(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 37 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Niu Yongzhou and his wife Ms. Yu Zhen live in Tiechang Town. Their home was ransacked by police on August 9, 2021, and two media players were confiscated.
When Mr. Niu went to the police station on the morning of August 11, 2021, to clarify the truth he was arrested. He was taken to the No. 3 People’s Hospital to undergo a physical examination and then taken to the Tonghua City Detention Center. He was denied admission due to his physical condition and released that evening.
Mr. Wang Fuguo, in his 40s, lives in Shuitang Village, Miyi County. He was arrested by police in May 2021 and taken to the Yanbian Detention Center the next day. He was later transferred to the Wanyaoshu Detention Center in Panzhihua City. Mr. Wang was sentenced to ten months in prison in June 2021. He is still being detained in the Wanyaoshu Detention Center.
The case against Ms. Wang Haimin was submitted to the Aihui District Court on July 9, 2021. The court changed her residential surveillance status to bail pending trial on July 15, 2021. Ms. Wang was placed under official arrest on August 18, 2021. She was arrested and detained in a detention center.
Ms. Wang was arrested by officers from the Aihui District Domestic Security Division in May 13, 2020 and was detained for 15 days in the Nenjiang Detention Center. She was bailed out for one year and placed under residential surveillance.
It has been confirmed by various sources that Mr. Zhao Yujie and Mr. Chen Yongsen are currently detained in the Lanzhou Prison. They have been detained there for more than six months. Their families have not been allowed to visit them.
Meng (first name and gender unknown), 79, was recently arrested by police for distributing informational information about Falun Gong.
Mr. Zhang Jianli was reported to police when he talked to students about Falun Gong in a square in Jiaokou County on the evening of August 16, 2021. Liu Wenyu, head of the Jiaokou County Domestic Security Division, personally went to the square and arrested Mr. Zhang. Mr. Zhang was body searched and his personal belongings confiscated, including his cell phone, two memory cards, and 82 yuan in paper bills imprinted with facts about Falun Gong.
Mr. Zhang was detained at the Jiaokou Police Department for 22 hours and was placed under 15-day detention. The implementation was delayed due to the pandemic. Mr. Zhang’s son was ordered to guarantee that Mr. Zhang would not leave the city.
The police went to Mr. Zhang’s home and his workplace the next day. They confiscated his Falun Gong books, truth-clarifying materials, a hard disk, memory cards, and other personal belongings.
Ms. Yang Qiaoling was harassed at home by officers from the Lubei Police Station on August 20, 2021. She answered yes when asked whether she still practiced Falun Gong. She tried to talk to the officers about Falun Gong.
Ms. Hou, 68, was harassed at home by officers from the Laoxialu Police Station and staff member Liu from the Laoxialu Sub-district Office on August 20, 2021. They photographed her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, MP3 player, and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder. They warned her not to tell her children about their visit.
Three practitioners from Majiazai Village were harassed by two officers from the Daiwangcheng Police Station in Yu County on August 13, 2021, including Ms. Xiao Yulian, Ms. Zhang Guizhi, and Ms. Bai Jinhua. The officers asked whether they still practiced Falun Gong.
Ms. Wang Xiaoqing from the Zhangdian District was harassed at home by police officers and staff members from the local neighborhood committee on the afternoon of August 19, 2021. They pressured her to sign a guarantee statement while video-recording her. She refused to cooperate.
The mother of Zhang Xiwei (gender unknown) was harassed at home by officers from the Yanta District Police Department, Liquan County Police Department, and the Chigan Police Station on August 18, 2021. They tried to confiscate the Zhuan Falun book found during their search, but Zhang Xiwei’s mother managed to prevent them from taking it.
Ms. She Weifang from Guan County was arrested in the Shuangliu District, Changdu City in June 2021. She is currently detained in the Guan County Detention Center.
Ms. Chen Jie was arrested by officers from the Jinqiao Police Station on August 19, 2021. She was placed under a ten day detention and detained in the Nanhui Detention House.
Ms. Li Zhijun was harassed at home by officers from a local police station in the Jizhou District on August 20, 2021. Ms. Li refused to open the door for them. They wanted to know whether she still practiced Falun Gong and wanted to take some photos. They said they would come again.
Ms. Zhang Qinglian, around 70, lives in the Jiangbei District. Some staff members from the local community office and the Guanyin Sub-district Office knocked on her door on August 16, 2021. They warned her not to go out and distribute information about or talk to people about Falun Gong, otherwise she would be arrested and sentenced to jail.
The cases against Ms. Yang Jie, Han Gongying, and Li Min, have recently been submitted to the Wulian County Court.
Mr. Zhang Deli was harassed at home by officers from the Xicheng Police Station in the Yanjiao District and Piao Chunxiang, secretary of the Xinggong Village Party Committee, on August 20, 2021. When they warned him not to go out to talk about Falun Gong, Mr. Zhang tried to tell them why millions of people practice.
Ms. Qu Huifen lives in Fujiaya Village, Dongge Sub-district. Ms. Qu’s husband received a call from village clerk Shang Ensheng on the morning of July 14, 2021, stating that Ms. Qu should come to the village office. Ms. Qu went there and was pressured to sign the paper they prepared, which she refused.
Shang Hongwei, secretary of the village Party committee, called a member of Ms. Qu’s family on the afternoon of August 11, 2021, and stated that people from the Pingdu City Political and Legal Affairs Committee wanted to meet with her about the Zero-out Campaign. When a committee member called again the next morning about the meeting, Ms. Qu refused to cooperate.
Officers from the Daiwangcheng Town Police Station went to Ms. Kang Meizhi’s home on July 14, 2021. They asked whether Ms. Kang still practiced Falun Gong and she said yes. The officers then went to the homes of Zhuang Jinyuan and Dong Zhiping and harassed the two practitioners.
In July 2021, two officers from the Yangzhuangke Township Police Station went to the photo studio in the Daiwangzhuang Town that Mr. Li Jinjun owned. Mr. Li was not there. They asked his wife whether Mr. Li still practiced Falun Gong and whether their household registration was in Yangzhuangke Township. His wife told them, “You will not believe me, whatever I say. We have a business to run. He is not here right now.” The officers walked through every room and then left.
Officers Ruan Yongli, He Jinfeng, and Wang Xin from the Nanyangzhuang Township went to Maizituan Village in July 2021. They harassed the practitioners in the village, including Ms. Gao Baoying, Ms. He Xiulan, Mr. Yang Zhenxin, Mr. Yao Long, Ms. Kang Yufeng, Li Xiurong, and Mr. Yang Shujin. The practitioners refused to cooperate.
Ms. Shen Delian from Longtan District went to visit a practitioner on May 16, 2021, and was arrested by officers who were monitoring there. Ms. Shen was taken to the police station, and was later bailed out. Her home was ransacked. Her personal belongings, including her Falun Gong books, the photo of Falun Gong’s founder, a computer, and three media players, were confiscated.
Ms. Lin Lehong, 44, and Ms. Ma Yanping, in her 30s, live in the Dafen Oil Painting Village, Longgang District. They were arrested around October 28, 2020. They will be tried in the Yantian Court on August 18, 2021.
Ms. Ye Xiufang, 76, was taken to the Guangdong Women’s Prison on April 28, 2021. Her family received a medical notice from the prison on June 28, 2021. It listed Ms. Ye’s current medical conditions: 1. Multiple cerebral infarctions. 2. Hypertension (Grade 3). 3. Type 2 diabetes. 4. Fatty liver (mild). 5. Arteriosclerosis of the lower extremities and multiple plaque formation. 6. Cataracts in both eyes.
Ms. Ye’s daughter went to the prison to visit her mother on July 29, 2021. Her mother was no longer able to walk on her own and moved about with the help of two inmates.
Ms. Ye Xiufang was arrested by officers from the Meijiang District Police Department on December 16, 2019. Her home was ransacked. Her Falun Gong books and truth clarification materials were confiscated. She was bailed out due to her health condition. Ms. Ye was officially charged in October 2020.
Five persons from the Supply and Marketing Cooperative, including the director Xu Erjian, went to Mr. Xu Jiang’s home on the morning of July 14, 2021. They photographed his home and secretly recorded the conversation, which was reported by the Political and Legal Affairs Committee. They warned Mr. Xu not to go out to distribute flyers or talk about Falun Gong. Mr. Xu did not comply with their demands and talked to them about Falun Gong.
These five persons went to Mr. Xu’s home again on August 8, 2021. They photographed his home and pressured him to stop practicing Falun Gong. Mr. Xu told them that they were violating the law because freedom of belief and freedom of speech was guaranteed in Article 35 and 36 of the Constitution.
