(Minghui.org) Less than two years after Ms. Xu Runye finished serving 3.5 years for her faith in Falun Gong, the Yinchuan City, Ningxia Province resident was sentenced again to 3 years for raising awareness about the persecution of Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been targeted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Xu was arrested on January 16, 2022, after being recorded by a surveillance camera putting up informational posters about Falun Gong. After 13 days at the Yinchuan City Lockup, she was transferred to the Yinchuan City Detention Center.
The Xixia District Court recently handed down her verdict. Details about her trial aren’t clear.
Ms. Xu was previously arrested on November 23, 2016, after being reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. The police beat her and pulled her handcuffs while interrogating her.
Ms. Xu stood trial at the Jinfeng District Court on July 26, 2017, and was sentenced to 3.5 years at the Ningxia Women’s Prison in mid-December that year.
Because she refused to watch videos smearing Falun Gong or recite the prison rules, the guards forced her to stand from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., without allowing her to eat, drink or use the restroom.
The guards also shocked her with electric batons, beat her, and stomped on her feet. Her toenails came off as a result. The inmates were instigated to tear her clothes, pinch her and humiliate her.
For a few days, Ms. Xu didn’t feel like eating. The guards and inmates violently force-fed her, causing her mouth to bleed.
Ms. Xu was released in May 2020, only to be arrested again in January 2022 and sentenced to another three years.
