(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 43 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
A second trial was scheduled to be held against Ms. Wang Meiying, who is from Hengshan County, Hunan Province, on April 1, 2022 in the Guangzhou City Intermediate Court.
Ms. Wang was arrested at her home in Hengshan County on September 8, 2020 by Li Pu, the head of the 610 Office in the Hengshan County Police Department, and officers from the Panyu Police Department in Guangzhou City. Her arrest was officially approved on October 15, 2020 and she has been held in the Shawan Detention Center in Guangzhou City.
Her case was submitted to the Haizhu District Procuratorate in Guangzhou City in November 2020, and then passed on to the Haizhu District Court in Guangzhou City on January 28, 2021.
Ms. Wang was sentenced to 4 years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan on November 18, 2021 by the Haizhu District Court. Ms. Wang appealed the verdict to the Guangdong Provincial High Court and the Guangzhou City Intermediate Court.
Ms. Wang Shujuan was arrested at the Jinzhou Train Station on March 8, 2022. She is being held in the Jinzhou City Women’s Prison.
Ms. Yan Shufang’s pension for December, 2021 was withheld without grounds. Thirty-four other practitioners’ pension were also withheld or reduced. Among them are Mr. Pang Zengde, Ms. Zhang Shuhua and Ms. Wang Shumei.
Five practitioners from Chongli District were arrested just before 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. They were held for 15 days and then released.
Ms. Liu Huiping was arrested on February 24, 2022 on her way back home after leaving her sister’s place. She was body searched and found carrying a few banknotes and two amulets with information about Falun Gong written on them. Her home was subsequently ransacked. She was held for 15 days and then released.
Mr. Huang Zhengui was arrested on his way to visit his elderly mother in Shanxi Province around March 24, 2022. He is being held in the Zhangjiakou City Detention Center for a term of 15 days.
Officers from the Shuangshan No.1 Police Station went to Mr. Zhang Chuanyong’s workplace and interrogated him on March 29, 2022. They asked him who posted information on the Internet about last July’s attempts to send him to a brainwashing center. They ordered Mr. Zhang to go to the police station the next day at 9 a.m.
After Ms. Nie Jing served her term and returned to Jingzhou City on March 23, 2022. She was forced to go into quarantine at a hotel for 15 days because of the pandemic. The quarantine will be over on April 6.
Ms. Liu Xiufen from Weifang City has been living in Shanghai, helping her son take care of her grandchild. It was recently learned that she was reported to police and arrested by officers from the Gaoxing Police Station for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in April of 2020. Her son’s home was ransacked. She was taken to the Pudong Detention Center. Her case was heard in the Fengxian Court and she was sentenced to 9 months in prison and fined 2,000 yuan. Her son spent 40,000 yuan to hire a lawyer for her. The persecution caused tremendous stress and financial loss to her son’s family.
Mr. Cai Huaxing’s family recently received a notice from the Baiyun Police Department, saying that they arrested him on March 22, 2022 because he practices Falun Gong.
Mr. Cai is being held in the Baiyun District Detention Center.
