(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Zhang Xiangyun was arrested and taken to a detention center on January 26, 2022 for distributing information about Falun Gong. Her case has now been submitted to the court and she may soon face trial.
Ms. Gong Lina, Ms. He Xiaodan, and Ms. Wang Ying were arrested on the evening of May 12, 2022, and their homes were ransacked. It was learned that they were to be quarantined for 14 days in Linghai and then taken to Yi County.
Ms. Chen Jun was arrested at her workplace, Xiangtan TV University, on April 20, 2022. She was first taken to the Yuhu Police Station, then to the Xiangtan Police Department. Three officers including Dai Zhen, head of the police station, interrogated her. Ms. Chen refused to cooperate. She was taken back to the Yuhu Police Station in the evening. She refused to sign a guarantee statement. She was released around 11 p.m. that night.
Ms. Ding Guohong and Ms. Xia Xiaofen from the Jianghan Oilfield, both over 70 years old, were reported to police for distributing information about how to stay safe during the pandemic and were arrested by officers from the Wuqi Police Station on May 18, 2022, and their homes were ransacked. The police confiscated two media players, their Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and other belongings. The two practitioners were forced to sit on metal chairs in the police station from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and were threatened with detention. They were released at around 6 p.m. that day.
In the following days the police officers and the staff members from the local neighborhood committee kept harassing them.
Mr. Zhou Chunbao, a deputy of the Guan County Taxation Bureau, was arrested on May 15, 2022. Some Falun Gong materials were found in his home. Mr. Zhou was interrogated several times and was deprived of sleep for three days and three nights. He is now detained in Linqing Hospital.
The head of the Guan County Taxation Bureau went to the police station on the day Mr. Zhou was arrested and told Mr. Zhou to resign. The resignation date on the paperwork was predated May 12, 2022.
Ms. Zhai Qiaofang lives in Nanmozhuang Village, Donggucheng Town. She was called back home from the field by two officers and one village guard at around 10 a.m. on May 13, 2022. More than ten people from the town police stations were at her home. They confiscated three photos of Falun Gong’s founder and tore down a poster (because it had information about Falun Gong).
Ms. Wang Yin’e lives in Shihu Village, Fuping Town, Fuping County. Two officers from the Fuping County Police Department, along with village officials, went to her home on May 16, 2022. They searched her home thoroughly and confiscated all of her Falun Gong books. After Ms. Wang insisted, two books were not taken.
Ms. Wang Chengfen lives in Zhaowangtai Village, Fuping Town, Fuping County. Two officers from the Fuping County Police Department went to her home one day in May 2022. They searched it and found several truth-clarifying materials. Ms. Wang was taken to the police department. She refused to cooperate and remained silent during the interrogation. She was released later that day.
Ms. Zhang Junfang, 70, and Mr. Yang Zemin, 72, were arrested at home by officers from the Heping Street Police Station at around 6 p.m. on May 25, 2022. They were taken to the police station for interrogation. They kept clarifying the truth to the officers until they were released home at around midnight.
Mr. Jiang Chaolin, 80, was arrested by plainclothes officers when he was distributing truth-clarifying materials in a residential community in Baiyun District on the evening of May 13, 2022. He was first interrogated at the police station, but was later taken to his home. The police ransacked his home.
Mr. Jiang was taken to two hospitals for medical examinations on May 14 and 15. He was denied admission by the detention center because of his high blood pressure and heart problem. He was released on the evening of May 15, 2022.
Mr. Wang Hongbin, 52, was taken to a forced labor camp in 1999 and then sentenced to a ten-year prison term, from 2002 and 2012. He was sentenced to nine years in prison on May 4, 2016 and was detained in the No. 7 Ward of Hulan Prison. Recently his blood pressure was as high as 280 to 300. His family is now trying to get him released on medical parole.
The children of many practitioners were recently harassed in Sizhilan Town and its affiliated villages by officers from the town police station, including five people in Sanzhilan Village and twenty people in Sizhilan Village. They are the children of those who were known to practice Falun Gong before July 1999. They were called to the police station and pressured to sign guarantee statements, promising not to practice Falun Gong. Each one was requested to find at least five guarantors.
