(Minghui.org) A Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, man has been transferred to a local prison to serve a 3.5-year term for his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
It was recently confirmed by Minghui.org that Mr. Huang Boming, 65, was arrested on July 1, 2020, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. He was held in the Lianping County Detention Center. The Lianping County Procuratorate approved his arrest on July 16. The police later submitted his case to the Yuancheng District Procuratorate.
Mr. Huang was sentenced to 3.5 years and fined 4,000 yuan by the Yuancheng District Court in early 2021. He appealed to the Heyuan City Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold his original verdict on August 16, 2021.
The Yuancheng District Procuratorate and Yuancheng District Court have been designated to handle Falun Gong cases in Heyuan City. At least six practitioners have been sentenced by them in recent years, including Ms. Yuan Qunrui, Mr. Wu Hongwei, Ms. Qiu Renying and her sister Ms. Qiu Yuanxiang, Ms. Qiu Hannong, and Ms. Zhang Chunying. In particular, Ms. Yuan was sentenced to eight years and Mr. Wu was given five years.
Prior to his latest sentencing, Mr. Huang served two labor camps terms and a prison term. He was once deprived of sleep for nine days in 2003 in the labor camp. He was sentenced to seven months by the Luohu District Court in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, in December 2015 for talking to people about Falun Gong.
