(Minghui.org) It was recently confirmed by Minghui.org that a Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, woman has been transferred to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison in September 2024 to serve a 3.5-year term for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Lou Mengli, 61, was arrested on the afternoon of April 15, 2024, while studying Falun Gong books with other practitioners. Between April 13 and 30, at least 18 other Falun Gong practitioners in Jinzhou were also arrested, after the police had monitored them for months. Prior to Ms. Lou’s arrest, the police had followed her for six months and installed a surveillance camera near her home.
Ms. Lou was held in the Jinzhou City Detention Center and later indicted by the Linghai City Procuratorate. She was sentenced by the Linghai City Court. Both entities have been designated to handle all Falun Gong cases in the greater Jinzhou region.
Ms. Lou took up Falun Gong in April 1997. Before that, she was hot-tempered, demanding, and couldn’t bear any losses. By studying Falun Gong, she said she understood how to be kind and considerate. At the same time, many of her ailments, including hyperthyroidism, heart disease, diabetes, neurosis, and otitis media, disappeared. In an accident in 2008, a bucket of sulfuric acid spilled all over her feet, but she wasn’t injured.
Since the persecution began in 1999, Ms. Lou has been repeatedly targeted for upholding her faith.
She was arrested at home on May 31, 2001, by Hongxing Police Station officers. They raided her home and confiscated over 30 Falun Gong books. She was taken to the police station and interrogated overnight. The police hit her back with a rubber stick and slapped her in the face over 20 times. She was taken to the local detention center the next day and detained for over two months. She was also fined 5,000 yuan.
Ms. Lou was arrested again on October 18, 2013, by Li Meishan, the head of the Jinzhou City 610 Office, and other agents. She was detained for 15 days and fined 30,000 yuan.
Ms. Lou was arrested yet again on June 28, 2019, and held in the Jinzhou City Lockup until July 8, 2019.
