(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 34 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Luo Yuanying and Ms. Huang Hongwei were scheduled to be tried by the Hanyang District Court on May 19, 2022. The public, even the practitioners’ families, will not be allowed to observe the trial.
Ms. Zhang Guozhen of Meng County was arrested on the morning of May 17, 2022.
Ms. He Xia, Ms. Wang Yuemin, Ms. Cao Hongmei, Ms. Cui Shumei, Qi Luxin (gender unknown), Ms. Lu Na, and Ms. Liao Xiaoyan were arrested by officers from Li County SWAT and Domestic Security Division after 9:00 p.m. on May 15, 2022, when they were reading Falun Gong books together. Their books and personal items were confiscated. Their families went to the police department the next day and appealed for their release, but guards stopped them at the gate.
The practitioners were released on the afternoon of May 17. Ms. He was released on bail.
Ms. Liu Yuzhen and Ms. Han (first name unknown) were arrested. They are being held in the Gaotai Detention Center.
Mr. Xie Wanmeng is imprisoned in the Sihui Prison. His family recently received a phone call from him. It was the first contact since their last visit in November 2021. He said he got special permission to make this call because he needed to ask them to pay a 5,000 yuan “fine”. If it was not paid, he would be under some restrictions, such as his monthly shopping would be limited to 100 yuan. Topics other than the “fine” were off-limits. The phone call lasted less than four minutes.
Ms. Liu Daju and Ms. Li Yurong were harassed by officers from the Jinhaozhuang Town Police Station, Linqing City, on May 13, 2022. The officers seized their Falun Gong books and other items.
On May 13, 2022, officers from the Donggucheng Town Police Station, Guan County, went to the home of each practitioner in Chenjing Village. They seized the practitioners’ properties, and photographed, and videotaped them. A group knocked on Ms. Zhou Huaiju’s door in the morning. The place was quiet and no one answered the door. Six officers went back in the evening, and photographed and videotaped them. They seized several pictures of Falun Gong’s founder, and tore down all the couplets posted on her doors.
Another practitioner’s home was ransacked around 8:00 p.m. while no one was at home. Officers stole over 50 copies of Falun Gong books, a copy of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, and a picture of Falun Gong’s founder. They called the practitioner and ordered him/her to report to the police station.
Officers of the Qingshui Town Police Station and village committee member Cao Jianmin went to harass Ms. Du Yumei and Ms. Yao Fenglan at home at noon on May 13, 2022. Ms. Yao was not at home. They threatened her family and said their children would be banned from school if she kept practicing. They also seized a picture of Falun Gong’s founder and several Falun Gong flyers.
In Nianzhuang Village, Donggucheng Town, Guan County, a box of Falun Gong books and a picture of Falun Gong’s founder were seized from Mr. Yan Shu’an’s home.
In Zhentuan Village, Donggucheng Town, Guan County, Falun Gong books and a picture of Falun Gong’s founder were seized from Xia’s home (family name unknown).
In Xinzhuang Village, Donggucheng Town, Guan County, a picture of Falun Gong’s founder was seized from the home of Ms. Xianglian (family name unknown).
In Chenjing Village, Donggucheng Town, Guan County, a full set of Falun Gong books and a picture of Falun Gong’s founder were seized from the home of Ms. Sanfang (family name unknown). A picture of Falun Gong’s founder was seized from the home of Ms. Lianzhi (family name unknown).
Mr. Wu Dexiu of Songjiang Town was arrested in his apartment by officers from the Minzhujie Police Station. They put him under house arrest. Officers were stationed there 24 hours a day.
Ms. Deng Xiaoxia, 60, of Sanli Town, Lantian County, was arrested at home by officers from the local police station on May 12, 2022. Before this, officers harassed multiple local practitioners at home, collected their fingerprints, etc.
Ms. Wang Xiuying, nearly 80, of Luyang District, was sentenced to seven months in prison in December 2020. Because of her poor health she was not imprisoned. She was re-sentenced to seven months of probation.
Ms. Ding Shufen was arrested by officers from the Chunchengdajie Police Station on November 25, 2021. She was taken to the Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center on November 26, 2021.
Ms. Wang Caiyun and Song (first name and gender unknown) were arrested in the Qiangou Open Market by officers from the Longfeng Police Station on May 17, 2022. Ms. Wang’s home was ransacked.
Mr. Liu Changfun and his wife Ms. Hu Qinglan were arrested. Their family appealed to police for their release. They learned that Mr. Liu was being held in the Fusong County Detention Center. As the center did not have female cells, Ms. Hu was taken to the Baishan City Detention Center. Because of pandemic, the center did not admit any new inmates. She was being held in the Fusong Town Police Station.
Ms. Sun (first name unknown) was harassed at home by two officers from the Chang’an Police Station on the morning of May 13, 2022. The officers seized two Falun Gong books and some Falun Gong materials.
Ms. Xia Guiying, 76, of Huaxian New Village, Qixia District, was repeatedly stalked by police. She was arrested at home by officers from the Qixia Police Department and the Maigaoqiao Police Station on September 8, 2021. The officers ransacked her home, and seized her computer, printer, cash, and other items. They threatened her and held her for 48 hours. She was frightened and stressed. She became sick and passed away on October 23, 2021.
