(Minghui.org) A 72-year-old woman in Tangshan City, Hebei Province, has lost vision in her left eye and is having trouble with her right eye while serving an 8-year term in Hebei Province Women’s Prison for her faith in Falun Gong. She became mentally disordered in the past due to involuntary drug administration.

According to an insider, the prison refused to accept responsibility for Ms. Wang Ruiling’s eye condition, claiming that it was caused by cataracts. They ordered her family to pay for her surgery.

Ms. Wang was arrested at home around 3 a.m. on July 6, 2019, and later sentenced to eight years. She was admitted to Hebei Province Women’s Prison on April 15, 2021. She was held at the 14th and 13th Divisions before being transferred to the 17th Division recently.

Because Ms. Wang refused to renounce Falun Gong, she was subjected to frequent beatings. The inmates once grabbed her hair and hit her against the wall. They also poured cold water over her. When she refused to take an unknown medication the guards tried to give her, they pulled out several of her teeth and force-fed her the drug.

Ms. Wang became mentally unstable as a result of the abuse. She was irritable and had bouts of screaming day and night. She sat on the windowsill for hours in the middle of the night and wept. When she was quiet, she appeared dazed and confused.

In addition to Ms. Wang, at least two other practitioners are also being held in the 17th Division, including Ms. Han Liping, 75, and Ms. Hu Yuexia, 66. Ms. Han was diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer shortly after she was admitted to the prison, but the prison authorities have refused to grant her medical parole.
