(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 46 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Beijing] Over 20 Practitioners Arrested

A large number of police officers were dispatched in Huairou District to arrest Falun Gong practitioners on a large scale and ransack their homes. The coordinated arrests began around 7:00 a.m. on August 10, 2022.

About 20 practitioners were arrested, including Liu Guiqin, Wu Guoqin, Du, Liang Heping, Zhao Xiumei, Jia Cuihuan, Zhou Dedong, and Cao Hongmei.

2. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhou Yunxiu Faces Trial

A few days ago, the Xindu District Court notified Ms. Zhou Yunxiu’s defense lawyer that a pretrial meeting was scheduled on August 17, 2022, and the court would officially hold the trial at 9 a.m. on August 19.

3. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Dai Qingping Sentenced to One Year in Prison

Ms. Dai Qingping was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong and was arrested by officers from the Pozi Street Police Station on December 22, 2021. She was held in the Changsha City No. 4 Detention Center.

On July 6, 2022, Ms. Dai was tried in the Yuhua District Court. The court used the pandemic as an excuse and ordered Ms. Dai to wear protective clothing and a mask before entering the courtroom so that people could not see her face.

The prosecutor brought up charges that Ms. Dai had repeatedly clarified the truth about Falun Gong and persuaded people to quit the Chinese Communist Party and its youth organizations. The prosecutor also used surveillance video footage as evidence of her truth-clarification. The court did not issue a verdict that day.

It took some time before the court delivered a verdict to Ms. Dai’s family that she was sentenced to one year in prison. Ms. Dai has now filed an appeal.

4. [Hejiang County, Sichuan Province] Zhao Yongxiu Tried

Zhao Yongcxiu (gender unknown) was tried by the Hejiang County Court on August 15, 2022. Zhao’s lawyer attended the trial and pleaded not guilty. The trial ended without a verdict.

In mid-to-late August 2021, Zhao was arrested by officers from the Hejiang County Domestic Security Division while working in Zhao’s own store and was then held at the Naxi District Detention Center. Zhao was prosecuted by the Hejiang County Procuratorate for mailing letters of appeal.

5. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xu Lianjun and Ms. Jin Guirong Arrested

Ms. Xu Lianjun and Ms. Jin Guirong were reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong at the Jinshatan area on the morning of August 13, 2022. They were arrested by officers from the Jinshitan Police Station. Ms. Jin was released around 3 p.m. that afternoon. Ms. Xu was detained, her home was ransacked and her Falun Gong books were confiscated.

6. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yu Suzhen Arrested

Ms. Yu Suzhen from the Yangjiabu Development Zone, Hanting District, went home after buying lunch and was arrested by two plainclothes officers outside her home. They ransacked her home and confiscated seven Falun Gong books, a weekly publication, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, two audio players, and over 100 yuan in paper bills with Falun Gong facts printed on them.

Ms. Yu was taken to the Hetan police station, where the officers forcibly took samples of her blood, measured her height, and videotaped her. That afternoon, two officers interrogated her and said that they would detain her for 10 days. Ms. Yu did not cooperate and refused to sign paperwork. She was taken home that evening.

7. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Practitioner Huang Arrested

Practitioner Huang from Hongshan District was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials on July 23, 2022. Huang was arrested at home by three officers from the Beigang Police Station. The officers questioned Huang and asked where the printed materials came from. Huang did not answer their question. The officers threatened to detain Huang for 10 days. By 4 p.m. Huang was released after he/she signed the interrogation transcript.

The next day, the household registration police officer at the Luonan Street Police Station went to harass Huang. Afterwards Jinqiao Community Management Office personnel called and said that they would take Huang to a brainwashing center.

On the morning of August 16, the director of the Luonan Sub-district Administration Office pressured Huang to sign three statements at the office, but Huang refused.

8. [Xiangtan City, Hunan Province] Ms. Mo Liqiong Faces Trial

Accountant Ms. Mo Liqiong was arrested on the evening of February 5, 2021, when she went out. She was sentenced to one year and seven months by the Yuhu District Court on July 27, 2022.

Ms. Mo was scheduled to be released from prison on September 5. However, the Yuhu District Procuratorate, on second thought, considered the sentence too light. On August 4 the case against her was brought back to the Xiangtan City Intermediate Court.

The intermediate court has notified Ms. Mo’s lawyer that the second trial would be held between August 22 and August 26.

9. [Li County, Hebei Province] Ms. Hu Deyu Placed Under Criminal Detention

Ms. Hu Deyu, 67, from Xiaolizhuang Village, Wan’an Township, was arrested and taken to the Domestic Security Division of Li County Police Department by plainclothes officers on the morning of July 27, 2022. The next afternoon, the officers ransacked her home and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong. Ms. Hu was placed under 15 days of administrative detention.

On August 11, Ms. Hu was supposed to return home, but around 11 p.m. that night, officers from the Li County Domestic Security Division changed her detention status from administrative detention to criminal detention, and took her to the Baoding Detention Center.

10. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Gao Xiangbo Arrested

Ms. Gao Xiangbo from Xinli Village, Handian Town, was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials on August 11, 2022. She was arrested and taken to the Handian Town Police Station.

She was forced to sit in an iron chair at the police station. The officers dragged her around. They threatened to imprison her family. She was not released until the evening of August 12.

11. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Numerous Practitioners Arrested

In July 2022, many practitioners in Fuyu County were harassed or arrested. Practitioners known to have been harassed include Fu Jing, Tang Ying, Meng Fengying and her husband, Qiu Fen, Ye, and elderly Zhang Shuqing.

Practitioners who were arrested, detained, and whose homes were ransacked include Xu Jinfeng and her elder brother, Cui Hongmei, Ju Yanhui, Li Yan, Zhang Qing, Song Xinhua and her husband, Jiang Guangying and her daughter, Yan Shuxiang, Chen Shumei together with her husband and daughter, Guo Yunxiang, Yang Yue, and Hu Guifen.

These practitioners have all returned home. Among them, Xu Jinfeng, Ju Yanhui, Li Yan, Zhang Qing, Song Xinhua, Jiang Guangying, and Guo Yunxiang were released last and returned home on August 12.

12. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Lu Wei Officially Arrested

Ms. Lu Wei was officially placed under arrest by the procuratorate 36 days after she was arrested.

13. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Shouhui’s Monthly Allowance Terminated

Ms. Liu Shouhui was arrested on September 1, 2021, when she went to her husband’s work unit to collect their monthly allowance of several hundred yuan under her name.

That same day, she was sentenced to six months in prison by the Qiaoxi Court. After being held in the Zhangjiakou City Detention Center for a month or so, she was taken to Shijiazhuang Women’s Prison and held for six months. Ms. Liu returned home on February 28, 2022.

When she last went to her husband’s work unit to collect their living allowance, she was told that it had been terminated because of her prison sentence.

14. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Cuiling’s Home Ransacked Again

Ms. Li Cuiling is from the Longtan District. Her home was recently ransacked again by officers from the Xin’an Police Station. The officers said that Ms. Li had a printer, but there was no printer or computer in her home when they raided it. The officers said they would put Ms. Li under residential surveillance.

15. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Huang Xingli’s Home Ransacked

About 20 or 30 officers from the Chengdu City Domestic Security Division ransacked Ms. Huang Xingli’s home in Wuhou District at 11 a.m. on August 13, 2022. They did not show a search warrant when they entered her home. They confiscated three Falun Gong books, two framed photos of the founder of Falun Gong, one all-in-one PC, three desktop computers, three printers, two packages of A4 printing paper, two paper cutters, one bottle of ink, 268 paper bills (worth 1472 yuan) with Falun Gong facts printed on them, one Bluetooth, and three cell phones.

They also confiscated a photo of the founder of Falun Gong, two Falun diagrams in A4 size, Falun Gong practice tapes used years ago, and tapes of Falun Gong founder’s lectures in Jinan. The raid lasted until after 4 p.m. They took Ms. Huang to the police station. By 3 p.m. the following day, the officers notified her family to take her home.
