(Minghui.org) Practitioners held an event in Quimper on May 31, 2025. They set up an information booth at the Place Terre au Duc near the market in the city center. They hung banners, displayed information boards, distributed fliers, and collected signatures on a petition to end the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of Falun Dafa in China.

Located in western France, Quimper is the provincial capital of Finistère. With a population of nearly sixty-five thousand people, the city is filled with art and history. Many tourists come to enjoy the old district, which features unique timber-framed houses, the world-famous Quimper ceramics factory, and the trains which are decorated with Breton colors and patterns.

Retiree Is Interested in Learning the Exercises

Mr. André is a retiree and lives in the neighboring town of Plomelin. He told a practitioner that he began practicing Tai Chi 18 months ago. He was appalled when he learned that Falun Dafa is being persecuted in China.

He wished to learn the exercises and gave his contact information to a practitioner so that they could keep in touch. The next day he texted the practitioner and said, “Thank you for giving me this special moment!”

Ms. Béatrice started practicing Falun Dafa a few years ago, but stopped. As soon as practitioners finished setting up, she did the exercises with them. She said her health declined after her mother died. She resumed practicing Falun Dafa after she retired and her condition gradually improved. Within a week, all her illness symptoms disappeared and she started reading Falun Dafa’s main book, Zhuan Falun.

Reconnecting with Falun Dafa

Ms. Aïcha said that she was very touched when she saw the Falun Dafa booth. The photo of the young lady meditating on the flier prompted her to recall a painting that she saw at the Art of Zhen-Shan-Ren Exhibition in Quimper ten years ago.

After she saw the exhibition, Ms. Aïcha went online to learn the Falun Dafa exercises, but she did not continue practicing them. She said that she was currently having difficulties in her life, so she was happy to talk to Falun Dafa practitioners and learn the exercises again. She signed the petition and asked them to contact her if they do the exercises in Quimper. In the ten years since she saw the exhibition, she felt she lost many things. By talking with practitioners, she felt she reconnected with something precious—Falun Dafa. She said she felt good being with practitioners and she needed this kind of energy.

A gentleman specifically came to learn Falun Dafa. He explained that he learned the exercises online by himself, so when he saw the Falun Dafa practitioners, he was very happy. He hopes that they will start a practice site in Quimper.

A woman rode a bike  to the Falun Dafa booth and said she wanted to learn the exercises. She felt the Falun Dafa exercises brought her energy and she enjoyed it. She also signed the petition that calls for the persecution to end.

Tourists Enthusiastically Sign the Petition to End the Persecution

When Ms. Sylvie Parquet from Canada learned about the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners, she said, “I’m sorry. I cannot understand this kind of violent behavior. This makes me heartbroken.” She thanked the practitioners and signed the petition.

A couple read the information board about the forced organ harvesting and said it was unbelievable. The wife said she thought it was a hoax. Two Falun Dafa practitioners politely showed her the investigation results with regards to the persecution and live organ harvesting. The couple asked how they could get the data so that they could check it out for themselves. They said, “This kind of thing is totally unimaginable. Why isn’t the media reporting about this? You’ve helped us learn a lot today. Thank you!” 

A group of Chinese students who were touring Quimper stopped near the Falun Dafa booth, and some of them looked at the banners before their tour guide led them away.

A Taiwanese student and a French person who is learning Chinese talked with practitioners. The Taiwanese student said he’s seen practitioners do the exercises in Taiwan and he knew the CCP persecuted practitioners. He told practitioners that some of the Chinese tourists read the practitioners’ information boards.

A group of young people passed by the booth and one of them read a display board about the prices of organs harvested for sale on the black market by the CCP. He wanted to learn more and asked many questions. When the rest of the group kept walking, he quickly took a few flyers and ran to catch up with them.

Even though the event ended, people continued coming to the booth to ask about Falun Dafa.
