(Minghui.org) Newark held its Independence Day celebration on July 4, 2025, which included an outdoor concert at the University of Delaware gymnasium at 6 p.m. The popular event drew thousands of people. Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) practitioners participated, and many people learned about the spiritual practice.

Nathaniel, a graduate student at Arcadia University, and his wife went to the Falun Dafa booth and immediately expressed their desire to learn the exercises. Nathaniel said he had tried meditation before to relieve the stress of studying.
After he and his wife practiced the second and fifth Falun Dafa exercise, Nathaniel said he felt comfortable and relaxed. He said he would learn and practice Falun Dafa after returning home.

After Rahul Kovuru, a graduate student at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Delaware, tried the Falun Dafa exercises he said it felt, “Very soothing. I like the exercise. I feel very refreshed—refreshed out of this full, stressful day.” Rahul said the exercises are easy to learn. “It’s very easy. We can do it anywhere.”
Many people agree with Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance and condemned the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution. People also signed a petition urging the U.S. Senate to pass the Falun Gong Protection Act.

Chinese people attended the concert and some renounced the CCP and its affiliated organizations at the event.
Mr. Li from Fuzhou moved to the U.S. many years ago. He said, “I support Falun Dafa. The CCP has no reason to not allow people to practice it.”
His two friends renounced the CCP organizations after learning about the CCP-staged Tiananmen self-immolation incident that was used to frame Falun Gong.
Mr. Ruan passed by the Falun Dafa booth and heard a practitioner mention quitting the CCP. He said he did not pay annual dues to the CCP for years because it did many bad things. He quit the CCP on the spot.
Paula Ennis, Director of the Newark Parks and Recreation Department, said the concert attracted about 3,000 people and has been held for many years. She said she was pleased to see the practitioners participating in the event.
