(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 16 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
After Mr. Chu Liwen of Taibaozhuang Village, Xiashan District, was persecuted to death, Qu Yuezhong of the Xiashan District Domestic Security Division ordered Taibaozhuang police to file charges against his son, Mr. Chu Qinghua, with the procuratorate. Mr. Chu’s home business was forced to close. Taibaozhuang Police Station officers ordered his neighbors, Xu Liping and his wife, to monitor him. He had to leave home to avoid further persecution.
Mr. Gao Peng of the Qiujiahe Village, Changle County, filed an appeal with the Weifang Intermediate Court through the Qingzhou Court on April 14, 2022. He Dayong of the No. 1 Criminal Court is the judge assigned to the case.
Ms. Yu Shuqing of Wukeshu Town distributed Falun Gong flyers in a community on the afternoon of May 19, 2022. Someone reported her and she was arrested. It was said that she was being held in the Zhengyang Police Station in Yushu City.
Ms. Xu Huiling was arrested at home at 5:00 a.m. on May 17, 2022. Police ransacked her home and seized many items, including her computer, cell phone, Falun Gong books and materials. The officers drove her to a hospital for a detention center entry physical exam and threatened to take her to Harbin City for detention. They called her son and told him to pay 50,000 yuan in “bail” money. They said she would be tried in court in Yilan County.
After her son paid them 50,000 yuan, she was released at 10:00 p.m.
Mr. Pan Zhengfan, about 58, was arrested and taken to the Jilin City Detention Center in January 2022.
Ms. Jia Guifen, 57, of Fengrun District, babysat for her son in the Binhai New District. Seven or eight officers from the Binhai New District Police Station, led by director Ren Ercai, broke into her son’s home at around 11:00 a.m. on May 15, 2022. The officers said someone reported her and ordered her to tell them where she got the Falun Gong materials. She refused to comply. The officers took her and her three-year-old grandson to the police station. They also seized her ten copies of Falun Gong books, printouts of recent lectures given by Falun Gong’s founder, more than 50 Falun Gong flyers, 39 gourd decorations with Falun Gong messages on them, and two memory sticks.
She was given five days of detention, but was released after 24 hours because of the COVID pandemic.
Mr. Ma Guobiao of Jiading District was arrested on May 21, 2022. Officers broke into his home, ransacked the place, and seized numerous items in the afternoon. He was released in the evening.
Mr. Long Jiamu’s home in the countryside was ransacked by officers from the Shuangshi Town Police Station at 2:00 p.m. on April 24, 2022. The officers seized numerous copies of Minghui Weekly and his copy of Zhuan Falun.
The officers then went to ransack his home in Shuangshi Town. They seized a picture of the founder of Falun Gong. He grabbed it back, but his wife took it and destroyed it.
They took him to the police station, asked him where he got the book and the picture, and ordered him to sign a document. He refused. He was released after 4:00 p.m.
Chen Hanshou (gender unknown) distributed cards in the Yuquan Food Market on May 20, 2022 with information on how to bypass the CCP’s Internet censorship. Chen was arrested by plainclothes officers and uniformed officers, and was released around 8:30 p.m. Chen’s home was ransacked the same day.
Mr. Yu Dekai and Ms. Sun Guixiang were arrested at home by officers from the Dawulan Town Police Station and a village committee member at noon on May 18, 2022. As detention centers will not take new inmates due to the pandemic, they were released on May 20.
Ms. Liu Yaqin of Qingshankou Village was harassed at home the same day. The officers photographed her and threatened her family.
Ms. Li Shaorong, 74, talked to a man in his twenties (a plainclothes officer) about the persecution of Falun Gong after 10:00 a.m. on March 12, 2022. Ms. Li Fenglan, 81, passed by. Two police cars came. The officers arrested both practitioners and took them to the Lanxi County Police Department. The officers had them sit on metal chairs, photographed them, videotaped them, and searched them.
Around 2:00 p.m. the officers took Ms. Li Shaorong to her home, ransacked the place, and seized a copy of Zhuan Falun and two calendars with Falun Gong messages printed on them. She was taken back to the police department. The practitioners were forced to sign and fingerprint five or six already printed papers.
After 4:00 p.m. the officers took the practitioners home. The officers ransacked Ms. Li Fenglan’s home, seized more than ten copies of Falun Gong books, six or seven audio systems, and other items.
Ms. Zhang Yazhen, in her 70s, was arrested by the head of the local Domestic Security Division Li Yuchen and two officers on March 30, 2022, after someone photographed her when she talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong and reported her. She was taken to the police department. Officers had her sit on a metal chair, photographed her, videotaped her, and searched her. They demanded to know her home address, and had her sign and fingerprint five or six already printed papers. They took her home and seized a copy of Zhuan Falun from her home.
