(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 24 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Wang Minghui has been held in the Tianquan Detention Center for nearly one year. She was tried for a second time at 9:30 a.m. on July 16, 2021. The trial ended at 11:30 a.m. and the verdict will be announced later.
Ms. Pan Yunxia was tried at the Fengtai County Court on July 14, 2021. Her lawyer pleaded not guilty. Ms. Pan did not admit the testimony submitted by the prosecutor. None of the four witnesses appeared in court. The entire trial lasted three and a half hours.
According to a report in mid-July 2021, Ms. Deng Rongfang, about 65, was taken to the Qinzhou Brainwashing Center. She refused to give up practicing Falun Gong, and is still being persecuted in the brainwashing center.
The Zunhua City Domestic Security Division and the Ping’ancheng Town Police Station dispatched 20 to 30 people in five police cars to Ms. Pan Haoqiu’s home in the No. 3 Village, Ping’ancheng Town, at 5 a.m. on May 12, 2021. The officers arrested her and ransacked her home.
Ms. Pan was held in the Zunhua City Detention Center from May 13 to May 27. As soon as Ms. Pan got there, she was forced to put on an inmate uniform. She said, “I did not break the law. I am not a criminal and I won’t wear it.” Three or four auxiliary police officers came and stripped off her clothes. She was forced to sit on a small bench every day, with a camera in her face. If she did not obey orders, she would be handcuffed and made to sit in an iron chair.
Ms. Pan returned home in early morning of May 27.
Mr. Peng Shuming from Gaotang County was arrested by officers from the Baicheng Police Department around April 10, 2021, for disseminating Falun Gong facts on WeChat, a popular social media app. He is being held in the Taonan Detention Center.
In the detention center, he was severely beaten for refusing to recite the prison regulations. His left eye was swollen, blood streamed from his nose, and his ribs hurt for over 20 days.
Ms. Yang Aiqing was sentenced to one year in prison by the Siming District Court on July 19, 2021.
Several plainclothes officers from the Juye County Police Department pried open Ms. Zhang Jing’s door, entered her home, and arrested her in November 2018. Ms. Zhang was held in the Heze Detention Center. Over 50 days later, she developed severe symptoms of heart failure and high blood sugar. She was taken to the Heze City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and was subsequently released on bail.
In December 2019, she was tried at the Cao County Court, which issued a verdict. She has not been put in prison because of her poor health and due to the pandemic.
In March 2020, the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Juye County suspended Ms. Zhang’s pension and cancelled her retired employees’ medical insurance.
Over the past year, she was persecuted and admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital several times, and was on the verge of death, which cost her nearly 200,000 yuan. All five toes on her left foot were amputated, the joints of her left foot were stiff, the sole of her right foot was ulcerated. She suffered heart failure and was unable to take care of herself.
Recently, Pang Xin, head of the Juye County Domestic Security Division, officers from the Nancheng Police Station, and the Cao County Court officials repeatedly harassed her and photographed her home.
Ms. Wan Heping from the Fangshan District was arrested around June 20, 2021. Her husband was called by the police to the Hancunhe Police Station to verify information, and only then did he learn that his wife had been arrested. Details of Ms. Wan’s situation are unknown.
Ms. Xu Aiqin was arrested at home by officers from the Gushan Border Police Station at 5 a.m. on June 29, 2021. She was detained for 10 days in the Weihai Detention Center. She has returned home.
Gu Jun and Cai from the Qinghe Town Comprehensive Management Office and Liu Zhuer, a section head of the sub-district, went to Mr. Wu Guangzhu’s home on July 1, 2021. They started videotaping with their cell phones as soon as they entered the house. They pressured Mr. Wu to fingerprint paperwork, which he refused. Then they found Mr. Wu’s daughter and son-in-law to sign and fingerprint the paperwork.
It was reported that Mr. Wu Huaihong from Dongfeng County, Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province, was arrested in Beijing.
Ms. Xue Lianxia from the Qingdao West Coast New Area was tried on June 21, 2021. Afterwards she was quarantined for 14 days. She failed the physical examination and was taken to the Chengyang District on July 8, where she would spend 14 more days in quarantine.
In April and May of 2021, members of the Yulin High-tech Community Management Office, police officers, and sub-district administration office personnel harassed Ms. Cao Huaxiu three times, and pressured her to write three statements, which she refused. She also rejected subsequent demands made by police officers and community management staff over the phone to write the three statements.
Mr. Lu Xiuzhi from Zhangjia Village, Zhuqiao Town, was arrested at home by people from the Zhuqiao Town Comprehensive Office and the Zhuqiao Town Police Station on July 19, 2021. She was taken to Laizhou City to have a “talk.” At 3 p.m. that day these people went to Mr. Lu Hongxin’s home in the Liujia Village and arrested him. They took him to Laizhou City to have a “talk.”
Eight officers from the Xingren County Police Department and the Dula Township Police Station in Baiyun District, Guiyang City, broke into Ms. Long Jianhua’s home in the Bentu Village around 9 p.m. on May 19, 2021. They photographed her and her home.
Five officers from the county police department broke into her home again on May 20 and pressured her to sign paperwork, which she refused.
Four officers from the township police station broke into her home on the morning of May 20, and pressured her to sign paperwork, which she refused. The officers said they would return in a few days. To avoid further harassment, she left home.
Ms. Chen Yao from the Putuo District was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from the Putuo District Domestic Security Division and the Baiyu Road Police Station on the morning of June 4, 2021. She was taken to the Putuo District Detention Center and was released on July 3. During the detention, her mother Ms. Tang Baozhi was placed under under residential surveillance.
Ms. Yang Wanxin has been held in custody for nearly a year.
Ms. Gao Xiuqing was arrested at the Mudanjiang City Train Station on July 17, 2021. She is being held in the Yanjiang Police Station. Her family members have been asking for her release since July 17. The officers have not allowed them to see her.
Ms. Li Ping from the Shazikou Sub-district, Laoshan District, was arrested around June 25, 2021. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
Around 9:29 p.m. on April 24, 2021, deputy director Gao of the Baotun Town Police Station, deputy head Su of the town government, and “help and education” personnel led by local police officers in the Hualong District, Puyang City, went to Ms. Lu’s daughter’s house. They photographed the place and pressured Ms. Lu to sign three statements renouncing Falun Gong, which she refused. To avoid further persecution Ms. Lu left her daughter’s home.
Later, these people went to Ms. Lu’s hometown several times and asked her relatives and friends about her whereabouts. They also went to her son-in-law’s home and pressured them to sign the three statements for her, which they refused.
Ms. Zhao Xiumei was arrested by officers from the Jinxue Police Station and the Domestic Security Division for talking to a plainclothes officer about Falun Gong. She was taken directly to the police station. Further information is pending.
On June 28, 2021, Party secretary Ma Jinxiang of the Suiyang Town Sub-district Administration Office, residential committee member Liu Li, and propaganda division head Yang Hongbin of the Suiyang Town Armed Forces Department, and others went to harass Ms. He Meiyan at her store. They pressured her to sign statements to give up her practice. Ms. He refused to comply.
Deputy director Bai Changqing of the Bianfang Police Station in Suiyang Town, officer Zhao Xin, and residential committee member Liu Li came to Ms. He on July 13 and pressured her to sign three statements, which she refused again.
Mr. Wang Hongtao was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials in March 2021, and was arrested by officers from the Zhiyuan Police Station in the Lixia District. Deputy director Yang Jun and six police assistants ransacked Mr. Wang’s home around midnight, and confiscated Falun Dafa books and a laptop. Mr. Wang was released the following day.
Officers including Yi Guanghui went to Mr. Wang’s work unit and arrested him on April 8, 2021. Mr. Wang was detained for 15 days. After he returned to the company where he worked, the company leaders refused to listen to the explanation and fired him while claiming he was transferred to a different position.
