(Minghui.org) Lately, I always felt there was never enough time to do things, and I had also spent less time on Fa study and doing the exercises. There was a big hurdle I’d yet to get over – a feeling of drowsiness. I was feeling sleepy all the time and would miss sending forth righteous thoughts at 12:00 a.m. almost every day.
All fellow practitioners around me are very diligent in cultivation and they all go to bed after sending forth righteous thoughts at midnight and would get up to do the exercises at around 3:00 or 4:00 a.m. Still, they are full of energy during the day.
I tried to do the same but always felt very sleepy after 10:00 p.m. A thought would appear in my mind: “Get some sleep now. I can always get up early tomorrow.”
The fact was I was never able to get up early the next day and found it very hard to keep my eyes open. As a result, I wasted a lot of time.
One night, I went to bed early as usual but was woken up by a noise later. I opened my eyes and saw it was just after 11:00 p.m.
My drowsiness took over and I fell back to sleep. A little while later, I felt something patting my temple lightly. I opened my eyes and saw it was almost 12:00 a.m. - time for sending forth righteous thoughts.
I got up and walked around in a daze, with a bad headache. My head felt bloated and heavy. I sat on the bed and felt overwhelmed by drowsiness. I fell asleep again.
Just then, a kitten came and sat in front of my head. It stretched out a paw and pulled out a bug from my head. I took a close look. The bug was golden, as if it had wings, about the size of a thumbnail. “What is this? A sleep bug!” I was startled and sat up instantly.
“Thank you, Master, for removing the sleep bug in me!” I said gratefully in my heart. All of a sudden, my sleepiness was gone. I got up and started to study the Fa, and do the exercises.
A fellow practitioner told me that she also felt lethargic all the time, and would keep yawning while doing the second set of the exercises.
Once, she had a long nap. When she woke up, she found she could not move any part of her body, and it was really uncomfortable. It went on for a long time, so she called Master loudly for help.
Almost instantly, she sat up, and saw a golden-colored sleep bug in her left palm. She realized the cause of her always feeling drowsy when doing the second set of exercises – she was sleeping too much.
After she stopped taking naps at lunchtime, she never felt drowsy again when doing the exercises.
In my case, after the “sleep bug” was removed, I was able to keep a similar daily schedule as other fellow practitioners. Even though I sleep less now, I feel much more energetic than before.
Sleepiness, lethargy, and tiredness only constrain beings within the Three Realms. Humans would feel sleepy if they don’t sleep enough, but not divine beings. We should completely let go of our human notions and do things with more divine thoughts, so that we would not be constrained by “sleep bugs” and would have more time to do the three things well.
