(Minghui.org) On the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), over 30 legislators in Taiwan voiced their condemnation of the persecution, especially the forced organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners.
Su Chih-Feng, legislator in Yunlin County, said, “How can a country use the country’s machinery against its own people and sell the organs of its own people? It should be stopped immediately.”
Taipei City Councilor Chung Hsiao-ping
Chung Hsiao-ping, Taipei City Councilor, recalled that the city council passed a resolution a few years ago condemning the forced organ harvesting and the former head of the communist regime Jiang Zemin who ordered the persecution. The resolution won bi-partisan support and many of his colleagues expressed the wish to help Falun Gong practitioners stop the persecution.
On the special day of July 20, 2021, 22 years after the communist regime ordered the persecution, it’s even more imperative to support practitioners and change the communist regime’s totalitarian rule in China.
“July 20 has another special meaning, that is, to continue pressing for international sanctions for the crimes committed by Jiang Zemin.” He said that the CCP has handled issues regarding Hong Kong, Taiwan, and its U.S.-China relationship inappropriately. Even though the CCP is facing a new cold war and international sanctions, it still won’t stop persecuting Falun Gong. He emphasized that Falun Gong practitioners only pursue physical and spiritual perfection and have no interest in political power. He called on the regime to stop persecuting Falun Gong.
Nantou County Councilor Lai Yen-hsueh
Lai Yen-hsueh, the Councilor of Nantou County, said, “In the persecution of Falun Gong, the most horrific crime is harvesting the practitioners’ organs when they are still alive. Such evil behavior should be condemned by people around the world. It needs everyone’s efforts to resist the regime and demand that the regime stop its atrocities. When the people of Taiwan see the situation in China, everyone will cherish the democracy we have here even more.”
Liao Wan-ju, another legislator, said that she strongly opposes the CCP’s infringing on Falun Gong practitioners’ basic human rights and killing them for their organs. Falun Gong is a legitimate cultivation practice and shouldn’t be persecuted. She calls for more attention and governmental support for practitioners.
Nantou County Councilor Chen Han-Li
Chen Han-Li, another councilor from Nantou County, said that Falun Gong practitioners are brutally persecuted by the CCP and have even had their organs removed for sale, which sustains China as the world’s largest market for organ transplants. He supports Falun Gong’s actions in counteracting the persecution and calls on everyone to join the effort to eliminate the CCP.
Legislator Chen Su-yueh said that it’s always true that evil never prevails over righteousness. “We are witnessing Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party and even having their organs forcibly removed. Such inhumane acts are just unbelievable.” She hopes that all those who participate in the persecution wake up. “We should uphold our conscience and abandon the evil regime and its atrocity.”
Hsinchu City Council Member Chen Chi-Yuan
Chen Chi-Yuan, the council member from Hsinchu City, said, “My dear friends, we must strongly condemn and stop the Chinese Communist Party’s live organ harvesting, especially from Falun Gong practitioners. It is absolutely forbidden for anyone to forcibly harvest organs.”
Dr. Lun-Hsiang Yuan, a urologist at the National Taiwan University Hospital Yunlin Branch, added that it is a crime against humanity for the CCP to harvest organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. “Several leading scientific journals have publicly condemned the research published by Chinese researchers, as their research violated the most basic medical ethics. There are no grounds for it to continue.”
Dr. Yuan believes that, as a doctor who is trained to save lives, they must not harm the patient and must respect the patient’s choice. “You cannot kill someone for his or her organ and then use it in another person. That violates medical ethics and goes below the bottom line of human morality. From the standpoint of medical treatment, it should be absolutely forbidden, whether it’s for medical personnel or the general public.”
He pointed out that many doctors and people in general in Taiwan have spoken out against this inhumane act and Taiwan has passed laws banning Taiwanese from going to China to get a transplant or to participate in any business related to it. “Once people know the truth about live organ harvesting in China, they should share that information with their friends and relatives so more people know how evil the communist regime is.”
“From the standpoint of physicians and medical personnel, if they want to protect their patients and Falun Gong practitioners in China, they have to let their patients know that such crimes can’t be tolerated. It’s a crime against humanity. We also need to strongly advocate the message that, no matter what, we cannot go to China to get an organ transplant or do any business related to it.”
