(Minghui.org) A Yushu City, Jilin Province, woman was sentenced to four years in late December 2021 for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Deng Yuli, 49, took up Falun Gong in 2012. She credits the practice with curing her breast hyperplasia, a heart condition, and other ailments. She was reported on April 22, 2020, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in a village. The police located her through surveillance videos and arrested her the next day. She was held in Xinlixiang Police Station overnight and interrogated.

On April 24, the police transferred her to the Yushu City Police Department. She was held in a room with only a chair and a bench for five days. The police took turns monitoring her and interrogated her again.

They later took Ms. Deng to the Changchun City Detention Center (about 130 miles from Yushu), which refused to admit her, citing the pandemic. The police then took her to the Dehui City Procuratorate (midway between Changchun and Yushu) to fill out some case documents. Afterwards, they brought her to the detention center again, but the guards still refused to take her. The police then released her on bail.

Four officers broke into Ms. Deng’s home at 7 a.m. on November 3, 2020. She ran to her neighbor’s home but was still arrested. The police then took her to the Dehui City Court to fill out more documents about the conditions of her bail. She was allowed to go home later that day.

The police arrested her again on December 29, 2020, and took her to the Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center. The Dehui City Court sentenced her to four years a year later.
