South Korea: New Practitioners Thankful for the Opportunity to Learn Falun Dafa

(Minghui.org) The Tianti Bookstore in Seoul, South Korea holds free 9-day workshops every month to help the public learn the Falun Dafa exercises and how to cultivate one's heart and mind. Falun Dafa is a meditation practice consisting of spiritual teachings with core principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, and five slow-moving exercises. It was first taught in China in 1992 and is now practiced by people in over 100 countries and areas.

Father and Daughter 

Mr. Cui first heard about Falun Dafa ten years ago. He downloaded the information online and began practicing on his own. He always thought, “One day I will systemically learn it.” He finally got the chance in June 2022, and attended the workshop with his daughter. During the workshop the practitioners corrected his movements when he did the exercises. “After I did the movements correctly, it felt like a loosened screw had been re-tightened. Doing the movements correctly makes me feel more energetic. I thank practitioners for their help.” 

Mr. Cui is a poet and has written over seven thousand poems, which were collected in over 50 books. After he started practicing Falun Dafa, he found it was easier to write poems. He told other poets that now Falun Dafa inspires his poems. 

Before he began practicing Falun Dafa, he did a lot of research on cultivation. “I read a lot of books about Christianity and Buddhism. I couldn’t find answers from any of them, nor did I hear the principles of the universe. I constantly looked for someone to teach me, and that was how I found Falun Dafa,” he said. After reading Zhuan Falun, the book that contains Falun Dafa’s main teachings, he knew he found the answers to the questions he always had. “I felt that I had no regrets in my life. Like Confucius said, ‘If a man hears the Truth in the morning, he can die contented in the evening.’” 

During the next four months Mr. Cui spent eight hours a day every day reading all the articles written by Falun Dafa’s founder. He then began to learn the exercises online. The amazing feeling he had motivated him to urge his daughter to practice. 

Ms. Cui accepted the book Zhuan Falun from her father, and knew that it was a precious gift. “When my father told me that none of the books I ever read can compare to Zhuan Falun, I believed him because I look up to him,” she said. 

She brought the book with her when she went to China for work. Her owning the book surprised all of her Chinese friends because the Chinese regime has persecuted the practice for the past 23 years. One of her friends told her, “The Chinese Communist Party persecutes Falun Dafa not because it was bad, but because it was so wonderful and many people practiced it. The popularity of the practice worried the authorities, and that was why they decided to crack down on it.” Her friends reminded her to be careful.

During the 9-day workshop, Ms. Cui experienced many changes and said, “I knew the superficial meanings of the words, Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Now I constantly ponder how I can apply these principles in my everyday life. When I do the exercises, my body heats up like a stream of electricity is passing through. Every day I felt that there was something hurting me, either my leg or my stomach or elsewhere. But the next day when I came back to the workshop, the pain would disappear and I felt quite relaxed. It was an amazing experience.” 

Mother and Daughter 

Ms. Pu suffered migraine headaches and routinely went to the hospital. The hospital director suggested she try practicing Falun Dafa, and that was why she attended the workshop. On the ninth day Ms. Pu had a big smile on her face, “My health is poor and I easily get tired. The fact that I did not miss a day of class makes me feel excited.” 

Her daughter Ms. Song is in the military and came with her during her break. She explained military life in the past seven years drained her physically and mentally. “I didn’t know much about Falun Dafa before I decided to come with my mother. My mindset was negative and I used to have a lot of bad thoughts. I was able to suppress them when I came here, and it felt really nice. I also was able to calm down,” she said, “I want to practice (Falun Dafa) with my mother from now on.”

Stomach Pain Is Gone 

Ms. Li from Vietnam heard about Falun Dafa years ago, but did not think about practicing. Last December she went to the emergency room for acute stomach pain. After repeated visits and checkups, the doctors still couldn’t determine what caused the pain. Ms. Li remembered Falun Dafa, and decided to give it a try. 

Her younger sister taught her how to do the exercises. Ms. Li said, “The first time I did the exercises, I sweat profusely. My sister told me not to worry and encouraged me to continue. I listened to her, and now I have a healthy body and a sound mind.” 

Ms. Jin suffered leg problems. She knew about the healing effects of Falun Dafa before she came to the workshop. “I believe that only Falun Dafa can help improve me physically and mentally. I especially like the fact that the practice can improve a person’s character. Now that I’ve learned how to practice, I must practice seriously,” said Ms. Jin.

The Tianti Bookstore in Seoul holds nine-day Falun Dafa workshops once every month. Each workshop lasts nine consecutive days, with options for either morning or evening classes. 

Morning classes are from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, while evening classes are from 7:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The workshop is always free of charge.
