Grandma Detained for Her Faith, Two Grandchildren Traumatized

Sept. 25, 2022 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Jiangxi Province, China

(Minghui.org) After Ms. Tong Jinping’s son and daughter-in-law went to a neighboring province to work, they asked her to help take care of their two children, one in elementary school and the other in middle school.

When Ms. Tong, of Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, was suddenly arrested three months ago for her faith in Falun Gong, the two children were left in a dire situation.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

A group of police officers broke into Ms. Tong’s home at 5 a.m. on June 16, 2022 and arrested her. Her grandchildren were terrified. The arrest took place just one day before her granddaughter had to sit for a 3-day high school admission exam. As Ms. Tong’s son, who currently works in Jiangsu Province, was unable to come back or take his children with him, he has entrusted another family member to help care for them. The two children are longing for their grandmother to return.

Also at 5 a.m. on June 16, the police broke into the home of Ms. Tong Yinping, Ms. Tong’s sister, and confiscated her Falun Gong books and other related items.

A third practitioner, Mr. Li Yilong, was arrested that same morning and had his Falun Gong books, laptop, cellphone and a private car confiscated. The police didn’t present a search warrant or a list of confiscated items.

All three practitioners were taken to the Pencheng Police Station, confined to metal chairs and interrogated for over twenty hours. None of the police officers revealed their names or police IDs.

While Ms. Tong Yinping and Mr. Li were released on bail the next evening, Ms. Tong Jinping was taken to the Jiujiang City Lockup and then to the Jiujiang City Detention Center. Xiong, the head of the Ruichang City Domestic Security Office, is planning to submit her case to the procuratorate. Her family has hired a lawyer, who has had a video call with her.

The police recently called Mr. Li and summoned him to the police station. They claimed that they were not done with his case and signaled that they would also pursue his prosecution.
