(Minghui.org) The newly-elected city council of Geneva, Switzerland, held its first plenary session on June 3, 2025. To thank the legislators for supporting their efforts to stop the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution, Falun Dafa practitioners in the French-speaking region of Switzerland delivered letters of thanks to every legislator, thanking them for voting in February this year to pass a resolution condemning the CCP’s state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting of practitioners in China. Following Swiss legal procedures, the resolution was submitted to the Federal Parliament, which will decide on subsequent measures.

Mr. Emmanuel Deonna, city council member from 2019 to 2023, was re-elected this year. He is the initiator of the resolution and was just re-elected.

The resolution was sponsored by eight council members in December 2019 and passed in February 2025.

The resolution states that in China, “suspicions also exist regarding the forced harvesting of organs from living people; that organized and planned forced organ harvesting constitutes a serious violation of fundamental rights; that around the world, a growing number of parliamentarians are protesting against such practices; that, in the face of increasingly strong suspicions, doctors, politicians, and human rights defenders have called on the international community to respond in recent months; that these legitimate concerns must be met with detailed responses from the Chinese authorities.”

The Geneva City Council invited the Administrative Council “To forward this resolution to the Federal Chambers so that they may call upon the Federal Council and ask it to intervene with the Chinese authorities to obtain explanations and, if necessary, demand an end to these practices; to ask the Federal Council for an updated position on the issue of organ harvesting in China; to ask the Federal Council to ensure that Swiss pharmaceutical companies testing anti-rejection drugs in China comply with ethical standards in this area; to ensure that money from organ harvesting and trafficking does not transit through Switzerland and does not generate any profit for our country.”

After receiving practitioners’ letter, Mr. Ahmed Jama, President of the City Council, was moved and said, “This is also thanks to you. You have supported us for many years, provided us with sufficient information, and explained the facts about the situation to many council members.”

Three new members of the Geneva City Council, Sara di Maio, Emmanuel Deonna, and Yolanda Martinez, spoke with the practitioners and praised them for their efforts to expose the persecution. After watching the practitioners’ exercise demonstration, they commended the peaceful practice and signed the petition calling for an end to the CCP’s brutality.
