After 10.5 Years Behind Bars for Her Faith, 56-Year-Old Hebei Native Faces Eviction as Authorities Threaten Her Landlord with Fines

Dec. 6, 2025 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) A 56-year-old woman is facing eviction after the authorities threatened her landlord with fines if he allowed her to stay.

Ms. Lin Fuhua, who had lived in Xiqing District, Tianjin, for years, moved back to her hometown in Gaobeidian City, Hebei Province, in 2019. She started a tutoring center to make a living.

In June and August 2025, the Zhenxi Police Station and the Yangliuqing Town government, both in Tianjin, twice dispatched agents to harass Ms. Lin at her mother’s residence in Gaobeidian City. They ordered her to renounce Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999. She refused to comply.

In mid-November 2025, the Zhenxi Police Station in Tianjin and the Xinqiao Township Police Station in Gaobeidian City together attempted to make Ms. Lin give up her spiritual faith. She again said no. The Xinqiao Township Police Station, along with the local village officials, then approached her landlord, threatening him with fines if he continued to rent his property to Ms. Lin.

It is unclear whether the landlord had submitted to the pressure at the time of writing.

This is not the first time that Ms. Lin has been targeted for her faith in Falun Gong.

Ms. Lin was detained for 17 days in March 2000 and removed from teaching at the Yangliuqing Town Third Middle School in Tianjin after she was released. It was unclear what job she was reassigned to do at the school.

After an arrest on May 7, 2002, Ms. Lin was sentenced to four years in Tianjin Women’s Prison. She was released in May 2006, only to be fired from her job.

Ms. Lin was arrested in Beijing on June 30, 2009 and given two years of forced labor. She served time at the Beijing Women’s Labor Camp and Hohhot Women’s Labor Camp in Inner Mongolia.

Ms. Lin’s next arrest was on May 16, 2013, in Changping District, Beijing. She was sentenced to four and a half years on November 13, 2014. She was admitted to the Tianjin Women’s Prison in April 2015.

During her imprisonment, Ms. Lin’s husband divorced her. After she was released, she moved from place to place. While working on her computer on the morning of August 8, 2019, several officers broke in and raided her rental place without a search warrant. They confiscated her Falun Gong books. The police later issued a search warrant.

Ms. Lin was not released until September 6, 2019, after her family paid a 2,000-yuan bail bond. She moved back to her hometown in Gaobeidian City, only to face the latest persecution episode mentioned above.
