Henan Woman Sentenced to Four Years After Three Years of Displacement to Avoid Persecution for Her Faith

(Minghui.org) It has recently been confirmed by Minghui.org that a Xinyang City, Henan Province resident was sentenced to four years in early 2021 for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Huang Xiaobo’s sentencing came a few months after she was arrested following three years of displacement to avoid the persecution. 

Ms. Huang, 55, took up Falun Gong before the persecution started. Over the years, she remained firm in her faith and persevered in raising awareness about the persecution, only to be repeatedly targeted by the authorities. 

Ms. Huang was first arrested on January 7, 2004 and detained. She was arrested again on October 25 in the same year and held in a brainwashing center. 

Her next arrest was on August 26, 2009 by over ten officers. She was held at the Xinyang City No. 1 Detention Center. 

While she was working as a general manager for a small business, on November 28, 2012, the police arrested her again and held her at the Xinyang City No. 1 Detention Center. Her daughter, who had just started high school two months prior, was traumatized by her arrest.

At the detention center, the guards handcuffed Ms. Huang and hung her up by the wrists to the top window frame, with her feet barely touching the ground. She was also forced to do unpaid labor for long hours each day. The toxic materials she worked with caused severe damage to her health.

When Ms. Huang was released on December 18, 2014, after over two years of detention, her daughter could hardly recognize her: her hair had turned gray, her teeth had fallen out, and her face was thin and drawn.

The police attempted to arrest Ms. Huang again in March 2017 upon finding out that she distributed informational materials about Falun Gong. After she was forced to live away from home to hide from the police, they constantly went to her home and workplace to look for her. Even her mother and mother-in-law’s homes weren’t spared. Her husband was also arrested and interrogated. 

After three and a half years of living in displacement, Ms. Huang was arrested on September 12, 2020 in Zhumadian City, about 75 miles from Xinyang, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was held in the Zhumadian City Detention Center and sentenced to 4 years by the Yicheng District Court in Zhumadian in early 2021.
