Ms. Yan Jing, of Shulan City, Jilin Province, was arrested on July 19, 2020 and detained for 13 days. On October 2 of that year, the Beicheng Police Station officers and local street committee harassed her at work and ordered her to sign statements to renounce her faith. They returned many more times and she ended up having to quit her job.
She was arrested again in 2021 and released hours later after she was found to be unfit for detention. On October 27 that year, the local court instructed the Nancheng Police Station to take her back into custody, but the Jilin City Detention Center declined to admit her after she failed the required physical examination. She was then sent back home, but soon sentenced to three years in prison in November 2021.
During the required physical examination, she was found to have late-stage breast cancer and allowed to postpone serving time. Her condition quickly worsened and she died around April 22, 2022.
