(Minghui.org) A 74-year-old woman in Huangchuan County, Henan Province has been detained since her arrest in mid-March 2026 for her faith in Falun Gong.
Ms. Yu Jingchun is currently held at the Xinyang City Detention Center. Her family has been kept in the dark regarding her current situation.
Ms. Yu, a retired textile factory worker, took up Falun Gong in 1997. Shortly after, most of the ailments that she had struggled with for years disappeared, including anemia, sciatica, lumbar spine disorders, and bone hyperplasia. After the Chinese Communist Party ordered the persecution in 1999, she remained firm in her faith and has been repeatedly targeted.
A group of officers harassed Ms. Yu at home in July 2000 and questioned her on whether she was still practicing Falun Gong. She said yes. The next morning, the police deceived her into going to the police station. She was arrested upon arrival and taken to the Hedian Detention Center. The police extorted 2,000 yuan from her before releasing her one month later.
Ms. Yu was arrested again on September 13, 2006, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was held at the Xinyang City First Detention Center for ten days.
Also for talking to people about Falun Gong, Ms. Yu was arrested again on November 16, 2011, and taken to the Huangchuan County Lockup. Six officers from the Huangchuan County Domestic Security Office, including Chen Lin, Hu Xiaobin, and Wang Yuanfeng, raided her home the next morning. She was held at the Hedian Detention Center for over a month. After she was released, the police submitted her case to the local procuratorate, resulting in her being sentenced to three years with a four-year probation.
Ms. Yu was talking to a friend on the street on the morning of March 1, 2022, when over ten officers surrounded her and pushed her into their cruiser. The police went to her home around 8:30 p.m. and forced her husband to sign a statement, promising that he would watch her and prevent her from practicing Falun Gong. They threatened to seek prosecution of her if he didn’t comply. Ms. Yu was released around midnight.
Ms. Yu was arrested again in August 2025. She was denied admission to the Xinyang City Detention Center due to health reasons and released later that day.
