(Minghui.org) A Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province, resident, was admitted to the Shaanxi Province Women’s Prison in February 2025 to serve a four-year term for her faith in Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.

Ms. Zhang Fenglian, in her 70s, was arrested on October 22, 2023, by officers from the Nanzheng District Police Department. They raided her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, informational materials, DVDs, and other personal belongings.

While Ms. Zhang was being interrogated at the police department, another group of officers staked outside her home and arrested 11 Falun Gong practitioners who went to visit her. They were all released that night.

Ms. Zhang was taken to the Hantai District Detention Center the next day. Her family was given a notice stating that she was put on criminal detention for “using a cult to undermine law enforcement,” a standard pretext used by the communist regime to frame Falun Gong practitioners. The notice didn’t say how long the detention would be.

Ms. Zhang’s family learned in December 2023 that she had been issued a formal arrest warrant. They recently confirmed her prison admission in February 2025.

Ms. Zhang’s husband is blind and works as a massage therapist. With her in jail, he struggles to take care of himself.
