(Minghui.org) This July marks the 26th anniversary since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to suppress Falun Gong in July 1999.
There were about 100 million practitioners when the CCP began the persecution in 1999. To stop practitioners from following their faith and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, former CCP leader Jiang Zemin established the 610 Office, an extralegal agency, to oversee this nationwide suppression. Penetrating all levels of the Chinese government, this agency mobilized every government organ, including the justice system. Jiang ordered them to “ruin [practitioners’] reputation, bankrupt them financially, and eliminate them physically.”
As a result of the CCP’s continued brutality and lies, many practitioners have been harassed, arrested, and tortured. To provide readers with a glimpse of the persecution in summary, searches with keywords below were recently conducted on the Chinese version of Minghui.org (which has more complete coverage than versions in other languages) between June 20, 1999 and June 19, 2025.
These terms yielded a total of 1,239,727 search results, though multiple keywords can be included in the same persecution case. Please note:
* Above numbers came from victims’ statements and reports by Minghui correspondents.* It is impossible to provide statistics on cases of forced organ harvesting due to the CCP’s cover-up.* Over 5,200 deaths caused by the persecution have been confirmed, including the practitioners’ names, gender, and location.* The regions with the highest number of persecution deaths (in descending order) are: Heilongjiang Province, Liaoning Province, Hebei Province, Jilin Province, Shandong Province, Sichuan Province, Hubei Province, Henan Province, Hunan Province, and Beijing.
Though many people are aware of the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong, its scale and severity are beyond most people’s imagination.
First, due to the CCP’s tight censorship, it is very difficult to access Minghui in China unless one uses special software tools to overcome the Internet blockade. The actual numbers may be much higher than those reported on Minghui.
Second, the types of physical torture and mental abuse practitioners have endured are too numerous to list in this report, and the coverage on Minghui is far from complete.
Third, Falun Gong practitioners and their families often have their safety and livelihoods threatened for publicizing the persecution they suffered. Only a portion of practitioners have been able to overcome these intimidation tactics and have the computer knowledge to be able to pass the information to Minghui.
Independent investigations have projected the number of organ harvesting cases to be in the millions, but obtaining detailed information is extremely challenging because the CCP regime uses every means to conceal or distort the information.
Given the above difficulties, the reports on Minghui could be just the tip of the iceberg. Nonetheless, they give readers a valuable glimpse into an unprecedented atrocity in modern society.
As explained in the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, the CCP’s core values are class struggle, hatred, brutality, and lies. Its tactics have been constantly sharpened and improved during political campaigns for decades. Aided by state-of-the-art censorship, surveillance, and big data systems, the regime not only harms Chinese citizens but also threatens the world through transnational repression.
Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are universal values. If we all follow our conscience, justice will prevail, and the CCP will end. Every person’s effort in this period of history is critical for both ourselves and our future.
