76-Year-Old Shandong Man Arrested Again While on Bail, Incapacitated Wife Left to Fend for Herself

April 26, 2025 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) Mr. Wang Junheng, 76, in Yantai City, Shandong Province, was arrested around April 7, 2025, after being reported for talking to people about the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of his faith, Falun Gong. His wife, who has been incapacitated for years and relied on him, is left to fend for herself.

Mr. Wang credits Falun Gong with resolving his rheumatoid arthritis and other ailments. After the persecution began in July 1999, he held firm to his faith and was repeatedly targeted. Prior to his latest persecution episode, Mr. Wang was harassed numerous times between August 2019 and 2020. He was given one year of “bail pending trial” on April 24, 2020.

Mr. Wang’s latest arrest was preceded by another arrest on April 12, 2024 after he and a friend, Mr. Wang Huawei (no relation), accompanied two sisters to seek the release of their mother, Ms. Yin Minghua (who was later sentenced to three and a half years and fine 15,000-yuan in late August 2024 for practicing Falun Gong).

Mr. Wang Huawei and Ms. Yin’s younger daughter were both given 15 days of detention, but Mr. Wang Huawei was allowed to go home hours after his arrest because of his poor health. Ms. Yin’s younger daughter was released on April 27, 2024.

Mr. Wang Junheng and Ms. Yin’s older daughter were both given 37 days of detention and they were released on bail on May 20, 2024. Mr. Wang’s family were shocked by his appearance when he returned home. When he went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal arrest, he was force-fed and beaten repeatedly. His family took him to a hospital and the doctors found that one of his ribs was broken. He was still in pain weeks later.
