I had begun a hunger strike. I told him the reason and pointed to a big swollen blister on my head. On day 3, he again tried to persuade me. I said since I was a practitioner, I needed to do the exercises. That afternoon, I was dragged to the doctor's office to be force-fed. They pressed me down on a metal frame and tied up my hands and feet. Dou ordered collaborators to push the muscles beside my mouth very hard. Then, the camp doctor used a sharp iron utensil that went between the teeth and forced them open. Then he used another tool to force my mouth open wider. I was in great pain but couldn't talk. After I was force-fed some foul-tasting fluid, I could neither vomit nor swallow. I also couldn't move, even though I was suffering extreme pain. After I was force-fed, my mouth was full. They turned my face aside and some horrible smelling stuff came out of my mouth. I was force-fed like this several times.

I was suffering tremendously. Later they took that tool out of my mouth. My jaw was dislocated. I couldn't talk, and the guards and collaborators were laughing. The doctor fixed my dislocated jaw. When they were about to resume the force-feeding, I began to eat some food. I can't bear to remember how much I suffered from the force-feeding. I still feel scared. Also, my ribs were swollen for a long time after the force-feeding.

After I was forced-fed, Zeng and Zhao monitored me closely. Both of them practiced martial arts. They waved their fists and legs in front of me aggressively, as if they were about to strike me. They often said if I had cooperated, they could have returned home earlier. On February 28, I got ready to do the sitting meditation. Before I sat in the lotus position, Zeng and Zhao saw me. Immediately they ran towards me. One held one of my legs and pressed it down very hard, which made me groan in pain. I fell over to one side, and couldn't stand up for a long time.

Not until March 6 could I walk again normally. That day, I again got ready to do the sitting meditation. They treated me the same as last time, but this time my leg was injured and I limped as a result. In order to take a step, I had to move my leg with my hands. The collaborators laughed at me. They thought it looked funny.

After 12 days, my leg started to heal. That day, I did the standing exercises. Zeng and Zhao hit my hands until they became swollen. Then they put me against the bed pole and tied me to it. In the evening, after they released me, my left hand was injured.

On March 14, Dou asked me whether I still wanted to practice or not. I answered, "Yes!" Then he took me to another room in the C area, knocked me down, and the collaborator pulled me up. He asked me again whether I still wanted to practice. I began to do the exercises again. He pushed me to the ground while swearing at me. Then he left.

On March 17, I was transferred to area A. That day, when I was doing the standing exercises, Zeng and Zhao hit me on the hand with a stool. My hand became swollen immediately. He called for Dou, who took me to a dark room. There was a board that said, "Multi-function Room." Dou closed the curtains to block daylight from the outside, and then beat me. After I was beaten to the ground, I stood up and did the exercises again. This went on for a few times, until I could no longer get up. Only then did Dou stop hitting me.

On March 24, I practiced the exercises again. This time, Dou Xianglin and Liu Pingliang came by. Dou kicked me. When Liu saw that I still practiced, he slapped me in the face until my nose began to bleed. Seeing me doing the exercises, they began to hit me very hard and for a long time. Every time I fell to the ground, collaborators made me stand up. When I became muddle-headed, I saw cellmates turning their back towards us row after row, they were afraid to see those people doing this to me. After a while, they stopped beating me. I heard Dou saying in a cruel voice, "If you practice again, I will pull your leg until it is dislocated." He also said that he would beat me to death and throw my body into the Xiangjiang River as fish food.

This time I was very badly injured from the torture. My entire body hurt, my blood pressure went up to 170, and my heartbeat sped up so much that I couldn't go to sleep. On March 31, when I practiced the exercises again, Zeng and Zhao turned my limbs face up and tied them to the bed posts. I was in this position until 10 p.m. and the entire next day. When I was released from that position the morning of the third day, my hands were numb. My left hand was injured the worst. I could lift my hand, but I couldn't turn it. Today, October 9, nearly 6 months have passed, and I'm still in pain. As a result, I lost part of my ability to work.

After that I stopped doing the exercises. Around May 20, the guards came again. Liu began to abuse me during a meeting. On June 2, Falun Gong practitioner Liu Jinyu waved her hand and shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" I also shouted it once. They covered my mouth and dragged me to area C. I was transferred to Room 215 in area C for close monitoring.

On July 25, my one-year term was up. They made it very difficult for me. Criminals who continue to do bad deeds can gain early release after only two-thirds of their sentence is up. On the other hand, the forced labor camp staff extends the terms of Falun Gong practitioners who are good people. When practitioners are released, the guards force family members and officers from their hometown to pick them up. If they don't come, the practitioner's term will be extended.

For the past seven years, the Communist Party has persecuted Falun Gong. They either fine them one day or ransack their homes the next day. Staff from the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp has been assisting the evil to do bad deeds and has been persecuting practitioners non-stop.

Chadian Prison, a men's prison in Tianjin City, has incarcerated illegally sentenced Falun Gong practitioners from Beijing since November 2000. Presently, more than 140 practitioners are still being held in the prison. In order to deceive the public, the authorities have imprisoned male practitioners from Beijing in Tianjin. Mr. Li Chang, Mr. Wang Zhiwen and Mr. Ji Liewu are all members of the former Falun Gong Research Society and being illegally held at Chadian Prison.

By the end of 1999 many of the practitioners at Chadian Prison were sentenced to more than 10 years of imprisonment. Between 2001 and 2005 more than 20 practitioners were sentenced to 9-10 years of imprisonment. The rest were given sentences of five to eight years.

Those practitioners who were sentenced in November 2000 were held at separate prisons in Chadian, Tianjin City. In November 2000 these individual prisons were merged into one large prison capable of housing more than 1,000 people. All the imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners were held together in Qianjin Prison. Later, when the prison was unable to hold any more practitioners, they were diverted to other prisons.

During 2000 and 2001 the authorities were the most ruthless. The staged "Tiananmen Square Self-Immolation" incident deceived countless kind-hearted people, including the prisoners and the prison guards. Before the incident they all showed their understanding and sympathy toward Falun Gong practitioners because they witnessed the kindness of the practitioners. However, after the staged "self-immolation" incident, the prisoners and the prison guards all hated the practitioners and regarded them as murderers. As a result, they mercilessly beat the practitioners.

To try to force the steadfast practitioners to give up their belief, the prison guards adopted all kinds of methods to "transform" them. Those who were subjected to serious persecution included Mr. Xu Chengzao, escorted to the prison in November 2000, as well as Mr. Zhu Keming and Mr. Lin Shusen, who were imprisoned in January and February of 2001. Mr. Xu Chengzao was over 50 years old and a steadfast Falun Gong practitioner. The persecution he suffered was most serious and vile.

Winter in Chadian is extremely cold. The prison guards forced Mr. Xu to run outside and then to sing songs while standing for long periods of time. (1) Mr. Xu was subjected to this punishment despite being over 50 years old. Mr. Xu had scabs on his hands as a result of frostbite. However, this did not shake Mr. Xu's firm belief in Falun Gong. The prison guards hinted to other inmates that they should torture Mr. Xu. They used insidious and ruthless tactics to torture him. The inmates kicked him in places where injuries would not be seen by others. They pushed him to the ground and used a sharpened toothbrush to stab his buttocks, thighs, arms and ribs. They also inserted square chopsticks between his fingers and squeezed his hands while twisting the chopsticks. The pain Mr. Xu suffered was beyond description. One inmate even tore open the scab on Mr. Xu's hand, which caused heavy bleeding. This behavior was savage and ruthless. (This inmate was later sentenced to death for other crimes.)

Practitioner Mr. Lin Shusen was escorted to the Qianjin Prison in Chadian in February 2001. In order to force him to renounce Falun Gong, the prison guards deprived him of sleep for six days and ordered several inmates to observe him around the clock to prevent him from closing his eyes. During this time they used four to eight electric batons to beat and shock him. Mr. Lin was nearly beaten to death as a result. In May 2005 Mr. Lin Shusen was arrested again by the Xinjiekou Police Station of the Xicheng District in Beijing, and his whereabouts are still unknown.

Mr. Zhu Keming suffered from inhuman torture with electric batons while being held at the Beijing Prison in 2001. Mr. Zhu was firm in his belief and repeatedly appealed his sentence. As a result, he was placed in isolation in the "strict control cell" for one month. During this time he was not allowed to close his eyes for seven days. Mr. Lin, who was previously in good health, was changed beyond recognition and not of sound mind due to the severe torture.

Mr. Zhu Keming, Mr. Yang Jie, Mr. Li Jinpeng and Mr. Li Baoshu all suffered from electric shocks, which left scars in their bodies. Up to six people took part in the persecution.

Practitioners held several times in isolated cells under strict control from November 2001 to the present include: the staff of the original Falun Gong Research Society, Mr. Ji Liewu, Mr. Zhu Keming, Mr. Shi Shaoping, Mr. Lin Shusen, Mr. Shi Zhendong, Mr. Rong Wei and Mr. Jiang Tao. Among them, Mr. Shi Shaoping was held in an isolated cell under strict control from November 2004 to this day. He has a Master's degree and was working at the Chinese Academy of Science. In 2001, he was illegally sentenced to 10 years in prison. Right now he is being held at the No. 9 Sub-Imprisonment Area of the Chadian Prison in Tianjin and is awaiting forced brainwashing. Although under severe pressure, Mr. Shi has rebuffed the brainwashing many times and stated to the guards that it was wrong to impose this so-called "transformation." Because he spoke out like this, Mr. Shi Shaoping was put under strict control and placed in isolation many times. He was not allowed to meet or speak to other people or Falun Gong practitioners.

While in isolation the detainees usually suffer from despicable treatment. Even when the prison guards witnessed the maltreatment through the prison surveillance system, they would pretend they did not know what was going on. The victim placed in controlled isolation was forced to eat, sleep and relieve himself all in that one room. Under these circumstances, the living conditions soon became appalling.

As a matter of fact, every practitioner who arrived at the prison would be watched by several inmates. Everything he said and did would be strictly controlled. The perpetrators would talk to him during the day and force him to study and write his "confessions" in the evening. They also deprived practitioners of sleep. Until the practitioner renounced Falun Gong, he would not be allowed to sleep for more than five hours a day. These steadfast practitioners were physically and mentally injured as a result of such maltreatment.

1) The punishment "Being forced to stand for a long time" means that the victim has to stand facing a wall all day long except for the time spent eating, sleeping and using the toilet. This occurs from the time one rises at 5 a.m. until 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. the next morning when one is allowed to go to bed. This abuse usually lasts several days. If someone cannot withstand the intensity of prolonged standing and loses consciousness, the guards will then force-feed him or her with drugs.

In the summer of 2002, I was reported to the police for clarifying the truth. The local security office illegally sentenced me to three years of forced labor and then sent me to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. During the three years I was tortured at the Masanjia Labor Camp, my husband also suffered tremendously at home. I have now completed this sentence and have been released.

During the three years of detention in Masanjia I suffered every day under intense labor and was only served stale and moldy food. The guards allowed collaborators to do less work and were more lenient with them. They treated the determined practitioners very harshly.

During one period of time when the evil was very rampant, the guards and collaborators said to me, "If you still refuse to write the "Guarantee Statement" we will not allow you to sleep. You will be handcuffed and forced to stand all day and night facing the wall." Due to my shallow understanding of the Falun Gong principles and my attachments to fear, I was unable to endure the tremendous pressure and wrote the Guarantee Statement against my will.

I felt uneasy after that, and I began to think it over. I recalled Teacher's words, "Grand talk counts for naught when it comes to life and death, Actions reveal what is true".

I regretted what I did. Before I practiced Falun Gong, I suffered from various diseases such as dizziness, stomach problems and mammary gland proliferation. All these illnesses were cured after I practiced Falun Gong. Teacher cleansed my body. I once again began studying the principle of Falun Gong and practicing the exercises every day and evaluated myself according to the universal principle of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. I then realized that my writing the Guarantee Statement was cooperating with the evil and was the arrangement of the old forces. It was disrespectful to Teacher and Falun Gong. I then wrote a "Solemn Declaration" and submitted it to the guards. I told them, "I will rise from wherever I fall. Falun Gong is good. Falun Gong is righteous. There is nothing wrong with being Truthful, Compassionate and Forbearing. I will be unmoved and determined in practicing Falun Gong."

The guards said nothing.

I calmed down after submitting the declaration. I recited Teacher's articles every day. When guards tried to persuade me to change my mind, I clarified the truth to them.

At the Masanjia Labor Camp, when anyone shouts, "Falun Dafa is good," he is sent to solitary confinement or his term is extended. The screaming from solitary confinement can be heard at all times. The physical torture equipment includes items like the "iron plane," a "death bed" and the tiger bench, among others. There have been countless practitioners sent to solitary confinement or whose terms have been extended. On Teacher's birthday, practitioners together shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" All practitioners involved had their term extended. One such example is Ms. Wang Xiuyan, a 40-year-old practitioner from Benxi. She was detained in the group led by guard Huang Haiyan. One day in late 2004, Ms. Wang shouted, "Falun Dafa is good." Guards Wang Xiaofeng, Wang Shuzheng (the instructor), Liu Chunjie (male), Huang Haiyan and Liu Hui forcefully sent her to the solitary confinement. Huang Haiyan covered her mouth to prevent her from shouting while several other guards dragged her across the floor.

Ms. Liu Yinfeng, a 50-year-old practitioner from Dandong City, was detained under the group led by guard Shi Yu. One day in early February of 2005, she shouted, "Falun Dafa is good." As a result, her term was extended for three months.

The labor camp guards use various means to torture practitioners, causing severe damage to their health and their bodies. Ms. Zhao Caihua from Chaoyang was also from Shi Yu's group. She went on hunger strike and was repeatedly force-fed. As a result of this brutal torture she was unable to swallow and became very thin. Her life was in great danger. She was finally released in late 2003.

Ms. Chen Hong suffered a great deal in guard Cui Ji's group. She was handcuffed and forced to stay outside on extremely cold, wintry days.

The guards and collaborators press practitioners who are on a hunger strike to the ground and force-feed them. They use various means to torture practitioners, humiliate, and abuse them.

Although information about these vicious deeds that the guards in the labor camp commit has been strictly blocked, many people outside the prison know all about them.

Falun Gong practitioners did not have any diseases when they were initially detained as everyone passed the physical exam and the labor camp would not accept any person with a serious health problem. However, after a certain period of detainment many people developed serious health problems or were crippled. Some are unable to care for themselves and others are in critical condition. Many practitioners released from solitary confinement are unable to keep their backs straight. Their legs are crippled and their hands cannot hold anything. Sometimes a person will just disappear after being sent to solitary confinement and no one knows where they were taken. Under the orders of the labor camp director Su Jing, the guards and collaborators have committed serious crimes.

At the Masanjia Labor Camp the TV always broadcasts the fabricated materials made up by fake scientists or "Qigong experts." They try to brainwash practitioners. They also invite so-called "experts and professors" from outside to confuse practitioners using the evil Party's culture. Some practitioners with shallow understandings of the principles of Falun Gong have been "transformed" and have taken a deviant path. They have cooperated with the police to transform other practitioners. Once they were deceived the guards instigated them to help torture other practitioners. Their minds are completely controlled by the old forces. They do whatever the guards tell them to do.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Linping, about 30 years old, is a resident of Liyuan Village, Tongzhaipu Town, Tanghe County, Henan Province. He and his mother rely on each other to survive. In the afternoon of October 19, 2005, in the full light of day, police from the Political and Security Section of the Tanghe County Police Department illegally arrested Liu Linping, who was working on the farm. The police later ransacked Mr. Liu Linping's home.

Practitioner Ms. Wang Huiqin from An'qiu City, around 50 years old, was an employee of the An'qiu City Light Industry Engine Factory. She lived at the residence building of the Factory. In November 2005, Ms. Wang was arrested while at work. The police searched her body and took her keys. The police also searched her home when there was no one at home.

On the morning of November 23, 2005, practitioner Mr. Yin Sirong from Chengdu Metallurgy Experimental Factory was working at the administration office of the Oriental Sunlight Mall in Liulichang, Chengdu City. Personnel from the Chenghua District 610 Office, together with over ten police officers appointed by the Fuqing Road Office, were stationed at three gates of the district, waiting to arrest Yin Sirong. Mr. Yin Sirong saw through their trick, and escaped from a side door. Now he has been forced to leave his home and he remains homeless.

On November 26, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Dr. Li Defa, a doctor from the Sanli Village Medical Clinic of the Juntai Office, Yuzhou City, was illegally arrested and taken to the Yuzhou City Police Department.

Ms. Wu Yan from Beijing was arrested for clarifying the truth close to Tiananmen Square on November 23, 2005. Her current whereabouts are still unknown.

Mr. Wang Weichuang from Shenyang City was arrested after 7:00 p.m. on November 23, 2005, by a group of police officers from the hair salon where he worked. A fellow practitioner, whose name is unknown, was also arrested.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Qi Xin from Laiwu City is now 19 years old. Her parents were illegally arrested on September 20, 2005. Her father was forced to leave home after he was able to leave the detention center. Her mother was sentenced to a forced labor camp after she was force-fed for many days. Currently, Qi Xin's mother is being held at Wangcun Forced Labor Camp.

Ms. Qi Xin has a teenage brother at home. Qi Xin disappeared after she went out to work on September 20. For a while, no one knew where she was. After several investigations and confirmation, it was learned that Ms. Qi Xin was secretly arrested by police officers Liu Qing and Zhang Baode from the Laicheng District Police Department of Laiwu City. Qi Xin is currently held at the Laiwu City Detention Center.

Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Yang Zhuanrong (over 40 years old), Mr. Yang Bo (over 30 years old), Ms. Zhang Shufen (over 30 years old) and Ms. Chen Liuping (over 50 years old), from Hechi, Guangxi Province were followed and reported for giving out truth-clarification materials. After they were arrested, they were jailed for almost four months. On November 18, 2005, the four practitioners were illegally tried by the Hechi Court.

On November 23, 2005, Ms. Hu Yunping and her husband were arrested by the Zhongyuan Oil Field 610 Office. Their home was illegally searched.

At around 9:00 p.m. on November 14, 2005, Ms. Li Qingmei, Ms. Liu Guifang, Ms. Cui Fenglan and Ms. Zhou Huajun from Northern Bali Village were reported to the police when they were having group study. Later, they were arrested by the police and taken to the Chiping County Detention Center.

On November 22, 2005, practitioners Ms. Sun, Mr. Yang Dong and his wife from Yazihe, Songshan District were arrested and taken to the Xianyang Police Substation, Songshan District. The National Security Team of the Chifeng City Police Department and the Hongshan District Public Security are responsible for the arrest of these two Falun Gong practitioners.

Practitioner Ms. Chen Zhuyi, around 60 years old, was arrested by security officers who were hiding outside of the vehicle when she went to post truth-clarifying materials in the Qiaonanzhong District. Currently, no one knows where she is being jailed.
