The Facts of the Persecution of Falun Gong  -- December 7, 2005

My name is Wang Jinfeng. I am 40 years old and live in Fuxin City, Liaoning Province. On May 23, 2002, I was sentenced to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for two-and-a-half years. During this period I witnessed the guards beating and torturing Falun Gong practitioners. They tied the practitioners' legs, shocked them with electric batons, slapped their mouths, forced them to squat, didn't allow them to sleep for days on end, forced them to stand on a small brick and detained them in solitary confinement, among other methods.

On May 23, 2002, I went to Group 5, Division 1. The division head was Wang Xiaofeng and the group head was Zhang Chunguang. Although I had not eaten for three days then, they tied me up so I could not move, injected me with unknown drugs and force-fed me. I know that Falun Dafa is great righteous. I therefore refused to "reform" and held a four-month-long hunger strike. I was extremely weak.

In November 2002, the labor camp authorities started to "reform" Falun Gong practitioners through torture. At first, they forced me to squat for seven days until I was dizzy and nauseous. I vomited but was still tied to a heating pipe. In December 2002, many practitioners were dragged downstairs, tied and hung up on the first floor. They were not allowed to sleep and were later sent to forced brainwashing.

Group head Fang said, "Those who think 'reform' is wrong, step forward and leave this room." I left the room. In the afternoon, group head Zhang Chunguang hung me up in midair for a whole night, during which time I vomited repeatedly. The next day they hung me up again for another night. I couldn't take it anymore and lost consciousness. I experienced terrible chest pain, more than I could endure. On the third day they sent me to forced brainwashing. Zhao Yonghua asked, "Is Falun Gong a [slanderous words omitted]?" I said, "No! Falun Dafa is righteous!" I was dragged to the stairwell and my legs were tied for several hours. The following day group head Zhang Chunguang tied my legs in my dorm room for another 12 hours. The pain was excruciating. Zhang Chunguang coerced me into cursing Master, and I said some filthy words against my better judgment. I regretted it so much and I felt I did not deserve to live anymore.

After my husband and I were married we fought constantly because of our different personalities. Our parents were heartbroken because of our nonstop "warfare." My husband was an alcoholic and also gambled. Once he got into a fight and smashed the windows at his parents' home. He also coerced me into agreeing to a divorce. After I studied Falun Gong, however, I got along with my husband and my family was very happy for us. My friends envied me because my family became so harmonious. I took care of my parents and stopped doing bad things, and I no longer cursed or hit people; yet the government decided that a good person must be sent to a labor camp to be abused. Where is justice? The government is using cruel torture to rob people of their independent thinking and freedom of belief. Where are the heavenly principles?

In June 2003, the labor camp authorities organized a Tai Chi teaching session. I didn't learn it and I just stood there. Zhang Chunguang dragged me to the office and slapped my face about 50 times until my face swelled and I was seeing stars. He also used other corporal punishment on me. He detained me in the office for seven days and in the restroom for twelve days, during which time he didn't allow me to sleep. I was severely traumatized. Even now, I still suffer dizzy spells and chest pain.

In November and December 2003, the labor camp authorities again coerced us to "reform." They would not let us sleep if we refused to "reform." I was not allowed to sleep for one month and was sent to the Comprehensive Building where Falun Gong practitioners are persecuted. A "collaborator"' team from Shenyang City whacked my head with thick books. The books bounced off because they used so much force. My head sustained numerous wounds. Several collaborators took turns slapping my mouth and kicking me. After I was "reformed" under pressure and torture, I was sent to Group 3 of Division 3.

After I went to Group 3, head Dong Suxia sent me back to the Comprehensive Building. The Collaborators' Team was using all kinds of tactics to abuse Falun Gong practitioners. They would yell at Falun Gong practitioners; after each sentence they would beat and kick the practitioner. They also forced the practitioners to squat and didn't allow them to sleep. I was held at the Comprehensive Building for 15 days. I vomited and lost consciousness, but they still tried to brainwash me.

In March 2004, group head Dong Suxia forced me to stand for three days without sleep. Then she placed me under "strict control" for 50 days. I vomited and trembled. I was weak and often lost consciousness. I could barely walk.

In 2005, the authorities made us clean corn. I fainted and did not have the strength to do the work. The group head cursed me, saying, "Why didn't you die from the hunger strike?" They took me to the Masanjia Hospital and spent 300 yuan on medical treatment. I had been to the Masanjia Hospital three times and was once sent to Shenyang City. They knew that I was not strong and often suffered dizzy spells; yet they continued to torture me. I had not committed any crime. I have my belief, and no one has the right to persecute me.

Dong Suxia forbad the practitioners to speak and said to me, "Just think of yourself as a dumb person." Yesterday, practitioner Zhang Suxia was taken to solitary confinement and tortured. Torture of Falun Gong practitioners is very common here at the labor camp.

The guards are unscrupulous. They would do anything to "reform" Falun Gong practitioners. They coerced us to learn Tai Chi and forbad us to practice Falun Gong. Practitioners Zhang Chunmei, Su Ming and Hu Ying from Division 1 demanded the right to do the Falun Gong exercises and, as a result, were tied to benches all year long. The authorities would let us practice anything but Falun Gong. They want to completely destroy Falun Gong practitioners' freedom of belief.

Guards Zhang Chunguang, Dong Suxia and others severely violated Falun Gong practitioners' human rights. They ruthlessly tortured and abused Falun Gong practitioners. They dragged them out, mistreated them and didn't allow them to eat. They claimed, "If you don't write "guarantee statements" today, tomorrow you'll be labeled a 'counter-revolutionary'." Falun Gong practitioners are tortured until they are skin and bones and many are on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Enticed by promotions and economic benefits, all the 610 Office personnel in Zhejiang Province and many guards from the Shiliping Forced Labor Camp cruelly persecute Falun Gong practitioners. While this article exposes some of the brutal persecution against practitioners taking place in Shiliping Forced Labor Camp, it is only the tip of the iceberg.

Between 2000 and 2003, the Shiliping Forced Labor Camp guards persecuted illegally detained, steadfast practitioners from Zhejiang Province by using electric batons, the water dungeon, force feeding them with hot chili water, the tiger bench, suspending them in the air and beating them, and confining them in a small cell. Practitioners were deprived of sleep for five days and nights at a time. Since they were also prohibited from using the bathroom, they had to soil their pants. Some practitioners were locked in a cell less than 10 square meters. They were bound to a chair and were illuminated by a spotlight for several days and nights with a loudspeaker next to their ear at over 80 decibels. Practitioners were tortured until they became very weak and developed many kinds of diseases. Practitioners Zhu Changmin, Xiang Xianping, Fan Zebin, Peng Xiaodong, Huang Guanghui, and Song Chenggang were all physically tortured in a most cruel and painful manner. For example, Mr. Fan Zebin, an elderly farmer from Jinyun County, was hung from an iron door for 15 hours, causing injury to his hands and feet. He still has scars to this day.

Mr. Jiang Jialin from Longquan City was suspended from a window by his arms that were tied behind his back. Only the tip of one foot was allowed to barely touch the floor. After five days and nights, his hands and feet became swollen with thick blisters on the skin. Practitioner Zhu Hongmai from the Quhua Group in Zhejiang Province was detained and beaten. Practitioner Mr. Guo Xianwen from Yuhuan County, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, was detained in solitary confinement for a long time. He was force fed because he was on a hunger strike. After August 2003, he was detained alone for over nine months in a small cell, where he was spiritually tortured and threatened. His body is completely swollen and his life has been in danger more than once.

At the beginning of 2004, practitioners Zhu Zuoxin and Jiang Xiaoshen were detained separately. Guard Mou Zhongming from the No. 4 group in the labor camp pasted a picture of a nude woman next to Zhu Zuoxin's bed. Guard Li Hongqing forced practitioners Jiang Xiaoshen and others to get up in the middle of the night to watch a pornographic video.

In July 2004, some practitioners who did not give up practice were locked in a small cell only over 10 square meters and were prohibited from seeing sunlight all day.

It was very hot in the summer of 2004. The police ordered practitioners to stand on the playground and walk in formation for several hours. The pavement was blistering hot under the fiery sun. The practitioners sweated out all their fluids, and their sweat-drenched clothing dried, leaving white salt stains.

Practitioner Mr. Zhang Jianbo from Zhejiang Province, 30 years old, who moved from Xiantao City, Hubei Province, is an ex-graduate student from Zhejiang Industry University. Mr. Zhang was on a hunger strike for 49 days in the labor camp and in life-threatening condition more than once. Mr. Zhang Jianbo's family members reportedly went to the labor camp to try to visit him but were refused by the labor camp officials.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Zhirong was born in 1962. He was a teacher at Tuanjie Elementary School in the Xifeng District, Qingyang City, Gansu Province. He began the practice in 1995.

On December 4, 1999, Liu Zhirong and several other practitioners, including Xu Feng, went to Beijing to appeal for the justice for  Falun Gong. After they returned to Qingyang City, they were illegally arrested. The police sent them to a detention center where they were held for more than 70 days. During this time period guard Zhen Xiang savagely beat them. Zhen Xiang was the main person in charge of persecuting Falun Gong at the National Security Division in the Xifeng District Police Department in Qingyang City. He verbally abused and also threatened, intimidated and beat almost all of the local practitioners who were arrested and sent to the police department. He has since been transferred to the Security Division of the Xifeng District Tobacco Company.

On the morning of April 10, 2000, Zhen Xiang went to the Tuanjie Elementary School and tricked Liu Zhirong into going to the police department with him. He detained Liu Zhirong. Practitioners Xu Zhenze, Li Ruihua, Jiao Lili, and Yao Qikui were also held at the police department at that time. In the afternoon, the practitioners were sent to a drug rehabilitation center and were locked in the same room as drug addicts. They were later taken to the Xifeng District where they were subjected to a public trial and were humiliated by being paraded through the streets in Xiaojin Town. During this "public trial," Liu Zhirong was sentenced to one year of forced labor. On April 25, he was sent to the Pingantai No. 1 Forced Labor Camp in Lanzhou City. His term was also extended by three months. He was released on July 1, 2001.

On April 28, 2002, Zhen Xiang and other police officers went to Mr. Liu Zhirong's place of employment and attempted to coerce him to submit to fingerprinting a document. Liu Zhirong refused and tried to leave, but he tripped and fell. The police officers pinned him to the ground. They then kicked him and stomped on him, and beat him with police batons. Mr. Liu Zhirong's head was covered in dirt. He was maneuvered into a police car as the police jostled, cursed, hit and kicked him.

At the same time, another group of police officers ransacked Liu Zhirong's home. No one was home, so the police requested instructions from Zhen Xiang. Zhen Xiang went to Liu Zhirong's home and ordered the officers to destroy the locks on the door. They broke several locks, barged inside and turned the home upside down. They even went through the garbage. They took many Falun Gong books, exercise tapes and music tapes.

Police officer Zhen Xiang has always been a roughneck and has never hesitated to throw punches and kick people. He put one foot on Liu Zhirong's chest while Liu Zhirong was lying on the ground and viciously cursed him. The other officers threw the arrest documents in front of Liu Zhirong and told him to fingerprint them in a half-kneeling position. Liu Zhirong firmly refused. Zhen Xiang savagely twisted Liu Zhirong's arm until it was severely sprained and he could not move it. Due to the excruciating pain, Liu Zhirong broke out in a cold sweat that soaked his shirt. Drops of sweat wetted the concrete ground around body.

On the afternoon of April 30, the police took Liu Zhirong to a detention center. Liu Zhirong said, "I'm not a criminal!" He held fast to the door and refused to enter. The police beat him and dragged him inside. He held a hunger strike and later lost consciousness. The police sentenced him to three years of forced labor. He was later transferred to a drug rehabilitation center. He protested and was brutally beaten. The guards carried him back to the detention center.

On the afternoon of July 28, 2002, Liu Zhirong left the detention center with the power of his righteous thoughts. The police searched for him and lived at his home for several days straight. They intimidated his wife Chang Xiuling to turn him over to the police, but she refused. The police followed and monitored his family. During the time Liu Zhirong lived away from home, he broadcast videos clarifying the truth about Falun Gong in Gansu Province. On October 25, 2002, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison at the Chengguan Court in Lanzhou City.

In late October 2003, Liu Zhirong was transferred to the Dashaping Prison in Lanzhou City. Because he refused to follow his guard's demands while being held in prison, he was incarcerated in solitary confinement. On December 25, 2003, he was transferred to the Dingxi Prison in Gansu Province to be further persecuted.

The Hecheng District party committee government office of Huaihua City, Hunan Province, is located on Xing Street in Huaihua City, Hunan Province. The Huaihua City Hecheng District Statistics Bureau is on the fifth floor of the District Committee Office Building. On February 21, 2005, the staff witnessed Security Bureau and 610 Office agents violently arresting a Falun Gong practitioner.

Mr. Yang Shengxin, a 42-year-old cadre of the Huaihua City Hecheng District Statistics Bureau, started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. Before practicing Falun Gong, his health was very poor. He suffered from an ulcer, prostatitis and other sicknesses. After practicing Falun Gong, he attained good health and was always energetic. His conscientious work earned a very good review from his director and colleagues. Due to his steadfast practice of his belief in "Truth, Compassion, Forbearance" and clarifying the truth, he was illegally arrested and detained many times. In 2001 he was illegally sent to forced labor for one year.

Around 3 p.m. on February 21, Mr. Yang and his colleague were at a training session on how to operate software for the National Economic General Survey in the office computer room. Shu Yong from the National Security Unit, Zeng Xiaoqi from the 610 Office, Yang Kunming from Wenhuashan Police Station, and another policeman suddenly intruded and said, "Yang Shengxin, we are looking for you!" Mr. Yang answered, "What is it about?" Shu Yong said, "We would like to ask you a few questions to understand a certain situation." Mr. Yang adjusted himself a little and answered, "If there is anything, let's talk in my office." He then walked toward the door of the computer room. His office was just across the corridor from the computer room. Without saying a word they grabbed Mr. Yang's arms and pulled him out of the computer room into the corridor. Mr. Yang cried out loudly while struggling, "What are you doing?" One of the ruffians said, "Cuff him!" They dragged Mr. Yang through the office with the intention of arresting him. He cried out loudly, "Falun Dafa is good! The 610 Office is here to arrest people. The Security Bureau has come here to seize people." His voice aroused the whole floor, and his colleagues put down their work and gathered to see what was happening.

The ruffians saw that they were not successful in handcuffing Mr. Yang but had, instead, attracted a lot of onlookers. They took off Mr. Yang's shoes and let both of his legs hang in the air. Then they pulled his legs and pushed his arms behind his back and pushed him onto the floor, stepping on his head heavily. Seeing Mr. Yang's struggles and pleas for help, a bystander said to the police, "This is a society ruled by law. Why do you people not follow the law and just seize people at will!" One of them answered, "What are you saying? This is nothing that concerns you." Then he started an argument with the bystander. During the arrest, Mr. Yang Shengxin was finally handcuffed and dragged from the fifth floor to the first floor. His loud screaming for help alarmed the police. They tried to cover his mouth a few times but failed. They dropped the idea of covering his mouth after seeing so many people watching. They pushed Mr. Yang into a sport sedan that was parked in front of the building.

At this time, one of the policemen from the Wenhaushan Police Station angrily told Mr. Yang, "If you scream, we will kill you!" At the same time, he choked Mr. Yang's neck with both of his hands and nearly strangled him. The violence damaged Mr. Yang's throat, which took nearly two months to recover. The sport sedan arrived at the Wenhuashan Police Station, which is a sub-branch of Hecheng Security Bureau in Huaihua City. The Wenhuashan Police Station is inside this office complex, which is just 50 meters away from the district communist committee office building. They did not use a police car but only used a small car to deliver the arrested Falun Gong practitioner.

At the Wenhuashan Police Station, Mr. Yang's hands were cuffed behind his back so tightly that the cuffs cut into his wrists. He was not allowed to go to the restroom. They only released his handcuffs when the City National Security Bureau and 610 Office people came to question him in the evening. From being handcuffed so tightly for such a long time, his fingers stayed numb for more than two months. When facing questioning from the National Security Bureau, 610 Office and police, Mr. Yang did not answer a word. They tried to gather some clues by pretending to be compassionate and only talking about daily matters. When Mr. Yang asked them why they had arrested him, they glared at him, "You understand clearly yourself. Just tell us what you have done." Even now Mr. Yang Shengxin does not know why they arrested him, because he has not done anything against the law. The people questioning Mr. Yang changed many times. They took turns to rest. He was handcuffed overnight.

The next morning, Mr. Yang Shengxin was moved to the Huaihua Number 2 Detention Center.

It is not acceptable to heavenly law to persecute kind people. Those who persecute Falun Gong practitioners will eventually receive their just due.

1. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Li Wenjun Has Been on a Hunger Strike for Over Three Months

Mr. Li Wenjun, a Falun Gong practitioner from Jilin City was sentenced and imprisoned in the Jiutai forced labor camp. He has been on a hunger strike for over three months, starting August 14, 2005. He is being force-fed two times a day.

The head of the Jiutai forced labor camp administration section is Zheng Hailing. Sources indicated that Mr. Li is not able to walk, but the section chief of the forced labor camp still won't release him.

Sources have let us know that the court of the Longtan Division, Jilin City sentenced Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ming Yan to six years in prison. She is being held at the first (or the third) Detention Center.

Ms. Yang Jinping, a Falun Gong practitioner from Zhengding County, Hebei Province, was a teacher in Zhengding County. On October 1, 2005, the police arrested her and then sent her to the Zhengding County Detention Center. She went on a hunger strike in order to protest the imprisonment. She was very weak due to the brutal force-feeding she was subjected to. The Zhengding County 610 Office is hiding the truth about the persecution of Ms. Yang. In October, they secretly sent Ms. Yang to the Wuji County Detention Center in the Hebei Province.

Mr. Ma Wenlong, a Falun Gong practitioner from Baimiao Village, Xihu Township,

Yanggu County, Liaocheng City, Shandong Province was arrested before October 1, 2005, and sent to a forced labor camp for one and a half years.

Mr. Yu Chuanqi, a Falun Gong practitioner from Wulimiao Village, Yanggu County, Liaocheng City was arrested in Jinan before October 1, 2005. He then went on a huger strike and almost died. He was secretly sent to the hospital in November, and then a few days later, he was secretly sent to an unknown location. Nobody knows Mr. Yu's whereabouts at this time.

On November 4, 2005, Ms. Ding Shuqing was imprisoned at the 3rd Division of the 7th Unit in Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp because she shouted, "Falun Dafa is good," at a refectory. A police team tied Ms. Ding to a bed with her legs and hands tightly tied together, so she could not move at all. She had to be fed by other people.

Mr. Zai Bing is a Falun Gong practitioner from Qidong County, Jiangsu Province. The "610 Office" ransacked Mr. Zai's home although they had no evidence. He has been in prison since May 2005, which is more that six months.

During the detention term, Mr. Zai's family did not receive any news about him from the police. The lawyer was not able to learn about his situation either.

On November 15, 2002, I was arrested and sent to the 5th Division in Hulan Prison. At the beginning of 2002, I started a hunger strike for eight days, to protest my arrest.

From April 24 to April 29, 2003, the police staff commissioner, Li Mingjun and the group leader, Wangbin ordered prisoners to violently torture me. The prisoners, Wangyu, Liang Haitao, Yu Hai, Liu Dazhuang, Hu Xiaofeng and Sun Liang took turns monitoring me during three shifts a day. They did not allow me to sleep, eat or drink, and forced my leg and arm joints to bend backwards. I was forced to write the three statements against my conscience.

From October 20 to October 29, 2003, the policemen, Li Mingjun and Wangbin incited the prisoners, Zhang Li, Lu Yuechen, Wang Yu, Mao Wenjun, and Song Zhaolong to brutally torture me. They forcefully bent my leg and arm joints backwards. They used plastic bags to cover my head; I was forced to sit on the Tiger Bench, and was force-fed with chili pepper and salty noodles through my nose. As a result I suffered severe injuries to my chest. I could not stretch my back because of my waist injury. I could not walk, but they still forced me to work. My health has improved since October 2004.

Mr. Li Shuxian, a Falun Gong practitioner from Dakoutun Township, Baozhi District, was reported when he clarified the truth. He was sent to a forced labor camp for one year. The forced labor camp authorities did not accept him, because his health was not good.

Ms. He Jiaodi, twenty-two years old, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Hubei Province. She was arrested because of spreading truth clarification materials while working on her part-time job. She was forced to wear leg cuffs for over one month, and was forced to do handiwork. She was sentenced to a forced labor camp for two years. She is now at the 3rd Unit of the Sanshui Women's Forced Labor Camp, Foshan City, Guangdong Province.

Ms. Li Jinyu, fifty-eighty years old, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Shanghai City. The police arrested her when she clarified the truth on October 19, 2005. She was sent to a forced labor camp for one year. In August 2001, she had been sentenced to a forced labor camp for two years.

Mr. Hu Jinyan, a Falun Gong practitioner from Shandong Province has been imprisoned at the Changle forced labor camp.

Mr. Hu is fifty-two years old. In September 2001, he was sentenced and sent to the Changle forced labor camp for three years. He was released when his detention term was over. Because he clarified the truth to the 610 Office on November 15, 2005, he was arrested, and his home was ransacked. The police took Master's books and Mr. Hu's Falun Gong materials.

In September 2002, Mr. Hu's wife, Ms. Guo Sufen was sentenced to seven years in prison. She is at the Shandong Province Women's Prison. Mr. Hu's family has an eighty-two year old mother and two young daughters at home.

On April 20, 2004, Mr. Qiao Jianpeng, a Falun Gong practitioner from Beijing City, was arrested at the Beijing Union University because someone reported him. He was monitored for six months and then sent to court

Afterwards, Mr. Qiao was sentenced to eighteen months in jail. The time when he was monitored is not included in the eighteen months prison term. He has already been imprisoned for nineteen months and is now at the Detention Center in the Ciaoyang District, Beijing City.

Inside sources informed us that the Zhaoyuan City 610 Office arrested Falun Gong practitioners, Mr. Chen Shihuan, Mr. Wang Songwu, Ms. Chen Shuhua, Ms. Zhang Shuxiang, Ms. Cang Shujie, Ms. Li Dezhen and Ms. Wen Keying. They were secretly convicted and sentenced to four, five or six years in prison. They have been in prison since April 2005.

Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Wang Jianhua, was clarifying the truth on November 16, 2005, and was then arrested by the Qianjin Street police station in the Xingqing District. The police not only ransacked his home but also searched his mother's house. The police did not follow any laws, but they still detained Mr. Wang at the Administration Detention Center.

Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Gao Zhijiao, was a labor union employee in Nanjing City. She is from Yingyuanxi Village, Xuanwu District. On the morning of September 30, Hongshan police station arrested her. As of today, she is still in prison. During her prison term, she clarified the truth and encouraged people to quit the CCP. The local government became nervous, so they sent her to a forced labor camp for one year. Sources indicate that not only the 610 Office but also the police department and the National Security Bureau have participated. Ms. Gao had been sent to forced labor camps many times before.

Mr. Wang Yuesheng, 57 years old, lived in Fengsheng Township, Linhe District, Bayannaoer City, Inner Mongolia. After he started practicing Falun Gong, his health was restored. He was able to follow the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," and those who knew him thought of him as a good person. Nonetheless, in August 2001 officers from the local 610 Office illegally arrested Wang Yuesheng. Mr. Wang's wife, Ms. Li Ai'liang, is also a Falun Gong practitioner. Personnel from the 610 Office and the police department threatened the couple, and told them that at least one of them would be arrested. Ms. Li was sentenced to three years of "re-education" through forced labor in exchange for her husband's freedom. Since then, public security officials continuously harassed Mr. Wang, which put a lot of pressure on him and his family. During the years of persecution he suffered, Mr. Wang was tortured both physically and mentally. Finally, his former illnesses returned, and he passed away on November 4, 2005.

Sixty-four-year-old Ms. Zhu Qibi was a former employee of the Sichuan Drama Troupe in Xuanhan County, Sichuan Province. Her illnesses were cured after she started practicing Falun Gong. On October 21, 2000, corrupt officials from the local police station ransacked her home because she distributed Falun Gong truth-clarification materials. After her arrest, Ms. Zhu was illegally detained at the police station. She was later released through the intervention of family members. Ms. Zhu continued to clarify the facts after she was released. Consequently, personnel from the local 610 Office, the police station, the Culture Office, the Neighborhood Committee and her work unit closely monitored, harassed and threatened Ms. Zhu. Due to the long-term strain and fear she was subjected to, she suffered a relapse of her previous illness, and passed away on November 27, 2004.

Ms. Zhang Yifang, 46 years old, lived in Bo'ai County, Henan Province. She had many illnesses before she practiced Falun Gong, but after she began the practice, she recovered. In 2001 the local police illegally arrested her. She was detained for 15 days. The police extorted money from her. Ms. Zhang was tortured both physically and mentally. Her family also faced constant harassment. Due to the stress she was under, Ms. Zhang developed rectal cancer and passed away in January 2002.

Sixty-six-year-old Mr. Liu Jiyu lived in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. He began practicing Falun Gong in February 1996. Many of his illnesses were cured through practicing Falun Gong. Mr. Liu continued to practice after the persecution started on July 20, 1999. As a result, Liu Jiyu was subjected to the pressure of the evil party's persecution, and he received many harassing calls from the police. This psychological torture affected him deeply. In November 2004, the symptoms of illness returned to his body, and Mr. Liu passed away on November 4, 2005.

Ms. Hua Yuping was a 69-year-old resident of Honggang District, Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. She suffered from an assortment of illnesses before she took up Falun Gong, all of which disappeared after she began to practice. After July 20, 1999, Ms. Hua was no longer able to practice normally because of constant harassment and persecution from the police. The enormous psychological weight she was forced to carry caused a relapse of her old illnesses, and she passed away in September 2005.

Seventy-one-year-old Mr. Zhang Jincai suffered from many diseases, including hypertension and enteritis. He started practicing Falun Gong in May 1996 and the symptoms of his illnesses vanished. Mr. Zhang's wife, also a practitioner, was subjected to persecution for more than two years. In October 2000 the persecution escalated. The family was also victimized, being constantly harassed and threatened with the confiscation of their home. Due to the long-term anxiety this caused, Mr. Zhang's illnesses returned, and he was no longer able to take care of himself. Mr. Zhang passed away on November 10, 2005.

Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Meng Guiqiu has been on a Hunger Strike for More Than 200 days. Authorities at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp Forbid Family Visits.

Ms. Meng Guiqiu, 51, has been persecuted for a long time for her belief. In April 2004, the local police sent Meng Guiqiu to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for three years of detention. She was subjected to brainwashing, verbal abuse and torture. Two of her teeth were knocked out during force-feeding. On April 28, 2005, Meng Guiqiu's family went to visit her but the labor camp authorities didn't let her family meet with her. They only told her family that she was on a hunger strike. She had been on a hunger strike for over 200 days and her family is very concerned about her.

The deputy head of Changling County Politics and Law Committee in Jilin Province persecutes Falun Gong practitioners to get promoted. On November 23, 2005, the Changling County Court held an illegal trial of Falun Gong practitioners Zhang Shuhua and Liu Yanli from Gongzhuling City. Their families hired lawyers, but the government does not allow the lawyers to defend the practitioners in court. The judge did not allow the practitioners to defend themselves. The deputy head said, "I want to get promoted! I don't care whether or not you are innocent! I'll sentence you to prison if you practice Falun Gong."

Practitioner Mr. Liu Jinsheng is in his 50s. He lives in the Donggangzi Division, Machang Village, Chaluhe Town, Yongji County, Jilin Province. He had been detained many times and had money extorted from him over the past few years because he persisted in practicing Falun Gong. In November 2005, the police arrested Liu Jinsheng and have so far detained him at the Yongji County Custody Center.

On September 1, 2005, during a routine inspection at the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison, guard Zhou Xiaoli took Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Yanfang's underwear. Zhang Yanfang wrote a letter to Liu, head of the prison, in which she appealed against the theft. The next day guards Zhou Xiaoli and Huang Jing retaliated against her. They led a few inmates and dragged her along the floor by the collar of her clothing. Zhang Jinfang began a hunger strike that is still ongoing.

In mid August 2005, Falun Gong practitioner(s) illegally detained at Division 7 were hung by their handcuffs inside the washing room.
