The Facts of the Persecution of Falun
Gong -- November
18, 2005
Issued by Clearwisdom Net
Last May, Chifeng City police officers from Inner Mongolia illegally arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Qu Xiuqin. Since then she has been imprisoned in the Pingzhuang Detention Center. Qu Xiuqin fell ill recently. The hospital diagnosis revealed uterine cancer, but the detention center officials still refuse to release her. It is said that Qu Xiuqin was healthy before the arrest. The following is her story:
Qu Xiuqin, whose family lived in Jianchangying Township, Yuanbaoshan District, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, started practicing Falun Gong in the spring of 1996. After practicing, many of her chronic illnesses, particularly tracheitis and colitis, all disappeared. However, since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP ) banned Falun Gong in 1999, Qu Xiuqin lost her peaceful life. In the following several years, she suffered repeated persecution from Wang Jianfeng, who was the chief of Jianchangying Township Police Station in the Yuanbaoshan District, in Chifeng City. Her entire family has been devastated by the persecution.
In February 2001, right after the Chinese New Year, police chief Wang Jianfeng led some people and broke into Qu Xiuqin's home. They arrested her and took her to the Pingzhuang Detention Center. In the detention center, Qu Xiuqin and other practitioners imprisoned there suffered from inhuman torture. Police officer Zhang Shukong used all kinds of methods to try to force them to give up their belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." In the chilly winter, they were deprived of food for three to four days. They were not given any blankets and had to sleep on a bare bed board. They were forced to jog barefooted around the walls of the detention center from six o'clock in the morning until seven o'clock in the evening. They were given moldy steamed buns to eat. They were forced to stand on the cold concrete floor with bare feet. The police even incited the criminals to pour cold water on Qu Xiuqin's feet. The water ran over the concrete floor and froze immediately.
After her release from the detention center, Qu Xiuqin was arrested several times more by Wang Jianfeng and taken to the detention center brainwashing class held by the Jianchangying Township government. This was the "legal education base" (brainwashing center) in Chifeng. Qu Xiuqin suffered from all kinds of mental torment and physical torture and had several thousand yuan extorted from her.
On December 9, 2003, Wang Jianfeng and others started to arbitrarily arrest practitioners. They arrested Qu Xiuqin's husband and confiscated a personal computer, a telephone and a camera. In order to capture Qu Xiuqin, Wang Jianfeng sent someone to monitor her around the clock and stay at Qu's home for over two weeks. All of Qu Xiuqin's relatives' home phones were monitored. Qu Xiuqin fled and became destitute and homeless.
Qu Xiuqin's immediate family has four members: her son is 19 years old, and the daughter is only 13 years old. When the police monitored their activities, they didn't even spare the young girl. When she went to school, someone followed her. The teacher was assigned to monitor her when she was at school. Even her phone calls to classmates were monitored. How could a young mind withstand such pressure? She frequently cried while leaning against her older brother. She was unable to eat or fall asleep. Sometimes she was awakened by nightmares. This also affected her studies. The two teenagers and their relatives contacted Wang Jianfeng and asked him to reduce the torture of their loved one. Wang said that 3,000 yuan would release their father. The children were delighted and expected their father to be home for the New Year. However, when the New Year came, he still hadn't returned. Jiang's group and their hatchet men in the CCP separated husband and wife and children, a once happy family.
In today's China, there are countless people like Qu Xiuqin who have been illegally detained and are suffering. This tragedy, however, happened simply because they believe in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." In this long-lasting persecution, the people who suffer are not limited to practitioners and their loved ones, but also those who participate in the persecution. They are the ones who have lost their human nature under the deception and pressure of their superiors in the CCP.
The Yuanbaoshan District Pingzhuang Detention Center is imprisoning other practitioners besides Qu Xiuqin. They are Mr. Xu Qian from the Yuanbaoshan District and Mr. Lu Zhiguo from Fengshuigou Coal Mine. Xu Qian was arrested and taken to this place in July 2005. Lu Zhiguo was arrested on October 13. The officers from the Fengshuigou Police Station confiscated his personal computer and other valuable personal possessions.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jiao Huifang from Weifang, Shandong Province was arrested by Weifang National Security Bureau. The arrest occurred at 8:00 p.m. on September 17, 2005. Currently she is still detained in the Weifang Brainwashing Center. In the past 40 days or so she has been on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. She was handcuffed to a bed while the perpetrators inserted a feeding tube through her nose. Because of the long term barbaric force-feeding, her mouth was cut and bled badly. Her blood pressure went as high as 240, and her condition is serious.
Jiao Huifang has continuously held a hunger strike in the Weifang Brainwashing Center, and her physical condition is deteriorating. On October 14, 2005, Weifang 610 Office personnel took Jiao Huifang to the Weifang Chinese Medicine Hospital for treatment of her high blood pressure.
On October 20, 2005, three females and two males from the Weifang 610 Office took Jiao Huifang once more to the Weifang Chinese Medicine Hospital to have her force-fed. Afterwards they detained Jiao Huifang with the feeding tubes in place in the Weifang City Brainwashing Center. Jiao Huifang's physical condition is even worse than before.

Ms. Chen Tingfen and her family, including her husband, daughters and son, have suffered constant persecution due to their firm belief in Falun Gong. Chen Tingfen's husband Chen Xinshi was persecuted to death. Chen Tingfen has been illegally detained several times previously and on October 25, 2005, she was once again imprisoned and remains incarcerated.
Ms. Chen, 60 years old, held a senior managerial position in the Training Department of the Chongqing Steel Corporation. Her hometown is in Dayanyi Village, Dadukou District, Chongqing City. Ms. Chen she began practicing Falun Gong in 1994. Her husband, Chen Xinshi, was a former engineer at Chongqing Steel and Metal Corporation. They have two daughters and a son. Their son was forced to leave college because of his belief in Falun Gong and is currently without a job. Four of the five members of their family practice Falun Gong and they had a happy and harmonious life. But now the family is broken up, torn apart by the persecution.
Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its large-scale persecution against Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners in July, 1999, Chen Tingfen's family has never enjoyed a peaceful day. Since the persecution started, their home has been broken into countless times, and each of the family has been illegally arrested and imprisoned. The police have harassed and threatened them innumerable times. In October 1999, the entire family went to Beijing to appeal to the government for justice for Falun Gong. In their compassion as Falun Gong practitioners, they tried to bring the truth of Falun Gong to the governmental officials who have been misled by the lies and slander of the CCP. However, what awaited them were shackles and handcuffs. Their elder daughter was illegally sentenced to a year of imprisonment. Because she refused to submit to the persecution and renounce Falun Gong, her term was extended for another year by the labor camp officials.
Chen Tingfen, her husband and her younger daughter were detained at the Dadukou Detention Center. Because the entire firmly believed in Falun Gong and maintained their righteous thoughts, the authorities labeled them as top-priority targets. They were sent to the Zhonggang Brainwashing Center for eight months. Because of constant physical and psychological torture, Chen Xinshi's health deteriorated and he passed away on April 13, 2002.
Chen Tingfen was arrested once again for participating in a Fa conference, and was illegally detained in the Dadukou Detention Center. When she heard about her husband's death, she tried her utmost to contain the pain, and raised strong opposition against the evil authorities who persecuted her husband to death. The authorities agreed to release her so she could see her husband one last time. Seeing her husband's dead body, her sadness was beyond tears. Moreover, the authorities only allowed her 30 minutes with her husband, with three policemen monitoring her. Even then, they did not release her and allow her to go back home to a family of three children without a father, but instead, sentenced her to another two years of imprisonment. Ms. Chen Tingfen was finally released in December 2003, a 60-year-old senior who had suffered so much.
With their mother imprisoned, their father tortured to death, and without any source of income, the only valuable thing at home was a television set worth around 1,000 yuan. In order to survive, the children worked in tough labor jobs anywhere they could find work, while suffering constant harassment from the authorities. On September 24, 2005, the authorities spread a rumor during the Asia-Pacific City Mayors Summit, and used it to launch another round of persecution against all Falun Gong practitioners in the city. Ten officials surrounded Chen Tingfen's home. When she refused to allow them to arrest her, they climbed through the second-floor window of her home and illegally arrested Ms. Chen and one of her daughters. They ransacked the home and confiscated all Falun Gong books and truth-clarification materials. On October 25, 2005, Chen Tingfen's daughter was released on bail while awaiting trial, but Ms. Chen was once again illegally sentenced to two years in prison and is currently imprisoned in the Chongqing Women's Labor Camp.
When my mother was in exile, she again went to Beijing to petition against the suppression of Falun Gong. Once again she was subjected to torture. The police threatened another practitioner, who was from the Xinjiang Autonomous Region and over 50 years old, saying that if she would not reveal her name, they would beat and kick my mom. When the practitioner still didn't give her name, the police began to use coarser methods. They attempted to demoralize my mom by stripping off her clothes in front of the other practitioner. They even threatened to rape her. How contemptible, shameless and corruptible they are! Even now I still can't believe that this kind of thing really happened, and at the hands of the policemen of our modern world. China, with her brilliant 5,000-year history, should be a civilized country. I really feel ashamed for the behavior of those indecent policemen.
Mom and dad divorced when I was only three years old, and she did not marry again. Mom therefore did all she could do to take care of me for the next 15 years.
As far as I can remember, my mom was never healthy. She used to suffer from a lot of diseases, such as tracheitis, heart disease, an inflamed gallbladder, and dizziness. Sometimes she could only stand for five minutes or so. In addition to all sorts of pressures of daily life and mental duress, I can't figure out how she managed to withstand the difficulties that faced her.
Fortunately, in the midst of this critical, hopeless period, she encountered Falun Gong. From then on, Mom diligently studied the Fa and did the exercises. She conducted herself according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. Eventually, she made a miraculous recovery. All her illnesses disappeared, and her mental outlook was getting better and better. The wrinkles on her face gradually faded, and her temperament was much better than before. Mom was refreshed and became a changed person.
Falun Gong helped her pass through the darkness toward the light. I was so glad to see this miracle happen. Even my rhinitis disappeared. This really was a testament to "one person cultivating in Falun Gong benefits the entire family."
In October 1999 Mom went to Beijing for the first time to present a petition to the government. Unexpectedly she was brought to our local liaison office in Beijing. The police took all her Falun Gong books and the 2,000 yuan in her pocket and detained her for 15 days. I was no more than 12 years old that year. When I was informed of my mom's arrest, my brain went numb and I did not know what to do. I felt so helpless! Loneliness and fear overcame me. From then on I usually awakened from a nightmare. But as far as I know, my mother was on the side of truth; what Mom persisted in is not wrong.
In order to persist in her own faith, Mom participated in group practice. She was therefore detained again and forced into brainwashing. Several goons in this class beat Mom mercilessly. Those horrible people bashed and kicked her and even lifted up her clothes to expose her buttocks and back as they beat her violently with a broom. Although her whole back was swollen, they did not stop beating her. They tortured her so severely that they broke four or five brooms into pieces. At last they used a rubber stick to hit her. When she was beaten into unconsciousness, they poured cold water on her to wake her up. There were injuries all over her body. Her back swelled so much that she was unable to use her arms. She was tortured so badly that she was bedridden for several months
When I found out about all these things that happened to my mother I could hardly believe that people could be this evil. I developed insomnia. I cannot remember how many times I cried at night. When I imagined my mom's persecution scene I felt so scared. I was heartbroken. I was afraid that if my mom was not able to hang on, the worst thing would happen.
After 28 days of restless waiting, Mom finally returned home. But my uncle, Mom's older brother who was not a practitioner, was illegally arrested and taken to a local police station before Mom was released. The police told him he would not be released unless he paid 1,000 yuan. Uncle had no alternative but to pay the money.
That autumn Mom went out of town to work. The police unexpectedly arrested her again. The next day they sent her to a police department, where she was again beaten. Because they could not find evidence to detain her, they planted a packet of Falun Gong truth clarification materials in my mom's bag. Because she refused to acknowledge it, the police started to beat her. They even took a shoe out of a drawer to smack her face. Mom's face was soon disfigured. When the local police came to transfer her, they still put the planted material into a document jacket as evidence.
Because of being tortured and protesting the persecution with a hunger strike, Mom was so weak that she was not even able to walk on her own. Since the police at the local train station were afraid to undertake the responsibility for having persecuted my mom, they released her. Looking at her appearance after the torture I was so scared I could not stop crying.
At the end of September 2000, the local train station police officers came to my school to find me. I was still in class, so they then drove to my home. After school I walked home and noticed the police vehicle by the front entrance. I did not think about it too much, but when I opened the door some people stopped me and looked at me in a very strange way. They said, "We are your mother's practice partners. Did she recently get some materials?" I said, "No, I don't know anything." In fact, I knew that they were trying to dupe me. Realizing they could not get anything out of me, they barged into the room, searching it from top to bottom. That scene is forever etched in my brain.
After this, Mom began her life in exile and was seldom home. I had already lost my dad's love, and now I was deprived of my mother's love, too. My heart was broken. Although I have my uncle and his wife taking care of me, I still feel scared and worried about my mom every day. But I understand that practicing Falun Gong is not wrong and that Mom has done nothing wrong.
In 2001 I advanced into junior middle school. I had little opportunity to see Mom during those three years of school life. Others had to attend the parents' meetings. Mom was still working on the task of clarifying the truth. My mother was originally a businesswoman. Because of the crazy persecution she handed over her quite profitable shop to other people. We lost the income, which was no less than 10,000 yuan per month, and lost the only financial support for our family. Who makes all these tragedies happen?
Having experienced these difficult, hard years, I have gradually become mature and am no longer as weak as before. At the same time I have come to clearly realize the true face of Jiang Zemin. He is a real devil who uses people's hard-earned money for his own purposes and recklessly persecutes the Chinese people.

Police illegally arrested Ms. Yin Ling, 34, a Falun Gong practitioner from 597 Farm of Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province on December 28, 2001. Later she was again arrested and taken to the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp. During her period of forced labor she went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution. The lawless personnel from the labor camp, however, did not stop abusing her. On November 13, 2002, when she was in critical condition, her family members were then allowed to take her home. Soon after going home, Yin Ling died on December 11, 2002. Following is her story:
Yin Ling lived at the 597 Farm in Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province. She was a hairdresser. On August 28, 2001, Yin Ling returned home with her 9-year-old son from a vacation. She did not violate any law, but the police, without showing any documents, and while her son was crying bitterly for his mom, arrested her under duress. Her son was shocked and screamed after his mother, "Mom where are you going? I am frightened! I am frightened!"
The mother and son were thus separated. The child was left at home alone with no one to take care of him. Yin Ling was first taken to the 597 Detention Center. The next day, police chief Zhu Shaokun led people to forcibly remove her and take her to the Jiamusi City Forced Labor Camp. The whole process was completely devoid of any legal proceedings. These illegal events were all based on the local farm leaders and on the police making up false evidence, paying bribes, and other such despicable tactics to forcibly and illegally send her to three years of forced labor.
In fact, before Yin Ling went home, the police had already broken into her residence four times by climbing over the walls to ransack her house. They even went to her parent's residence and took both older persons away as hostages. After they captured Yin Ling they did not release her parents.
Yin Ling suffered cruel tortures at Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp. On October 28, 2002, Yin Ling started a hunger strike there to protest the illegal forced labor. During the hunger strike her lower abdomen became severely swollen and she fainted twice, but the guard still handcuffed Yin Ling to the bed during the day and at night.
According to the description of witnesses, Yin Ling went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution but she was further abused and tortured by being force-fed. Some time later her nose, esophagus and stomach could not withstand the piercing of the tubes. The persecutors either handcuffed Yin Ling to the bed or one person would hold her down and pull her hair, pinch her nose, or pinch her cheeks. Then they force-fed her with corn porridge or rice porridge laced with a high concentration of salt. Each time Yin Ling would be tortured over one hour.
After suffering all these tortures and persecution, Yin Ling became extremely weak. She had difficulty urinating and eventually had a catheter inserted. It was not until she was in critical condition that the forced labor camp officials ordered her family on November 13, 2002 to take her home. She passed away on December 11.
When a reporter investigated this in December 2002, a female police officer from the Jiamusi Forced Labor camp did not admit that Yin Ling died, but her replies seemed contradictory and confused. At one moment she said it was because Yin Ling "had no shoes to wear and thus caught a cold and showed symptoms of kidney infection." At another moment she said, "She got healthy after practicing Falun Gong. If she stopped practicing wouldn't she then get ill?" At the next moment she said, "Who said she died? I saw her still practicing Falun Gong." On March 17, 2003 the reporter once again called the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp. This time a male police officer did not deny that Yin Ling had died.

After July 20, 1999, people from Mr. Zhang's work unit frequently harassed him. On March 9, 2001, people from the school abducted Mr. Zhang and sent him to the Tangshan City Brainwashing Center, where he was physically tortured and mentally tormented. He was forced to do slave labor and was released after he fell during work. Coworkers from his work unit constantly monitored him. After his condition improved slightly, they again sent him to the brainwashing center in September 2001.

She held a hunger strike to protest the persecution and was sent to a hospital isolation room, where she was brutally force-fed through a rubber tube for over a month. Her blood pressure shot up to 280, and she was at the brink of death. The authorities at the forced labor camp were afraid of being held responsible and told her husband to take her home. She was released after one year of detention at the forced labor camp. The local 610 Office agents often harassed and threatened her in the middle of the night. Ms. Zhou Xiaoling endured great pressure. She passed away on March 28, 2003.
Ms. Zeng Chunlan was 73 years old and lived in Zhaojia Village, Maquan, Jiangxi Province. Her four children were illegally detained and sentenced to prison for practicing Falun Gong. She was emotionally traumatized and had to endure constant harassment from the police. She passed away in February 2003.
Ms. Xia Zhihong was 44 years old and lived at Group 2, Gongtangxiajia Village, Lantian Division, Pingding Township, Yujiang County, Jiangxi Province. She used to suffer from breast cancer but was completely cured through Falun Gong practice. In 1999 she was illegally sent to a detention center. After her release, the police pressured her whole family to keep her under constant surveillance to prevent her from doing the Falun Gong exercises and studying the Fa. The police confiscated all of her Falun Gong books. Because she could not do the exercises, she had a relapse of her old condition and passed away on March 20, 2001. Soon after her death, her husband was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor for practicing Falun Gong.
Mr. Song Shenglong was 64 years old and worked at the Yujiang County Experimental Rice Farm in Jiangxi Province. He could not study the Fa or do the exercises due to constant harassment from the police. He passed away on December 13, 2003.

in 1997. After July 20, 1999, the local government and the school
officials pressured Ms. Chen and her husband and also forbid her from
practicing Falun Gong. She could not practice the Falun Gong exercises
or study the Fa, and as a result she was hospitalized. Her family
