(Minghui.org) Li Quan was a police officer in Longbei Community of Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to suppress Falun Gong in 1999, Li actively followed the persecution policy to harass, arrest, and detain local practitioners. He was directly responsible for sending six practitioners to labor camps, one to jail, and nearly twenty to various other detention facilities. Three of the practitioners lost their lives as a result.
Although practitioners kept urging Li to stop blindly following the CCP in harming the innocent, he did not listen. In the end, he died at age 56 of a sudden heart attack in November 2021. Many local practitioners believe that his untimely death is related to his involvement in the persecution. There is an old Chinese saying that “good is rewarded with good, and evil meets with evil.” Articles like this serve as a kind reminder that actions bear consequences. It is very sad that Li lost his life at his prime age. We hope perpetrators like Li stop participating in the persecution and secure a bright future for themselves.
Below are a few select cases of Falun Gong practitioners persecuted by Li.
After Ms. Liu Shujie filed a criminal complaint against former CCP leader Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong, Li arrested her in 2016 and detained her for 15 days. Because she went to Beijing to appeal, Ms. Liu was also arrested by Beijing police and shocked with electric batons. Li picked her up in Beijing and brought her back to Daqing, where he detained her for over a month. In late 2019, Ms. Liu’s health deteriorated and she became emaciated. She died at age 66 on January 28, 2020.
Mr. Suo was from another province and had moved to Longbei years prior. After practitioners filed a criminal complaint against Jiang in 2016, Li often came and harassed Mr. Suo at home. During the “zero-out” campaign between 2018 and 2020, Mr. Suo was very weak and he could not take care of himself. Nonetheless, Li came several times and even pounded on the door while yelling. As a result, Mr. Suo’s condition worsened quickly and the mental stress made him slur gibberish from time to time. He later became bedridden, and unable to speak or recognize people. Several days before Mr. Suo’s death in summer 2020, Li continued coming and harassing him. Mr. Suo was in his 70s when he died.
Ms. Wang also was arrested and detained by Li a couple of times. Once when she called out “Falun Dafa is good” in the police van, Li slapped her in the face. In April 2002, Li arrested her for the fourth time and extorted 2,000 yuan from her. After that, Li sent her to a labor camp to serve a three-year term. After Ms. Wang was released, Li often came to harass her, forcing her to stay away from home.
Ms. Shi was repeatedly arrested and detained and her home was ransacked, for her belief in Falun Gong. One time while Li was taking her to a labor camp, she was rejected admission due to her poor health. A few days later, however, Li came to Ms. Shi’s place at midnight and took her directly to a labor camp. “Finally, I made it happen [sending Ms. Shi to the labor camp],” Li told others. Li later arrested her again and framed her, resulting in her being sentenced to an eight-year prison term. Both Ms. Shi and her family suffered tremendously because of these incidents.
The CCP has committed horrendous crimes in the past several decades by killing innocent Chinese people, wiping out traditional culture, and suppressing human rights in China. The best way forward for people is to sever ties with the regime to avoid sinking with it when the time comes for it to be brought to justice.
