Feb. 11, 2026 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) A 62-year-old woman in Renqiu City, Hebei Province, was sentenced to three years and three months on January 6, 2026, because she practices Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Ms. Feng Suxia was targeted after surveillance cameras recorded her putting up self-adhesive stickers which had messages about the persecution of Falun Gong. Officers from the Cangzhou City Domestic Security Office, the Renqiu City Domestic Security Office, and the Chu’an Police Station surrounded her home on October 10, 2025, and chased away onlookers. With guns in hand, the police raided her home and confiscated numerous valuables, including her electric bike and clothing.

Ms. Feng was taken to the Renqiu City Detention Center on October 22, 2025 and a formal arrest warrant was issued. The Renqiu City Court tried her on January 6, 2026, and convicted at the end of the hearing. She is appealing her prison sentence.

Ms. Feng took up Falun Gong in 1998 and became a much better person. Her husband had four brothers and none of them or their wives were willing to care for her bedridden father-in-law. She invited the elderly man to live with her family and took meticulous care of him.

After the persecution began in 1999, Ms. Feng was arrested multiples times and sentenced to three years with four years probation in 2011.

Past Persecution

Ms. Feng went to Beijing in late 1999 to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. She was arrested and taken back to Hebei and put in the Renqiu City Detention Center. Officer Zhang Aitian extorted 5,000 yuan from her family and released her 13 days later. Her two children were still in school, and her father-in-law was incapacitated. Her husband had to borrow from multiple people to pay the 5,000 yuan fine.

Ms. Feng wrote to officer Zhang in early 2004, seeking the return of the 5,000 yuan. In response officer Du Zhongfu and about six other agents arrested her. She was not released until several months later.

More than 12 officers from the Cangzhou City Domestic Security Office, the Renqiu City Domestic Security Office, and the Chu’an Police Station barricaded the fence at Ms. Feng’s home around 11 p.m. on August 25, 2010, and arrested her. She was only wearing a tank top and shorts, but they did not let her change clothes.

The police interrogated Ms. Feng at the Chu’an Police Station. They placed her in a metal chair and cuffed her hands behind her back. When her family visited her, they noted multiple scrapes on her wrists and that her hands were very swollen.

Ms. Feng stood trial on March 1, 2011. Her face was pale and her body was swollen. She needed assistance getting into the car when she was transferred from the Renqiu City Detention Center to the Renqiu City Court to attend the trial. The judge had a criminal inmate as his “assistant judge.” He sentenced Ms. Feng to three years with four years probation. Her mother-in-law was so traumatized that she died not long after. Ms. Feng was not allowed to attend the funeral.

Ms. Feng was released in May 2012. During her nine-month detention, she was brutally tortured and her health deteriorated.
