This year, the fourth wave of brainwashing activities in Hubei Province was conducted by the "Hubei Provincial Legal Education Center." The officials and staff there resorted to all sorts of cruel and brutal methods to mentally torture the Falun Gong practitioners, in an attempt to force them to give up their belief in Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. The practitioners were illegally arrested in various regions. This brainwashing session started on September 5, 2005 and ended in October, lasting 38 days. The persecutors included Secretary Jiang, Section Leader Gong, Director Liu and collaborators Yang Huizhen and Gao Yan.

What the staff of the brainwashing center feared most, including Communist Party members and the so-called "experts and professors," were the phone calls made by overseas Falun Gong practitioners. What they were most concerned with was whether or not they were listed as persecutors on the Clearwisdom website or similar lists. Usually, such phone calls made their heart jump with fear. This shows the importance of practitioners from around the globe working together.

The officials divided the brainwashing into two sections. The "intensive assault" period and the "consolidating" period.

During the intensive assault period, collaborators or so-called "teaching assistants" conducted all the brainwashing attempts. Several people took turns brainwashing individual practitioners, as well as reducing their sleep time to fatigue them. Practitioners were also individually locked in rooms and were not allowed to leave the rooms. These assistants threatened the practitioners, deceived them with fake articles, and talked nonsense, saying they were "using the (fake) Falun Gong teachings to defeat the (real) Falun Gong teachings." These guards also verbally abused the practitioners, forcing them to sit in very specific postures. When the practitioners were extremely tired, the persecutors grabbed the practitioners' hands, and forced them to sign a repentance statement or forced their fingerprints onto ready-made statements. The guards also beat the practitioners.

Every practitioner was forced to pay 3,000 yuan in "tuition" upon arriving at the center. The money was paid by the practitioners' workplace. If the practitioner had no workplace, then the practitioner's local county or township government would have to pay. There were two "assistants" in each room, and the practitioner had to sleep between them. On the headboard of the practitioners' beds was the national flag. Each "first teaching assistant" was from either the workplace, local police station, neighborhood committee or the village committee of the practitioner he or she was guarding. Every morning at 9:00 a.m., there was a meeting with all the first teaching assistants. At the meetings, the first teaching assistant would report on the practitioner's words, actions, appetite, health, mental status, whether he or she was practicing the exercises or not, and if the practitioner was going on a hunger strike to protest their illegal detention. Each assistant would then be instructed with specific propaganda, creating an atmosphere of hostility toward Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners.

During the day, the first teaching assistants forced each practitioner to wear a "student name card," and prevented them from stepping outside to practice the exercises. The first teaching assistants were on duty until 1:30 a.m. There is an inspection at midnight. Ironically, the first teaching assistants were also often unable to leave the brainwashing center. Their freedom was closely linked with the degree of "transformation" of the practitioners. Therefore, they were very hostile toward the practitioners.

The practitioners who refused to compromise their beliefs had to eat in an area on the second floor. The first teaching assistants were responsible for giving out meals there. However, everyone else would have their meals on the first floor, so practitioners suspected that the meals provided on the second floor were mixed with psychotropic drugs.

The "second teaching assistants" were less directly involved. They mainly came from the Shayang Forced Labor Camp and the Denglin Forced Labor Camp in Xiangfan City. Their main task was to keep an eye on the practitioners and the first teaching assistants. Their on-duty time was from 1:30 a.m. to dawn. Usually, no one would perform inspections at night, therefore the second teaching assistant were able to sleep soundly. However, inside the brainwashing center, there probably were surveillance cameras and listening devices.

The collaborators were mainly comprised of former practitioners who had been detained at the Shayang Forced Labor Camp. These people had practiced Falun Gong in the past and were forced by the Chinese Communist Party to renounce their practice. While they were persecuted, their human nature and consciences were distorted. Therefore, they became the worst people in the brainwashing center. They had been brainwashed and had walked an evil, deviated path for a long time during their detention at the Shayang Forced Labor Camp. They always expended a lot of effort talking about how diligent they were and how much they had done to win over the trust and respect of other Falun Gong practitioners. This was to pave the way for instilling practitioners with anti-Falun Gong propaganda.

The typical brainwashing campaign can be divided into two categories: One is to promote the collaborators own "enlightenment" (brainwashing), while distorting the teachings of Falun Gong. They did this while practitioners had no access to Falun Gong books. This was what the collaborators described as "using (fake) Falun Gong Teachings to defeat the (real) Falun Gong Teachings." The second category is to fabricate and shout lies to confuse right and wrong, taking advantage of practitioners who were not familiar with scientific theory or other factors.

The collaborators greatly feared those practitioners who did not give in or did not argue with them. The collaborators purposely urged the practitioners to argue with them. To prepare further brainwashing attempts, the collaborators also watched the practitioners, trying to find their attachments, which they might have disclosed quite unconsciously.

If a practitioner started to believe the brainwashing propaganda, the collaborator would ask the practitioners to write a repentance statement. If a practitioner did not compromise, the collaborator would force him or her to copy a co-called "steadfast statement," which contained phrases that could be used against the writer. Once the practitioner was deceived into copying the statement, it became evidence for sentencing the practitioner to forced labor, even though the collaborators and guards could not obtain any real evidence.

If a practitioner wrote a repentance statement, the collaborators, the "transformed" practitioner and the staff of the brainwashing center would all go to the practitioner's room to sing songs that had warped lyrics. The practitioner would then enter what they called the "consolidation period."

During the "consolidation period," the practitioners were ordered out of the bed at 6:00 a.m. and were forced to "take a walk" with the collaborators in a small courtyard. During the walk, the collaborators forced more propaganda onto the practitioners. At 8:00 a.m., the collaborators gathered together to discuss brainwashing methods and how to prevent the practitioners who were already being "transformed" from becoming sober-minded again.

At 9:00 a.m., those practitioners who had been deceived and "transformed" were forced to go to a "classroom" on the third floor for further brainwashing. At 9:30, the first teaching assistants went to a meeting to report on the conditions of the practitioners and to receive further instructions. At the same time, practitioners were forced to watch videos that slandered Falun Gong's Teacher and Falun Gong. The video programs were mostly episodes from CCTV's current affairs program, "Talks On Focus Points," which were full of fabrications.

The practitioners were also forced to watch a four-episode series called "Four Long Lives," created by Cai Chaodong. The content of the first three episodes was hypocritical. The last episode severely slandered Falun Gong. In those video programs, paid literary and qigong slanderers, including Wang Yusheng, Si Manan and Feng Jinyuan, willfully slandered Teacher and Falun Gong.

At noon, lunch was served. The practitioners had to have their meals with the collaborators, who would continue instilling them with their propaganda. From 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., practitioners again had to attend brainwashing sessions in the classroom on the third floor. After dinner, practitioners were forced to take another walk in the courtyard with the collaborators. At 7:00 p.m., the practitioners were ordered to watch the "Evening News" and then were forced to do "homework." On the blackboard, there were one to three topics, and the practitioners had to write a one-page answer for each topic. The answers had to contain denouncements of Teacher, Falun Gong and Minghui (the Chinese Clearwisdom website). Otherwise, they would be considered as not having a profound "understanding" or as failing to have been thoroughly "transformed," and would have to go through the process all over again.

During the next stage, the staff would talk about legal matters and health, during which they fabricated more lies. When a practitioner became muddled-headed, the collaborator forced the practitioner to write articles that betrayed the practitioner's conscience and soul. The practitioner was also forced to disclose things that the practitioner or other people had done, especially regarding who was producing and distributing truth-clarification materials.

The whole process was full of intimidation and deception. Collaborators operated under the policy of "offering leniency to those who confess their crimes and severity to those who refuse." The collaborators convinced some practitioners that exposing others was beneficial not only for themselves, but also for those whom they exposed. Lying, they told practitioners that the police had already learned everything about them, but if they confessed, they would not have any trouble. Some practitioners suffered a mental collapse and even exposed three or four truth-clarification materials production sites. In the previous brainwashing sessions, one practitioner confessed that he had handed out 20,000 copies of truth-clarification materials. As a result, the practitioner was immediately sentenced to three years of forced labor.

The "expert and professor lectures" were lead by two male professors from the Huazhong Science and Technology University. They were permanent accomplices. One man named Liu was a typical charlatan, and another one named Liang always used vulgar words. It was said that these two people charged 200 yuan per half hour. Usually, they talked for about two and a half to three hours.

Finally, before they could be released, a "transformed" person had to write an experience paper. The required length was at least 3,000 words. In the papers, the practitioners were required to answer many detailed questions.

One of the collaborators was named Yang Huizhen. She was nearly 40 years old, and her hair was dyed yellow.

The brainwashing session was held in a small courtyard inside the Wuhan Police Academy, located in Jiangxia District of Wuhan City.

It was said that the fifth brainwashing session for 2005 in Hubei Province would begin on October 19, 2005.

During Hu Jintao's September 2005 visit to North America:

1. On the Eve of Hu Jintao's Visit:

It was learned that more than 500 police officers and even soldiers from the Anti-chemical and Biochemical weapon Troops were dispatched to Guangzhou City to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Luo Gan personally ordered the dispatch.

Soon after, mass arrests took place in Guangdong Province.

On September 7, Falun Gong practitioners Liu Xuefei and Chen Aiyang from Shenzhen City were illegally arrested by police officers from the Futian District, Shenzhen City, and practitioners Luo Yaohui and Hu were arrested and held at Dongguan City. Practitioner Su Jin was arrested and held at Buji and was interrogated about the source of truth clarification VCDs, which involves many practitioners. Practitioners Zeng Shihai and Feng Jiandong were arrested by officers from the Nanyuan Police Department in Huaqiangbei and several Falun Gong materials production sites were destroyed. On the morning of September 6, 2005, practitioner Wu Biyun from Guangzhou City was arrested outside of her apartment building at the Nanmilanyuan Community on Guangzhou Street. Perpetrators were from the Haizhu District 610 Office and from the Longfeng Street Police Station.

At around 8:00 p.m. on September 8, 2005, about 16 officers from the Nanshan Police Department in Shenzhen City broke into the home of practitioner Zhou Fengying, carrying with them various warrants. They took her computer, printer and pocket hard drive, among others things, and took Zhou Fengying to the Taoyuan Police Station at around midnight.

On the morning of September 8, persecutors from the Shantou City 610 Office and the Chaoyang City 610 Office, as well as local government officials arrived in three police cars. They savagely beat practitioners Guo Songkui and his daughter Guo Kaiyun. They put the two practitioners in a police car and sent them to the Shantou Brainwashing Class.

On September 9, practitioner Liu Bitao was arrested at home in Buji, Shenzhen City.

2. After Hu Jintao Arrived in North America, Abductions and Persecution Continued to Escalate

On September 12, practitioner Fan Haiqin from Guangzhou City was again arrested at her shop. Her father Fan Yongde and brother Fan Wei in the Haizhu District, Guangzhou City were also arrested.

On September 12, persecutors from the National Security Bureau and the 610 Office arrested practitioner Li Fengdi, from Maoming City in Guandong Province. Her home was ransacked.

On September 15, practitioner Wang Zhongcheng and his wife from Guangzhou City were "illegally sentenced" to eight years and seven years in prison, respectively.

Practitioner Liang Zihui was sentenced to two years in prison.

Guangzhou Police Carry Out Mass Arrests of Practitioners

Persecutors from the Guangzhou City 610 Office and police department took unified action on September 12 and September 13. They broke into many practitioners' homes and arrested the practitioners. It was learned that practitioners Shi Lei, Chen Xianzhang, Fan Haiqin, her brother and father, and practitioner Chen Huiling have been arrested.

At around midnight on September 12, a dozen officers from the Meihua Street Police Station in the Dongshan District, Guangzhou City broke into practitioner Shi Lei's home and took him away, saying they wanted to "summon [Shi Lei] and obtain some information." When Shi Lei's wife asked them to present the arrest warrant, the police only flashed a slip of paper that read, "Using x cult to disrupt implementation of the law." Shi Lei's wife asked the police to leave the paper with her but they refused, fearing that it would be used later as evidence of their crime. When Shi Lei was taken downstairs people heard Shi Lei shouting, "Help! The police are abducting and beating me!" Some neighbors went out to see what was going on. Shi Lei refused to cooperate with the perpetrators at the police department. At noon on September 13, Shi Lei was sent to the Guangzhou City Brainwashing Class in Chatou and was not allowed to meet with his family.

On the evening of September 12, personnel from the Haizhu District 610 Office and from the police department broke into the home of practitioners Chen Huiling, Fan Wei and Chen Xianzhang (in his 70s) and arrested them. The police had been monitoring and following Chen Huiling for a long time prior to abducting her.

At around 3:00 a.m. on September 13, practitioner Fan Haiqin was arrested by about eight police officers in front of the building where she lived. The persecutors proceeded to ransack her home and took a dozen pieces of Falun Gong materials, a set of Falun Gong lectures, VCDs and a printer. Her husband tried for several hours to reason with the police, but his words fell on deaf ears. Fan Haiqin was sent to the No. 5 Tianhe Detention Center in Tianhetangxia, Guangzhou City.

It was learned that practitioners who had been arrested include Shi Lei, Chen Huiling, Song Hongfeng, Fan Haiqin and Fan Wei. The perpetrators who arrested the practitioners include local police officers and also persons of unknown identity. We are not sure whether or not they are part of the 500 police officers who came from out of town.

Police arrested practitioner Wei Yingxin from Guangzhou City at noon on September 12, 2005. At 2:40 p.m. on September 12, the police tried to open the door to Wei Yingxin's home with a key, but the door was also locked from inside. The police demanded that Wei Yingxin's family open the door. His family refused to cooperate with the persecutors. Then the police completely smashed the locks on two stainless steel doors with an iron bar, about four feet long. These two doors have been useless since.

In mid September 2005, heads of the China Mobile Branch Office in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province held a meeting and ordered all employees to copy a guarantee statement promising not to participate in Falun Gong activities and to prevent their family members from practicing Falun Gong. If they did not copy and turn in the guarantee statement, they would receive severe political and financial punishment, including termination of their employment.

Practitioner Lu Haiyun from the Fanyu District, Guangzhou City was arrested around September 10. It was learned that she was sent to Guangdong Legal Education Institute, a brainwashing center in Sanshui. (reference, /emh/articles/2005/9/30/65430.html)

3. The Persecution Did Not End After Hu Jintao Returned to China on September 20

Special agents in Jieyang, Guangdong Province went to other cities to receive training

It was learned that the Jieyang 610 Office in Guangdong Province sent 15 special agents to other cities to receive training. After the agents returned they posed as Falun Gong practitioners and tried to gain trust from local practitioners by pretending to clarify the truth. They tried to obtain information about materials production sites and the source of the truth clarification materials in order to destroy the sites and disrupt Falun Gong practitioners' efforts to save people.

Practitioner Wu Zhiping: My aunt died from persecution. My 70-year-old mother was illegally sentenced to seven years in prison. My wife was illegally sentenced to ten years in prison, and I had to leave town [to avoid persecution].

My aunt Wu Yuyun, my mother's sister, was a retired teacher from the No. 1 Middle School in Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province. She passed away in September 2004 as a result of the persecution. On May 28, 2001 I was illegally sent to the No. 1 Forced Labor Camp in Guangzhou City where I was held for two years. I was released on February 28, 2003. The CCP's persecution of Falun Gong broke up my family.

Police arrested practitioner Feng Yuqiong from Zhaoqing, Guangdong Province on December 16, 2004. The police ransacked her home and took her printer, computer and Falun Gong truth clarification materials. In July 2005, the perpetrators from Zhaoqing sentenced Feng Yuqiong to six years in prison. She is currently being held at the Guangzhou Women's Prison.
Early on the morning of September 30, practitioner Li Shaozhen from Yunfu, Guangdong Province was arrested.

At 1:00 a.m. on September 30, the police broke into Li Shaozhen's home and arrested her. Since July 20, 1999, the police had harassed and arrested Li Shaozhen many times. Her husband Lai Zhenxian, also a Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested in February 2003 and was sent to the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp where he has been held up until now. Li Shaozhen has been supporting her family on her own, including her elderly parents and children. Their life has been very difficult.

On September 29, six practitioners from Yunfu City, Guangdong Province were arrested.
On Thursday September 29, 2005, perpetrators from Yunfu City, Guangdong Province conducted frenzied arrests of Falun Gong practitioners. It is learned that six practitioners have been arrested. They are Yang Hailian, Li Shaozhen, Ruan Guihuan, Ou Zhini, Lai Jiawen and Chen Shuishi.

On September 30, police arrested practitioner Chen Aiyu from Fanyu District, Guangzhou City.

On October 3, Falun Gong practitioner Shi Lei from Guangzhou City was savagely beaten at a brainwashing class.

Personnel from the 610 Office arrested practitioner Shi Lei from Guangzhou City, Guandong Province, late at night on September 12, 2005. On September 13 they sent him to the so-called Legal Education Institute, a brainwashing center in Guangzhou City, Chatou. On September 29, when his mother saw him at the brainwashing center, Shi Lei told her, "They hit me and forbid me to tell my family."

Shi Lei's family saw that he was much thinner after only two weeks in the brainwashing center. The perpetrators only allowed a few minutes for Shi Lei to meet his family, fearing the details of the persecution would get out. The officials at the brainwashing center repeatedly "advised" Shi Lei's family to overlook the "unpleasant disagreements" between Shi Lei and the security personnel. They told the family that the collaborators or security personnel were "a little too harsh" because Shi Lei refused to cooperate during the study sessions.

When Shi Lei's wife saw him, he was sitting on a small stool by himself in an empty room. There was a desk, a barrel and no bed in the room. His wife asked, "He is not allowed to sleep?" The officials who followed his wife inside the room didn't answer. A few minutes later someone said, "Yes, we do let him sleep. We bring in a folding bed at night." Shi Lei asked to be taken to a hospital to have his injuries examined.

It is learned that the perpetrators at the brainwashing center used various insidious methods in their treatment of determined practitioners, including mental abuse, savage beatings, forced standing and squatting, tying up the practitioner's arms and feet while the practitioner is forced to sit with both legs crossed, solitary confinement, fixed shackles, long-term sleep deprivation, force-feeding for practitioners who hold hunger strikes, long-term detention, and adding poisonous drugs to practitioners' food.

October 6 news: Practitioner Mr. Li Shuwei from Gaozhou City, Guangdong Province arrested in Shenzhen City.
Practitioner Mr. Li Shuwei, 36, lived in Poxin Village, Shizilingguan District, Gaozhou City, Guangdong Province and has practiced Falun Gong for a few years.

Li Shuwei was hard working and responsible in his position at New Century Vocational Training School in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. He quit this year and went to work at another school. In September 2005, Lin Xinjia, head of New Century Vocational Training School led a group of police officers who arrested Li Shuwei and ransacked his dorm room.
Li Shuwei is now being held at the Baoan District Detention Center at the Baoan Police Department in Shenzhen City. The cell phone number of the person in charge of his case is 86-13689589100.

October 8 news: Falun Gong practitioner Zhong Jiawen from Guangzhou City was tortured.

Practitioner Zhong Jiawen from Guangzhou City was arrested in June 2005. Perpetrators were from the Huizhou City National Security Bureau in Guangdong Province, where his work unit was located. During an illegal interrogation, Zhong Jiawen refused to cooperate with the interrogators. The police beat and kicked him and deprived him of sleep for four days and four nights. Zhong Jiawen stayed firm and was sentenced to three years of forced labor. A few months after the incident Zhong Jiawen still had severe injuries from the beatings, such as pains in his spleen and dry mouth.

October 12 news: Authorities at Guangzhou Women's Prison deprived Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Feng Yuqiong's family members of their right to visit her.

Practitioner Ms. Feng Yuqiong is about 41 years old. She was a technical backbone at her place of employment, the Duanzhou Glass Factory in Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1999. Ms. Feng went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong after the persecution started and was sent to the city detention center in 1999. She was tortured with a wooden restraining device that weighed about 50 lbs. She was arrested again in 2000 and held at the city detention center for several months, followed by a two-year incarceration at the Sanshui Women's Forced Labor Camp.

On December 16, 2004, local police officers from Duanzhou followed her and arrested her at work. They ransacked her home and took her computer, printer and truth-clarification materials, among other things. The police sent her to a detention center where she held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The police forbid her family to meet with her and did not tell her family about her situation. In June 2005 Feng Yuqiong was skin and bones. She could not talk or walk, and the police let her family meet with her two or three times. In mid July 2005, the police suddenly notified her family that Feng Yuqiong had been sentenced to six years in prison and she was sent to Guangzhou Prison. The authorities told her family, "No visits within the first three months. Wait for our notice after three months."

July 15, 2005: Huang Huahua, Governor of Guangdong Province Went to Shaoguan and the Persecution Escalated
The Shaoguan 610 Office agents in Guangdong Province and their subordinates have escalated their persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Around July 15, governor Huang Huahua went to Shaoguan and said Shaoguan was an important area in persecuting Falun Gong. Right now, Shaoguan police are arbitrarily arresting Falun Gong practitioners.

Guangzhou City 610 Office Continues to Persecute Practitioner Rao Zhuoyuan's Wife Lin Qian and Her Family
On June 21, 2005, the Minghui website reported the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by Wen Chunlan, a perpetrator from the Haizhu District 610 Office in Guangzhou City, and gave Wen Chunlan a solemn warning. However, Wen Chunlan only escalated her persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

Wen Chunlan played ignoble roles in the torture death of practitioner Rao Zhuoyuan. Rao Zhuoyuan died and left behind his wife Lin Qian, his mother in her 70s, who could not take care of herself, and a young daughter. Lin Qian took on the role of the family's caregiver.

Personnel from the 610 Office continued to harass and intimidate the family and they constantly pressured Lin Qian. Since April 2005, Wen Chunlan, Yu Qiang and Guo Guangting and Zhong from Haizhu District Brainwashing Center pressured Lin Qian's employer, Guangdong Province Stomatological Hospital, to persecute Lin Qian. They never stopped harassing Lin Qian, her family and her work unit.

Since 2004, evil Party members from the Qianxi County 610 Office, the county police department and the National Security Bureau have continued to carry out the Party's persecution policy, forcing the residential administration office and the village and township administration offices to conduct surveillance, tap telephones, monitor homes, and play many other dirty tricks to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. There were several incidents when Falun Gong practitioners were illegally arrested and held for two years. They have now committed new crimes against Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners.

1. In July 2004 when Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wei Chunqi from Qianxi was clarifying the facts, he was put in the Hehuakeng Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan by the Qianxi County 610 Office, the county police department and the National Security Bureau. He was illegally sentenced to 18 months in the forced labor camp. His family member had a really hard time without him, developed many illnesses, could hardly take care of him/herself. Under these circumstances, Wei Chunqi's employer agreed to provide assistance for Mr. Wei's release so that he could take care of his family. However, Qianxi County 610 Office head Long Lihua refused to sign the release form, and threatened that if Wei did not "reform," he would not be released even when his sentence in the labor camp was over.

2. In December, 2004, when practitioners Zhang Chunkai, Ma Yinchun, Yang Xiujun, and Ma Guifen from East-Garden Township went to West-Garden Village to visit an old man sick in bed, their visit was reported to the authorities by the West-Garden Village secretary, Tian Wensheng. The four were taken to the Qianxi County Detention Center to be persecuted by the East-Garden police, the Qianxi police and the National Security Bureau. It was said that Ms. Ma Guifen escaped from the detention center, but there's no further information about her current location. The other three practitioners were released after being illegally detained for 15 days. In March 2005 the police arrested Xiluzhuang Village practitioner Mr. Ma Yinchun and took him to the Tangshan Brainwashing Center. At that time, they also drove around and tried to locate and arrest practitioner Mr. Zhang Chunkai of Huangyan Village. They didn't find him until September 2005, when they caught him in his home and sent him to Tangshan Brainwashing Center to be persecuted. Their purpose in arresting these Falun Gong practitioners was to force them to give up the practice amd write something slanderous about Falun Gong and Teacher. After their release, the police continued to go to their residences to harass them.

3. In May 2005, some Party members of the Sahe Township government and Sahe Village, along with the township police, broke into the homes of practitioners Chai Jinyin and Cai Yuxuan, searched their homes illegally, and arrested Mr. and Mrs. Chai Jinyin and Mr. and Mrs. Cai Yuxuan and took them to the Qianxi County Detention Center. Later, Hanerzhuang Township police, along with the county National Security Bureau, broke into practitioner Mr. Guan Zhenzhu's home in Geziyu Village. After searching his home, they put him in the county detention center. These five practitioners were released after being illegally detained for over two weeks. From June to July, the county 610 Office, the county police department, and National Security Bureau arrested Chai Jinyin and Cai Yuxuan and took them to the Tangshan Brainwashing Center to persecute them for more than 20 days. They then put their wives in the brainwashing center for two weeks. In September, the county police and National Security Bureau, together with Hanerzhuang Township police, once again surrounded Mr. Guan Zhenzhu's home, arrested him, and took him to the Qianxi Hotel to persecute him for more than 20 days. They didn't allow him to sleep, didn't allow him to see his family members, and tried to force him to give up his belief.

4. On October 13, 2005, Shangying Township police arrested practitioners Mr. Liu Delai and Mr. Huo Qingsheng. After 2,000 yuan was extorted from Mr. Liu, he was released. Mr. Huo was forced to become homeless after his escape to avoid further persecution.

5. On October 24, 2005, when Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ji Shuying, who was a retired cadre of the Qianxi County Economic Trade Bureau, went to Bai Miaozi Township Fananzhai Village to explain the facts, she was reported to the authorities by Liang Ruiguo, who had been misled by the CCP's slander of Falun Gong. Personnel from the Baimiaozi Police Station and the county police department arrested her. County National Security Bureau police officers Wang Yinguang, Wang Wei and others broke into Ms. Ji's home that afternoon and performed an illegal search. Ms. Ji Shuying is still being detained in the county detention center.

Because of the Party's ongoing, relentless persecution, both Falun Gong practitioners and their family members have undergone great spiritual suffering. Nevertheless, practitioners continue to clarify the truth in spite of the risk of imprisonment just to let people know the true facts of Falun Gong, to extricate people from deceit, and thereby to be saved by Falun Gong.

Falun Gong's advice with the warning is not a joke. We hope that those who have been involved in the persecution will wake up, correct their own wrongdoings, and pursue restitution by doing good deeds.

Ms. Sun Yulan, 68, was from Dashiqiao City, Liaoning Province. Prior to beginning Falun Gong practice in 1997, she suffered from various illnesses. After studying the principle of Falun Gong and practicing the exercises, the illnesses vanished. She was unlawfully detained in 2001 while clarifying the truth. During years of persecution by the CCP, the police frequently came to her home to harass her. This harmed her greatly, both physically and psychologically. She became ill and died on September 22, 2005.

Ms. Shi Yuzhen, 70, was from Zhenzhu Village, Shuangxi Town, Mabian County, Leshan City of Sichuan Province. Prior to practice, she suffered from severe asthma. She started the practice in 1997, and her illness soon disappeared. After July 20, 1999, when the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong, personnel from the local government and officers from the local police station often showed up at her home to harass and persecute her, making her unable to practice. Her illness recurred and she died on December 21, 2004.

Ms. Ren Xiaochou, 65, was a practitioner from Mucun Town, Shenzhou City, Hebei Province. After the persecution started, she was repeatedly threatened, fined, and arrested by personnel from the township government. She was forced to do physical labor at the township government after refusing to pay the extortion money. Later she witnessed an incident at her daughter's home where the police took a family member away. This caused her great mental and physical trauma. On April 2, 2005, she showed symptoms of sickness and died on July 8, 2005 of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Mr. Zhao Guangwang, 70, was from Zhaojia Village, Yougoulou Town, Zhangbei County, Hebei Province. He began his practice in 1998, and his health visibly improved. After the persecution started in 1999, his daughter was repeatedly arrested, illegally detained, and put into a forced labor camp. Carrying out these atrocities were personnel from Anjiabao Town, Wanquan County. The authorities also repeatedly went to Mr. Zhao's home to harass and threaten him. Mr. Zhao Guangwang died in June 2001.

Ms. Wang Yuzhen, 72, came from Wushe, Longyuan Town, Henan Province. Prior to practice, she suffered from high blood pressure, diabetes, and cerebral neurasthenia. It was fortunate that she began the practice in May 1997. After a month of practice, all her previous illnesses vanished. After the persecution started, vicious people repeatedly arrived at her home to harass and threaten her. They also sent people to guard her, not permitting her to freely go outside. Under prolonged harassment and threats, Ms. Wang's high blood pressure returned, and she died on March 5, 2005.

Mr. Huang Qilun was 78 years old. His wife Peng Qijian was 77 years old. Both were from Changsha City, Hunan Province. Mr. Huang Qilun was known as a "medicine pot" at his place of employment, incurring yearly medical costs in the thousands of yuan. In 1995 all three members of this family started practicing in Falun Gong, and Mr. Huang gradually regained his health. His wife Peng Qijian not only gained a healthy body after practice, but she also miraculously gained the ability to read through the book Zhuan Falun and Master's other teachings, even though she could not previously read Chinese characters. After Jiang's group started persecuting Falun Gong, Mr. Huang was under great pressure. The local residential committee officials forced him to write a guarantee statement promising not to practice. Less than two months later he died of sickness. After Mr. Huang died, in 2001, his son Huang Yonghui was illegally sentenced to three years in prison for clarifying the truth. He was incarcerated in Chishan Prison in Wanjiang, Hunan Province. Ms. Peng Qijian's mind was severely affected by this. The older woman became even more distraught, particularly after hearing that her son Huang Yonghui had became disabled from being tortured in prison in 2003. Her son was classified as a third degree disability by the Changsha City Disability Association after his release from prison. She died in April 2004.

Ms. Liu Xiaoyu, 59, came from Zhonggang Town, Jiaohe City, Jilin Province. She previously suffered from many diseases. She began to study the principles of Falun Gong in 1999 and was healed through practicing Falun Gong exercises. After the onset of the persecution on July 20, 1999, her husband was so afraid that he watched her and refused to let her practice the exercises or study the principles of Falun Gong. Ms. Liu then showed symptoms of sickness again. Her husband sent her to a hospital for treatment against her will. She died in September 2005.

1. [Jining City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners, Including Ms. Wang Yunxia, Arrested

Ms. Wang Yunxia, 35, from Jining City, Shandong Province, has been homeless for five years. Around September 7, 2005, she was arrested by the Tai'an police in Tai'an City. Before October 1, she was sent to Jinan Women's Labor Camp and sentenced to one and a half years.

Mr. Xia Binquan, about 27 years old, was arrested on October 10, 2005. The Da Public Security Bureau and Jiaxiang Public Security Bureau police in Jining City arrested him after he was reported. His computer, bankbook, and cash were confiscated. He is currently being held at the Jiaxian Detention Center.

A female practitioner around 50 years old, whose last name is Huang, was reported and arrested on November 9, 2005, by the Dashi Public Security Bureau and Jiaxian Public Security Bureau in Jining City. Her bankbook and cash were confiscated on November 9, and she is currently being held at the Jining Detention Center.

At around 8:00 a.m. on November 11, 2005, more than 20 people from the Guiyang 610 Office, the Zhongdong Office, the Zhongdong Police Substation and the Neighborhood Committee, broke into Ms. Zhu Lanying's home from her neighbors' backyard when she refused to open the door for them. The police grabbed her by the legs and put her in the police vehicle while she was wearing only her underwear.

Ms. Zeng Mingyu from Miyi County, Sichuan Province, was reported when she was clarifying the truth at Hebin Park on November 9, 2005. She is currently being held at the Miyi Detention Center.

Ms. Jia Xuemei, who is over 40 years old, is from Linjiang City. Because personnel from the Linjiang 610 Office brainwashing center frequently went to her home to harass her, she was forced to leave home in May 2005 to avoid further persecution. On the evening of November 12, 2005, the police followed her, and officials from the Linjiang Public Security Bureau arrested her.

On September 11, 2005, the Qingzhou 610 Office arrested Ms. Wang Yufeng from Xiaxinzhuang Village, Zhengmu Town, Qingzhou City. The officers searched her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, boom box, TV, and DVD player.

Mr. Jiang Guangqian was reported and arrested on November 4, 2005, when he distributed truth-clarification materials. He was later sent to the Huangzhong Police Substation and is currently being held at the Chengdu City Detention Center.

Ms. Liang Chunyan from Hujiazhuang Village, Meicun Town, Fangzi District, Weifang City, Shandong Province, was reported and then arrested at noon on November 11, 2005, by four policemen from the Fangzi District.

Ms. Yang Xiuqiong, from the Liyang Factory of Pingba County, Guizhou Province, was reported on November 9, 2005, when she was clarifying the truth to her co-workers. She has since been jailed and her whereabouts are unknown.

Mr. Liu Bogang and Ms. Xiao Yang from Fula'erji were arrested in December 2004. Their family members are not permitted to visit them. They are still being held at the Qiqihar Detention Center.

Mr. Dai Pengfei, 60, and his wife, Mrs. Cao Zejun, 56, were arrested

at their home on November 4, 2005. Chang Yubao, the team leader for the National Security Team of the Zhalaiteqi Public Security Bureau, Xing'anmeng, Inner Mongolia, led the arrest, with the support from the local police substation. Mr. Dai and Mrs. Cao are currently being held at the Zhalaiteqi Detention Center.

When Falun Gong practitioner Mrs. Du Yujie's daughter answered the door at around 6:00 a.m. on November 8, 2005, a group of people rushed into her home. They beat Mrs. Du Yujie, her husband, Mr. Su Wei, and their daughter before they took them to the Public Security Sub-bureau. In the afternoon of the same day, a man who went to Ms. Du's home was also arrested.

Mr. Han Wei, 28, an employee of the Xiangyuan County Agricultural Credit Co-operative, was arrested on October 5, 2005, in Pingshun County, Shanxi Province. A fellow practitioner was also arrested at the same time. They are currently being held at the Lucheng City Detention Center of Shanxi Province.

On around November 15, 2005, the Huaibin County 610 Office of Xinyang City, Henan Province, and the police illegally sentenced nine practitioners from Huaibin County, Xinyang City, Henan Province. Of the six female practitioners, Ms. Li Guilan was sentenced to ten years, Ms. Jian Xiuzhen was sentenced to seven years, and Ms. Xie Xiulian, Ms. Wang Duan, Ms. Ge Qinglian, and Ms. Zhu Xuezhi were each sentenced to two years. Of the three male practitioners, Mr. Zhang Yuanliang and Mr. Ren Yuansheng were sentenced to seven years, and Mr. Liu Xueyou was sentenced to three years.

Two couples were separated in the arrest: Ren Yuansheng and Li Guilan are one couple, and Liu Xueyou and Ge Qinglian are another couple. The female practitioners were sent to the Xinxiang Women's Jail of Henan Province, where they have been tortured. The male practitioners were sent to the Xinmi City Jail of Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, where they are also being tortured.

1. Government Officials Persecute Practitioners in Laoyazhuang Village, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province

In 2000, the police from the Laoyazhuang Police Station arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. HaoYuhua for going to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. She was released after they extorted 3000 yuan from her. In 2001, she was arrested again, this time for distributing truth-clarifying pamphlets. The Laoyazhuang Police Station again extorted 3000 yuan from her and sent her to the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp for eighteen months. At the end of 2003, she was released. The Laoyazhuang Police Station forcibly took Ms. Gu Yulan to the Shisanli Detention Center because she was unwilling to give up Falun Gong practice. She was released seven days later, after her family paid them 700 yuan.

2. An Inside Story from the Jilin Jail, Jilin Province

On October 30, 2005, practitioner Mr. Sun Lilong was severely beaten for doing the sitting meditation on his bed. The beating led to a headache and a pain in his throat when he talked. A labor camp employee spoke out against this injustice. Zhang Jianhua, a disciplinary staff member therefore locked up the labor camp employee in the "strictly managed cell."

Ms. He Lijia has been imprisoned in the Changsha Women's Prison, in Henan Province. She was hung in suspension for such a long time that her hands became too weak for her to lift even a bucket of water. She was forced to work all night and was allowed only one hour of rest at noontime. She lost her intellectual capabilities and became numb to the world. Ms. Yan Hong was persecuted under "strict management" three times. She was forcibly exposed to the scorching sun while being forced to sit on a "one-legged bench." Ms. Chen Chujun was persecuted to the point that she once lost her eyesight, had severe memory loss, and was unable to walk. Prison guards Li Chunhui and Xue Fang used inmates to persecute Falun Gong practitioners, offering them a reduction in their prison terms in exchange for doing so. Ms. Zou Yunxia was persecuted so severely that she remained unconscious for more than six months.
