(Minghui.org) I will turn 72 this year, and I began practicing Falun Dafa on November 19, 1997. At that time, I was diagnosed with an incurable terminal illness called peripheral neuritis, which causes widespread muscle atrophy. When the specialists said there was no treatment for this disease, I waited in despair to see what fate had in store for me.

But heaven smiled upon me, and my luck improved when someone recommended a remarkable book, Zhuan Falun, to me and introduced me to Falun Dafa.

I immediately began reading the book and became convinced that this was a practice for cultivating Buddhahood. Overjoyed, I immediately felt a strong urge to learn the practice. The person who recommended Zhuan Falun to me said I could only borrow the book for three days and then had to return it to her.

Over those three days, I eagerly read the book twice—I simply couldn’t put it down. My mindset underwent a profound transformation. I immediately sought out the person who had lent me the book and told her that this practice was truly magnificent and that I was fully committed to continuing to learn it.

I collected every Dafa book available at the time and immersed myself in cultivating in Falun Dafa. I forgot about my illness and the looming threat of death. Gradually, something miraculous occurred: the muscle atrophy began to diminish, and I showed signs of steady improvement.

On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin, former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader, launched a nationwide persecution of Falun Dafa. He led a relentless campaign of slander and suppression against a practice that benefits both the nation and its people, spreading malicious rumors to defame Master Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Dafa.

When I heard this news, I was deeply saddened; how could the state government lie so blatantly? My experience of being pulled from the brink of death serves as living proof of the miraculous power of Falun Dafa. To defend the practice, I went to Tiananmen Square to share my story: I wanted everyone to know that since I began practicing, I haven’t taken a single pill or received a single injection. I used to spend half of every month hospitalized for treatment, yet, in less than a year, my terminal illness disappeared, saving a significant amount of money in medical expenses for both my workplace and myself.

At Tiananmen Square, a police officer asked me why I was there. I replied, “What is being said on the news is incorrect; it is full of slanderous fabrications about Falun Dafa.”

I asked the officer to look for any signs of muscle atrophy in my body. I explained that before practicing, my muscles had gradually withered, but I had regained two-thirds of the original mass. Therefore, Falun Dafa had performed a miracle in my life.

The officer responded, “You are wrong.”

I was surprised, but I exclaimed, “But what I’m saying is the absolute truth!”

He continued, “Don’t be so quick to interrupt me; just listen to what I have to say first. I am a neurologist at the General Hospital of the Beijing Military Region Army; I transferred to the Public Security Bureau this year and haven’t even been officially assigned to a specific position yet. At the General Hospital, I worked with patients just like you.

“This condition, known as peripheral neuritis, causes muscle atrophy. The prognosis of this illness is very poor, let alone improvement or recovery. That alone is one miracle. Furthermore, you mentioned that you regained two-thirds of your muscle mass, something I have never, ever heard of before. That is a second miracle. Therefore, Falun Dafa has brought about two miracles in your life. How, then, can you say that it created only one miracle?”

At Tiananmen Square, this officer, relying on his professional expertise and experience, saw firsthand the miracles that Falun Dafa practice brought about in me.

With continued Fa study and the exercises, my condition was completely healed. Falun Dafa gave me a new lease on life. I am deeply grateful to Master Li.
