The Cultivation Path of A New Practitioner: So Many More People Waiting to be Saved

The repression of Falun Gong stirred up my suspicions, so I decided to read Zhuan Falun.
When the movement to persecute Falun Gong began on July, 20, 1999, I was puzzled. The Falun Dafa practitioners I knew were all good people! Why would the TV propaganda say otherwise?
Bewildered, I began reading Zhuan Falun in 2001. When I finished reading the first chapter, it became clear to me that Falun Dafa practitioners were good people who conducted their daily lives according to the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." I felt deep respect for them.
Reading lectures about the Fa and materials about truth-clarification, I began to clarify the facts.
Later, I watched a film which was about the true story of the self-immolation in Tiananmen Square. When I saw how the Falun Dafa practitioners bravely stepped onto Tiananmen Square in order to tell the facts to the world and shouted "Falun Dafa is Good," I was again deeply disturbed.
Afterwards, I read many of Teacher's lectures on the Fa and read Minghui Weekly at various times. Although I didn't become a practitioner, the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" were deeply fixed in my mind. They became the guiding principles of my words and actions. I also began to clarify the facts to acquaintances, friends, former classmates, and relatives.
When my family learned that I was going to practice Falun Dafa, they traveled from our native province to advise me against it. I smiled at them while they tried to change my mind. I said to them: "Do you know what Zhuan Falun is? It is a great book about Universal Law. Do you know what kind of people Falun Dafa practitioners are? They are good people who conduct themselves according to the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.'"
After my friends, former classmates, and acquaintances learned that I was going to practice Falun Dafa, they could not understand it. I told them that I knew the Falun Dafa practitioners the Chinese government was persecuting were very good people in our society, and I could no longer ignore my conscience, and had to speak out loudly for justice.
I began practicing Falun Dafa in March 2003.
After I started practicing Falun Dafa, I began to demand of myself that my words and actions be consistent with "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." People at my workplace noticed these changes in me.
Clarifying the truth so that more people in the world can be saved.
I clarified the facts to acquaintances whenever I had free time. Fortunately, I was also able to frequently clarify the facts in my work environment.
Clarifying the truth is also a cultivation process. I was a quiet, introverted, not sociable person, but after cultivating Falun Dafa, I became a different person. I greeted every acquaintance with a smile, and I tried various means to create opportunities to clarify the facts. I recall that about a month after I started cultivating, I visited a good friend of mine to clarify the facts. She urged me to go home while I was clarifying the facts to her. I was embarrassed but kept smiling. I thought to myself that I'd go back again after I had a deeper understanding of the Fa. The next time when I went to clarify the facts to her, the atmosphere was very harmonious, which helped boost my confidence in the truth-clarification process.
I clarified the facts to people close to me, relatives, former classmates, friends and colleagues, other departments, laborers, foreign laborers, and other divisions. They were all candidates for truth-clarification. Later on, I talked about the facts while riding on the bus when there were many people around. In the beginning, I was timid and reserved, but gradually I became more open and straightforward. Initially, I continued talking without considering how others perceived me. I'd be happy when people agreed with me and frustrated when others could not comprehend, or disagreed. Then I learned through further Fa study where Teacher said:
" Actually, with a lot of things if you calmly and gently talk to people and handle those things rationally, you'll find that your wisdom will flow forth like a spring, and every sentence of yours will get right to the point, and every sentence will speak the truth ." ("Teaching and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference")
From then on, I tried to keep a calm and gentle heart when conveying the facts to people. I truly felt the effect was just like what our Teacher had described, that every sentence was right to the point and more people could comprehend the facts. I revisited the people whom I had met or talked to previously because I wanted to show them the kindness of Falun Dafa practitioners and the beauty of Falun Dafa.
There was an eighty-year old woman who wanted to learn the exercises after listening to the facts. She asked for additional truth-clarifying material for her daughter, and she hoped that her daughter would want to learn the exercises too. Although she couldn't read, she asked me to write Teacher's name on a card so she could always remember it. Her sincerity towards our Teacher really touched my heart, and I realized that there were so many people still waiting to learn the facts, and waiting to be saved.
I have been a practitioner for over one and a half years. With Teacher's kind support and fellow practitioners' assistance, I passed many tribulations one after another, and I become a steadfast practitioner. Tears often fill my eyes when I recite the scripture "True Cultivation." Teacher endured so much for us and the beings of the cosmos, that letting go of my attachments seems such a small thing. Beings who assimilate to "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" are the finest. When I put my heart into Dafa, no matter what I do, whether it's putting a cover over a book, modifying characters, or just listening to the Dafa music "Pu-Du" and "Ji-Shi," happy tears flow onto my face, for I sense how lucky I am to be a Dafa disciple in this great historic moment. When I immerse myself in the Fa while studying the Fa and doing the exercises, I feel so pure and happy that words cannot describe my gratitude towards Master. To show my gratitude I strive to do well the three things that Dafa disciples should do. When I send strong righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil forces that disrupt the Fa, I feel like a dignified divine being helping Master in this Fa-rectification period. When I tell the facts to people with a compassionate, harmonious heart, I am a Dafa particle in the human world. I'd like to remind people to remember that "Falun Dafa is Good." When the truth about Falun Dafa is clear to you, you have found the gateway to happiness.
Only When I Absolutely Have Faith in Teacher and the Fa and Study the Fa Constantly Can I Avoid Taking A Detour in My Cultivation Practice
(Clearwisdom.net) I had the enormous fortune to attend Teacher's Falun Dafa (or Falun Gong) lectures in 1993 and 1994. I can still remember Teacher's countenance and smile when Teacher took a group photo with us!
Before I started my cultivation practice, I suffered from multiple illnesses. I had tried practicing many schools of qigong (a form of traditional Chinese exercise which cultivates qi or "vital energy") with an attempt to restore my health, but no qigong really worked. Shortly after I started my cultivation practice in Falun Gong, all my illnesses completely disappeared without a trace. As a result, I had a very good first impression of Falun Gong. Unfortunately, there were myriads of different phony qigong schools prevalent over China during that period of time where I learned a lot of bad notions. Moreover, I mainly focused on practicing the Falun Gong's exercises, and ignored the importance of cultivating my xinxing (mind nature, moral character.) In fact, I did not have a good understanding of Teacher's Fa or a strong faith in Teacher and the Fa. Due to these reasons, I had regarded it as illness when I experienced severe physical discomfort twice during my first few years of cultivation practice. I took a lot of medication but, as you might have guessed, the medicine did not work. I even lost over 600 yuan while I was picking up my prescription. I had a very poor enlightenment quality at the time, so I simply attributed the incident to my lack of good fortune. Later, fellow practitioners offered me their kind advice. "Isn't it Teacher's hint that it's time for you to eliminate your karma?" Then I suddenly realized the meaning of my physical discomfort and my loss of money. Thus I enhanced my understanding from the Fa on this matter, and started to regard my physical discomfort as a sign that Teacher was eliminating my karma for me. Soon my physical discomfort disappeared.
At the beginning of 2000, I repeatedly suffered from the Chinese government's persecution. Without giving you too many details of the persecution, I can tell you that the Chinese police repeatedly tried to force me to renounce Falun Gong in writing. Back then I had already elevated my faith in Teacher, so I was able to reject the police's demand determinedly each time.
I once went to Beijing at the beginning of November 2000 to appeal for Falun Gong. Prior to my journey, several fellow practitioners in my area talked about going to Beijing with me, but in the end they changed their mind because they thought, "the situation was dangerous." I ended up going to Beijing on my own. I was very determined to appeal for Falun Gong, so I started the journey by myself. The trip went very smoothly. After I arrived in Beijing, I saw that the police were crawling all over the Tiananmen Square. But the police patrol failed to intimidate me. Because of my strong righteous thoughts, I appealed for Falun Gong at the Tiananmen Square and returned home safely.
Jiang Zemin started to openly persecute Falun Gong practitioners on July 20, 1999. I had been helping with creating truth-clarification materials in China up to March 2003. Back then there was a lot of work to be done, but I had a difficult time finding reliable fellow practitioners to help with the work. I had no choice but to print and distribute truth-clarification materials on my own. As a result, I had to contact a lot of fellow practitioners directly. I knew it was very risky for the truth-clarification materials production site and for me as a provider of truth-clarification materials to directly contact so many fellow practitioners, but I had no short-term alternatives while there was a shortage of help. During that period of time, the Chinese police abducted a fellow practitioner while he was distributing truth-clarification materials on the streets. Due to the lack of strong righteous thoughts and his attachment to fear, he succumbed to the police's torture, threats and reward incentives, and told the police about me. As a result, the police abducted me and ransacked my home in March 2003. It was midnight when the police knocked on my door. Although I didn't open the door, they knew I was at home because the light was on. They kept on knocking on the door and shouting out loud. In about an hour, the police pried my steel door open. Then a dozen policemen burst into the room and created a mess and chaos in my home. They left nothing unturned. About two hours later, they had stolen about 15,000 yuan of my personal belongs.
During the interrogation, the police lied by telling me that more than one fellow practitioner had told them about me. They also told me their names. At the time I was overcome with my human thoughts, so I started to resent and hold grudges against those fellow practitioners. During the interrogation, it started to register in my head that the police would most certainly turn me over to the forced labor camp, now that fellow practitioners had told them about my truth-clarification work, even if I refused to acknowledge it. Although I did not do such horrific things as giving the police information about my fellow practitioners or renouncing Falun Gong, I kind of lost hope of freedom and somewhat cooperated with them in some other aspects. As a result, I suffered from the police's persecution that I should not have suffered from. Later I enhanced my understanding of the issue on the Fa and reinforced my righteous thoughts, and truly let go of the thought of life and death. I refused to acknowledge any of arrangements that the old forces had forced upon me. In the end, I was sentenced to one year of forced labor on probation. So I walked out a free man.
After I was released, I carefully contemplated and tried hard to search inward for any possible loophole in my cultivation practice. I gradually came to the following conclusion: I should not blame my abduction on the fellow practitioner that had "sold me out." The root cause had been my own attachments that solicited the evil's exploitation. Although I was incarcerated for more than a month, I developed a better perspective on the nature of evil. I realized that I should not cooperate with the evil in any way in the future. After I enhanced my understanding of the issue on the Fa, I visited the fellow practitioner that had told the police about me. I said to him, "We should both follow Teacher's Fa from now on. Everything Teacher says is Fa, and we should follow everything that Teacher says to avoid making any mistakes. I will no longer hold any grudge for what happened between us." He was very moved by my words, and made a lot of improvement in his subsequent cultivation practice. When the police abducted him for the second time, he behaved very differently. He refused to give the police any information or cooperate with them in any way. He denied the old forces' arrangements with his righteous thoughts and ended up being released under Teacher's protection.
Next, I would like to talk about my health and my understanding of my health based on my humble understanding of the Fa. I am turning 77 years old this year. Since I started my cultivation practice in Falun Gong, all of my illnesses went away. For nearly ten years since 1995, I have not needed to take any medicine or injections.
Before I started to practice Falun Gong, I had hyperopic vision and had to wear glasses to read newspapers. Now I can even read the fine print in newspapers without glasses. This is just the improvement on my vision. My level of strength and stamina seems to have been restored almost to the level when I was young. My wife and I once bought a bag of potatoes that weighed 99 lbs. Because we live on the fifth floor, my wife suggested that I get another bag and divide into it into two loads first. I told her that I would like to try to see if I could carry the entire bag on my own, and I ended up carrying 99 lbs of potatoes all the way to the fifth floor without any break. Nowadays I often I carry 50 to 60 lbs of stuff by myself effortlessly. My wife is very frail, so I'm the one who does most of the house chores. I have never felt tired. I feel full of life and energy.
I now have very good focus, reflex and excellent memory. Each cellular phone number in China has 11 digits, but I can easily remember a cellular phone number. I have been riding a motorbike since the year 2000 because it is several times faster than riding a bicycle, and it increases the efficiency of my work. The flip side is that it is more dangerous for those who have slow reflexes. It is especially dangerous to ride a motorbike in northern China during the winter when the roads are slippery. Some younger people in northern China even avoid riding bicycles during the winter, but I continue to ride a motorbike in the winter. It speaks well for my excellent focus and reflexes.
At the age of 77, I still do not have any wrinkles on my face. Instead, I have a very healthy and rosy complexion. Overall, I have far better health than an average elderly man the same age in terms of vision, strength, memory and reflex. I could not be any healthier. I am not showing off my health; I am trying to present my perfect health as a testimony of the power of Falun Gong. I don't think I "earned" my health by practicing Falun Gong exercises very hard. I believe it is Teacher that has given me good health out of compassion so that I can help clarify the truth about Falun Gong and complete the honorable mission that Falun Dafa has bestowed upon me. Hence, I am immensely thankful to Teacher's compassion. In addition, my transformation of health is an excellent testimony of Falun Gong's body and mind cultivation practice when I go out and promote Falun Gong. When I share with others my experience of restoring my health through practicing Falun Gong, they are often filled with awe and respect for Falun Gong.
I also experienced what Teacher has described in Zhuan Falun.
Teacher said, " human cells will be gradually replaced by the high-energy matter, and aging will slow down. One's body will appear to gradually return to youth and experience gradual transformation until, in the end, it is completely replaced by the high-energy matter. By then, this person's body will have already been converted to a body of another type of matter. That body, as I said earlier, will transcend the Five Elements. Since it is no longer confined to the Five Elements, this person's body will no longer degenerate. "
I can testify with my own health that Teacher's words are absolutely true. This is truly miraculous.
Falun Gong also improved my disposition and temper. There is an ancient Chinese idiom, "Changing one's nature is harder than changing the location of a mountain or the course of a river." It means, "A fox may grow gray, but never good." I used to be an introvert. I was standoffish because I didn't know what to say to other people. A lot of people mistook me as arrogant, so I don't have many friends. It is usually my wife that entertained our guests. Since I started my cultivation practice in Falun Gong, I became a completely different person. I am now able to carry on a conversation with everyone. I can speak from my own experience that Falun Dafa can indeed broaden the wisdom of its cultivators.
Finally, there are a few things I would like to share about further enhancing our xinxing. First, I don't think we can possibly reinforce our faith in Teacher and the Fa on our own; we must guide ourselves with the Fa. Otherwise, we cannot arbitrarily elevate to higher levels of cultivation practice. We all know that we must guide our cultivation practice with the Fa. With that in mind, what can we guide ourselves with if we don't study the Fa well on the regular basis? Therefore, it is imperative that we study the Fa more and study the Fa better. Second, even if we have built a strong foundation of faith in Teacher and the Fa, and even if we have studied a lot of Fa, I don't think we will be able to enhance our cultivation level if we lack good enlightenment quality. It is because of good enlightenment quality that we know how to harmonize a conflict with the Fa and to enhance our cultivation practice during the conflict.
With Righteous Thoughts, Eliminate the Evil Factors

I am so delighted to have this opportunity to talk to Teacher and fellow practitioners. As I write this article, I feel like Teacher is right here with me. The following are my experiences after five years of cultivation.
1. I decided to cultivate
I am 60 years old this year. In March 1999, I started to practice Falun Gong, but in fact I already read Zhuan Falun in 1997. At that time, I felt the book was so good because it answered many questions I had about my life. In addition, whenever I felt physically uncomfortable, reading the book miraculously made me feel well. Therefore, I always carried Zhuan Falun around with me. However, I didn't pay attention to cultivating my heart. It was not until March 1999 that I actually began practicing Falun Dafa.
Before cultivating, I suffered from different kinds of ailments, including atrophic gastritis, a serious intestinal problem, plus heart and liver disease. Even taking a bite of an apple would give me a stomachache. The doctors told me to not even eat bread. All year long I had to take medicine, which made my face look yellow-gray. After practicing Falun Gong, all of my ailments disappeared. As a healthy person, I haven't needed to take a single pill for five years. Thank you Teacher! Teacher has given me a second life.
2. Righteous thoughts come from firm belief in Teacher and Falun Dafa
After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, I faced brainwashing from the propaganda, and one time I even became suspicious of Dafa. Fortunately, with the help of my fellow practitioners, I asked myself, "Who gives you health? Who has taught you be a good person? Who leads you back to your true self and helps you find the true meaning of life?" It is our respectable Teacher. With my belief in Teacher and the universal principles, I overcame the tribulation. In one week, I got rid of the interference from the wrong thoughts and became calm in my heart. Sometimes I became afraid, but once my righteous thoughts came out, I became confident immediately.
Teacher wants us to genuinely step out of ordinariness, to save people and clarify the truth. I had no contact with fellow practitioners at that time. How did I make it? My son went to buy a computer and printer, so we could edit Falun Dafa informational materials ourselves and post them in the street. That was our first step. Later, we printed flyers from Clearwisdom.net and distributed them with fellow practitioners. In this way, a simple material site began in the course of validating the Fa.
In 2001, my son passed out the flyers to everyday people in our neighborhood. With my attachment of fear, I didn't agree with what he was doing. However, I realized my attachment, so I sent forth righteous thoughts to remove my fear.
When someone reported it to the neighborhood committee, the director didn't look for my son, but for me. I assumed what happened was a test for me. Scared of nothing, I clarified the situation to him, and told him he should treat Falun Gong practitioners kindly and protect them even though he might get fired, because he would greatly benefit from it.
"If you are a true practitioner, our Falun will safeguard you. I am rooted in the universe. If anyone can harm you, he or she would be able to harm this universe" (Zhuan Falun). Because of righteous thoughts and Teacher's protection, we passed the test. My experience demonstrates that we should look inward whenever we come across problems.
3. "With no attachment to anything, the road ahead is traversed with ease"
As a Fa-rectification period Falun Dafa practitioner, we need to always keep righteous thoughts so as to avoid losses and be responsible in saving people. As Teachers said in "No Hindrance" of Grand Poem 2,
"The ways for cultivation are different, but all are in Dafa.
With no attachment to anything, the road ahead is traversed with ease."
The following are some of my experiences with making materials. It was my son's job, but I took it over because he was busy. It was supposed to be a piece of cake, but once I tried to do it, all kinds of obstacles came up one after another. At the beginning, the printer didn't work properly if I didn't send forth righteous thoughts. I came to have a better understanding of righteous thoughts after that. The evil factors' interference was so desperate, because they were scared of people learning the truth. Thus, I have also come to understand the importance of the Fa-rectification period Falun Dafa practitioners' responsibilities.
On one occasion I was worried that the printer wouldn't work. As a result, it wasted a lot of paper and had poor printing quality. Then it began to malfunction. I became impatient and got angry at the printer. I forgot I was a practitioner, so I had to stop to think where the problem was. Then I realized it was a problem with my character, because I was lacking righteous thoughts in what I was doing. How could I have a good effect in making materials to save people? Realizing my attachment, with righteous thoughts, I tried to communicate with the printer. I thought that since it also had a life in other dimensions, it should understand when I talked to it, and so I tried to rectify it and harmonize it. I admitted my being mad at it was wrong. Then I let it know that I wanted it to cooperate with me in printing during the crucial Fa--rectification period, and that if it did, it would have a wonderful future since it also saved people. When I finished talking with the printer, I became calm and clear-minded, and suddenly figured out where the problems were and how to fix them. It seemed like a culmination of my several years' experiences with printing. I felt my relationship with the printer was finally so harmonious. I realized Teacher had helped me once again.
To fulfill the vows we made before history, we need to study the Fa well, break through the old force's interference and fulfill our responsibilities, so as to be worthy of the name of Fa-rectification period Dafa disciples, and go back to where we belong .

Facts of the Persecution
Urgent Rescue Needed for Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured in Jilin Prison
(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Yu Qian of Dehui City, in his 30's, was illegally sentenced to a 17-year jail term. A "confession" was coerced from him through brutality and torture at the hands of the police in Jilin Jail. He is being held in Ward 11 of Jilin Prison, with his injuries leaving him unable to care for himself.
In September 2004, Jilin Prison intensified its effort to force the "transformation" (the process of torture and brainwashing leading a practitioner to sign a document guaranteeing that he/she will give up the practice) of Falun Gong practitioners. Yu Qian resisted with a hunger strike. The jail guard applied brutal force-feeding to torture him and prevented his family from seeing him. Recently, Yu Qiang was kept in a tightly monitored solitary cell and faced more severe mistreatment.
Now it has become known that the solitary cell has torture instruments that are used to torment Falun Gong practitioners:
The Sitting Bed
Sitting Bed is a small stool that has sharp-edged metal bars lining the seat. The person has to keep his back and neck straight while sitting on the device. If the person moves a little, the watch person will beat him. There were many instances when steadfast Falun Gong practitioners were forced to sit on the stool until their buttocks were worn out, rotting, with bones exposed.
The Stretching Bed
Stretching Bed is the most brutal torture instrument in Jilin Prison. The jailors tie up four limbs of practitioners who have refused to give up their belief to a special bed. The bed has four rings. They fix a practitioner's hands and feet inside the rings, and put force on the rings. Now the practitioner's body is raised above the bed boards by stretching the four limbs. Additional force is then applied to the rings. The person loses consciousness in a few minutes. After 10 minutes, the joints, muscles, flesh, and skin are all separated.
Practitioner Yu Qian is being held in the tightly monitored solitary cell facing such severe treatment. His life is in danger and we hope fellow practitioners can start an emergency rescue.
Another practitioner, Yang Guang from Changchun, in his 50's, is illegally detained in Ward 11 of Jilin Prison as well. He was sentenced to a 15-year prison term. He now is completely paralyzed due to the persecution and cannot take care of himself, yet he is still kept in the prison.
Circumstances Surrounding the Death of Practitioner Ms. Zuo Shuchun in Baimalong Labor Camp, Hunan Province

The following is an account of the circumstances surrounding practitioner Ms. Zuo Shuchun's death, as I witnessed during my detention in Baimalong Labor Camp, Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province.
At the end of February 2001, all the illegally detained practitioners in the labor camp were divided into three groups. Zuo Shuchun, myself and another fifteen steadfast practitioners were illegally detained in a separate building. In order to prevent us from doing exercises and with an intention to brainwash us, the police transferred people from another labor camp to supervise us, and these people were called the "squeezing control" squad. Every practitioner was partnered with a member of the "squeezing control" squad. From day one, they used different methods to monitor us. The police and the squad would randomly come and stop us from doing our exercises and interrupt our Fa study, so we could not even move our lips.
On the second day, if the practitioners were still persisting in reciting Teacher's teachings, they would handcuff all practitioners in series: one practitioner's one hand would be handcuff to another practitioner's hand and the other hand would be handcuffed to another practitioner's hand such that everyone was handcuffed together, then both the ends were attached to a steel bar high up on our bunk beds. This caused everyone a lot of discomfort. If some shorter people stood on a small stool and the people at the far end pushed the beds a little bit closer, then the physical pain was reduced a little bit. When the police found out what we did they immediately took away the small stools. We were handcuffed all day long until dinnertime, except for a very short lunch break. Sometimes we were handcuffed all night.
These kinds of tortures never ended, and because Zuo Shuchun is not a tall person, she suffered even more. Over time the handcuffs deeply cut into her hands, and later her flesh became rotten and swollen. But she was very brave and did not give in to the police.
Towards the end of February we saw that the police and the "squeezing control" squad were eating a lot of baked bread that was the main food of the detainees. We realized that the second group of practitioners was on hunger strike, so seventeen of us decided to join them.
In the first half of March we started our hunger strike to protest the torture. The police still persisted in handcuffing practitioners that recited the Fa even while they were hunger striking. After being on hunger strike for five to six days, I almost could not sit up. I started to recite Fa and felt more energized. These kinds of experiences are not easily understood by anyone who hasn't experienced them.
On the seventh day of the hunger strike, guards started to force-feed us. Zuo Shuchun was the first person who was called out by the police, but she never came back. We asked the guards about her, but they tried to avoid talking about it and then we knew something bad had happened to her. The next day the guards pretended everything was fine and told us that she was in the hospital and would be back soon. Later we found out that she was tortured to death during the force-feeding.
A Family of Practitioners is Severely Persecuted in Weifang City, One Beaten to Death

In Weifang City, which is notorious all over the world for brutally persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, unlawful officials performed yet another travesty of justice.
On the morning of October 14, 2004, personnel from the Weifang City Police Department and the "610 Office" broke into practitioners Li Hengnan's and Zhang Yufang's house in the Kuiwen District. They abducted the couple and another visiting practitioner, Ms. Zhang Huiping, who is about 40 years old and works at the Weifang City Electric Meter Plant. They ransacked the house. According to witnesses, the three were pushed into a car with their arms twisted behind them, and Li Hengnan's buttons were torn off. Currently they are being detained in the brainwashing class at the Kuiwen District Communist Party School (previously Weifang City Industry School).
Acquaintances of Mr. Li Hengnan and his wife Mrs. Zhang Yufang affirmed that they are upright and eager to help others. Li Hengnan is 61 years old now and retired from the Weifang City Statistics Bureau. He used to suffer from spinal osteoarthritis. A pinched nerve in his left arm caused his arm to go numb for so long that his muscles atrophied. His 56-year-old wife is a retired staff member of the Weifang City Electric Meter Plant. She suffered from a serious case of inflammatory arthritis in her shoulder and could not take care of herself. She also suffered serious nervous headaches and was sometimes in extreme pain. The couple tried all kinds of medical treatments but to no avail. They also tried many kinds of Qigong, but their health problems became more and more serious. Although their financial condition was fairly good, they lived unhappy lives. Their son Li Jiangang had been a menace to society from a very early age. Instead of having a proper job, he engaged in fighting, drinking liquor, and gambling. Li Hengnan often needed to go to the police station to pay a fine and bail out his son. All this caused the couple much anxiety.
After the couple started practicing Falun Gong in 1995, however, everything changed. The stubborn diseases that had tortured them for years disappeared without a trace. Meanwhile, the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" uplifted their sense of morality and helped them become more broadminded. They were especially glad that their son Li Jiangang totally changed after he began to cultivate Falun Gong in January of 1999. He gave up all his bad habits and followed the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" all the time. When others treated him badly, he was tolerant and magnanimous. He changed into a just and sympathetic person, always willing to help. His friends and relatives were all very surprised at his change.
Since the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20, 1999, the whole family has suffered all kinds of persecution because they have persisted in seeking justice for their belief. Li Hengnan and Zhang Yufang went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong several times. As a result, they were detained, fined, and their house was ransacked many times.
At the beginning of January 2000, Li Hengnan was arrested by local police and detained for two days because he practiced the Falun Gong exercises outdoors. His work unit bailed him out. On January 23, his work unit deceived him into attending the so-called "brainwashing." After the brainwashing failed, his work unit, in collusion with the police department, illegally forced him into the Kuiwen District Detention Center for one month. After extorting large sums of money out of his son-in-law, the police released him.
For five years, Li Jiangang suffered brutal persecution since he refused to give up practicing cultivation and appealing on behalf of Falun Gong. During the year following July 20, 1999, the police illegally detained him nearly 10 times and extorted 12,000 yuan from him (500 yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China).
Li Jiangang was to be married in a wedding ceremony on May 4, 2004. He had obtained a marriage certificate and invited friends and relatives. However, just ten days before the wedding, agents from the State Security Bureau arrested Li Jiangang, who was driving down the street the night of April 25, 2004.
At around 1 a.m. on April 26, more than ten agents came to the temporary residence of Li Jiangang's fiancée Kong Qian and her mother Li Xiyun (both of whom also practice Falun Dafa), seeking to arrest the mother and daughter on the pretext of "searching for a thief." Fortunately, the women saw through their scheme and escaped the clutches of the authorities by jumping over a wall. Now they have been forced into homelessness and destitution.
Afterwards, the agents broke into the residence and looted everything, including tens of thousands of yuan, a bank deposit book (since Li Jiangang is still in detention, the exact amount of money involved is not clear), a TV, a DVD player, a car, two motorcycles, a residence booklet, and an ID card.
Li Jiangang was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp since he refused to be "transformed." He is being held in Changle Forced Labor Camp. Nearly six months have passed, but his relatives haven't received any kind of formal or official notice. Until recently, his relatives were not even allowed to visit him regularly. According to people released from this labor camp, Li Jiangang was subjected to torture. The perpetrators shocked him with four electric batons, beat him, and deprived him of sleep in order to "transform" him into renouncing the practice of Falun Gong.
During this barbarous persecution, those persecuted are not limited to just Li Hengnan, Zhang Yufang, and their son and daughter-in-law. Dafa practitioner Chen Zixiu is Zhang Yufang's sister-in-law. Chen Zixiu was beaten to death in the Chengguan Street Office's "private prison" by officers Deng Ping and Liu Guangming. Zhang Xueling, Zhang Yufang's niece and Chen Zixiu's daughter, was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp because she exposed the authorities' persecution of her mother and appealed for redress and justice for her mother.
After Li Jiangang was arrested, his aged grandmother missed him terribly. As a result, her illness was aggravated and she passed away in August 2004.
Li Hengnan and Zhang Yufang had been taking care of two nine-year-old children. One is their niece, and the other is the child of a relative. After the couple was arrested, the two children were left unattended.
Li Hengnan, Zhang Yufang and Zhang Huiping were reportedly detained in separate brainwashing classes. Brainwashing class director and 610 Office official Fu Jinbin monitored them very closely. On October 15, Li Hengnan's daughter went to visit her parents. They detained her illegally under the pretense that she was to be the "chaperone." She was released so that she could find another worker in her company to replace her. Fu Jinbin also demanded 5,000 yuan from her as Zhang Yufang's living fee for one month. She flatly refused to pay it. The perpetrators also declared that the Statistics Bureau would pay Li Hengnan's 5,000-yuan living fee.
More than 30 Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted to death in Weifang City, the most infamous city in China. The perpetrators there have recently arrested, illegally, many practitioners in the Linqu, Qingzhou, Anqiu, Gaomi and Kuiwen areas.

Falun Dafa Practitioner Yue Xia of Weifang City is Imprisoned, Her Son Yue Lei May Have to Drop Out of School Due to Financial Difficulty
(Clearwisdom.net) Yue Lei, the son of Falun Dafa practitioner Yue Xia, born on April 22, 1986, is currently attending school in the 7th High School of Weifang City, Shandong Province.
In school, he is a good student and excels in both conduct and academics. Over the past two years, because his mother and elder brother firmly continue in practicing Falun Gong, he has been exposed to the pain of his family members being taken away.
Yue Lei's mother, practitioner Yue Xia, born on August 10, 1957, worked in Weifang's Second Drug Factory. Because Yue Xia continued to practice Falun Gong, on October 30, 2002, she was seized by the authorities. She was later sentenced to 12 years in prison, and she is now detained in the 4th Brigade of Jinan Prison in Shandong Province.
Yue Lei's father died of illness in 1993.
Yue Lei's older brother, Yue Ping, was born on February 26, 1981. On October 30, 2002, he was taken away by the authorities, together with his mother. He was later illegally sentenced to 3 years in prison, and is now in the 5th Brigade of Weibei Prison in Shandong Province.
Yue Lei is now left with only his great-grandmother, who is over 90 years old. They have almost no money, and rely on small amounts of financial assistance from good friends and relatives. Life is very hard for them. Yue Lei has not only been exposed to the pain of his close family members being taken away, but he is now faced with the possibility of having to quit school because of the tremendous financial difficulty.

(Clearwisdom.net) Daqing City Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Cuiling was tortured on September 15, 2002 in the First Detention Center in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province. She was forced to wear an instrument of torture called "behind the stick." Fetters weighing 19kg (about 42lb) shackled her feet and her hands were cuffed behind her back. Guards chained the handcuffs and fetters together, making her unable to stand, sit, or lie down. Because of hunger striking, guards removed Ms. Wang's handcuffs after 50 hours and released the fetters after 13 days.

Since the persecution began on July 20, 1999, officials in the Fushan Township government have been closely following the Jiang' regime policy of brutally torturing Falun Gong practitioners mentally and physically in various ways. Their crimes include beating practitioners with leather-wrapped batons, electric batons, and whisk brooms,; slapping their faces, kicking, pouring boiling water on them, forcing them to stand on the cold snow-covered ground with bare feet, sending practitioners to forced labor camps, detaining them, financially punishing them with heavy fines ranging from 300 yuan to 13,000 yuan (1), and violently forcing practitioners to write "Guarantee Statements." They have ordered the Secretary of each village to collect 3000 yuan in cash pledges from every Falun Gong practitioner. If practitioners refused to pay the money, they would suffer long-term detention.
Some officials tortured practitioners in a township senior welfare house. Official Xu Wenli and Sun Changxing barbarously beat them with leather-wrapped batons. They drag practitioners into a dark room, and torture them by slapping on the face, scratching their ribs cages, and kicking and beating until bruises cover their entire bodies, and they are left in critical condition. On numerous occasions, Xu Wenli led a group of policemen to practitioners' homes to steal their personal belongings, such as Falun Dafa books and audio equipment. They force practitioners to attend brainwashing sessions and exhaust all of their strength while beating the practitioners. Ji Guanshen, a chef, has been one of these accomplices. He has poured boiling water on practitioners. In 2002, he received karmic retribution and died from a sudden attack of a serious illness. A bag that has been used to hold cement covers the female practitioner's head. She is forced to stretch both hands forward, with her arms supporting a drawer with weights in it. Then a group of thugs brutally beat her head, face and hands with whisk brooms, wooden batons, fly swatters, and magazines.

Many of the Fushan township government officials and staff members have illegally searched practitioner's homes, taken away their personal belongings, and extorted money and property from their families. Among them, Xu Wenli, Sun Changshen and Guan Yongshen have been the most active in committing these crimes.
A few people who have actively joined in the persecution of Falun Gong have suffered karmic retribution. Fu Chunni and Ji Shuyun, former Chief Executives of a hospital, have been dismissed from their jobs for corruption. A policeman called '"Big Li,'" who worked at a local police station, suffered a stroke that left him partially paralyzed.
Fushan Township government officials who have actively participated in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners include:
Kong Xiangshun, former Secretary of the township Communist Party Committee;
Yang Xidong, former Secretary of the township Political and Legal Committee;
Li Yanliang and Du Jianhua, the chief officials of the township government;
Sun Changqing, a 40-year-old male who is an official in charge of a district; he lives in, Xiaerjia Village of Fushan Township;
Wang, vice head of the Fushan Township Agricultural Bureau, about 40 years old;
Other officials include Li Xunjun, Sun Changqing, Xu Wenli, Ji Yongshen, Li Yong, Jiang Yugui, Zhao Hongxin, Wang Xianghua, Wang Chenyi, Wang Meishan, Deng Weishan, Liu Zhenxiu, Yu Haiyan, Yu Zhongtang, and Li Shanliang.
The following is a photo reenactment of the violent forced-feeding in the detention centers of Weifang City, Shandong Province. 2004 French Falun Dafa Experience Sharing Conference Held in Paris (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) On October 31, 2004, the 2004 French Falun Dafa Experience Sharing Conference was held in the Paris Overseas Chinese Culture and Education Center. More than two hundred Falun Dafa practitioners from France, Belgium and the Kingdom of Lesotho took part in the conference. Many new and veteran western practitioners from outside Paris also came to join the conference this year.
Practitioners share their experiences
Practitioners from France and Switzerland, who are currently in New York taking part in large-scale activities to raise awareness of the persecution against Falun Gong, submitted their cultivation experiences from their time spent in Manhattan. They talked about sending righteous thoughts and how they gave up attachments to fame and gain, jealousy and laziness by studying the Fa and sharing with other practitioners. Some practitioners also talked about how they told people the facts about Falun Gong in their daily life and workplace, while others shared their experiences in giving up attachments in the process of working with other practitioners to raise awareness of the persecution.
A group exercise practice was held, along with activities in Chinatown. Practitioners had a frank and deep sharing on the issue of how to cooperate with each other when there are different opinions among the group, particularly during important Dafa projects to expose the persecution, so that more practitioners can be actively involved in the Fa-rectification period.

Pingdong, Taiwan: "This is Astonishing! You Should Have More of Such Anti-Torture Exhibitions" (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) On October 30, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners staged an anti-torture exhibition and photo exhibition in Chongshan Park, Pingdong City. The exhibition exposed the cruel tortures suffered by Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China. The torture reenactments were very realistic and the cruelty of the persecution shocked the audience. Many people had tears in their eyes.

"Is it real? It's so merciless!"
One couple listened attentively to the practitioners' introduction to Falun Gong and the brutal persecution in China. The wife couldn't bear to see the pictures describing the tortures. The most common reactions we heard were, "Is it real? It's so merciless!" "You should promote this exhibition widely and let more people know about this," "Will you continue the anti-torture exhibition tomorrow? I want to bring more people here to see it," and "Such brutality definitely ought to be exposed."
An elementary school student from Taipei who was on vacation in the south, listened carefully to the introduction. Later he asked the practitioner for some printed materials. He said, "I want to bring some to my teachers in Taipei." A boy of about 4 or 5 years old and his granny received a flyer about the anti-torture exhibition when they were walking in the park in the morning. They came to the exhibition in the afternoon. The grandmother was at first worried that the boy might be afraid to see the brutal scenes. But the boy was brave, and said, "I am not scared."
A man from Holland said he was a human rights advocate. He knew that many media outlets are blocked in China and their content filtered. He said, "You are doing the right thing. You should let more people know the truth."
A woman pushing a baby stroller stopped by the exhibition. She watched the torture reenactment but still looked confused. It became apparent that this woman was hearing-challenged. She said she didn't know a lot of Chinese characters so she couldn't fully understand the introductions on the display boards. So a Falun Gong practitioner spoke slowly to her and let her read "lip language." From reading the practitioner's lips, the woman understood the truth. When she heard that the exhibition was only for one day, she said she regretted that she hadn't brought a camera, as her family is in another county. But about one hour later she appeared back at the site with a camera, and stayed until the exhibition ended.
A man with a strong smell of alcohol watched the exhibition silently. A practitioner approached him to clarify the truth to him. His expression gradually changed from being a little drunk to becoming fully aware. In the end he said, "I have been to Fuzhou [the capital city of Fujian Province in China]. I am very clear about the situation you describe. It is true." Then he said, "While watching this anti-torture exhibition, I feel pain in my heart."
News of the Anti-Torture Exhibition Spreads Among the People
During the afternoon, visiting crowds came one after one. Many of them heard the practitioners' truth-clarification and immediately took out their cell phones to call their friends and relatives, urging them to come to the exhibition. One foreign visitor read the display boards in the morning while out doing exercises. He talked to the practitioners and learned the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution. In the afternoon, he came back with two children. He explained the pictures to the children one by one, giving them a solid introduction to human rights education.
The people going to a nearby department store came to the anti-torture exhibition. Throughout the exhibition, the Falun Gong practitioners had no time to rest. They continually clarified the truth to the visitors, because the more people that learn the truth and speak out for justice, the sooner the persecution will be ended.
As evening approached, the event was about to end. When the practitioners cleaned up the site, they only two pieces of truth-clarification materials were found discarded on the ground in the whole park. We feel sure that the people who learned the truth know to treasure it.
Let Us Together Stop the Persecution, With Justice and Conscience
It has been five years since July 20, 1999, when Jiang and his faction started the persecution of Falun Gong and blocked the channels of truth to the people. In the face of the brutal persecution and the information blockade, the Falun Gong practitioners stepped up and clarified the truth to the world. Every practitioner being persecuted is firm evidence of the atrocities taking place in China. When people ask, "What can we do to help you?" the answer is, "Let more people know the truth and together stop the persecution with justice and conscience."

The Testimony of a Practitioner Who Learned Falun Dafa in a Detention Center
(Clearwisdom.net) I learned about Falun Dafa in a detention center at the beginning of 2000. I hesitate to say that I am a practitioner in the Fa-rectification period. I am not sure if I am worthy of the title.
I was a person full of karma. I believe my selfishness and desire for revenge led to my confinement at the detention center. At the detention center I got to know many practitioners. Their compassion, forbearance, and righteousness, their not striking back when beaten and not swearing when sworn at moved my heart. I also learned to tolerate and care about other people. Finally I decided to cultivate Falun Dafa, a chance that comes but once in a millennium. A precious book Zhuan Falun was sent to the detention center, and I read it with great eagerness. After I read just one chapter, I felt a Falun rotating in my abdomen. Afterwards I also obtained Teacher's book HongYin and learned it totally by heart. Thinking back over the ten years before, I realized that all I had cared about was business and all I had thought about was money. Every day I had dealt with others in a calculating manner and had never spent one relaxing day. I had always wanted to acquire things, but instead I had harmed myself and almost broke up with my husband.
There were several other people at the detention center who decided to practice Falun Dafa. Because of the lack of books, each night a fellow practitioner would read one chapter while the new practitioners along with veteran practitioners listened. In the morning we learned HongYin by heart together. One new practitioner from Anhui Province never had any schooling, but she learned HongYin totally by heart and wrote the poems from memory. It is the miracle of Dafa. I also made a copy of Zhuan Falun. Later on the prison police found out about our Fa-study. The police came to question me and an 18-year-old girl. They shouted at the girl. Maybe due to my righteous thoughts, I didn't fear them, and I held my head up and looked right at them. Because I was confident that I was doing the most righteous things, righteousness was reflected in my body language. The policewoman didn't dare to look at me. I looked at her and said, "Policewoman, I want to talk with you." She said, "Talk to you later." She never back came to see me.
When I was indicted, our cell leader looked through the indictment and checked it against the criminal law. He thought that my case was very serious and I might be sentenced to over ten years. At that time my heart was full of anxiety. I was so stressed out that I couldn't eat well. An experienced practitioner said, "When you let go of your human heart, everything can be changed. Everything is illusion. These events will pass away after a few days." At that moment I thought, "I have already obtained Falun Dafa. What's there to be afraid of?" Then I didn't think about my case anymore, and I used all my time to study the Fa. Soon the miracle happened. The verdict in my case was reached and I was "sentenced" to go home. All the people in the cell were shocked and happy for me. Another inmate being judged at the same time was sentenced to imprisonment for life. This was because she slandered practitioners. The police let her read the newspaper slandering Falun Dafa. The practitioners had told her not to read it, that it was not good for her. But she didn't listen to them and still read it. She also tormented practitioners and didn't allow them to talk together. Her misfortunes reflected the battle between righteousness and evil and the manifestation that good is rewarded with good and evil is met with evil.
After I got back home, with the help of Teacher I found fellow practitioners and also participated in a small Fa conference with about 20 people. One practitioner gave me the precious book Zhuan Falun, another gave me the exercise music, and others taught me to do the exercises. In the difficult environment of China, I had everything I needed to cultivate. It was Teacher's arrangement for me. I was so moved that I could say nothing but, "Thank you." Because I obtained Dafa late and didn't go through a personal cultivation, becoming a practitioner in Fa-rectification time, I felt pressed for time. Teacher has been pulling me upwards, and everyday there are things happening to let me improve my xinxing.(heart or mind nature, moral character) Everyday I must study the Fa and do the exercises. If I didn't do the exercise one day, I felt that I had let Teacher down and let myself down.
Many times, however, I didn't pass the xinxing tests very well. When conflicts arose, I always found faults with others.
After failing many of the tests I came to a critical point. I forced myself to calm down and to not think about anything and to put aside my work of running a company. I began to study the Fa at home and even to learn the Fa by heart. In fact I was trying to escape the conflicts. I thought that I was being diligent by studying the Fa, doing the exercises and sending forth righteous thoughts. But I conformed to the old force's arrangements, which left me in a state of personal cultivation.
During this time I felt my health decline a great deal. I usually felt so light that I wanted to run while walking. But now I felt a lack of energy and couldn't eat. I still thought I was eliminating karma, and I didn't recognize the old forces' way of persecution. I just passively endured it. In the beginning, I didn't pay any attention to it, and I always thought, "How could a practitioner have diseases?" I didn't see where I was wrong, and I didn't look inwards since I thought I was correct. Several months passed, until one day I couldn't stand it anymore and my husband sent me to the hospital. After an examination, the doctor said that I was suffering from leukemia. This situation resulted from my not acting according to Teacher's words. Many fellow practitioners came to the hospital to see me and care for me. I finally left the hospital, but my non-practitioner husband and sister were upset at my condition and they wanted me to go back to the hospital for bone marrow replacement therapy. I believed it was not right for me to go to the hospital. I wanted to live a good and proper life. I still had many things to do in my life to save sentient beings.
Fellow practitioners came to my home to help me root out my omissions and attachments. One practitioner said that I didn't properly understand the relationship between personal cultivation and Fa-rectification cultivation. I was still following a personal cultivation path and didn't follow the requirements of the Fa-rectification. Therefore, I was being taken advantage of by the evil forces and didn't meet the standard for practitioners in the Fa-rectification time. I calmed myself and tried not to think about my disease. I read Teacher's Guiding the Voyage and lectures from around the world. I suddenly understood what the old forces are and the great importance of assisting Teacher in Fa-rectification.
This time I really understood the old forces and the arrangements of the old forces. How could I just pass away like this during such a critical period of great Fa-rectification ? I must escape the ties of the old forces and follow Teacher to save more sentient beings. That is the historic mission that Teacher gave me. I am Teacher's disciple and I only follow Teacher's words. I even told other people, "Dafa practitioners have nothing to fear and will not suffer illness." Through this lesson I learned that this was my hidden attachment of showing off and zealotry. Teacher said that everything that happens today in the ordinary society is the result of our thoughts. The dark minions in other dimensions created the tribulations for me according to my own attachments. I furthermore realized the seriousness of Fa-rectification cultivation. Fa-rectification cultivation is not a trifling matter. The path of Fa-rectification is very narrow and doesn't allow for deviation.
Once I let go of my fear and other attachments, the environment changed right away. My health recovered, and the conflicts became fewer. My heart was raised to an incredible realm. I could study the Fa, do the exercises, send forth righteous thoughts and distribute truth-clarifying materials. But I had obstacles clarifying the truth face to face. I always felt hampered by my lack of education, and I couldn't speak well. This is actually due to my old notions and a lack of Fa-study. I knew I could overcome it. I first clarified the truth to my neighbors, friends and relatives. Gradually I became more confident and better at speaking. I deeply felt the urgency of saving sentient beings.
Now in my cultivation I treat all employees with compassion and try to help them in their work and lives. My company's economic performance improves each month. Moreover the personal relationships within my company are harmonious. Although I have no earth-shattering Fa-rectification experiences to share, this is an expression from my heart after raising my xinxing. I must find all my attachments and root them out. I must follow the path of Fa-rectification.
Denying An Illegal Seven-Year Prison Sentence with Righteous Thoughts and Behavior
(Clearwisdom.net) The author of the following article is a practitioner in Anshan City, Liaoning Province, who was illegally sentenced to seven years of imprisonment and detained at the No. 1 Detention Center in Anshan City. She kept on studying the Fa. While cultivating herself, she denied the evil persecution with righteous thoughts and actions. Recently, she was released and has returned home.
In August of 2002, the police followed me and were able to arrest at least ten practitioners. This resulted in the elimination of the local contacts. I felt regret and sorrow for the loss my carelessness had caused the other practitioners. I couldn't eliminate those feelings. Eventually I was arrested on September 30, 2002.
In the detention center, a practitioner said, "If you keep on criticizing yourself like that, the evil in other dimensions will be very happy. Master told us in the lecture at the Lantern Festival that we should not let the evil take advantage of our loopholes. Master wants to save us. We shouldn't give up on ourselves." I was shocked and realized my attachment. "I have to get away from this place." I thought, "I should not stay here." With such righteous thoughts, I received Master's new articles that were surreptitiously delivered by a practitioner.
(1) First I should study the Fa with a calm mind. Before I was detained, I didn't study the Fa much and had few righteous thoughts. I had a strong attachment to fame and interest and vanity, too, when doing Dafa work. I should rectify myself and start all over again, I thought.
With these righteous thoughts and a firm belief in Master and Dafa, I started to realize the importance of saving sentient beings. Thereafter, I sent forth righteous thoughts with other practitioners in the detention center. We also taught the non-practitioner inmates to memorize the poems in Hong Yin, clarified the truth to them, and taught them the Falun Gong exercises. As a result, all of the cells detaining female inmates became Falun Dafa study groups. Everyone was memorizing Hong Yin. At noontime or in the afternoon, the inmates would do the exercises with us when the police were not around. When the police found out what we were doing, they pretended not to notice. Some even said with a smile that the Falun Gong exercise movements looked nice. One day an inmate said, "It's very fortunate for us that we met you here. Otherwise, we wouldn't have had the opportunity to learn Falun Gong." Her words made me think. The environment here was the arrangement of the old forces. I should validate Dafa here. I also thought, had I made more effort to clarify the truth and let people know about the truth, they might not be here in the first place. I made up my mind to leave the detention center.
(2) I am determined to walk the path arranged by Master. I don't want any other arrangements. I constantly study the Fa, memorize the Fa, and strengthen my righteous thoughts. I will validate the Fa and do what Dafa disciples should do, to rectify all that's not righteous, to reveal the evil, to let everyone who can hear me hear the facts about the persecution of Falun Dafa.
"Falun Dafa is wonderful!" When I first spoke out in the cell, I felt a little fear, excitement, uneasiness, an attachment to fighting back, and some unkindness. I kept on purifying myself and shouted louder and louder. My mind became more and more calm.
"Take a look at what they are doing. They detain good people and beat them at will. You law enforcement officers, do you hear me? You are creating karma for yourselves in ignorance. You are helping the evil do bad things and violating the law. You are abusing human rights. Falun Dafa teaches people to be good and will forgive your past wrongdoings. Don't miss this opportunity that only comes once in a thousand lifetimes." The police were frightened. They threatened, cursed, ridiculed, and mocked the inmates, and pressured them to stop me from calling out. They pretended to be good and used all sorts of method to stop me. But I had my principles to follow no matter how hard they tried. Nothing could make me change.
The guards were afraid. They came to me and said, "We are only an institution of detention. It's like a warehouse. We don't have the authority to set you free. Please don't call out any more." I said, "You may not have the right to set me free, but you have the right to not take me in. You can send me back home. Warehouse? If a thief stole something, would you keep it for him without asking where it came from? Then you would be harboring stolen goods. Can you be above the law just because of a few words from Jiang Zemin, treat good people as if they were criminals, turn white into black, and detain the innocent? Whatever is unrighteous shall be rectified. I will rectify it. Falun Dafa is not evil. And I am innocent. If you can do something to set me free, but you haven't done it yet, go quickly and do it. If someone says I should not be let out of here, take me to him and I will talk to him. "
The guards were speechless after that. Every day I called out "Falun Dafa is wonderful." I spoke the truth of Falun Dafa, revealed the evil and recited the Fa, all in a loud voice. The inmates and some good police officers also followed along with me speaking softly. (3) It's far from enough for the inmates in my cell to know the truth. Nor is it enough for me to speak out like that. How could I let more people know the truth about Dafa under these conditions? The inmates circulate messages on slips of paper to their neighbors on the same floor and throughout the building. I also sent out slips of paper with the truth of Dafa. I used different tones and wrote letters to the Political and Legal Committee to appeal for my release and to sue the legal office that had sent me to prison. I used this method to distribute information about the true nature of Falun Dafa. For some reason, I was moved to several different cells during my detention. Using my fingernails and wooden sticks I carved the truth about Falun Dafa and the various ways practitioners were persecuted while in custody centers on the wooden doors. The inmates said, "We all know that Falun Dafa is great. You don't have to carve any more. I said, "No. You will leave in a few months and there will be new people coming. I want them to be able to read about the true nature of Falun Dafa even when there are no Dafa disciples here." When the police learned that, they were angry, but helpless. They only said, "You are very determined."
Later on, I let go of the attachment to being set free. My mind was on saving sentient beings. I kept on cultivating myself according to the requirements of Dafa and doing the "three things" well. Although I wasn't attached to getting out of the detention center, I didn't think I deserved to be tested. I am a Dafa disciple. Prison is not where I should be.
(4) Master Li said, "Cultivation is a solemn thing. I want you to cultivate into gods, and in that process you are able to validate the Fa. That is why I have imparted the Dafa to you, and why I have given you unprecedented, eternal glory. It is not to have you simply become a hero among everyday people in counteracting the persecution. Rather, it is to have you validate the Fa while negating the old forces' arrangements and opposing the persecution, and to, through this, progress towards godhood." I only ate a spoonful of food each day. The guards told me to eat more, otherwise, they would force-feed me. I didn't acknowledge the threat and resisted it with righteous thoughts. After that, it wasn't mentioned again. "A Great Enlightened Being does not fear hardship
Having forged an adamantine will
And with no attachment to living or dying
He walks his path of Fa-rectification openly and nobly"

The evil is nothing in front of Dafa disciples with righteous thoughts and actions. Later the team leader in the detention center secretly talked to his connections and got me released. I felt no joy, no sorrow, just as if nothing had happened. I will keep on doing well what a Dafa disciple should do, as required by Master.

My Predestined Relationship with Columbia University
I graduated from Columbia University several years ago. I always thought that I would never go back to New York except to attend a Falun Dafa conference, not to mention going back to Columbia.
However, I kept missing the people there. When I returned my dorm key, John, a young black fellow who was in charge of the dorm, said, "Thank you for telling me about Falun Dafa." I was dumbstruck at first, but then smiled. Afterwards, I felt my responsibility. At that time, I was very busy with my schoolwork and did not cultivate diligently. So I did not do much to clarify the facts about Falun Dafa. As a result, I have been full of a sense of responsibility for sentient beings there.
Yet, what good fortune the people of New York now have. In the final stage of the Fa-rectification, Falun Dafa practitioners have gathered in Manhattan to clarify the facts about Falun Dafa. I must cherish this valuable chance Teacher has bestowed upon us.
When I arranged my travel to Manhattan in September, I noticed that several months prior I was receiving emails from Columbia University every other week saying that they were holding a grand 250th anniversary celebration. To have New York's people and local organizations take part, Columbia University had been making preparations for some time. I realized this rare occasion was a great opportunity to clarify the facts, as if every email was reminding me.
The sense that this was my mission urged me not to miss this chance. I asked to be approved for unpaid vacation. I tried to change my ticket, but no seats were available. I never thought about how I couldn't leave. I just considered how I could take advantage of this chance to clarify the facts about Falun Dafa wholeheartedly.
Through sharing with practitioners in New York via email, I was provided with good ideas. They applied for a display desk at the university. After learning that nobody had contacted the new president of Columbia University with the facts about Falun Dafa, I mailed a sincere letter to him. Meanwhile, I cooperated with the practitioners involved in working with the media. I inquired about and provided related information, while practitioners in New York contacted the professors who were interested in human rights. The incumbent director of some international organizations based in Manhattan and ex-president of Columbia University was shocked at such injustice after he learned the facts about Falun Dafa. We decided to interview him. Since practitioners in New York were very busy, I assumed responsibility for this work. Since I proceeded without any attachment, although my initial contact with him by email was refused, he accepted our invitation for an interview with pleasure. The interview was scheduled for the same time when I was scheduled to arrive in New York. Since I was not able to do the interview, practitioners in New York took over for me. There was no coordinator required as everyone coordinated themselves. Afterwards, I learned that the interview went very smoothly and turned out to be a successful cooperative effort. Before I left for New York, I was only involved in mailing letters and sending emails. I felt that I had melted into the mighty current of Fa-rectification.
On the anniversary day, it was raining and thundering in the early morning. Practitioners from Japan sent forth righteous thoughts. The rain stopped, but the temperature dropped rapidly. The subway to Columbia University was stopped for some time due to the rain. In Manhattan the interference was very obvious. The evil forces tried desperately to hinder this precious opportunity. I sent forth righteous thoughts all the way. In my heart was only "coming for you."
It was hard to express my mood when I stepped onto the university from which I had parted for several years. I saw that many people came for this event and I felt very happy for them. People with predestined relationships frequently passed our desk. Visiting scholars, who had just come from China, specifically asked for information about Falun Dafa. An America boy could not help but put his palms together when he was exposed to the truth. We kept on answering people's questions. One after another, sentient beings understood the truth of Falun Dafa and left with fine wishes.
Although I just started taking part in the media work and had no previous experience, I saw my shortcomings when compared with practitioners in New York. I let go of my personal attachments and did on-the-spot interviews boldly.
The activity finished very quickly. I cherished my predestined relationship with Columbia University, which made it possible for me to return to the campus from far away to clarify the facts of Falun Dafa.
Saving People with Predestined Relationships in Times Square
Times Square is well known around the world. Visitors come in endless streams from morning until night. From 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., we mainly distributed Falun Dafa materials to people who work there. I kept on saying "good morning" to passersby with compassion even when they did not take the materials, hoping they would not miss this rare chance to choose a good future. I wore yellow clothes with "Falun Dafa is great" in both Chinese and English imprinted on them and my loud speaker played Pudu music . Most passersby's stiff expressions dissolved and said "good morning" with a smile, while many told me that they had gotten the information already. Most Asian people took the literature without hesitation, which was a distinct contrast with the situation several years ago when we distributed materials here.
We practiced the exercises, held torture exhibitions, and distributed materials explaining the truth near Times Square the whole day.
When we were practicing the exercises, a middle aged man who had come to understand the truth several days ago watched with full attention. He told us that he was eager to learn Falun Dafa and asked how to find a practice site.
Another practitioner and I distributed materials at an intersection 30 meters away from the torture exhibition. When people passed from one direction, the green light in another direction let a second batch of pedestrians pass. We were extremely busy. The truth clarification display board was a big help.
People frequently put forward questions; among them the two most common were, "Why did the persecution happen?" and "How can we help?" People's compassion came to the surface and they showed astonishment and indignation at such brutal persecution. Some of them thought that they were just ordinary people and unable to help us. A gentleman spoke with me for 20 minutes, suggesting we seek help from the government and media. I told him that we had have been doing this and that most governments were highly supportive of us. "Then why do you still distribute material on the streets?" he asked. "That is because most people simply do not know about the persecution in China," I responded. "If you are willing to help, please tell whoever you can about the persecution." After hearing this answer, most people said that they understood. They expressed thanks and left happily.
Chinese people passing by frequently needed more explanations before they took the literature. It was the deceptive propaganda of Jiang's regime that created their misgivings and fear. Some people just walked away, but most Chinese were willing to consider this issue and take the material.
A correspondent from the BBC was waiting with a microphone for the light to change. I tried to hand over a booklet. He did not notice what it was and just shook his head at me with a smile. I immediately said, "This issue is very important. I hope you take a look at it." Then he took it. Though the signal would be changing soon he patiently said to me, "You know I am very busy. The United Nations will hold a meeting soon." I told him that this is why I gave it to him. I told him that this issue is important and has to do with the Unites Nations meeting. The signal changed. Raising the booklet, he said loudly that he would read it. After we expressed our mutual thanks, he disappeared into the crowd.
We ran into tourists from Japan frequently. The cautious Japanese do not like to take literature on the streets, especially in unfamiliar counties, so I greeted them in Japanese. They felt much more at ease and willing to accept materials.
In this way, I kept on distributing materials and clarifying facts about Falun Dafa. It was at this time that I realized my two foreign languages are my special instruments for saving sentient beings. My English was especially useful. On the ground of my third hometown, I was undertaking an unshakable mission.
Sending Righteous Thoughts in front of the Chinese Consulate
When I was clarifying the facts about Falun Dafa in Times Square, somebody asked me to go to the Chinese consulate with them to send forth righteous thoughts. At first, I was not willing to leave since I thought my English was good and that I should stay to clarify the facts. But since we paid attention to Fa study every day I was able to look inwards. I immediately realized that I should let go of my sense of self-importance and be cooperative with everyone. Moreover, sending forth righteous thoughts is among the three things Teacher told us to do, and is very important. Upon realizing this I decided to go to the Chinese consulate with two other practitioners from Japan.
On the far west side of 42nd Street, near Hudson River, is the Chinese consulate. In 2001, when we had just begun to send forth righteous thoughts, things were really bad there. Each time we sent forth righteous thoughts, it would rain. This time it was sunny everywhere. We joined practitioners from Taiwan. We practiced one set of exercises, and then sent forth righteous thoughts. The field around us was really righteous and powerful. I stood near the wall of the Chinese consulate to send forth righteous thoughts. There were only a few passersby, so we mainly just sent forth righteous thoughts.
I also went to the gate to distribute our materials. The staff from the consulate evaded me. Most Chinese who had business at the consulate did not dare to accept the material. But people who were waiting for the bus observed our auspicious and harmonious group. When we asked the driver for the consulate, he said he had watched several Falun Dafa videos.
Once, when I had just sat down to send forth righteous thoughts, I heard someone speaking English loudly. A man pulled one of our pamphlets from his pocket. He said somewhat excitedly that he felt at ease with this material close at hand. It turned out that he drove a boat and his work made him nervous. However, when he came to the place where we were sending forth righteous thoughts, he felt relaxed and very comfortable, so he came every day. He said we were a group of kind people and he would like to practice Falun Dafa too. He was very relaxed at that time and returned to work after expressing his thanks.
It seemed that his sensible side had specifically chosen this particular site to express his heartfelt wish. I could sense an earthshaking scene in another world.
Torture Exhibitions and Clarifying the Facts of Falun Dafa at City Hall
Practitioners from Japan and other areas cooperated to hold a live torture exhibition near the city hall. It was close to Chinatown and many people passed by.
The brutal torture aroused people's solicitude, sympathy and sense of justice. Some read the truth clarification board seriously and asked for materials, while others actively signed the petition.
Several dozen practitioners were present. I decided to do things the same way we had on 42nd Street. We set off for a nearby intersection with the signboard telling the truth where we planned to distribute the materials.
After going down two streets, we saw an elderly Chinese gentleman sitting on a bench along the street. I sat beside him and began to chat with him. He was born in Malaysia. He asked many questions and was quite interested. Our talk was just like chatting between friends. He thoroughly knew the truth. He said he had many friends and was willing to give truth clarification materials to them. I was gratified to give him materials in both Chinese and English. I was so absorbed in talking with him that I did not notice someone asking me for material. The gentleman stood up to pass information to that person. I cried when I saw this.
Before leaving, the gentleman told me that I did not need to find another place since many people pass by here. I looked around carefully and found there was a police kiosk just down the street and an international trade building beside me. Indeed, many people passed in and out. People here were moving slower than people on 42nd Street. Most of them were willing to inquire into the truth of Falun Dafa.
A truth clarification banner, the tune of Pudu, and a pure and compassionate heart told the facts about Falun Dafa to every cherished sentient being and transmitted good fortune to every person with a predestined relationship.
There are many stories like this. Every day there are practitioners from every part of the world creating new stories on the streets of Manhattan.
I was reluctant to leave New York. See you next time, New York!
Truth-Clarification Stories from the International Bar Convention in New Zealand

As the International Bar Convention continued in Auckland, New Zealand on October 25, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners in New Zealand conducted anti-torture exhibitions to clarify the truth to people in the city center for several days.
New Zealand girl weeps
Two girls came to look at our display boards about torture methods used against Falun Gong practitioners in China. They were silent when they were reading the board. Then they came to me. One of them wept, "It's truly horrific! How can they be so cruel?" She asked me sincerely what she could do to help us and signed our petition. I told her, "Share the information with your friends. The more people that know the true situation, the earlier we'll be able to bring an end to the persecution." She nodded with tears in her eyes. She didn't want to leave. She looked at the photos of the torture exhibit with tears covering her face.
"Only demons could do such a thing!"
A lady saw our anti-torture exhibit re-enacted by live actors. She immediately put her hands on her head and yelled out, "My God! Only demons could do such a thing! Where is the brotherhood of mankind?" After learning the truth and as she was leaving, she kept saying, "Only demons could do such a thing!"
"Now I understand"
A Chinese girl accepted our handouts. I asked her whether she knew how serious the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China really was. She said she'd heard a little bit, but she didn't know it was so severe. She said these photos didn't look like they were fabricated. She told me, "As a Chinese, I feel ashamed when I see these photos."
I asked her, "Do you think those who initiated the persecution bring shame to our country or do you consider those who stand up to say 'no' to the persecution bring shame to China?" She didn't say a word. I then said, "Do you know, after Hitler died, the German people were very happy because that was the end of a catastrophe." She nodded her head, "Now I understand. Thank you!"
"I was here yesterday"
A young New Zealander came to me in a rush and said, "I was here yesterday. I learned everything." Then he led his friends to look at the display boards and anti-torture exhibit re-enacted by live actors. He acted as a guide, explaining the situation to his friends and they looked through the entire exhibit several times.
Do Not Slow Down in Clarifying the Truth
(Clearwisdom.net) I started practicing Falun Gong in January 1999. Prior to practicing, I encountered some difficulties in my marriage, which caused stress and unhappiness in my life, and later caused physical sicknesses. As a result, I suffered greatly and lost the courage to live. In January 1999, a friend introduced the book Zhuan Falun to me at the critical time. I was deeply moved by the truth unveiled in the book, and began my cultivation.
After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, some fellow practitioners slowed down their cultivation, and I also encountered pressure from various sources. But I did not slow down my cultivation, since I was a late starter and I knew I had to keep on studying the Fa and cultivating diligently in order to catch up with the Fa-rectification process. At the time, I didn't know about sending forth righteous thoughts, but I firmly believed in Dafa, and know that it was Dafa that saved me and offered me a new life.
In order to catch up with the Fa-rectification process and save more sentient beings, I distributed a great number of truth clarification materials. I never stopped going out to distribute Dafa materials no matter if it was windy, raining, or snowing.
On one winter day, I saw a lady crossing the street, not noticing an oncoming taxi. I called to the lady in time. She thanked me after she crossed the street safely, so I took the opportunity to tell her that I was a Dafa practitioner, and I handed her a piece of truth clarification material, telling her to read it carefully. Later, I distributed materials to two other people at the grocery market.
Regardless of the severe environment at that time, I was never afraid when giving strangers truth clarifying materials. I kept reminding myself: I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. I am clarifying the truth and saving people. Everything should be all right as long as I keep my righteous thoughts and righteous deeds. This helped me to not be afraid when distributing Dafa materials.
In order to more effectively clarify the truth, we need to tailor our methods of truth clarification for different audiences. For example, one day I went to a park with a fellow practitioner and met two young men. After greeting them, I found a common topic and then naturally turned the conversation towards discussing Falun Gong. This way it was easier for them to listen to me. That day, a fellow practitioner and I clarified the truth face to face with seven strangers, and I was really happy for it.
Though compared to the thousands and millions of people waiting for us to clarify the truth to them, seven people is really a small number. But if every practitioner could consistently clarify the truth like this, the result would be great.
Recently I clarified the truth to a hair stylist when I went to a beauty salon. At first she did not want to listen, but she eventually listened and believed me. I was very happy that one more person learned the truth.
We should all do well the three things Master told us to do (1), and make more people understand the truth about Dafa. As long as we keep our righteous thoughts, do righteous deeds, and believe in Master and Dafa, no one can interrupt us. Everything is so simple when we let go of our human thinking and attachments. Cultivation depends on our own efforts, while the result is up to Master.

A Young Practitioner in Prison: "Please Tell Everyone to Let Go of Their Human Attachments and Step Forward!"
(Clearwisdom.net) About a month ago a practitioner came to my home with 1,000 yuan (1) in his possession. He told me that the money came from the child of a practitioner, who was still a student and who had been informed on and arrested while distributing truth-clarifying CDs. When his mother went to visit him for the first time after his arrest, he told her that he had 1,000 yuan, and told her where it was located. He told his mom again and again to take the money and give it to those individuals who make the truth-clarifying materials. The young man also said, "Please tell everyone to let go of their human attachments and step forward!"
When I heard this, my eyes stung with unshed tears.
Through studying Master's new article, "My Version of a 'Stick Wake-up'," I have seen many of my shortcomings: when I began helping to rescue fellow practitioners from detention , I could only see it from an ordinary perspective, applying the thinking that this was an issue of humans persecuting other human beings. I only took care of the immediate survival needs of those practitioners' family members who were also practitioners and did not use a cultivators' point of view to help them to stand against the persecution with dignity. Due to the fact that I followed others' opinions too often, some individuals did not report the news of the detention of their family members soon enough. Therefore, there were delays that resulted in preventing more practitioners from participating in rescuing other practitioners. Later on, when I encountered similar problems, I realized that the evil dark minions and rotten demons had tried to take advantage of our non-rightous thoughts to make things become more complicated, and so delay rescue opportunities. The more righteously we all act, the better the effects will be.
Based on my personal understanding, the fact that Teacher asks us to let go of human attachments does not only mean that we step out and clarify the truth. Letting go of human attachments also means we have to treat everything with righteous thoughts at all times, truly step out of the limitations of being human, and treat the Fa (2) as the first priority. A child, who has been loved and coddled by his family, who has never endured any tribulations and is now in prison, is still keeping Master's words in his heart. If we do not do the same, how could we face him in the future?

Deng Shiying Tortured to Death for Revealing the Persecution  |

Ms. Deng Shiying was from the Longtan District of Jilin City in Jilin Province. She suffered from sclerosis of the liver, a slipped disk, a spinal injury, serious heart problems, and an overall feeling of hopelessness regarding her life. In 1996, she began practicing Falun Gong and soon recovered from her many sicknesses. She regained her health and vibrancy. Those who knew her remember her kindness, warmth, and courage.
One day in February 2000, as she was sharing her personal story and appreciation of Falun Gong at a fellow practitioner's home, she was arrested and sent to the Heizuizi Women's Labor Camp for one year of forced labor. At the camp, Ms. Deng was forced to do heavy labor during the daytime, but was not allowed to sleep during the night. The guards repeatedly shocked her with electric batons and tied her four limbs to the four corners of a cold metal bed with her body completely stretched in four directions for varying lengths of time. She could not move, nor could she get up to eat, drink, or go to the bathroom. Throughout this time, she not only firmly continued to practice Falun Gong, but also explained to others the nature of the practice so that they could understand that the persecution was wrong. Her inner strength inspired some of the other inmates at the camp, but also frightened the labor camp authorities who decided to punish her more severely and at the end of her original one year term, they extended her sentence by another nine months and eight days. When Ms. Deng went on a hunger strike to protest her prolonged detention, she was tortured and force-fed to the point that she vomited blood.
After her release, she remained deeply committed to letting her fellow Chinese citizens know about the facts of the persecution of Falun Gong. She was arrested again on September 15, 2002 while she was distributing flyers containing information about the persecution. She was detained at the Yongji County Detention Center. On February 18, 2003, the Intermediate People's Court in Jilin Province sentenced her to seven years in prison. During the trial, Ms. Deng wrote in her statement to the court: "Restore my Teacher's good reputation, immediately announce that I am innocent, and release me at once."
In March 2003, she was sent to the Jilin Province Women's Prison to serve her 7-year term. The prison guards ordered eight inmates to torture her daily until she renounced Falun Gong, but she never did. Because of the torture she became very weak and could hardly eat, yet the guards began force-feeding her and continued to do so until she was unable to eat at all, was almost unconscious, and vomited frequently. Her weight dropped down to 25 or 30 kg.
Her family was generally not allowed to visit her, but on the morning of July 18, 2003 as she lay in a coma close to death, her family was ordered to pick her up at the prison. They immediately took her to a hospital for emergency treatment. The doctor informed them that her vital organs had suffered severe injuries and were not functioning - her gallbladder was destroyed, her cranial nerve had suffered from fibrosis and her cerebellum had withered and calcified.
The hospital could do nothing to save her life. The following day, on the afternoon of July 19, 2003, at the age of 42, Ms. Deng passed away because of the injuries she sustained in prison.
A Pregnant Woman was Tortured to Death  |

Ms. Luo Zhixiang lived and worked in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, after she graduated from university in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. She started to practice Falun Gong in 1996. In her work unit, she was well known for being a kind-hearted person and a hard worker. After former president Jiang Zemin banned practicing Falun Gong, she and her boyfriend, Huang Guohua, went to Beijing to appeal to the government for the right to practice Falun Gong. As a result, they were arrested and detained in Guangzhou City. Then Ms. Luo was dismissed from her job. After their release, they both became homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested at homes. They were married on April 5, 2000.
In October 2000, the couple was arrested because they distributed Falun Gong flyers. She was released since she was pregnant at that time; however, her husband was detained for 135 days in Baiyun District Detention Center.
In May 2001, Ms. Luo gave birth to their daughter. To avoid being illegally arrested and persecuted, she was forced to send her 3-month-old infant to her mother-in-law and become homeless again. To find her, local authorities put her name on the "Wanted List," and posted a 30,000 Yuan (the average monthly wage is 500 Yuan in China) reward.
On November 22, 2001, local police found Ms. Luo and her husband; they sentenced her husband, who is still being detained in the Huadu Detention Center in Guangzhou City. They sent Ms. Luo to the Zhuhai Detention Center, where she went on a hunger strike to protest the detention. After the seventh day of her hunger strike, she was examined and found to be three months pregnant. The local government, therefore, released her to avoid being responsible if she or her unborn child were to die. Then the Tianhe District's "610 Office," and the Nationhood Administration arrested her at her home, and sent her for forced brainwashing, where she again went on a hunger strike. She was then sent to the Tianhe Traditional Medicine Hospital. Under suspicious circumstances, she "fell" from the 3rd floor on November 31st, which caused a fatal head injury. She died December 4, 2001, when she was 3 months pregnant.
On December 5, 2001, upon hearing that Ms. Luo was dying, Mr. Huang's mother arrived in Guangzhou on December 5, 2001, with Ms. Luo's young daughter. Once there, she found that Ms. Luo had died the previous day from the persecution she received. Since her husband is still detained, Ms. Luo's young daughter is currently being cared for by her husband's parents.
A Couple Tortured, Paralyzed and Sentenced to a 10-Year Prison Term
for Distributing Falun Gong Materials
Mr. Song Jianmin, male, resident of Zhengding County, Hebei Province, employee of the Zhengding County government; Mr. Song's wife, Ms. Zheng Lanrui, female, 39, resident of Zhengding County, Hebei Province, a secretary in the office of the Sports Commission of Zhengding County.
In June 2001, the police of Zhengding County arrested Mr. Song and Ms. Zheng because they practiced Falun Gong and distributed information about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The police broke into their homes and confiscated cash and personal property worth more than 30,000 Yuan (the average monthly salary is about 500 Yuan).
During the interrogation, Cai Shengli, the Deputy Chief of Politics and Security Section, handcuffed Mr. Song's hands from behind, forcing the handcuffs to cut into his flesh. As a result, Mr. Song twice lost consciousness from the pain. Cai then kicked Mr. Song's shins with his leather boots and broke his leg. He also ordered a policeman named Zhang Dongpin to beat Mr. Song with a wooden club. Mr. Song's back, legs, and buttocks were bloody, blue and black, and swollen due to the beating. At night, his hands were handcuffed behind his back and tied to a bedpost at a height where he could not stand up or squat. He was forced to stay in this position until 8:00 a.m. the next day. The torture lasted for three days. Later, Mr. Song was sentenced to ten years in prison and sent to Zhengding County Detention Center.
At the same time, the police beat Ms. Zheng to the verge of death and also sent her to Zhengding County Detention Center. At the detention center, the police continued to torture her. After six months of this torture, they sent her to the county hospital for emergency treatment. Ms. Zheng was left paralyzed and unable take care of herself. The couple's employers stopped paying their salaries, leaving them and their children with no source of income to provide for their daily living.
Husband Tortured to Death, Wife Forced to Abort Fetus
During Eighth Month of Pregnancy
Mr. Shen Lizhi and his wife Ms. Luo Fang lived in Leshan City, Sichuan Province.
On February 1, 2002, while this couple was on a bus in Chengdu City, police officers from the Yingmenkou Police Station in Chengdu City arrested them because they carried information that described the persecution of Falun Gong. They were detained in the Chengdu Detention Center, where officer Tian Xinming, and others from the Chengdu City "610 Office" tortured Mr. Shen.
Because Mr. Shen was on the verge of death due to the torture, he was sent to the Qingyang District People's Hospital in Chengdu City for emergency treatment. On March 3, 2002, Mr. Shen died at the age of 33. The authorities blocked the information and did not notify his parents about his death until one year later.
Ms. Luo was eight months pregnant at the time she was detained. Officer Tian Xinming forced her to have an abortion. Ms. Luo was released from the Chengdu Detention Center on May 8, 2002, and immediately started looking for her husband. However, the authorities denied that Mr. Shen was detained and hid all information about his death.
On December 5, 2002, policemen from the Leshan City Police Station arrested Ms. Luo, beat, and tortured her because she refused to give up Falun Gong. In August 2003 she was sentenced to 12 years in prison and sent to the Chuanxi Prison in Sichuan Province, where she is still being detained.
Chen Yinghua Tortured for Distributing Materials,
Force-Fed and Left in Critical Condition
Ms. Chen Yinghua, female, is a resident of Zhejiang Province. On August 8, 2003, the Jiaxing City police arrested her for distributing materials containing information about the persecution. On September 13, 2003, she was taken to a local detention center, where she went on a hunger strike to protest her detention. The guards ordered criminal inmates to hold her down and force-feed her by inserting a tube through her nasal passage and into her stomach. They handcuffed her, shackled her feet, and tied her tightly to a bed. She was not allowed to go to the restroom. After several days of torture, she was unable to walk.
On September 26, 2003, she was sent to the Zhejiang Province Prison Hospital for further force-feeding. She was kept tied to a bed using a special straightjacket and belt, with a tube through her nasal passage and esophagus. If she attempted to pull out the tube, the inmates that were watching her pulled the straightjacket belts tighter. After one force-feeding by an inmate her entire body convulsed with pain and she vomited blood. The authorities ignored this incidence and continued to force-feed her. After she began throwing up dark red blood with a strong odor, the authorities realized that her stomach lining had hemorrhaged because the feeding tube had adhered to her stomach lining. Her blood pressure was extremely low and she was in critical condition. The authorities switched to forcibly injecting her. When she was finally untied from the bed, she was too weak to walk, her face was very pale, and her hands and feet were ice cold. Her arms were swollen and black and blue with bruises. The blood vessels in her legs collapsed, and blood could not circulate properly. They continued to torture her by inserting needles into her bruises.
On October 13, 2003, the authorities permitted Ms. Chen to be bailed out because her brother in Canada exposed her torture to the public. She is awaiting a trial in China.
A Woman Six Months Pregnant Beaten For Practicing Falun Gong  |

I have practiced Falun Gong for four years. I have become very peaceful, and my health has improved since then. After the government started persecuting Falun Gong, I was monitored like many other practitioners. One day when several other practitioners and I were attending a Falun Gong sharing experience conference, we were reported. The police surrounded the meeting place. At that time I was six months pregnant. We were not allowed to use the restroom there. When I requested to use restroom, one policeman beat my abdomen with a wooden rod. Then the police forced us to get in a police vehicle. Because I refused to cooperate with them, they pushed me to the ground, beat my body with a wooden rod, dragged my hair, and punched my face with their fists. My face and mouth were covered with bruises and blood, I had loose teeth, and my clothes were bloodstained.
In the police station, I was forced to stand for a long period of time. Later I was locked in a small cell. Finally, because they were afraid to be held responsible for beating a pregnant woman, they released me after extorting 3000 Yuan (the average monthly income of a Chinese worker is about 500 Yuan) from my husband.
Widespread Sexual Abuse Used to Torture Female Falun Gong Practitioners
at Dalian Labor Camp in Liaoning Province
Dalian Labor Camp is located at 175 Nanlin Street in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. Since the Chinese government began persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999, thousands of male and female Falun Gong practitioners have been detained at this labor camp. The authorities of the labor camp use all means imaginable to torture practitioners and force them to renounce their belief in Falun Gong.
In the Women's Section of the labor camp, sexual abuse is a common form of torture used by guards for this purpose. The guards often strip off practitioners' clothes and use various methods to torture them, including beating them on their breasts, pushing brushes into their vaginas until they bleed, and inserting hot pepper paste and dirty rags into their vaginas. As a result of this torture, many female practitioners are now disabled and have difficulty walking; four female practitioners were recently tortured to death at this labor camp.
The following stories relay the abuse suffered by eleven women from Liaoning province who were all detained at Dalian Labor Camp simply for practicing Falun Gong:
Ms. Jin Guirong, a 58-year old woman from Jinshitan District in Dalian City, has been detained for over a year at Dalian Labor Camp. At the end of December 2002, after being detained at the labor camp for more than 10 days, she was taken to the brainwashing center of the labor camp because she continued to stand by her belief in the practice. There, the guards instigated other inmates to deprive her of sleep, as well as curse at and beat her. When she still would not denounce Falun Gong, they locked her inside a one-meter by one-meter iron cage in which she was unable to stand up or lay down. Even after having been released from the cage, she still has difficulty walking.
Ms. Xu Jinhuan is 54 years old. On one occasion, the guards coerced other inmates to beat her because she sang songs that mentioned Falun Gong. Then, several of the camp guards tied her hands and feet together and hung her up in the air while they beat her inner thighs with wooden boards. These beatings caused her thighs to turn black and blue.
When Ms. Wang Lijun, age 33, refused to renounce Falun Gong, the camp guards locked her inside a one-meter by one-meter iron cage for over a month. During that time, she was unable to either stand up or lay down but was forced to sit or squat. As a result, she had difficulty walking even after being released from the cage. Later, the camp guards rammed brushes used for cleaning shoes into her vagina, which caused vaginal bleeding. They also broke both her legs; today Ms. Wang is disabled because of this torture.
When Ms. Wang Xiumei refused to recite the rules of the labor camp as a way of protesting her unlawful detention, the camp guards forcefully beat her, breaking two of her ribs and knocking out one of her teeth.
Upon Ms. Bi Daihong's arrival at Dalian Labor Camp, several guards beat her from which she sustained injuries such as bruises on her nose and eyes, swollen feet, and black and blue marks on her legs. As a result of this abuse, she now walks with a limp.
Ms. Chang Xuexia, age 34, was locked in an iron cage and beaten by other inmates because she stood by her belief in Falun Gong. At the behest of the camp guards, the inmates stripped her and tortured her by placing a basin of water underneath her and forcing brushes used for cleaning shoes into her vagina. The inmates continued to torture her in this manner until her vagina began to bleed and she lost consciousness because of the extreme pain.
When Ms. Man Chunrong refused to renounce her belief in Falun Gong, guards at the labor camp injected hot pepper paste into her vagina.
Ms. Cheng Hui is a 27 year-old woman from the Jinzhou District of Dalian City. Guards at the labor camp locked her into an iron cage and then hung her from the window bars with her hands handcuffed behind her back and only her toes touching the ground.. The guards also coerced inmates to insert hot pepper paste into her vagina, take it out and put it into her mouth. As a result of the torture she has suffered at the labor camp, Ms. Cheng now has difficulty walking.
Ms. Qu Sumei is from the Shahekou District of Dalian City. Because she refused to renounce her practice of Falun Gong, she was locked in an iron cage. On another occasion, she was hung up with her hands and feet tied together while inmates inserted dirty rags, hot pepper paste, and other items into her vagina. As a result of this torture, she was unable to lie down on a bed for three months.
Ms. Han Shuhua from Dalian City became disabled after both her legs were broken from beatings the camp guards meted out while she was locked in an iron cage.
Because Ms. Sun Yan from Dalian City said "Falun Gong is good", she was locked in an iron cage and tortured for over ten days.. As a result of this torture she is now unable to walk without assistance.
Because of her Belief, Qing Mingzhen Persecuted and Her Family Harassed
Ms. Qing Mingzhen, female, from Chengdu City, Sichuan Province was detained twice by the Xiaotianzhu Police Station. She was sentenced to forced labor for going to Beijing on November 29, 1999 to appeal to the government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. In March 2000, Ms. Qing, along with her nine-year-old daughter, went to Beijing to appeal again. She was detained for over thirty days and also dismissed from her job. In December 2000, Ms. Qing was sentenced to one and a half years in the labor camp because she distributed flyers containing information about the persecution.
Ms. Qing was not released until June 2002. In early July of 2002, Ms. Qing spent a vacation at her relatives' home in Hongyuan City, Sichuan Province. Local government officials constantly telephoned to harass her, and even had people follow and monitor her, causing tremendous stress to her family. This continued until her return to Chengdu. A few days later, when Ms. Qing visited her daughter at her mother-in-law's home, policemen harassed them by telephoning at around 1 o'clock in the morning. Her nearly 70-year-old parents and other family members were scared, and the disturbance caused her father-in-law's high blood pressure to relapse. A few days later, less than ten minutes after Ms. Qing's return home, three policemen went to her home and attempted to abduct her. The next morning, deceived by the police, Ms. Qing's brother sent her to a brainwashing class. A policeman slapped her face forcefully 18 times in front of her family, causing her dizziness and profuse bleeding from her nose. Police then handcuffed her hands behind her back to a tree. Later, Ms. Qing managed to escape but has become destitute and homeless.
Wang Zhiguo, a Handicapped Man,
Shocked by Electric Batons while Sitting in the Water
Mr. Wang Zhiguo, male, handicapped, resident of Jianping County, Liaoning Province. On January 26, 2002, police from the Hebei Police Station in Jianping County arrested Mr. Wang, and detained him at a detention center in Jianping County, because he practiced Falun Gong.
At the detention center, he was deprived of sleep twice for a total of eight days and nights. Since Mr. Wang was not able to stand or walk, police put him on the floor in a puddle of water, and shocked him with several electric batons for six hours. The strong electric current made Mr. Wang twist and spasm, and his whole body was covered with sweat. After the torture, his hands became badly swollen for several months and he became very weak and emaciated.
After a few months of detainment, Mr. Wang was sentenced to three years of forced labor. However, no labor camp would accept a disabled person like him, so the police wanted to extort 7000 Yuan (500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China) from his family and release him. Since his family was unable to pay the money, he was sentenced to seven years in jail. Mr. Wang has been detained in the No. 4 Dabei Prison in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. The persecution on Mr. Wang had great impact on his family. He has elderly parents, his wife who is mentally unstable, and two children who
are students, used to depend on his income to survive. Without his income, they have become indigent.
Wei Xingyan was Publicly Raped by Police in Chongqing City
Ms. Wei Xingyan, 28, is a third-year graduate student majoring in high-voltage electricity transmission at Chongqing University. Ms. Wei was arrested and interrogated by the "610 Office" in Shapingba District, Chongqing City on May 11, 2003 because police suspected that she had put up balloons and banners that have the words of Falun Gong around the campus.
On the evening of May 13, 2003, one policeman took Ms. Wei to a room in the Baihelin Detention Center in Shapingba District. He then ordered two female prisoners to strip her naked. Then, the policeman pinned her to the ground and raped her in front of the two female prisoners.
Ms. Wei then began a hunger strike to protest the torture at the detention center. The guards force-fed her. During the forced feeding, they purposely damaged her trachea and esophagus with the feeding tube, which disabled her in such a way that she could no longer talk. On May 22, 2003, she was on the verge of death and was sent to the Southeast Hospital in Chongqing City. Many plainclothes police from the "610 Office" monitored her around the clock to prevent her from sharing the truth about how she had been tortured and raped.
Due to the extremely tight information blockade, little else is known about Ms. Wei's current situation. Since June 2003, out of fear that Ms. Wei's case might be exposed, the "610 Office" has arrested more than 50 Falun Gong practitioners in Chongqing City.
Yang Jingfang Sentenced for Appealing to the Government
Ms. Yang Jingfang, born on September 30, 1949, was a senior technician working for Jianghuai Instrument and Meter Plant in Hefei City, and lived in Room 507, 25 Shuihu Road, Hefei City, Anhui Province. She went to Beijing in May 2000 to appeal for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong, for which the Western District Court of Hefei sentenced her to one year of imprisonment. After her release in 2001, she was deprived of rights of working and welfare.
On October 30, 2002, while away from Hefei on a business trip, Ms. Yang received a phone call from her workplace asking her to return immediately. Police abducted her immediately upon her return.
From October 30 to December 1, 2002, Ms Yang was detained in the post office building, where the police kept her handcuffed her to a chair for 32 days and nights continuously. She was only allowed to sit but not allowed to sleep; nor was she allowed to wash, shower, or change. Due to the long time sitting chained to a chair, her wrists were lacerated, feet swollen, and her hips in pain. She twice entered a prolonged unconscious state from the severe pain in her pelvis, back, spine, and neck. From November into the winter, the room was heated and the air was very dry. The police would not allow her any drink of water, which caused her to have cracked lips and a very painful throat.
On June 5, 2003, Shushan District Court of Hefei sentenced Ms. Yang to three and a half years' imprisonment in the absence of the major "witness", Ms. Wen Yan, and using forced "evidence" extracted by torture, which Ms. Yang had not acknowledged. Ms. Yang is in the process of filing an appeal. She is presently being incarcerated in Hefei Detention Center.
Force-Fed Boiling Water, a Farmer was Tortured to Death  |

Mr. Zhang Xuewen, 54, was a farmer living in Fangtai Town, Hulan County, Heilongjiang Province. He began practicing Falun Gong in 1994.
After July 1999, when the Chinese government banned Falun Gong, he was arrested and detained many times because he continued to practice. In April 2003, local police arrested Mr. Zhang and sent him to the Hulan County Detention Center because he was distributing flyers exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. At the detention center, he went on a hunger strike for more than 90 days to protest the persecution, during which time he was tortured and force-fed. As a result, Mr. Zhang lost so much weight that his condition became very serious. His body appeared to be only skin and bones, his face was ashen, his eyes were tightly closed, and he could not stand.
On June 20, 2003, the guards at the detention center claimed that Mr. Zhang had appendicitis and sent him to the detention center clinic to undergo surgery. The surgery results, however, showed that he did not have appendicitis. Later, to torture him, the doctor and guards at the detention center force-fed him boiling water. The internal damage he sustained caused him to have blood in his stool. In an attempt to hide the torture, the authorities at the detention center would not allow his family to visit him, nor would they let Mr. Zhang seek medical care. Each day, he would lie on a wooden board, unattended.
At the end of July 2003, without any legal process, the legislative and judicial departments of Hulan County sentenced Mr. Zhang to five years in prison. He was already on the verge of death when he was transferred to Hulan Prison in Harbin City on August 7, 2003. Mr. Zhang died of the torture on the morning of August 8, 2003. When his family received notice of his failing condition and went to the prison, he was already dead. His body was all skin and bones, and he had lost all of his teeth due to the torturous force-feeding.
On August 9, 2003, Mr. Zhang's corpse was cremated under the guard of more than ten armed policemen.
Zhao Chunying Tortured to Death, Organs were Taken  |

Ms. Zhao Chunying, female, 56, was a Falun Gong practitioner from Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province. Ms. Zhao had been arrested and detained at the Hengshan District Branch Office of the Jixi City Police D epartment in 1999 after the crackdown on Falun Gong began. She was sent to the Wanjia Labor Camp. After her release, she wrote about her ordeal in the labor camp and posted it on the Internet. When the local police from the Hengshan District Branch Office discovered this, they arrested her again on April 15, 2003 and sent her to the Jixi City No. 2 Detention Center. On May 10, 2003, her family was notified of her death.
Ms. Zhao's body was kept at the Jixi Funeral Home. Her family members were extremely shocked upon seeing her injured body. Her eyes were slightly open, her face was a purple-blue color, and there was a big crack on the back of her head. There were bloodstains everywhere, and her ribs were fractured. Her bones and the joints of her arms were clearly visible. Her family decided to take photos and lodge an appeal regarding her death. The guards tried to stop them, saying that no photos were allowed. Ms. Zhao's family persisted and finally managed to take several photos. A forensic doctor then examined her body, but lied under police pressure, saying that the body might have been wounded due to self-inflicted punches, or because she was sick, or that perhaps other prisoners had beaten her to death. Her family asked him, "Why do you refuse to say that it is possible that she was beaten to death by police?" The doctor was silent.
Due to the wretched condition of Ms. Zhao's body, her family requested an autopsy. Through their persistent efforts, the request was granted. The Jixi Province Procuratorate carried out the first of two autopsies on Ms. Zhao's remains. They found a large knife wound on her head. They also found four broken ribs and many black and purple bruises that they concluded were the results of a severe beating. According to their findings, the beating also caused considerable internal bleeding. On November 15, 2003, the Heilongjiang Judicature Appraisal Committee conducted a second autopsy. Ms. Zhao's family members were trying to sue the people who are responsible for her death. Karmic Retribution: Violent Death of Middle School Official Holds a Valuable Lesson
(Clearwisdom.net) Tang Xiaoping was a healthy 40-year old man. He was the party-appointed vice secretary at the 18th Middle School and later served in Jiangbei District's Center for Teacher Advancement Studies. He died in a car accident while on vacation for the October 1st National Day holiday. He was the only one in the car that died.
Tang Xiaoping had vigorously persecuted Falun Gong since July 20, 1999. In all the school meetings since then he viciously attacked Falun Gong and its founder. He boasted about how he would persecute faculty members who were determined to practice. Over the past few years, he persecuted faculty members who practiced Falun Gong by withholding their bonuses and lowering their salaries, taking their Falun Gong books, illegally arresting them, and sending them to brainwashing classes and labor camps for further persecution. When practitioners had served their time and returned to the school, he would lay them off. His actions were the cause of much stress, financial loss, and restricted personal freedom for practitioners and their families.
Tang Xiaoping was later transferred to the Jiangbei District Center for Teacher Advancement Studies, where he continued to find opportunities to attack Falun Gong and incite hatred. During the recent October 1st holiday in China, Tang Xiaoping, his wife, and two other couples from the education board took a vacation to Guizhou, where the car accident occurred. Tang Xiaoping was thrown out of the car and died instantly. Four of the other five passengers were injured and are being treated in Guanyin Bridge 324 Hospital, Chongqing City. Tang Xiaoping's wife suffered a concussion. The only one who was unharmed was the driver, the center's appointed director. Over the last few years, he has come to understand the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong. In this critical moment he was saved.
Each time we publish news of this nature, we do so with heavy hearts. These people started off as public servants, but under the intense pressure applied by the Jiang regime, they were pushed into persecuting Dafa disciples. In the process of destroying the lives of kind, law-abiding citizens, they have sealed their own fates and inevitably faced karmic retribution as punishment. If it weren't for Jiang's wicked orders, perhaps their fates would've been different.

1. [Tianjin] Ms. Wang Jingxiang Loses Memory Due to Torture in Banqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp
Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Jingxiang, 50, is being held in Unit No. 2 of Banqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp.
In 2000, Ms. Wang was arrested and sentenced to one year of forced labor for appealing on behalf of Falun Gong. On November 12, 2001, she was again arrested and sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor. Her term has expired, but the lawless officials have extended her term by six months.
Ms. Wang Jingxiang suffered inhumane torture in the labor camp. Labor camp guards not only beat her, they also mixed hallucinogens into her meals. She has suffered from memory loss as a result of the physical and mental abuse.

2. [Jilin Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Li Zhiyong Walks Out of Jilin Prison with Dignity
After 3:00 p.m. on October 13, 2004, Changchun Falun Dafa practitioner Li Zhiyong, who had been unlawfully held at Jilin Prison, was released unconditionally. Li has returned home safely after leaving the prison with dignity.
3. [Wafangdian, Liaoning Province] Three Falun Dafa Practitioners Arrested
Prior to the October 1 National Day of China, Wafangdian Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Shao Shuping, who is in her 40s, along with Wang, were arrested while distributing informational materials, and taken to the Wafangdian Detention Center. In addition, Ms. Sun Guixiang, who is in her 60s, was also taken to Wafangdian Detention Center.
4. [Binzhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhao Jinghua and Ms. Wang Jingxian Held at Bincheng District Detention Center
Ms. Zhao Jinghua and Ms. Wang Jingxian are employees of Binzhou Oil Pipeline Transportation Company in Shandong Province. At the end of September, officers from the Shixi Police Station in the Bincheng District of Binzhou City ransacked their homes after receiving reports. The two practitioners were arrested. Ms. Wang was considered to have "violated the law" since the officers found a piece of paper with the three words "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" on it. The two practitioners are being held at the Bincheng District Branch Police Department's detention center.

5. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Wu Junyang Taken to Benxi City Detention Center
At 12:10 a.m. on September 19, 2004, officers Chi Liansheng, Wang, Cong, and Ma from the Benxi City Branch State Security Unit, along with several officers from Qianjin Police Station, broke into Falun Dafa practitioner Wu Junyang's home. Wu had not eaten any food for a month, and was in very poor physical condition. Still, the police arrested Wu without presenting a warrant.
Wu Junyang is being held at Benxi City Detention Center in Liaoning Province. Wu's fate is uncertain.

6. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners Li Chunrong and He Chunfang Taken to Brainwashing Center
At 4:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on October 13, 2004, six people, including officers from the local "610 Office," a police officer of the last name Tao from Hongwei Road Police Station, and officials from the residential committee deceived Falun Dafa practitioners Li Chunrong and He Chunfang, and took them to the Gongren Village Brainwashing Center. The excuses the lawless officials used were "to have a talk outside" and "to take a look at your son at the mental hospital."
7. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners Mr. Li Hengnan and Wife Taken to Brainwashing Center
On the morning of October 14, 2004, Weifang City Falun Dafa practitioners Mr. Li Hengnan and his wife were taken to a brainwashing session after thugs broke into their home. The two practitioners are parents of Falun Dafa practitioner Li Jiangang who is being persecuted at Changle Forced Labor Camp.
8. [Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Su Huiming Again Arrested by Police
Ms. Su Huiming, 60, is a Falun Dafa practitioner from Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province. Ms. Su is a retired employee of Wanzai Electric Supply Company in Zhuhai. She started practicing Falun Dafa in October 1997. Around the time of the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2000 she was arrested by Wanzai police and held in a detention center. She walked out of the detention center four months later using her righteous thoughts. During her detention, the police went to her company and stole 1,400 yuan from her retirement pension, which has never been returned to her.
On October 14, 2004, Ms. Su Huiming was arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials and raising public awareness about Falun Dafa at Wanzai in Zhuhai City. She is being held at the Zhuhai No. 1 Detention Center. Her family has been denied any visits.
Zhou Jianwei, head of Wanzai Police Station, and Zhao Fang, deputy of the police station, led police and state security officers to her home. Ardong, a family member who is also a Falun Dafa practitioner, refused to open the door, but the police forcibly pried it open. The officers took away informational materials and over a dozen Falun Dafa books.
Several days later, the police came back with a document, and asked her family to sign it. They said that Sui Huiming would be sentenced to one year of forced labor and she could meet her family if the document was signed. Her family refused to sign, and said so solemnly. The police were discouraged and left.
9. [Hubei Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners Inhumanely Tortured in Qinduankou Prison
Four Falun Dafa practitioners in No. 3 Sub-Division of No. 1 Division in Qinduankou Prison are being subjected to inhumane persecution. Two are being held in isolation, and the other two are held in the maximum security unit. Chen Chuanhon, director of the No. 3 Sub-Division, ordered inmates and prison guards to torture them. Practitioners Zou Jianwu and Hu Zhigang have become bed-ridden. The two practitioners suffered injuries on the arm and leg respectively.

10. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Wang Shengping Arrested for Raising Public Awareness about Falun Gong on the Train
Ms. Wang Shengping is a retired employee of Wuchang Bureau of Electric Supply. She was arrested while raising public awareness about the persecution against Falun Dafa. After one month in police custody, she was taken to Yangyuan Brainwashing Unit in Wuhan City.
11. [Chongqing] Recent Developments in the Persecution against Falun Dafa Practitioner Mr. Zhang Peijin
After being arrested on August 19, 2004, Mr. Zhang Peijin went on a hunger strike, abstaining from food and water. On October 2, 2004, he was sent back home on medical parole from the hospital. Local police have assigned officers and security guards to keep an eye on him. His telephone has also been bugged, and he is not allowed to leave home. The police held a show trial for him on October 13. Mr. Zhang remains on his hunger strike.
12. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Qu Ping Arrested
Ms. Qu Ping, 45, lives at Liangjiadian in the Jinzhou District of Dalian City, Liaoning Province. At around 10:00 a.m. on October 10, 2004, she was arrested by local police officers while shopping with her family. She refused to cooperate with their unlawful demands and shouted "Falun Dafa is good" while being taken away by the police. The bag she carried for her family was also taken by the officers.
13. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Falun Dafa Student Li Xiumin Sentenced to Two Years of Forced Labor
Shijiazhuang City Falun Dafa practitioner Li Xiumin was sentenced to two years of forced labor on October 11, and has been taken to Unit 4 at the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp.
Since July 2004, Li had been held in custody at Shijiazhuang City's No. 2 Detention Center by Huaidi Police Station and Yuhua Branch Police Department in Shijiazhuang City. It has been reported that Li was locked up in a small isolation cell.
Li has also served three years of forced labor and suffered inhumane torture. Soon after returning home, Li was forced to leave town and become destitute, and did not have a chance to spend time with family members. Li was arrested for coming back home briefly to see his teenage son. Li's parents are in their seventies. Although Li's parents and son appealed on Li's behalf, Li was still sentenced to two years of forced labor after three months of custody. The organization responsible for the persecution is the Hebei Province "610 Office."

14. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Zhao Kaiyu Arrested Again for Distributing Falun Dafa Truth-Clarifying Materials
Ms. Zhao Kaiyu lives at Room 10, Gate 4 of Building 3 in the family quarters of Tangshan City Coal Research Institute. On the afternoon of April 14, 2004, Ms. Zhao was detained at Tangshan City No. 54 Middle School for distributing Falun Dafa informational materials. She then tried to tell teachers and students what was going on with the persecution of Falun Gong. However, officers from Xishandao Police Station were called in, and she was taken into custody. Jianshe Road Police Station, which is in charge of her residential area, later processed paper work and transferred her to Tangshan City No. 1 Detention Center. Lu Yanjun, who is in charge of her neighborhood, along with other police officers, took her to the detention center.
In late July 2001, Ms. Zhao was turned in to the police while distributing Falun Dafa informational materials in the family quarters where she lived. She was unlawfully taken to Tangshan No. 1 Detention Center, and her home was ransacked. She was threatened with prison terms, and had to go through well-connected people and pay them close to 10,000 yuan for help. While in custody, she was interrogated and punished by being tied up to an iron stool and slapped on the face. She was released on parole after over fifty days.
15. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Three Falun Dafa Practitioners Arrested
On September 13, 2004, Wu Baoliang and other officers from Chaoyang County Police Department arrested Falun Dafa practitioners Ji Fengchun and Sun Weizhi. They also ransacked the two practitioners' homes in Mutouchengzi Town, Chaoyang County, Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province. Falun Dafa practitioner Li Donghai was also detained at the local police station when asking for the release of the two arrested practitioners. Li Donghai was sentenced to two years and three months of forced labor, and is currently held at Xidayingzi Forced Labor Camp in Chaoyang City. Sun Weizhi slipped out of police custody using righteous thoughts. Ji Chunfeng has extorted close to 10,000 yuan before being released. Police showed up at Ji's home soon afterwards, and Ji has been forced to leave home.
Recently, Wu Baoliang, Fan Tielin and other officers at Chaoyang County Police Department have constantly committed bad deeds against Falun Dafa practitioners. They extorted cash and other valuables from Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Chen Baofeng's family. Chen's wife, Li Guiyun, does not have a job. She supports the entire family by selling a small quantity of vegetables. On July 19, 2004, Wu Baoliang and Fan Tielin forcibly took Ms. Li Guiyun to the county police department while she was at her vegetable counter in Panlong Market. The police took her as a hostage and threatened that if her family did not come up with 5,000 yuan, she would be sentenced to forced labor. Ms. Li was not able to pay that much. Other Falun Dafa practitioners heard about this and they barely came up with 2,000 yuan. Mr. Li was thus released by Wu Baoliang. After making this progress, Wu Baoliang could not wait to show up at Mr. Chen and Ms. Li's home several days later. They coerced Ms. Li to come up with more cash. Around the Chinese lunar Mid-Autumn's Day, Wu Baoliang sent people to stake out of Mr. Chen's home in an attempt to catch him.

16. [Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province] Lin Wuyong, Hu Yong, and Over a Dozen Falun Dafa Practitioners Again Taken into Custody
Mr. Lin Wuyong, Hu Yong, and a dozen more Falun Dafa practitioners were taken to a detention center by Zhuhai police prior to the October 1 National Day. When Mr. Lin's wife went to the detention center to give him clothes, officers refused to take the clothes, citing fear of SARS virus as an excuse. They told her that her husband could only purchase clothes sold by the detention center.
