(Minghui.org) More than 50 articles were recently published between May 14 and 31 on Minghui.org in the Celebrating World Falun Dafa Day series. This year marked the 33rd anniversary since Falun Dafa was introduced to the public on May 13, 1992. In their articles, practitioners described how they adhere to Falun Dafa’s guiding principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance when they encounter adversity and how they are thankful to Master Li, the founder of the practice.
Canadian practitioners said that they found these articles beneficial for their cultivation.
In the article, “You Are the Best Teacher,” the author explained that by practicing compassion, her students that had difficulty calming down changed and were well-liked by teachers and parents.
Ms. Huang said she was educated in China before she moved to Canada. She said the author demonstrated how sincerity and kindness can change students and teaches them how to respect others and be responsible for themselves.
The author showed students how to remain humble and respect others—traits consistent with traditional Chinese culture. When there were conflicts, she reminded her students to look within and examine themselves instead of blaming others. Over time, the students developed good manners.
Ms. Huang said this shows how Falun Dafa practitioners are extraordinary in this modern society. Influenced by communist ideology, people in China fight fiercely for their own interests and even children are heavily influenced. A teacher like the author, who leads students with principles and her own actions, is needed to guide children with traditional values and help solve social problems.
Ms. Huang said this is why Falun Dafa is wonderful, especially in a society already damaged by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). For someone like herself who grew up in the CCP culture, Falun Dafa taught her what is truly good and what is truly bad. Following one’s own conscience and always striving to be a better person is something Ms. Huang learned from Falun Dafa. This is also why she feels Falun Dafa is precious.
The relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law can be challenging. The article, “My Warm Relationship with My Mother-in-Law” shows that, although difficult, it’s possible to have a good relationship as long as the people involved follow traditional values such as Falun Dafa’s teachings.
Ms. Zhang, a college student in Canada, said the article was very interesting. In the section “Female Propriety,” the author talked about one incident in which her mother-in-law explained the traditional relationship between men and women. Women’s Commandments, an ancient book from the Han Dynasty, specified how women should behave.
After she read the article, Ms. Zhang reflected on her understanding. Influenced by CCP culture, many women tend to fight with men and insist on being in charge. But the balance of yin and yang in traditional values also balances society and makes it better. Ms. Zhang realized that a person should not drift along with modern society’s trends. By following Falun Dafa’s principles, one can do better by returning to traditional values and thus set a good example for society.
In the article, “Great Happiness from Falun Dafa – A Life of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance,” the author reviewed her experiences since she began to practice Falun Dafa. She not only miraculously survived what would have been a fatal accident, she recovered within four days through practicing Dafa.
Ms. Gao is involved in social media promotion in Canada and said she was touched by the author’s modesty. When she reflects on her experiences since she began practicing Falun Dafa many years ago, Ms. Gao said she’s also very grateful. She always reminds herself that she’s a practitioner and she should be compassionate when she makes decision.
The author described her challenges in dealing with her teenage son. With patience, kindness, and wisdom, she was able to resolve issues and guided him in the right direction. But she said that none of this is possible without Falun Dafa’s teachings. Looking at her own life, Ms. Gao said she also had conflicts with her mother, which caused them both stress. “I’ve come to understand that the issue is not who’s right or wrong—instead everything is an opportunity for me to improve myself and do better,” she said.
Ms. Gao said that wanting others to change does not work. As a practitioner, she learned to look within first and then the situation changes. She is thankful to Master Li for the opportunity to practice Falun Dafa.
The article, “Letting Go of the Deep Grudge Against My Mother” described how a European practitioner let go of resentment and was able to get along well with her mother. When she faced a test related to her attachment to material interest in her family, she was able to handle it appropriately as a Dafa practitioner. Afterwards, her relatives respected her. Ms. Liu said she was very touched and understood the practitioner’s challenges while living outside China.
The author also mentioned how she overcame the language barrier and introduced Shen Yun to Western society. Although she studied German for only one month, she was able to answer questions. The same thing happened when she promoted Shen Yun in the French-speaking region of Switzerland.
After Ms. Liu struggled with the language barrier, she realized that as a Falun Dafa practitioner, she should have righteous thoughts and have faith in Master and Dafa. Once when she collected signatures to stop the ongoing persecution in China, Ms. Liu said Master showed her a sentence and she just needed to say it. The result was very good.
She said we should not be restrained by our human notions. As practitioners, we know who we are and we should also do our best to truly cultivate and fulfill our missions. When our heart is on the Fa, miracles happen.
Ms. Du in Canada did not start to practice Falun Dafa until the CCP began to suppress the practice in 1999. Because she read Zhuan Falun before the persecution began, she knew the CCP was lying.
In the article “I Became the Most Popular Person in the Village,” the author returned to his hometown, took care of the elderly and helped out in the community—from shoveling snow, repairing the road, to building a bridge. The villagers also changed their attitude about Dafa. One said, “I don’t know profound principles. We just look at you as a person. We believe that Dafa is good and that Master Li is great!”
Ms. Du was impressed that the author was not depressed amid adversities. Due to harsh persecution by the CCP, his wife divorced him and took everything, but he remained calm and positive. He was determined to practice Falun Dafa and through his behavior, he showed the villagers what Dafa is.
These remind Ms. Du the words from Master Li,
“...he is full of great aspirations while minding minor details.” (“Sage”,
Essentials for Further Advancement)
In fact, just doing things is not enough. Really understanding what Dafa is and genuinely cultivating one’s heart is the key to fully assimilate oneself to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Only then can we be true Falun Dafa practitioners who are always considerate of others.
