An 82-year-old woman in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province died in 2018 after suffering years of persecution for her faith in Falun Gong, Minghui.org recently learned.

Ms. Xiong Xianqing, who retired from the Daqing Perforating Bomb Factory, took up Falun Gong in November 1995, and gradually recovered from her numerous diseases, including coronary heart disease, rheumatic heart disease, hypertension, tuberculosis, nephritis, hematuria, arthritis, and bone spurs. She was able to move her arms and hands again and no longer experienced frequent fainting. Almost illiterate, she was able to read Zhuan Falun, the main text of Falun Gong.

Upon learning of the arrests of some Falun Gong practitioners in Tianjin, Ms. Xiong boarded a train to Harbin (the capital city of Heilongjiang Province) on April 27, 1999, intending to appeal for their release. She was intercepted enroute there and returned to her workplace. She was detained for two days and extorted of 500 yuan before being allowed to go home. The money was never returned to her.

Ms. Xiong persisted in practicing Falun Gong after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) formally launched a nationwide campaign against Falun Gong in July 1999. She went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on May 1, 2000. Her workplace found out, and had her arrested. They forced her to write about her Beijing trip. She was released several hours later but her workplace stopped her pension.

Then chief Tian Ping of the Chuangye Police Station led several officers to raid Ms. Xiong’s home in the summer of 2000. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, Falun Gong lecture audio tapes, portrait of Falun Gong’s founder, and Falun Gong exercise music tapes. During interrogation, Tian punched and kicked her. He also grabbed her hair and slammed her head against the wall. At one point, he also held her down on the ground and savagely beat her. He threatened to give her a three-year prison sentence.

Ms. Xiong was released after an unknown amount of time. She went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong again on October 1, 2000. After she returned to Daqing, her workplace again seized her and kept her in a dark room. They ordered her to write statements to renounce her faith. She refused, and they took her to the Chuangye Police Station, where she was held for some time.

Several officers, including Liu He, arrested Ms. Xiong in November 2001, upon receiving a tip that she had distributed Falun Gong informational materials. She refused to go with them, so they carried her to their cruiser. One officer sat on her during the drive to the Chuangye Police Station.

Chief Feng Limin and three officers, including Xie Jinxi and Han Chunwen, knocked Ms. Xiong down. One of them stomped on her chest while others punched and kicked her. They even threatened to skin her. They later grabbed her hair and slammed her head against the wall.

After an entire afternoon’s interrogation with torture, Ms. Xiong was taken to the Honggang District Lockup, where she went on a hunger strike in protest and became very weak. She was released eight days later, but not before being forced to pay 175 yuan for food expense.

Ms. Xiong was sound asleep at around 9 p.m. on December 18, 2002, when four officers, including Feng and Xie, broke into her home and yanked her up. They didn’t even allow her to put on her shoes.

Ms. Xiong sat on the ground in the meditation posture, and Feng kicked her feet hard, breaking her right ring toe and pinky toe. Hours later, they took her to the Sartu District Lockup, where she went on a hunger strike and was force-fed.

On the third day of the force-feeding, Ms. Xiong stopped breathing and was taken to an unknown location for “resuscitation.” As she gradually came to, she heard someone saying, “Give her a 500-yuan injection to damage her Gong (energy obtained from practicing Falun Gong).” After she fully regained consciousness, she felt muddle-headed. The guards took her back to the lockup for more force-feeding.

Ms. Xiong was released 13 days later.

Several officers violently banged on Ms. Xiong’s door on July 25, 2006. She was not in and the police deceived her husband into opening the door. They confiscated all her Falun Gong books.

A plainclothes officer from the Chengfeng Police Station, along with a property management worker, harassed Ms. Xiong at home in October 2006.

Unable to cope with the endless persecution, Ms. Xiong and her husband moved in with their son in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, in April 2007.

In late April 2008, Ms. Xiong’s workplace deceived her family into revealing her whereabouts. The Honggang Police Department in Daqing City then traveled to Chengdu City to harass her. They also worked with the local Chengdu police to stake out her home to monitor her.

Ms. Xiong and her husband, who did not practice Falun Gong, lived in fear. To not implicate their son, they moved back to Daqing and faced continued harassment.

The long-term persecution took a toll on Ms. Xiong’s health. She died in 2018, at the age of 82.
