“I Signed from My Heart”—Munich Festivalgoers Show Support for Falun Gong

Sept. 28, 2026 |   By Dexiang, a Minghui correspondent in Munich, Germany

(Minghui.org) Practitioners participated in Corso Leopold, a famous street festival in Munich, Germany, held September 12–13, 2026. They introduced Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, to the public and raised awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution and state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting. Many people signed a petition calling for an end to the human rights abuses.

Christian, a manager at a major automotive company stopped to watch as practitioners did the exercises and said, “I see that practitioners are peaceful. I like that, and they are very cheerful. They are good people.” She explained why she signed the petition. “Because I believe in goodness, and I see that this is for a good cause.”

Held twice a year, the Corso Leopold street festival transforms the stretch between the Siegestor (Victory Gate) and Münchner Freiheit into a car-free pedestrian zone. It becomes a vibrant stage for culture, clubs, events, and civic engagement—a multicultural gathering that brings together people from Munich and the surrounding region. The crisp, pleasant autumn weather drew more than 240,000 visitors to the two-day event.

Christian watched the practitioners’ exercise demonstration and said, “I first saw it in terms of relaxation, calming the body, and health.” He agreed with Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, “I really value respect. It all comes down to the concept of respect.”

It was hard for him to understand why the CCP persecutes practitioners who follow these principles. “Truthfulness and compassion are good. You have to be compassionate; you shouldn’t be malicious. And if someone makes a mistake, you can forgive them. And forbearance is good, too.”

He said he could not imagine that the principles could not be mentioned in China. But he knew the issues in CCP-controlled China, “I know that if you go to China, you aren’t allowed to talk about it. You’d face discrimination.”

Christian agreed with the practitioners raising awareness of the persecution. “It is important to bring the issues that concern people out into the open so we can talk about them—to make this topic visible.”

Regarding how some people turn a blind eye to human rights for the sake of tangible gain, he said, “This is a form of corruption. It’s just a way for those in power—the big financial players holding positions of authority—to keep other people down. I don’t like that.”

He encouraged practitioners who are persecuted in China, “I wish you great strength and courage; stay strong. Don’t sell out. Believe in what is true.”

Sabine is a psychiatrist and owns a clinic. She said she was drawn to the exercise music. “The music appealed to me; it felt it was calming.”

Regarding Falun Gong’s guiding principles she said, “I think they are very important.”

She objected to the persecution, “Generally speaking—as the saying goes—‘man is a wolf to man.’ Whenever people band together in groups to oppress others, that is something I always reject.” She encouraged practitioners in China, “I hope that those who want to be free never stop fighting for it.”

She signed the petition calling to stop the forced organ harvesting and said, “I am opposed to organ trafficking. I find it terrible when people are forced—whether due to poverty or criminal motives—to undergo mutilation.”

She supported practitioners’ efforts to expose the persecution, “Because it raises people’s awareness of the issue. It creates awareness not just regarding China, but in general.”

As elderly care worker Christine Niva passed by the practitioners’ booth and saw practitioners meditating. “I saw the people sitting here—I was very interested in that. And the sense of calm, so I took some information.”

She talked with a practitioner to learn about the spiritual practice and the CCP’s persecution and forced organ harvesting. “How can a human being be so evil? No one has the right. What people are doing there doesn’t exist in nature. It’s inhumane. It’s just not right,” she said.

“I signed from my heart,” she said after she signed the petition. She commended practitioners’ efforts. “You have to raise awareness. Otherwise, people won’t know about it.”

Andreas Räublich, a tax advisor, and his friend passed by the Falun Gong booth. His friend was happy to talk with practitioners and said he occasionally did the exercises at home.

He signed the petition and said about the organ harvesting, “It’s unfathomable. That shouldn’t be happening anywhere in the world. It’s truly unimaginable that such a thing exists.

“It’s hard to even conceive of it, all because of a belief held by people who advocate a peaceful approach. And the fact that a state persecutes this [Falun Gong] is incomprehensible.”
