(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 36 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Yu Lanfang’s daughter received a call from the Criminal Court of Wujiang District Court in Suzhou City, Zhejiang Province, on the morning of May 31, 2022, and was told that Ms. Yu would be tried at 1:30 p.m. on June 14.
Ms. Yu was staying at her daughter’s home in Mudu Town, Wuzhong District, Suzhou City, to take care of her grandchild. On the morning of January 28, 2021, she was arrested at her daughter’s home by officers from the Fengqiao Police Station in the High-tech Zone, Suzhou City. She was held in custody for 36 days and released on bail.
Shi Kexin (gender unknown) was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong on May 23, 2022. Shi was arrested by officers from the Tielu Police Station in the Beidaihe New Area. The officers ransacked Shi’s home and confiscated Falun Gong books, and a printer. It was reported that Shi is being held in the Qinhuangdao Public Security Hospital.
On May 24, 2022, officer Qin from the Sandongqiao Police Station in Huanggu District called Ms. Yu Yanju’s husband, and asked if his wife was in China and when she would return. Ms. Yu’s husband was stressed out by the police harassment.
On May 7, 2021, officers called Ms. Yu’s husband. They used removing Ms. Yu from the CCP’s blacklist as bait and asked her to write a guarantee statement to renounce her belief. Ms. Yu’s husband said that his wife was not currently in China. The officers still insisted on coming to his home for a visit. Ms. Yu’s husband was worried that his 80-year-old cancer-stricken father would be frightened, so he agreed to meet the officers at the police station the following day.
In the police station, the officers asked Ms. Yu’s husband for personal information, including Ms. Yu’s mobile phone number and residential address, and took detailed notes. After returning home that day, Ms. Yu’s husband suffered heart problems and his blood pressure was high. Two days later, he suffered sudden loss of hearing and was hospitalized.
On May 27, 2021, while Ms. Yu’s husband was treated in the hospital, he was again harassed by the officers over the phone. They asked him for more personal information about his wife.
Over 10 officers from the Guan County Domestic Security Division and the Ganguantun Town Police Station went to ransack Ms. Xu Xiulian’s home in Wangerzhai Village on the afternoon of May 20, 2022. They confiscated a photo of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Gong books, a computer, and printed materials. The officers also threatened to arrest her. Her family was frightened, and their lives were disrupted. Ms. Xu had to leave to avoid further harassment and has not been able to return home.
Mr. Wang Zhigang was reported to the police on March 30, 2022, for talking to people about Falun Gong and distributing Falun Gong materials. He was arrested by officers from the Xishui County Domestic Security Division. He taken to the Yingshan County Prison and then to Xishui County Prison.
The officers ransacked Mr. Wang’s home many times. They confiscated Mr. Wang’s personal items for operating his home appliance repair and merchandise business, including computers, appliances, and other products in his inventory.
Four officers from the Gudi Police Station in Hanting District ransacked Mr. Liu Ming’s home in Xingjia Village at 4 p.m. on May 15, 2022. They confiscated two Falun Gong books, two photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and a sound player. They kept pressuring Mr. Liu to stop practicing, but he refused to cooperate with them.
Jiang, 89, from the Huancui District, was reported to the police for talking to a couple about Falun Gong at the Yanjiazhuang farmers market on May 20, 2022. Two officers arrested Jiang. In the Songshan Police Station, the officers took Jiang’s cell phone and keys. They also took fingerprints and blood samples.
The officers asked Jiang’s family to take Jiang home around 3 p.m. Upon returning to his/her rented home, Jiang noticed that the place had been ransacked. Falun Gong books, desk and wall calendars were all gone. The couplet posted on the door at the beginning of Chinese New Year was also torn up. The following day, local neighborhood committee staff members pressured the landlord to terminate the lease, and elderly Jiang had to move out within two days.
Elderly Ms. Li Yuying was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong in May 2021. She was arrested by officers from the Xianglujiao Police Station. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books.
The officers called her family to the police station, threatened them, and coerced them into signing paperwork. They took a deposit of 5,000 yuan from her family before releasing her on bail at 10 p.m. that night.
In April 2022, the officers called Ms. Li’s son and told him she had to sign paperwork in order to get the deposit back. Ms. Li went to the police station. The officers did not return the deposit to her, but instead took her to the procuratorate. They continued to pressure her to sign paperwork. She refused to cooperate and went home.
In May, the officers repeatedly called and threatened to arrest her and sentence her if she did not cooperate and sign her name.
Ms. Zhang Liqin and Ms. Huang Xiufen from the Xianghe Residential Community, Dagang Oilfield, were taken to the Hongqi Road Police Station for interrogation and to transcribe their statements around 1 p.m. on May 12, 2022. The two practitioners’ Falun Gong books that were in their homes were confiscated. They were released separately and both returned home after 6 p.m.
When five police officers broke into their home that day, Ms. Zhang and her husband were taking a rest after lunch. Three officers were male, and two were female. They ordered Ms. Zhang’s husband to open all the cabinets. They searched each cabinet, and then arrested Ms. Zhang.
At around 1:30 p.m. that day, eight officers went to Ms. Huang Xiufen’s home in the same community. They confiscated Ms. Huang’s Falun Gong books, a photo of the founder of Falun Gong, and a computer. Ms. Huang was also taken to the Hongqi Road Police Station for questioning.
On June 1, two officers went to Ms. Huang’s home with a detention warrant and told her to sign it. It was stated in the warrant that she would be detained for 15 days for using “propaganda materials to promote a certain religion.” There was also a piece of paper for Ms. Huang’s daughter to sign. Ms. Huang refused to sign it, and the two officers left.
Officers from the Hebeitun Township Police Station in Wuqing District went to Ms. Yao Zhifeng’s home in Xiaoyangzhuang Village on the morning of May 30, 2022, and arrested her without showing any documents. They threatened her family. Ms. Yao was interrogated and released at 3:30 p.m. that afternoon.
When the officers from the Daliang Police Station ransacked Ms. Yao’s home in 2018, they got hold of a printed copy of an experience sharing manuscript. This time the officers wanted to locate the person who printed the manuscript for her. Ms. Yao told them that it was her grandson who had passed away, that helped her print it.
Several officers from the Chengnan Police Station in Yingshan County broke into Ms. Zhou Yuanzhen’s home on May 29, 2022. They confiscated all her Falun Gong books and all the items for practicing Falun Gong exercises. The officers took her to the police station, completed the process of release on bail, and released her.
Ms. Li Maosheng from Lijiazhuang Village, Tangwu Town, was arrested at home by officers from the Changle County Domestic Security Division on May 25, 2022. The officers ransacked her home. Mr. Li was released the following day.
Ms. Liu Ying and Ms. Lin Haixia were reported to the police for handing out a “May Peace Be With You” booklet to someone on the street between 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on May 27, 2022. They were arrested by officers from the Silian Street Police Station. The officers ransacked Ms. Lin’s home and confiscated a photo of the founder of Falun Gong, a Falun diagram, and Falun Gong books. The officers failed to open the door at Ms. Liu’s home. They interrogated and photographed the two practitioners. Both practitioners were released around 9:50 p.m. that night.
Mr. Cen Xuedong, in his 70s, has recently been transferred to the Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang County.
His family members went to the Huangshi City No. 1 Detention Center in mid-May to deposit money to cover his living expenses, and were told that he had been transferred to Fanjiatai Prison. Mr. Cen was given an 18-month term and fined 6,000 yuan. He was arrested in August last year and his sentence will end in November 2022.
Officers from the Pingfang District Domestic Security Division ransacked two practitioners’ homes around 1 p.m. on May 24, 2022.
This took place after the police arrested seven practitioners in the district. Officers went to Ms. Zheng Lijun’s home, but she was not at home at the time. They called her sister and told her cooperate with them when they ransacked the place. At the same time, police officers ransacked Ms. Ge Xiaojing’s home wearing law enforcement recorders. They confiscated most of her Falun Gong books.
On May 28, the officers told the son of Mr. Cui Jinshi (who had passed away as a result of being persecuted) that he was not allowed to go to his father’s old home, and threatened to seal it off. On May 29, the officers called the family again and asked them to open the door of Mr. Cui’s room. They videotaped it but did not allow the family to go inside.
It was reported that Ms. Fu Shuxian and Mr. Niu Jiahui were sentenced to prison. They are being held in prison.
Ms. Xu Changlan, 72, is from Ganjingzi District. Her sentence will end on July 4, 2022.
Ms. Xu was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong and distributing Falun Gong materials on July 4, 2019. She was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from the Ganjingzi Street Police Station. She was sentenced to three years in prison by the Ganjingzi District Court.
Around 8 p.m. in mid-May 2022, a police officer and a community management office staff member went to the home of Ms. Lu Lihua, 70, to photograph her. They also repeatedly phoned and harassed her family.
At 5 p.m. on May 31, two officers from the Wujialing Police Station went to Ms. Lu’s home and photographed her. On a previous occasion, they asked her to sign a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Gong, which she refused.
Staff members from the Jiangjialong Community Management Office knocked on the door of Ms. Peng Chunliang, who was in her 80s. Ms. Peng did not open the door and these people left.
Ms. Yu Guorong and Ms. Cao Rui were reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials on May 9, 2022. They were arrested by officers from a nearby police station.
The two practitioners were held in custody for 11 hours and were not released until 8 p.m. that evening. Meanwhile, Liu Qiang, deputy head of Hulin City Domestic Security Division, led four or five officers and a locksmith to Ms. Yu’s home. They unlocked the door and ransacked the place.
Ms. Ji Shuxian from the Shanhaiguan District was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong around 9 a.m. on May 27, 2022. She was arrested and taken to the Nanguan Police Station for interrogation. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated seven Falun Gong books. Ms. Ji was released around 3 p.m. that day.
Ms. Yan Zhenxiang went to the Yanqiao Village Committee to clarify the truth about the persecution on May 27, 2022. Afterwards village committee staff members, Sanjianghangtian New Village Community Management Office personnel, and police officers went to the home of an elderly lady in Sanjianghangtian New Village. The officers arrested Ms. Yan who was taking care of the elderly lady.
Mr. Wang Xiuguo was arrested on May 30, 2022. He was taken to a detention center on May 31. Further information is pending.
A practitioner was arrested at Xinhua Market on the morning of May 29.
Ms. Sun Jing was arrested and her home was ransacked after May 29. Her son went to demand her release, but the police did not tell him where his mother was. Further information is pending.
Ms. Zhao Peizhou was arrested for sending truth-clarification text messages.
Officers from the Jiangmifeng Town Police Station in Longtan District harassed Ms. Fu Junqiu on May 31, 2022. They asked villagers to call Ms. Fu’s family to find out where Ms. Fu was living and what her phone number was. Ms. Fu’s family refused to give out her personal information.
