(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 34 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. You Xuefei, in her 60s, is a family member of a teacher who works at the No. 2 Yuanlin Middle School. After a student reported her to the police, officers from the Yuanlin Police Station arrested her at the end of 2021. She was detained for about one week.
Shortly after Ms. You’s release, the local police arrested her again and ransacked her home. She has been held in the Qianjiang City Detention Center. The police turned her case over to the procuratorate, where it is under review for prosecution.
Ms. Lu Guohua, in her 70s, from the Suzhou Industrial Park, was arrested on the morning of February 7, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked and she was released on bail. Ms. Lu was tried by the Wujiang District Court on the afternoon of January 12, 2021.
On May 25, 2021, the Wujiang District Court sentenced Ms. Lu to two years and six months in prison with three years of probation, and fined her 2,000 yuan.
On the morning of May 16, 2022, the Kunming Intermediate Court reviewed the appeal of Ms. Wang Fengying’s case. She was called to the courtroom. Presiding judge Zhang Chongkai and clerk Yao Yao were the only people in the courtroom.
On April 23, 2022, Ms. Wang was sentenced to one year and six months in prison and fined 5,000 yuan by the Xishan District Court. She stated clearly that she was not guilty, refused to accept the verdict and said she would file an appeal.
Over 10 officers from the Ganguantun Police Station went to the home of Fan Yubo (gender unknown) on May 13, 2022. They climbed through a window to break in, and searched the place as soon as they got in. They even searched the pigsty, sheep-sty, and toilet. They confiscated several New Year’s paintings, and tore up couplets.
Afterwards, they harassed Yang Jibo (gender unknown) who lives in the same village. They rummaged through drawers, cabinets, and under the bed. The officers confiscated eight Falun Gong books, a sound player, a photo of the founder of Falun Gong, and paper bills with information about Falun Gong written on them. They also tore up couplets.
Officers from the Qingshui Police Station harassed Zhang Dayun on May 13, 2022. They threatened Zhang not to practice Falun Gong.
Around 12 p.m. on May 13, officers from the Sang’a Town Police Station broke into Ms. Wang Jinxia’s home and confiscated her Falun Gong books.
Officers from the Liangtang Township Police Station broke into Mr. Du Zhanchao’s home at noon on May 13, 2022. They ransacked the place and confiscated his Falun Gong books. Afterwards, they went to Mr. Li Liangtang’s and Mr. Li Zengying’s homes. These officers confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and tore up the couplets on the doors.
More than 10 officers from the Guan County Police Department climbed over the walls of Mr. Li Hailiang’s home and confiscated his Falun Gong books, a photo of the founder of Falun Gong, and over 3,000 yuan in cash.
From early May through mid-May 2022, officers from the Xinhua Police Station, Fuyu County, harassed practitioners who sued Jiang Zemin, former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) head who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong. They pressured the practitioners to sign documents, press their fingerprints on documents, and write guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong.
Practitioners known to have been harassed include: Meng Fengying, Yang Junfeng, Tang Ying, Li Xiuzhi, and Cai Weicheng.
Mr. Chen Yinru visited relatives in Yancheng City, his hometown. He was caught on surveillance cameras while distributing Falun Gong materials. He was arrested in the early morning on May 19, 2022.
Ms. Bao Lingling from Tangaoli Village, Xinhe Town, and Ms. Jin Ping and Ms. Wang Mei from Zeguo Town were arrested on November 30, 2021. The three practitioners have been held in the Wenling City Detention Center.
On the morning of May 19, 2022, five people, including Yin Shunyao from the Xinjin Brainwashing Center and Qinglong Community Management Office staff members, went to Ms. Du Fengqin’s home. Yin gave a talk and harassed Ms. Du. He took pictures of her and left.
Ms. Wu Xi has remained in custody at the Harbin City No. 2 Detention Center.
Mr. Xu Wenlong was arrested by officers from the Zhiyuan Police Station in the Lixia District while distributing Falun Gong materials near the police station around 9 p.m. on April 6, 2022. They cuffed Mr. Xu’s hands behind his back that night and wrapped a chain around his hands. He remained in handcuffs and chains until he was released on bail the following afternoon.
Ms. Zhou Jirong’s home in Yubei District was again ransacked around 9 a.m. on April 24, 2022. Officers from the Domestic Security Division called her son that evening and demanded that she go to the police station the following day.
On April 25, after Ms. Zhou went to the police station, where she was questioned. They also drew blood samples from her, measured her height and body, and photographed her. She was taken to the hospital for nucleic acid testing and her blood pressure was measured. Her readings remained as high as 140 to 150 mmHg.
Ms. Zhou was held overnight at the police station and then detained for 10 days. During her detention, the police threatened to sentence her to several years in prison.
Mr. Li Shuang from Lizhuang Village was harassed and taken to the Xianfeng Road Sub-district Administration Office on May 13, 2022. His older sister Ms. Li Xia and his wife went to visit him. Ms. Li was called to the office and held there for several hours. Both Mr. Li and his sister returned home that day.
Ms. Hu Yuexia, Ms. Niu Huifang, and another practitioner with the last name Niu were arrested while talking to people about Falun Gong at the Shangzhuang Town farmers market on the morning of May 18, 2022.
The police ransacked Ms. Hu’s home around noon, and ransacked Ms. Niu’s home around 3 p.m.
On May 12, 2022, Zheng Wei, from the Yaohai Police Department, and five or six people from the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the Dongqi Sub-district Administration Office, and the neighborhood committee knocked on the door at Ms. Xu Shengying’s home. When Ms. Xu did not open it, they had someone pick the lock and replace it with a new lock. They confiscated a photo of the founder of Falun Gong, and took Ms. Xu to the Huachong Police Station. She was released two hours later.
Ms. He Changqin and Ms. Pei Ling were also harassed at home. These police visits have pressured Ms. He, Ms. Pei, and their families.
Ms. Wang Caiying and another practitioner were arrested by officers from the Longfeng Police Station at the Cigou farmers market, Dongzhou District, on May 17, 2022. Both practitioners have returned home safely.
