Some Thoughts on the Issue Of Killing

(Minghui.org) We are in the final phase of the Fa-rectification. However, some practitioners still cannot take seriously the issue of killing. 

Below is what my relative Aichun (also a fellow practitioner) experienced.

I live in a coastal city, and the residents love to eat seafood. Aichun’s whole family has been cultivating Falun Dafa for over 20 years. Both of her daughters are married and she and her husband live with the youngest daughter and her husband. Her son-in-law is not a practitioner and loves to eat seafood. 

His workplace is somewhat far from home and he comes back once every couple of weeks. Whenever their son-in-law came home, her husband would buy a lot of live seafood for him and ask her to cook it.

This involves the issue of killing. Aichun was not happy, as she didn’t want to kill a life. But she cooked for the family every day and didn’t want to waste any food either. So she just boiled the seafood every time her husband brought some home. 

Many years ago, my mother shared some thoughts with Aichun about the issue of killing. Aichun said her home was by the sea, and many people, including practitioners, all ate fresh seafood.

Three years ago, Aichun developed symptoms of dementia. When my mother visited her, Aichun was a bit confused and was unable to express herself logically. My mother didn’t pay attention to Aichun's situation at that time. Since my mother lived far away, she didn’t visit Aichun often. 

When my mother heard from another practitioner that Aichun didn’t recognize people because of dementia, she decided to visit. However, when my mother arrived, Aichun had already been taken home by her eldest daughter.

Aichun used to be very diligent in cultivation. She obtained the Fa before the persecution began on July 20, 1999; she went to Beijing to validate the Fa and talked to ordinary people about the truth behind the persecution. 

But her husband never went out to clarify the truth because of fear. He was also not nice to fellow practitioners who visited him. Gradually, practitioners stopped visiting them, and this was why nobody knew about Aichun’s situation. By the time everyone knew about it, however, Aichun was in a very serious state of sickness karma. 

She couldn’t take care of herself and couldn’t recognize anyone. Aichun passed away this past summer. 

Her daughter said that her mother couldn’t overcome some small tribulations, and so the tribulations had built up over time. She also didn’t pay much attention to the issue of killing. 

Master said clearly,

“For practitioners, we have set the strict requirement that they cannot kill lives.” (Lecture Seven, Zhuan Falun)

Aichun’s husband has been cultivating Dafa for over 20 years, and he knows clearly that practitioners cannot kill lives. He didn’t kill lives because he was afraid of creating karma, so he had his wife do it for him. 

It is his xinxing problem that he bought live seafood and had his wife kill it for him. Over time, this became a big tribulation that was hard to overcome.

If Aichun had refused to cook the seafood at the beginning, perhaps her husband would not have purchased it. So she, too, was not very steadfast in the Fa. 

But it’s too late to say anything now.

Of course, there might be some deeper reasons regarding Aichun’s death that we aren't aware of. Even so, I still wanted to share my understanding on this situation.
