Turning a Bad Thing Into Something Positive

(Minghui.org) When I rode the bus home from work I noticed an elderly lady sitting in a strange position. Instead of leaning back in her seat she held onto the handle above her head. Her head drooped down and she was asleep.

I was worried that she might fall off her seat, so I told her that I could support her while she slept. She opened her eyes and explained that she had to sit like this to relieve the pain in her lower back. I told her about Falun Dafa and said that miracles could happen if she sincerely recited “Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” and her pain might disappear.

The woman immediately shouted that I was promoting Falun Dafa! Her husband was sitting next to her, and yelled, “Are you against the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)? Are you being paid to promote Falun Dafa? The CCP pays me and this bus belongs to the CCP, so you should get off the bus!”

The bus was crowded and some passengers started to make a fuss, “Call the police to arrest her!” The atmosphere became very tense.

I felt intimidated, but at the same time I thought I should take the lead. My righteous thoughts came up and I felt should be the one calling the shots.

I said loudly, “This lady had lower back pain and I was kindly telling her about the benefits of reciting Falun Dafa’s nine auspicious words. Besides, the CCP does not pay us practitioners. We all work hard to earn our pay. Would we get paid if we didn’t work? Chinese peoples’ taxes support our society. The CCP produces nothing—instead many people died during the pandemic. If you’ve ever traveled outside China you would know that Falun Dafa is practiced all over the world.”

Most passengers quietly listened and some agreed with me. They said they had indeed seen people practicing Falun Dafa in other countries. The old couple who accused me quickly got off the bus at their stop, and the people who echoed the accusation to call the police calmed down and lowered their heads. The evil factors were dissolved.

At first I just wanted to help the woman. Because of her commotion I let go of my fear and mustered up the courage to speak the truth. In the end most people on the bus understood the facts about Falun Dafa. A bad thing was turned into a good one.

From this incident I realized that "one righteous mind can subdue one hundred evils." (Lecture Three, Zhuan Falun) Also, in the Fa teachings at the Western American Fa Conference, Master said,

“If upon encountering trying circumstances your thinking can be truly righteous, then, when faced with the evil’s persecution and when faced with interference, just one sentence of yours fortified with steadfast righteous thoughts can instantly make the evil disintegrate (applause), and it will make those who are being used by the evil turn and flee, it will make the evil’s persecution of you dissolve, and it will make the evil’s interfering with you disappear without a trace. (“Teaching the Fa at the Western U.S. International Fa Conference,” Collected Teachings Given Around the World Volume VII)

I would like to express my gratitude to Master for his compassionate protection, which helped me dare speak up for Falun Dafa.
